The chef here knows about flavour! What a wonderful meal we had last night. The perfect balance of portion size and taste. Shout out for the salmon and the beef Welsh rarebit - wow! However all 4 starters were a hit. The chicken and little pie - oh my, so good. We were full but could not resist pudding as they were so different and delicious. It’s a lovely place go and support you will not be disappointed. Special request please bring back your fab corned beef hash for the winter - an absolutely fabulous dish with homemade corned beef!

Disappointing. I had such good expectations. Beautiful location. The interior looks lovely. We were put on a higher level and staff seemed to almost forget about us. Had to chase staff to order and even pay the bill. I didn't enjoy the fish and chips. It came very salty. I don't normally add salt to anything (including fish and chips). I could even see the salt on top of the fish. I complained, but heard nothing further other than the chef had been told. I won't be visiting again. Don't order fish and chips, unless you are a salt lover.

Fantastic food last night at The Yew Tree. Where else can you go with your dog, dressed in anything from shorts and a t-shirt to trousers shirt and jacket and get top cooking in a casual and friendly countryside setting..? I never get tired of the views, the setting is amazing and the old building is full of character. The staff are great, there’s always decent folk in, also often with well behaved dogs in the bar. The beer is good and local, there’s lots of gin and the choice of whiskies is good. The new menu is a winner, especially the braised lamb with roasted aubergine, hummus and harissa. It was 10/10 and amazing. Top tip, have three courses, it’s how the portion sizes are designed. You’ll be hungry if you just have a main and probably a little miffed at what you’ve just spent to not be full up. But have the lot and it’s perfect. I’m a fussy sod and have pretty high expectations but the place, people, food and drink were excellent thanks to Olivia, George & team.

It's not often that I write a review, but today I had the pleasure of visiting the Yew Tree. I have to say, the food was absolutely first class. We turned up on a whim, having not eaten here for more than 20 years, and I cannot believe I’ve been missing out on this place. Upon arrival, the warm welcome and pleasantries from the staff made us feel at ease instantly. Getting straight to the food, I ordered the shin beef croquette, and my wife chose the cauliflower cheese soup. The shin beef was served with onion and gravy sauce. I do not know how the chef packed so much flavor into the onion—I could have had a plate of these alone. The shin beef croquette was equally to die for, and I wished I could have had a plate of those too. My wife’s soup came with homemade bread and flavored butter. She saved me half her bowl, which I absolutely loved. We were off to a good start with the first course. The menu offered a good variety, and I fancied the haddock and chips, which was served with mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a generous portion of chips. The fish was sprinkled with sea salt, and the presentation was amazing. The flavor and freshness of the haddock were first class. My wife ordered the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, served with cauliflower cheese, baked potatoes, and a carrot purée, all of which were incredibly flavorful. My choice of a pint of Camden Pale Ale was a great complement to the fish and chips. Afterwards, we were recommended to try the homemade and baked raspberry and chocolate clafoutis, a soft and runny baked pudding served with a quenelle of ice cream. This was another taste sensation—definitely something to try. I’ve got to say, it certainly won’t be another 20 years before I go back. I highly recommend this place. It's a must-try, and credit goes to the chef and the staff.

We stopped at this pub on our walk around the reservoir, lovely pub and we were seated by the fire. However drinks and food were extremely expensive. A friend was charged £10 for a pint of orange juice, main meals were £23 upwards. I ordered beef rib , the size of the beef was a good portion and well cooked but the 4 chips and 1 mushroom was stingy. We were with friends who came a year ago and the menu and prices had drastically changed since then. I left hungry.

A pretty average experience, considering the food, price and service. It's in a nice spot, great for walkers, but we went for an early evening meal. We were sat right outside rhe kitchen door, even though there were plenty of tables elsewhere. We had a drink each and just a main course, though one of us only had a starter and it was almost £150 for 4 of us and a toddler. The food was OK I'd say, nothing special. I had the steak and it was £30, which was well overpriced. Most of the mains were lacking vegetable sides, especially the venison Wellington, which was a very beige plate. We weren't asked how the food was, even at the end when we asked for the bill, the lady was pretty much silent when keying the card payment. I wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

I went here for a coffee and was expecting it to be peaceful being located in a park. I was wrong! The place was more like a dog kennel than a cafe and so as you can imagine very noisy! Add to that it's expensive and the coffee was not good. Won't be returning!

Spent some quality family time celebrating mum's 80 th with her siblings. Michelle our sever could not have done more. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and were encouraged to laugh as loud as wanted. And stay as long as we wanted. Very grateful for the service we received.

I attended today as part of a group of 16. It was my 1st ever visit. I had the garlic mushroom and cheese bake with chips and gravy. (Peas on my plate ... No thanks) Anyway it was absolutely delicious. Plenty of cheese, and mushrooms. Could taste the garlic. The pastry was very easy to cut. When served, my meal looked appetising. The gravy was a lovely thick consistency. Plenty of it to cover the chips. (Is it suitable for vegetarians though please?) Too late now I know. If ever I get opportunity to go again. Would not hesitate to have the same meal again. And if the gravy's not vegetarian. I'd use ketchup on my chips instead. Being vegetarian. I don't know about recommendations of the other dishes. I could see though. Others in group had gammon. And it looked a good chunky juicy piece.

Friendly staff, fresh home made food and great atmosphere. I had lunch several times over the past couple of weeks and both the food and the service were faultless...the ownership has recently changed and what a difference! I totally recommend the posh fingers butty, or the steak & sundried ciabatta to name but a few... Enjoy!
