All I can say is The Dressers is a fabulous place to stay and dine and a great country and family pub experience . With the new menu and the option to dine in the Chinese restaurant upstairs , this is the real deal. The staff when somebody checks in always makes it clear that breakfast is served weekends only... And suggest alternatives to go locally. I have never seen a member of staff be rude and I commend The Dressers Arms to anybody ..

We stayed at The Dressers Arms for two nights. The lady who showed us our room was really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfy. However they only provide breakfast at the weekend. We didn’t manage to get booked in for a meal. When we came back from a lovely meal elsewhere we thought we’d have a drink in the bar but we were told in no uncertain terms that the bar was closed. As residents not being able to have a drink at 9.20pm is ridiculous as they advertise they stay open til late. We feel a bit mean only giving it 3 stars but we didn't feel particularly welcome or valued as guests.

First time here and we both chose the Sunday Roast Beef I found the beef very fatty and I didn’t enjoy it. I couldn’t actually get my fork into the 2 roast potatoes I got. And the carrot and swede mash was runny There were no other potatoes served which I found a bit strange . The Yorkshire was nice and the gravy ok. The stuffing wedge had a weird herby taste to it So all in all not a successful meal. It felt like one of those pubs that if you were not a ‘local’ everyone turned and stared at you when you walked in which was very intimidating for me. Oh well, another pub crossed off our list.

I find the comments of the lady giving a one star review flabbergasting. I am a regular customer at The Dressers. I was in the bar area yesterday when the lady complaint . 1) I have never had a bad experience at The Dressers and the food is always exceptional. 2) The staff are always attentive 3) The dog was very noisy, and nobody disturbed the dog for it to drag the table. 4) The Dressers is very dog friendly and welcoming. 5) There was no rudeness from any member of staff, and there was no reluctance to refund the food. The Fish and Chips are very popular and there was no other complaints and I had them and they were amazing. I would highly recommend The Dressers for the warm welcome, dog friendly facilities , attentive and professional staff and the high quality of food . Nothing is too much trouble for the management and team. This is not meant as any offence, but when there is only one side of a story which can have a detrimental effect on the business then I am of the opinion people should have the truth and ignore such unfounded criticism.

We visited on the 11th and whilst everyone was very friendly, it all felt a little disorganised. All of our issues are really small things on their own but together made us feel a little disappointed. Lots of people outside in the sunshine but inside was relatively quiet. We’d booked a table but the reservation board was still by the till - not a problem, but it took them a while to work out where we should be. Service was very slow between courses however the food was piping hot. Many things weren’t available from the menu despite the peak time of day - the platter starter had plain fries instead of the advertised dirty fries, the cauliflower cheese didn’t arrive and only when we reminded them were we told that wasn’t available either. Largely, the food was good and the fillet steak was excellent. It was a shame the pie was not home made, and the Yorkshire puds were completely dried out. The veg was over seasoned and there was a lack of gravy on the roast. This all sounds super critical, but what could have been a lovely meal was made average by these little bits and bobs

This is 2 reviews in 1, but there can only be 1 rating. It's a pub that sells food as opposed to a restaurant. That said the food was excellent, an accolade I rarely award. We ordered wine with the meal but as there was no wine list we had to rely on the waiter "[knowing] all the wines". When the Bill came, for 1 large & 1 small glass of white, we were charged £15.70. For a pub that is extortionate! It's clear why they don't provide a wine list. As a result what could have been 5* only gets an average 3. They provide a food menu, so there's no reason they can't do the same for drinks, it seems they'd rather not.

The Sunday roast potatoes were rock hard and not cuttable with the knife and fork I had to pick them and bite into them' it just felt like the food had been cooked ages ago and just kept warm to plate up as required. We asked for the dessert menu and never got them' after waiting ages we just decided to have coffee and tea' after we ordered hot drinks we were then told the machine isn't working? We said a standard brew would be fine' but we was told iam sorry we aren't able to do that! One word, exquisite. Scratch that two words, bloody exquisite! We drove past the red lion and after some careful inspection, we realised their establishment was lacking in the bucolic experience we needed. We pulled up to the car park across the street, quickly meeting another friendly patron who had just left the dresser's, he jollily expressed his ability to slice through hooligans with his Muai Thai boxing skills, mesmerising me in my spot. Inside we discovered it was only 12 pounds for a delicious double burger, fries and a drink, now that I tell you, is a bloody great bargain. I attempted to face time my dad in the beer garden as I believed it to be of the utmost importance to express to him how fantastic the dresser's arms is. Sadly he didn't pick up, which left me flustered as I needed to quickly express how truly bucolic this pub is whilst in the moment. Thankfully not all was lost! I enjoyed my delicious browny dessert without seeing a single large UK spider in the entire pub! 10/10

If the owners and managers read reviews. You really need to pay some attention to your produce suppliers, chefs and waiting on staff. Been visiting the Dressers for 25+ years and this time was a massive disappointment. Went for Sunday lunch and as soon as we arrived the host sold us the reduced menu but amazing dishes line whilst posters adorned the walls advertising for a chef, not a good look. Menus lovingly described slow cooked lamb and roast topside of beef for the Sunday lunch. Neither could be further from the truth. The lamb was fatty and inedible and the beef wasn’t topside it was carved the wrong way. Vegetables were unseasoned. The fish was old and the gravy watery. Waitress didn’t offer a wine menu suggesting we leave our table to look in the fridges for our preferences. When questioned why she then spent the rest of her time giving us teenage attitude. Over £100 later we left and can’t say we’d be returning for food again any time soon. If I’m spending £8.50 on a glass of red at least list it on a menu so I can at least decide if it’s worth it. I realize hospitality is struggling right now but getting out of a fix is not to treat your customers like fools and cash cows. Big changes needed Dressers carry on like this then you’re in trouble.

Very disappointing stay this time. we first stayed when it first opened and it was fine. Good, clean basic accommodation. Nothing special - but clean and tidy. This time it was so different. We were greeted by pleasant staff and given our room key. The lovely building has been sliced-up to get maximum occupancy and has a very cheap feel fittings-wise. Firstly the walls in the rooms are so thin you can hear everything in adjoining rooms We unfortunately heard heard a 4.30 am drunken phone discussion of a former Blackburn Rovers football manager who shall remain nameless. We have a name for him following his noisy alcohol-fuelled ramblings - but we won't share it here. The worst part was the grubiness of the rooms though. It's quite simple - standards have slipped and whoever cleans the rooms has little attention to details. Grubby, un vacuumed carpet and drawers that hadn't been cleaned out. The window frame wasa disgrace too. All photographed to share here. The fundamentals of any place are a clean, peaceful room. We had neither.

The staff were great, table sorted in the dining area, order taken and served within 15 minutes. Fish was succulent and delicious, the tasty hand cut chips were crisp outside and fluffy inside, just what we needed after a busy week. All this while the pub main bar was heaving with drinkers on one of the busiest nights of the year. Have to report a minor disappointment. As regular visitors to the Dressers we enjoy the two steaks + wine deal on a regular basis. Last Saturday evening the steaks were as tough as old rope. They were cooked exactly as requested. Flavour was great, but if my sainted grandma with her full set of dentures had been served those steaks, she'd have died of starvation before being able to chew through them. This is a real departure from the norm! Please Dressers, either change your butcher or have a quiet word with them about the quality of the rump steak. 28 day aged prime it most certainly wasn't.

Now I am 'Mr Fish n Chips' & this was up there. Crisp batter, stunning chunky chips homemade Tatare sauce with fresh lemon...lip smacking imho. Washed down with a nice cold pint of Amstell beer each. We chose The dressers for our workplace Christmas Lunch We were not disappointed. From the service to the food everything was excellent We will definitely go back there. Lots of homemade food which made all the difference! Highly recommend!

Booked a table to try out food and general atmosphere before booking a family get together of 14 which would also included 3 rooms in the new year. Needless to say we will not be making a booking. Food was very disappointing, service although quick was not friendly and complaint made twice regarding greasy food was ignored. Could not wait to get out missing out on a desert. Very disappointing.

Absolutely superb, this is my idea of the best pub ever. Character, charm, huge atmosphere friendly, food is fantastic and staff equally so. I'll certainly be back. Thank you.

We went for the first time yesterday with friends who have been on several occasions. The menu choice is good. Service, good. We had one of the special deals for 2. 9oz ribeye steak meal with a bottle of wine, £40. The steak was beautifully prepared. There's a good selection of beers at the bar. A large car park is very useful and it was easy to find. We live in Bolton, and it's only 20 minutes drive. It's now on our list.

I went here for a coffee and was expecting it to be peaceful being located in a park. I was wrong! The place was more like a dog kennel than a cafe and so as you can imagine very noisy! Add to that it's expensive and the coffee was not good. Won't be returning!

I attended today as part of a group of 16. It was my 1st ever visit. I had the garlic mushroom and cheese bake with chips and gravy. (Peas on my plate ... No thanks) Anyway it was absolutely delicious. Plenty of cheese, and mushrooms. Could taste the garlic. The pastry was very easy to cut. When served, my meal looked appetising. The gravy was a lovely thick consistency. Plenty of it to cover the chips. (Is it suitable for vegetarians though please?) Too late now I know. If ever I get opportunity to go again. Would not hesitate to have the same meal again. And if the gravy's not vegetarian. I'd use ketchup on my chips instead. Being vegetarian. I don't know about recommendations of the other dishes. I could see though. Others in group had gammon. And it looked a good chunky juicy piece.

Spent some quality family time celebrating mum's 80 th with her siblings. Michelle our sever could not have done more. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and were encouraged to laugh as loud as wanted. And stay as long as we wanted. Very grateful for the service we received.

Friendly staff, fresh home made food and great atmosphere. I had lunch several times over the past couple of weeks and both the food and the service were faultless...the ownership has recently changed and what a difference! I totally recommend the posh fingers butty, or the steak & sundried ciabatta to name but a few... Enjoy!
