Cafe Ambio in Chorley

The queues are always horrendous. Years doing it and they still can't get it right. Avoid.

Had a luxury hot chocolate served in a tin cup, doesn’t scream luxury to me, was very expensive for such a small cup!!! Won’t be ordering that again!

Food coffee are fab really lovely please

They have the builders in so mobile van outside then take in the cafe. No heating, drilling, and very poor brews in paper cups. We left the drinks and went home. Dreadful. They need to close until the building work us completed.

Warm, inviting , spacious cafe in the grounds of Astley park. Child friendly and dog friendly as well. Nice The indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating available as well. The hot chocolate and mocha was good and the tea cakes were moist. A whole section of doggy treats available as well. Wouldn’t mind coming back.

The cafe is luxury. There are posh tables and chairs inside. You can choose to dine alfresco too. Although the number of external seats and tables are reduced in winter times.They can make good meals or snacks and treats for you at a cost. I love their soft drinks. My favourite being dandelion and burdock with a scone. It's lovely with jam and cream! If without this, it's very dry and without a taste. It's to be treated as an expensive, on a occasional treat! For the disabled toilets, that you access with the big blue key, just look for the big glass doors in the house close to the Ambio cafe doors.

Great experience at my first visit to Astley Hall and this cafe. Delicious food really friendly staff makes a great combination!

Called in on a wet Thursday morning and the place was buzzing with dog walkers, families, couples, 'ladies who lunch'. Warm friendly evnironment and enthusiastic staff who were were chatty and happy to help. We'll happily go bavk

Looking forward to a bacon barm,was told they stop serving after 11am ,it was 11.45,ok I accept that ,ordered a pot of tea and a scone,pot of tea had broken spout,dirty and didn't pour properly. The scone was very hard and crumbled into pieces when I cut in half. Not the best cafe I've been too.

We pass here most days when walking our dog. It’s close to home so only use it occasionally. Today really convenient for lunch. Menu is limited but food top notch. I especially enjoy the burger which compares to anywhere and great value. Very good and efficient staff. Dogs are made really welcome both inside and out. Get there early as it gets busy most weekends

Excellent place for breakfast/brunch/lunch/afternoon tea. Good food and coffee. This cafe is set within the very attractive Astley Park, Chorley. Lovely courtyard location.

Love this place so peaceful, there scones with butter jam and cream are amazing. Then hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Soon goood

My first visit, we ordered 1 scone 1 teacake 2 teas £11.00 + I waited 15mins for my teacake eventually going back to counter to ask for it, this took another 8 mins to arrive and the server said sorry but our toasters are a bit small? Personally I believe the forgot my order

Second vista for breakfast bap and coffee. Disappointing when compared to my first visit. Overpriced for the quantity and quality. Don't know if the good chef had bank holiday off!

Lovely coffee and cake/scone on this visit. We've visited a few times in the past. Always lovely food but it can get a bit noisy at times as it's frequented by lots of mums with toddlers and children. Friendly staff and very clean cafe. Wheelchair and pram access and comfortable room for wheelchair diners to enjoy their fare.

Great service, the sandwiches at the front are amazing and the roll they are on are the perfect crunch/soft ratio. All the staff are lovely and friendly. I highly recommend the Japanese green tea with cherry! I would love to see more vegan options on the menu however there are a few vegetarian options.

Lovely little cafe, not the cheapest but good food, nice surroundings and really polite friendly staff.. definitely recommend a visit from individuals to families alike

My husband and I visited the cafe today but were very unimpressed. Had I been alone, I would have left without ordering but, as we were nearing the end of a long walk, was persuaded by my husband to stay for coffee. We found that: a) the table (no.9) had not been cleaned - full of crumbs. b) the menus were tatty and stained (perhaps could be replaced with laminated, wipeable menus.) c) the salt and pepper pots were dirty. d) there were dead insects on the window cill above our table. The whole place looked to be in need of a thorough deep clean. We did have (lukewarm) coffee which, for all of the above reasons I did not enjoy. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Very busy supposed to be dog friendly you got your staff to tell my daughter of 12 years old if she could keep her dog quiet she would have to leave bare in mind people's voices were higher and this was jack Russell whimpering don't think I'll be back

Really slow service. Queued for about 30 minutes to order and then waited another 30 minutes for the food to arrive.

Great cafe, gets very busy, so the outside seating gets used a lot, even when the weather is not great, great cakes, coffee, some meals on the expensive side.

The best coffee and cake around. A very warm welcome. Local artists exhibit here too. Was slightly troubled by previous reports on here, but I found today's visit a pleasant experience. Yes, there were dogs in the cafe, but everything was very clean. My Latte was made with whole milk, not the usual semi-skimmed you tend to get with a regular drink. You could have the choice of other milk. A lovely warming drink on a cold morning.

Lovely meal staff friendly but staff kept stroking dogs a bit too much plus dogs should be kept to one area of the cafe for allergy and hygiene reasons

Had a delicious breakfast and coffee with friends. Staff were nice. Unfortunately I wouldn’t return due to the amount of dogs allowed inside. There was one sat on the bench seating next to me with its owner, another huge husky type Sprawled across the floor. It was a wet day so you can imagine the smell. Very offputting. Every table seemed to have a dog and it made the place feel dirty.

Decided to have a walk in Astley Park and stopped at Cafe Ambio for a light lunch. The food was OK, but nothing outstanding, and overpriced for what was provided. The real downside was the number of dogs, at least eight in our area, causing a real trip hazard alongside the number of pushchair / wheelchairs blocking the aisles. But the real sticking point to us was the number of staff that stroked said dogs before returning to the kitchen area to reappear literally seconds later carrying yet more orders. OK if you're a dog lover but one to avoid it you aren't.

Fabulous breakfast! The place was buzzing on a very rainy NYE. People flocking in for the great service, tables were super clean. Cakes looked amazing. I had the full English and it was the best breakfast I’ve had in years. Amazing Cumberland sausage wheel, tasty bacon and black pudding. Enormous mushrooms too! Staff were friendly and helpful. Go, you won’t regret it!

Great selection of food, cakes and drinks. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Always enjoy a visit here after a walk around the park. The homemade soup is really nice. The ladies behind the counter are really nice and make you & your furry companions feel welcomed.

Went with a friend this week, who had not been before. She was very impressed. I have been a number of times and previously reviewed. As always, the food was fresh and well presented. I ordered humus and falafel flatbread (pictures). Friendly staff too. We'll behaved dogs can be taken indoors. Menu caters for vegetarian/vegans plus other options. Reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. I definitely recommend!!!!

Cafe in lovely location with indoor and outdoor seating. Good quality coffee's and varied menu. Especially tempting were the freshly baked cakes. However, NO PRICES displayed either on the menus, blackboard or in the counter. Scones looked delicious but I didn't want jam or clotted cream, just butter. Assistant told me no different price for that option! Therefore £3.95 is OVERPRICED. Not everyone wants clotted cream. Very unhealthy choice.

The name suggests that it has an ambiance about it. That's if the ambiance is supposed to be long queues for vastly overpriced food and drinks.

The setting of this cafe is perfect. I tried the sausage breakfast roll with a fried egg and a bottle of water. £8!!!! For the price I was expecting something nice but the weird roll was stale and only half buttered, the sausage was dried up and chewy, the egg was ok. The staff were nice. What a shame.

A bacon roll with no butter on it ? Never come across that in a cafe, well not one which charges £4.50. Overpriced and not really that good. Coffee too weak as well.

Every Friday coffee and toasted teacake after bowling. Great . Enjoy it.

Visited again after quite a while. The service was friendly and welcoming and very helpful. The flat white coffee was excellent and the scones to die for!! Also sampled their carrot cake and spicy apple cake , both divine!! We shall return again soon

Very fine cafe in converted stable block at Astley Hall. A credit to all involved. Try the peanut butter blondie tray bake and you'll want to revisit. Recommended by a fellow cyclist who knows his cafes.

Visited today hoping for a nice coffee and a slice of cake. The cafe was busy as there was an event going on in the park. Not concerned about the queue - they got through it quickly enough and the staff were pleasant. The cafe inside was clean and outside, the tables and chairs were clean and cleared quickly. Ordered two coffees - which were very nice. The much hoped-for cake wasn't to be at the price of £3.95 per slice!! Crikey, it's a bit steep, especially as the slices weren't that bit (though they did look lovely). There's just no way I'd pay nearly £14 for two coffees and two slices of cake. It put us off going back there although the courtyard is a lovely setting and if the weather is nice, it'd be idyllic to be able to sit there are relax.

I've visited Cafe Ambio a couple of times recently due to the fantastic weather and the need to take my dog for a trip away from home.I can only realistically give this review based on the fact that I purchased items on a takeaway basis. That said, the COVID one way system in place is efficient and well explained.The food and drinks I bought were good value for money - especially as I bought a frozen yoghurt (Frozzy) for my dog - with two cans of Coke, a Cumberland Sausage harm, two pieces of toast and jam and the Frozzy costing £12.80.The service is friendly and efficient - especially as there were three people on "front of house" who looked after the counter and all the outdoor tables. Yes, there was a wait, but not so long as to be concerned that you'd been forgotten about - again, a by product of the amount of staff, presumably due to COVID security.With the facility of additional benches nearby, I felt sufficiently distanced - both for COVID purposes and for the comfort level of my dog who can get a little nervous if there are a lot of people around.A nice breakfast in charming surroundings - both for myself and my dog.
