Best tasting curry around, my go to for a takeaway

Disgusting service , delivery driver wouldn't ring bell and wouldn't come to flat on 1st floor, Food was Disgusting and no meat in the main dish just vegetables, DO NOT USE THIS PLACE , LAZY DELIVERY DRIVER AND CRAP FOOD

Food is absolutely amazing. Service is first class, especially the waitress very helpful. Been there with my wife brilliant service with brilliant atmosphere. Had a good time there usually we order takeaway which is fantastic. 100% Recommend

Food was ordered for 7pm, delivered at half 5 when I am still at work. Food was re delivered just after 7pm, cold and tasteless! Hugely disappointing

Okay... if you like your chicken tikka massala bright red full of sugar coconut and tasting like a dessert not a curry.. Even worse if you've ordered a bhuana and they did not read the request on the online order. So don't use online phone them.

Takeaway. Collected from the restaurant. Got there a little bit early and had to wait a few minutes, not a problem as they brought the food over to us. I was expecting it to be freshly cooked and piping hot because of this. A reasonably large order for a family gathering. To say it was acceptable would be generous. Chicken tikka on puri very very oily. Not nice. Mixed kebab. Again oily and minimal. Jalfrezi spicy but lacking in prawns. Lamb dish very fatty Masala watery and again hardly any chicken. And all of it cold. We won’t be back.

I have been ordering take out from the Village for some time now, trying different dishes across the range. Never had a bad one yet. Every time the delivery has arrived piping hot and as ordered, delivery guys have been welcoming and chatty. Recently been having the North Indian Garlic dish, absolutely top draw, great flavours along with the coriander rice.. Highly recommend the take away service.

Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Food mediocre. Tense atmosphere. We bought a bottle of wine from Tesco’s over the road but it wasn’t chilled. Asked if we could please have an ice bucket to chill the wine? Told they didn’t have ice to offer to customers, and said we could buy it over the road at Tesco’s. Went back to Tesco’s to buy ice . Asked if we could please have water to add to ice to make the wine chill more quickly? Waiter brought a bottle of spring water - that we would have to pay for. Asked for tap water 3 times before we eventually got it. Asked for takeaway containers at end of meal to take home food. Only given one container to put everything into. Asked if we could please have another bag to transport the four home? Told no more bags were available… Very unpleasant dining experience in August 2023. Will not be recommending or returning to this restaurant.

Not only did this restaurant overcharge myself and my father when we went there, acting as if it was our fault that we had done so because we did not inform them of the specific menu that we wanted to order from (which they also did not provide despite it being highlighted as a feature on their website) they also have had the gall to ask me to remove the said review. As such, I am downgrading the rating from 2 stars to 1. Do not waste your time with a restaurant that does not seek to keep its patrons informed, satisfied and most of all, happy. I'd highly recommend instead you try the Rhui Balti house in Prenton, the Tandori in Prenton, Pappadoms in Noctorum or Britannia Spice in Parkgate. These restaurants have never given me or my family or friends any grief, and as such are a superior Indian dining experience in almost every way. Thanks for the feedback, Villiage Tandori! Disappointing service, mediocre food and unfriendly staff. We asked for ice. Told we had to go over the road to Tesco’s to buy it. We asked for an ice bucket and water to poor into it. The waiter brought us a bottle of spring water which we would have had to pay for. After asking 3 times we eventually received tap water which we weren’t charged for. Food was average at best. The Keema Naan bread had all of the meat concentrated in one small section. It wasn’t spread evenly throughout the bread. Not sure if it may have been dropped? Asked for takeaway containers. We were just given one container and we were expected to put everything in one container. Rice, curry, dips and naan bread, so it would have gone soggy. Asked if we could please have another plastic bag to transport the meals home? We were told by the unfriendly waiter that no more plastic bags were available. We felt that we were being an inconvenience by being there. We weren’t welcomed or even smiled at by the staff. An unpleasant experience. We will not be returning to the Village Tandoor in Claughton Village, nor will we be recommending it.

I felt a bit like our custom wasn't appreciated. Shame really because the food was really good. I think that the staff just need to adjust their attitude a bit. Vegetable dansak was brilliant.

Once again Dill and the team served up amazing meals, no waiting around for ages between courses, and as busy as they were they stopped and chatted when they could. It was great to see the place filling up even as we left.

Just rang up to make a order, got Buzzed off could hear everyone laughing in the background, got told to I need to learn to speak english. Do not order from this shop

Not a great takeout. Rice freezing,keema naan burnt and barely any meat in it. Although the masala was tasty and hot enough.

Omg is this suppose to be tandoori food ! Warmed up white rice butter chicken was like soup , the meat is not fresh and from a frozen packet it was so tough and tasteless onion bajis dripping in grease. Food is not good at all especially we decided for a Saturday night treat Dont know what the hell it was suppose to be but the food is not good from here someone may eat it after a few pints but other than that i would spend your money at a better place . Sack the chef nothing but slop .

Had a wonderful Indian meal here, very tasty. Please ignore any bad reviews as this place had really nice food. No ‘wildies’ the next day either which was a pleasant surprise. My only advice is not to fill up on popadoms so you leave plenty of room for your main course. My friend ate 5 whole poppadoms so was very full and struggled with his main, what a silly Billy. Also if you’re feeling adventurous raid the Tesco over the road and lift some bottles of Cobra beer and take these in with you before they notice.

Worst curry ever. Sauce is watery with no substance or flavour. Been to this place twice now and on each occasion it was the same result, watery, tepid food. Won't ever go again.

Got a meal sizzler not on menu beautiful.

Went there with family and friends for dinner and had a really bad experience. The Chicken Kebab in our Mix Kebab was horrible and raw. When we complained they ignored at first but later another person brought us properly cooked ones. Butter chicken was the worst and we didn’t have it because it wasn’t butter chicken or something edible. It had chicken pieces in a weird coconut sugary gravy without any trace of butter in it. Either they have the worst butter chicken in the world or they served us a different dish. We also ordered Mango shakes but got Mango flavoured lassi instead, which was nice but definitely not what we ordered. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to smile to your customers. After few hours, one of us had a bad stomach and another person vomited. Hope you’ll take this as a warning bell and try to improve your service and food.

Had a lovely dinner this evening at our local Indian Mainly use for a takeaway but decided to have a sit in We had Korma, Dansak, mixed tandoori, Bhajis and poppadoms (between the family) All of which was delicious - recommended from me

I had an AWFUL takeaway. I ordered a passanda but the sauce was almost like water! The chicken was that chewy I had to bin it. Both rice & curry came to me luke warm. They also ignored my comments when placing the order. The person on the phone had the nerve to tell me that my curry should be that way??? They then went on to lie to Foodhub to say that I didn't give my feedback in time? The conduct of 'restaurants' like this put me off using Foodhub entirely.

Terrible food. Ordered biriyani and they served something else.

Excellent takeaway from the team at Village Tandoori, following on from several others I've had. As a boring, 'same menu-choices every order' type, I've tried quite a few other places, but this is my absolute favourite for my combo 'tandoori chicken main with veg curry sauce, lemon rice, tarka dal' Stunning combination

Woul love to thank these Guys with all our hearts 💕 when my husband had a dizzy spell just round the corner from here and smashed his face on the pavement.... couldn't get and ambulance or a taxi and so one of the guys from the India ran us up to Arrowe Park hospital and gave me his number for a lift back home....saying what ever time it was 👏👏 couldn't fault them at all and they where open and working....we owe you BIG time 👏👏💕🤗🤗

The food is really worst. They don’t even add salt to the food. They don’t follow the special instructions given by the customers. It’s completely waste of ordering food. The staff does not talk proper English.

Food was good/ tasty and worth the price I paid. Ordered for 20.30 and that's when it arrived. However, there's always a However isn't there? It was lukewarm, hence the 4 stars. If you need to deliver earlier than expected just contact me and say so. I won't hold plus or minus 15 minutes against you. EDIT UPDATE ... Second time I ordered they failed to deliver a meal. I had to pick it up. Third and final time. Placed order for 3 meals and starters etc for collection. None of us where happy with our meal. That'll do for me. Not using them again.

Service was terrible the food was over an hour late. The food was OK but not great.

So we ordered a few weeks ago and loved how fresh and tasty the food was. It was full of flavour well cooked and hot in delivery. So we ordered again tonight. When the food arrived on delivery it had Burst all over the place and ruined most of the order. I called the restaurant and explained what had happened… I also sent pictures to them for evidence. With no hesitation or problem they replaced all the food with no charge. When the new food arrived it was gorgeous! Thank you so much for a wonderful service all round!! I highly recommend to anyone! This is a great place!

Ordered one jelfrezi and one chicken tikka masala curry and 2 keema 2nann breads...disgusting and tasteless and prawn cocktail hot as they packed it with curries...wasted of hard earned cash...wont be ordering again...and only got 1 keema after ordering 2....chicken tikka was red and not the proper colour orange...avoid like the plague.

Ged and Ami run this place so well, they are a great asset to our village, our takeaway consisted of Chicken Bhuna, alo gobi and rice for my wife... and the pièce de résistance... lamb jalfrezi for me, what a delicious meal. So lucky to have a quality taste fest so close...

Thank you Village Tandoori, our first order with you was a winner !! Please thank the Chef, as that's where it begins. Our delivery driver was a lovely, polite man too. We ordered 2 meals and both were very authentic and tasty. I love it when you can taste the different spices rather than just covered by chilli heat. We've struggled to find a good local curry house. We'll be ordering again !!

So so awful. We allowed an extra half an hour ontop of our allocated time of delivery as we knew it would be busy.... this was already over an hour to wait. Nearly 3 hours later and no food still. Rang 3 times and everyone we got shouted at WE ARE BUSY and the phone went dead. It's 10pm we ordered at 7pm and we have no idea if it's coming or not. Bad service!!!! Be ashamed.

We had a take away. Food was gorgeous lots of it piping hot. Well worth a visit. Excellent value. We have also in the past had sit down meals excellent service and delicious food.

always get the £10.95 takeaway meal for one , amazing you get any curry naan rice , chicken pakora and gobi malar but you can change that to bombay aloo or samosa 2 changes :-)always fresh really nice and i've tried multiple Ruby joints on the Wirral and throughout the UK over the years even abroad and i have to say this personally is my favourite ... the rogan josh is to die for the chicken is always so succulent and tasty .the pakora is beautiful naan too , popodom and chutneys included , i'd recommend the creamy chicken chaat mmm ... so filling and the madras and vindaloo is always cooked to perfection , the only thing i've noticed is the lamb tikka in the passanda is a little tough but the chicken amazing , i prefer chicken anyway , bhuna lovely next time i'll try the jalfrezi .. would highly recommend i know they do midweek dining specials now too dine in 3 courses for a tenner i think , my family visited from Australia and i ordered two £20.95 set meals and it fed the 6 of us , they said it was divine absolutely perfect ... in Australia the indian cuisine is so so different to ours it is kinda like a pataks jar or a supermarket meal , very watery and pretty inedible in my opinion most dishes are brown , i don't really understand why ? and it's the same in every town , city and Australian state i have been to i lived there for years so it was so disappointing when you crave an indian meal , oz is mainly Thai and they are pretty good although my family said the food was excuisite and they had no idea that indian food was literally that good , we agreed if they opened up village tandoori down under serving that quality of food they would clean up literally .... compliments to the chef's , the front staff are always friendly too , nice cosy atmosphere with decorative seating very clean and has a romantic setting too, GUYS!!! i'm a curry connoisseur and this place is a little hidden gem:-)

Wasn't sure what to expect after some of the reviews but decided to see for myself anyway... The restaurant was clean and uncluttered but with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.. tbe staff were friendly and attentive and the menu was varied... We were informed as we were seated that although they did not sell alcohol we were welcome to provide our own or enjoy their soft drinks available.. our food came and it was well presented and delicious.....Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised at the dining experience and will be returning... We also left with their takeaway menu.....:)

My wife and friend had booked this restaurant for last Saturday night. As a retired food safety specialist I am aways interested to check out the hygiene ratings of restaurants I am going to and I happened to be passing it a couple of hours before we were booked in. I noticed that the hygiene rating was not displayed in the window and therefore put my head around the door and asked the manager what it was. He responded with a fairly aggressive / defensive WHY?? I explained and he said 'it should be 3'. To me this is not a great rating but there was something in his attitude that made me suspect something so I went on the Food Standards website and checked this place out. It was last evaluated in March 2019 and was recorded as a 1!!!! Clearly we went somewhere else that evening.The restaurant from the doorway looked clean etc so it may be that they have been investing since this report was issued but you may like to check it out to confirm that a new rating has been issued before visiting.

A modern restaurant with nice decor. The food is very good and plentiful. The staff are friendly. You can also take your own drinks in.

Please do not eat here. I ordered chicken tikka, ate it and then realised the food hygiene rating is 1 out of 5- awful!! I’ve felt sick and had stomach cramp ever since, I will not go back.

We ordered a takeaway from here, and waited over 2 hrs! When they finally got here, they had gone back to the restaurant before we even got to the door. Disgraceful service. I am sure they do lovely food but they should seriously work on service and deliveries.

Terrible service - food was ordered via JustEat at 18:30 Tuesday evening, not arrived by 21:30, no apology or explanation. The story... We ordered thru just eat and waited patiently for a couple of hours, and two hours later at half past 8 we’d not had a courtesy call to explain the delay so we called to enquire where it was. We were abruptly told it was on its way with no apology. Another hour goes by and by this time it’s 21:30, the phone rings and we’ve received a text to voice message off the delivery driver telling us he has run out of phone credit and asking us to call him back!!! We called, he was back at the takeaway already. Spoke to the manager & No apology. No offer of refund. No explanation. Needless to say we’ll never order again from this incompetent rude place. If we could give 0 stars we would.

0 hygiene rating to 1 hygiene rating. Anything under a 3 is bad. Food has gone down hill and I have stopped ordering takeout and eating in. Rice a lot of the time has been reheated. Not had bad meat, or been ill. Disheartening, as they were great.

2 currys ordered. Got served raw chicken with blood in not even pink! They refunded 1 curry sauce but not the rice! Discovered that the last 2 health inspections scored zero and 1 out of 5. The 1 star was generous. Avoid unless you have a death wish

First time visit using a groupon voucher.Beautiful food. I asked for chicken tikka dupiaza with less oil so it was more healthy. Beautifully cooked and very tasty. My mum got butter chicken. She said it was lovely (more of a sweet mild dish). Will certainly come back. Thank you!

Smart restaurant & friendly staff.

The worst curry I've ever had the experience of tasting. Avoid at all costs! Ordered a take away order Saturday night. Pre ordered for delivery at 5.30 and didn't bother turning up till 7 I've never had a indian takeaway burn a popadom before. Half of it was uncooked and half of it burnt. How the hell does that pass a quality check. The chef should be ashamed sending that excuse for food out. Ordered a vindaloo and it was unbeatable. You could taste the whole tub of curry powder the chef used in the back of your throat. A true chef can get heat with the sauce not having to put a tub of curry powder on top for heat.

Nicest Indian take away this end of the Wirral

Ordered a take away for delivery via Just eat - Site advised 19.10 delivery this then changed to 19.25 - I called at 19.45 to ask if on route was told still waiting for driver, food arrived at 20.10 - when it arrived it was ALL cold and something had leaked in bag meaning there was greasy dye over all the containers and in turn went all over the kitchen. Food was average might have been nice had it not sat out for 40 mins waiting to be delivered. Wouldn't go back EVER.

Once again it’s time for Super Scrimpers eating out night, this time we are going to try a bit of Tandoori. Have a root around on the Groupie site and you can still find places on the Wirral saying that lovely word “discount” but do go early as it helps the restaurant and also you don’t get any hysterical hens on Heineken, or male foghorns on full blast. The Village Tandoori in Claughton is surprisingly big inside and immaculate with very good service. A few Poppadoms with dips to start with, followed by Chicken rolls piping hot and tasty mixed Kebabs, then Salmon and green beans, Garlic chicken and Pilau rice, accompanied by a glass of house white, excellent and great value for us senile citizens at £25.40. Don’t forget your voucher to get the discount, and order more if you are a descendant of the Dyson family, keeeeep eating.

Love this place - friendly staff, superb meals each time. The menu has a good selection of starts and plenty of choices of main meals for the different palates in my household. Drinks can be bought in-house or brought-with-you but without any nonsense “corkage” charge.

We have regular meals from here but had the worst ever yesterday. Chicken was fatty and not cut in the usual way. Has the chef changed? Very greasy (as the previous time) and inedible. Need to reconsider our regular Indian.

Ordered 2 chicken balti, naan bread and pilau rice, arrived in good time, roasting hot and dead tasty, no complaints, I generally cook all my own Indian meals from scratch and I know a decent meal when I taste one, this was definately as good as I have ever tasted and I do some cracking meals myself.

Every time we sail to Belfast we call here for a meal. It’s lovely to be welcomed by the staff who remember us and who are happy help by not making us wait for our meals. The customer service and staff attitude is exemplary; also the food is delicious and priced very reasonably.

Ordered takeaway and asked for naan to be well done .turned up incinirated and crumbled apart. I asked for a replacement and was told i had to collect.explained i couldnt and was told was no driver to deliver..i find that hard to believe at around 21.30 on a friday night.i asked person i spoke to if establishment was on trip advisor and was told not to make threats.i explaned i was not threaghtening just asking and fone was put down by this person.on a possative .ish.....the tikka starter was nice.chutneys where nice.the main had a lovelly spicey sauce.but was lacking in the amount of lamb.all i asked for was a decent naan bread to be dropped off.
