The Yew Tree Inn in Chorley

Just a little disapointed as we booked the restuarant for our anniversary, but were put in a side room with people who were just having having a drink, it didn't feel special for us especially with having booked a few days before, sadly I don't think we shall return.

We all enjoyed our food but I found mine to be the best vegan meal I've had in years.

Comfortable relaxing restaurant with plenty of space. Well cooked food with a twist and they worked very well.

Lovely location with great views, warm welcome and very good food and service. Perfectly placed for a variety of walks around the reservoir.

Called in to the Yew Tree Inn after a long walk with the dogs for a late lunch, the service was brilliant, we were sat next to a lovely fire and our drinks order was taken, menus were left for us to look through, and it looked very good, local food. I would definitely recommend this pub I will certainly be coming back.

We stopped at this pub on our walk around the reservoir, lovely pub and we were seated by the fire. However drinks and food were extremely expensive. A friend was charged £10 for a pint of orange juice, main meals were £23 upwards. I ordered beef rib , the size of the beef was a good portion and well cooked but the 4 chips and 1 mushroom was stingy. We were with friends who came a year ago and the menu and prices had drastically changed since then. I left hungry.

This place is a little gem, called in for lunch. Food and service was excellent. Tempting menu choice of both traditional and unusual ingredients all at reasonable prices.I had the corned beef hash with crispy egg, followed by coconut mousse and rum poached pineapple, my hubby had the fish and chips all tasted delicious.Very relaxing atmosphere, friendly and non intrusive staff I'd highly recommend a visit.

Lovely pub, great bar, wonderful staff and amazing food. The quality and attention to detail is exceptional. Dog friendly in the bar area. Didn't once feel rushed.

Friendly staff and the food was delicious! In fact, staff wen above and beyond - I was coughing and within seconds I was brought a glass of water! Thank you, The Yew Tree!

Very old pub.excellent foods and very tasty. Chowder with crispy egg was delicious. Was surprised how small the portion was....no pink gin!!

A pretty average experience, considering the food, price and service. It's in a nice spot, great for walkers, but we went for an early evening meal. We were sat right outside rhe kitchen door, even though there were plenty of tables elsewhere. We had a drink each and just a main course, though one of us only had a starter and it was almost £150 for 4 of us and a toddler. The food was OK I'd say, nothing special. I had the steak and it was £30, which was well overpriced. Most of the mains were lacking vegetable sides, especially the venison Wellington, which was a very beige plate. We weren't asked how the food was, even at the end when we asked for the bill, the lady was pretty much silent when keying the card payment. I wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

We were greeted by friendly hosts and were given a lovely table by the fire, a large table for 5 which is not the norm as you normally get a much smaller table at other establishments. We all had three courses and everyone enjoyed every course. We were given plenty of time to chat and choose our options and the atmosphere was perfect. The food was amazing and we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for making my husband's birthday so special, even though he didn't want a desert, which we were trying to get him to have, so we could put a candle on it. You came out with one any way. This icing on the cake!!

I have been to The Yew Tree multiple times and have enjoyed every second of it. Staff are so caring and knowledgable about the menu. Food is so high class with an affordable price. Lunch menu is fantastic, perfect to pop-in after a walk around Angelzark, Dinner menu is beautiful and innovative, a great team of talented chefs back there. I love this place, the atmosphere and the scenery, I am sure to return again.

Ate lunch here after a walk with family disappointing. Veg was cold. Roast beef was tough. Chicken breast dry.won't be rushing back

Excellent food, good vegetarian choice

Needs a spruce up and the beer selection isn’t the best. Food was decent enough but not worth the prices they charge.

Just had a lovely friends and Adam at the Yew Tree Inn at Anglezarke the service was outstanding, Thank you to George, Elliot and the team.

We visited here for Christmas Day. I have to say after 3yrs coming here it didn’t fail. The food and service was out of this world. The amount of food given was amazing but the quality didn’t falter. Definitely a 5* for the Yew Tree. The staff were so accommodating. Highly recommended

We paid an impromptu visit to this country pub and was pleasantly surprised. This charming place exudes warmth and coziness, amplified by its inviting log fire that crackles merrily in the background. The menu at this pub surpassed typical expectations with offerings like venison and guinea fowl. We indulged in a three-course meal and thoroughly enjoyed each dish!

We came here last night with our friends as part of our Xmas night out which we do every year.My wife and myself haven’t been here for the best part of 20 years and so it was nice to go somewhere different.We were booked in for 7.15pm and when we went into the dining room there were only another 2 tables occupied so the kitchen wasn’t exactly run off their feet.After ordering our food we had a chat with our friends and had some wine etc but after a while I realised that it had been quite a considerable amount of time since we ordered and the lady who I spoke to to see how long our starters were going to be then chased it up and eventually they arrived.We all enjoyed our food and it was very tasty and the menu was very good without too much choice.All in all we had a good time and we would go back but at the beginning of the evening I feel that they could speed up the service.

Ordered the beef burger with chips and the staff were happy to accommodate a swap of the onion rings for vegetables. Everyone enjoyed their food (fish & chips, partridge pie, ginger sponge) so you get the quality you pay for. Only negative was sitting on the upper mezzanine level was freezing, even with all 4 radiators on, which was a shame.

This was by far the most delicious perfectly cooked meal I have eaten out in a long while. Sat by a cosy fire, Served by friendly professional staff giving excellent service, I could not fault this experience. Congratulations to the Chef and staff. I can't wait to come back for more! Thank you.😊

Not been here for decades.Met up with friends.Food delicious.Service excellent.Drinks great.Lovely atmosphere on a very busy Sunday lunch.Sat by the pass and witnessed plate after plate going out really efficiently.A very special mention for an amazing rabbit pie.Will be back a bit sooner than 30 years!

Great staff, lovely setting with superb views. Slightly disappointed with the roast. £22 with a very small portion size. Meat was ok, only came with 1 Yorkshire, 2 small boiled potatoes (not roast) and some cauliflower cheese. Will certainly be back for a drink at some point.

We have been many times to the Yew Tree and always enjoyed it, However this time I ordered the fish and chips and the batter was so soggy and not crispy at all, I ended up taking all the batter off and just eating the fish. I mentioned this to the waitress and said it was uneatable and she apologised but no mention of any discount to the bill. To be fair the waitress seemed very new and maybe didn’t even mention it to the chef. If this was the first time visiting I would not go back again, but I probably will die to previous experiences.

Impromptu family catch up & it did not disappoint.

Nice to sit outside in the seating area, in the sun. Lovely views of the countryside, you could think you're a million miles away but it's all here on the doorstep.

Very overpriced for the quality of meals for eg: roast beef accompanied with one small dried carrot, & kale, basic boiled new potatoes ( no other vegetables) receipt included gratuity which should be optional, but establishment know that most people won't exclude it. Unnamed miscellaneous food items also on receipt. We will stick to Toby's in future.

Great food, service and value for money

Dined here last night, couldn’t fault the food we had chicken with wild mushrooms and gnocchi, friendly and attentive service. Looking forward to returning.

Nice atmosphere for a meal. Steak was nicely cooked, served with fries and cauliflower cheese which was quite unusual as usually it is served with tomatoes/mushrooms. Duck was tender with flavours of ginger and rhubarb. Date and chocolate pudding and apple crumble were good but nothing special. Service was friendly. Very over priced for a pub with the bill coming to over £90. For this price there are better high class restaurants around. Expensive!

Above average food , served with style and presented well. Unfortunately this was let down badly by very poor timings, with 25 mins before order taken a further 25 minutes before starter arrived and a massive 50 mins from starter cleared to main course arrival.

Excellent place to have a pint after walking up Rivington. Food was great, good selection of beers, plenty of parking and the overall experience was perfect. See you again soon

Nice meal but over priced especially when gratuity is automatically added to your bill I would say 8.00 per couple not on really when your paying over the odds for a Sunday roast

This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in, and I am lucky to have eaten in some very exclusive places. The combination of ingredients is inspired, and the food therefore delicious. There is a good range of dishes to suit every taste. The front of house staff are very welcoming and efficient. I honestly can't recommend this place highly enough and look forward to my next visit!

Disappointing. I haven't eaten at The Yew Tree in 3 years and haven't eaten out since before covid. I was really looking forward to celebrating and trying the Oxcheek as per the menu online but it was not on the menu at the venue. We had reserved, granted arrived late (but ample room) however sat near the bar with staff close by which was a little off putting. With that being said service was slow and lacking. The gent serving us was spot on. Our lagers weren't the best, for Estrella it went flat quite quickly. Starters lovely. The fillet lovely, the lamb however, was overcooked and difficult to cut. My partner ended up finishing my meal. Seated at 6:45, it took until our main was served at 7:30 that I was able to ask for a wine list. Another 10 minutes for someone to realise I was waiting for service, even after sitting, waiting not eating. As soon as we'd finished we asked for the bill, another 10 minute wait. Sorry Yew Tree but won't be visiting again.

The food here is really quite special. As is the atmosphere and the well kept cask ales from the local Black Edge brewery. Highly recommend the goats cheese starter, which is out of this world - it's worth visiting for that alone!
