Great place to go for a meal but phone up first allways full

We have eaten at this restaurant a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. This time we opted for a take away, it was awful.... Nan breads were stale, 1 keema nan had a big hole in centre, lamb dupiaza was awful a few pieces of black looking meat that was both tasteless and hard to chew, I am unsure if it actually was lamb. The KP meal was tasteless, bland. So dissapointing when you know they can produce lovely tasty meals in house. We will never place an order with them again

Good quality food - a variety of standard Indian restaurant dishes and specials. Polite, welcoming and generally prompt service. Atmosphere fine for a small restaurant, but we did have some loud customers on a neighbouring table!

One of my regular eat out places. I've been to other curry houses, but this one has always served great dishes and I've never come away thinking I wish I hadn't eaten there, unlike other places. In short, it's a Lovely Balti restaurant, great service, great food and usually a busy and lively atmosphere.

A lovely atmosphere with excellent service and a superb selection of meals. Take your own alcohol which reduces the costs greatly. Consistantly good , can only recommend

Really stuck for something for dinner as we are on the Wirral county park camping and motor home site and nothing around here. Found this place on Google maps. They were so helpful. Delivered to the reception area where my husband was waiting. Food was hot and absolutely delicious and very generous portions. Will definitely order from here again if we are in the area.

Booked a table for 15 people, including a baby of 7 months asked for a place for a high chair, phoned again because two people had cancelled again told them we had a baby with us and needed a high chair . Arrived they didn’t have any high chairs (no other babies in the restaurant) . between myself and my partner we had to keep our daughter on our lap while eating our meal, feeding her and playing with high chair toys . Shes normally very good when we eat out, this spoilt our evening . The food was lovely, staff were rude.

Have had a real bad two visits,food is excellent but service by the elder gentleman is atrocious asking you to move because table is needed for a bigger group when you haven't even finished is just so rude,and when I approached him saying we won't be coming back his answer was,well that up to you, I really would think about booking if just for two 😩

Arrived at the restaurant about 5.30pm it was very quiet only two tables eating. We were seated and ordered our food. There was only two of us and we didn’t want starters so we ordered just poppadoms and a main course each with rice and nann’s etc. The restaurant soon started to get busy with people being turned away at the door. As soon as we finished our main course it was promptly cleared in and the bill placed in front of us!!?? Not asked if we wanted dessert or anything else? I found this odd and then it soon became apparent that they wanted us out the restaurant to seat other people? We hadn’t even been there an hour? Not at any point were we given a time limit on the table or anything? I said to my girlfriend “looks like dessert won’t be happening then?” A few minutes after the bill arriving a waiter arrived with the card machine so we paid but still had full drinks. The manager then came over and told us we had 2 minutes and he wanted the table back? How rude is that? He returned a few minutes later and said “I told you 5 minutes ago I wanted the table back we have customers waiting” I politely told him that we have literally been rushed in and out of here, no desserts offered or anything? He was rude to say the least. I know lots of people that use this restaurant and they will hear all about this that’s for sure. Shocking customer service. You have just lost further custom we shall eat elsewhere from now on.

I’ve lived nearby for over 20 years and have never been here before, a friend recommended it to me so we went along expecting good things and we were not disappointed. The food was really nice, tasty and beautifully presented. The portions were enough, but not over facing. The staff that work there are really nice and friendly. They don’t serve alcohol, but there is an off-licence across the road and you can bring your own alcohol. We will definitely be back again, really enjoyed the evening.

Wow I’m really particular about my curry and was dubious having this as a recommendation but wow what a find!!!! Chicken tikka starter was perfection and huge!! Tandoori prawn shashlik outstanding. Delivery on time and absolutely faultless will definitely be a regular

One of the best British Indian restaurant meals I've had, enjoying since the 60s so fairly well qualified to say that! King Prawns are to die for, Madras beautiful and the Special Pilau rice best I've ever had. Lovely staff, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Have been eating here for many years and can't fault the food or service. In the past they have gone above and beyond for special events. Personal to me including birthdays, and helping with RNLI events and gatherings with many settings. Thanks guys

I ordered a takeaway which i collected and half the takeaway was missing so the meal was ruined. They said they would give me discount on my next order, but when I tried to do that a few weeks later the guy on the phone was rude offered me a free poppadom. They also charge £3.50 for a chapati daylight robbery!

I have visited over many years and am pleased to say that I enjoy it more every time. It's a casual reataurant and the staff are friendly and take the time to advise on what to order. They will ask the kitchen to adjust the heat levels to accommodate all tastes. It suits to take our own alcohol as we pop into bargain booze on the way. Tasty food, generous portions, friendly staff. I look forward to our next visit.

6 of us had a fantastic night here last night. Food was absolutely superb. We took our own alcohol, and the staff kindly provided glasses and bottle opener/ corkscrew. A special thank you for making my lovely king prawn madras slightly cooler. We will return.

We have visited this restaurant for many years and it never disappoints. The quality of the dishes are quite superb and they add new ideas to the menu regularly. Staff are always welcoming and helpful. Fantastic value for money. Long May this restaurant continue and once again thank you.

I am a real fan of Shuhel’s and have frequented the restaurant regularly over many years. The food is superb and I can honestly say I’ve never had a poor meal there. There is attentive and friendly service too which of course makes the difference and helps the evening go so well. My friends are equally impressed and eat there on a regular basis. One of my son’s lives in Liverpool but will without hesitation make the trip over here to West Kirby for a Shuhel’s experience. My wife loves the Chicken or lamb Shashlick or the dish with apricots. I love the hot Butter Chicken or the Benghali Murgh, but to be honest any dish is worth trying. One feature that does help especially in these times of rising costs is the ability to take your own alcohol. Soft drinks are to be purchased in house though. Our families from Cumbria can’t wait to visit when they come down and this is a clear sign that Shuhel’s gets a lot right. In addition, I’ve noticed an increase in customer numbers within the past year and this speaks volumes for the quality of food and service. Highly recommended. A superb restaurant in my view.

The food here rates 5/10 to 7/10. The younger waiters are pleasant and good humoured. The older, black haired guy with glasses is one of most unfriendly waiters I've experienced. On each visit he's not user friendly if a small group of (well behaved) 50+...

Food was good when salt was added but overall not much flavour unfortunately. Absolutely love the dhal. Great dish thats done right. But all the other meals and sides seemed a bit bland. I would go back but mainly because it seems really hard to find a decent Indian takeaway on the wirral these days.

Dreadful we arrived around 7.00pm they appeared to be in a rush by 8.10 we had had starters and main courses at which time the bill was put on the table which we hadnt asked for we were not asked if we wanted sweets or anything else the person serving us was more interested in wether we were paying cash or card as he wanted the table in 5 mins at no time were we told there was a restriction on time at table. We have all eaten at various places in the world but never experienced such bad service from an individual another person was very appologetic on the way out and stated next time we would have more time .Dont think we will be going back. 6th aug

Absolutely heaving on our chance Friday night visit. The staff managed to find a table for 5 after a 20 minute wait. Food was excellent, a bit hotter than the average curry house. Service was good despite the packed house. It's a BYOB establishment. Highly recommended

Went there last night no social distancing dirty scruffy del drivers going into kitchen wore no masks loads people crowding door to wait for takeaway.people standing near your table no masks waited ages for meal.priority given to takeaway eight people in the doorway as you go in no masks.not very friendly staff either and got food eventually meal was cold and the rice

Only issue was the position of the table, right in an alcove, made it difficult to get in and out, slightly claustrophobic feel. But food was great.

We called in at 5.50 pm on Saturday after phoning to book a table for two, We got our poppadoms at about 6.00pm and then it was 6.55pm before our curries were delivered. 55 minutes to eat two poppadums when you can’t even buy a beer is actually ridiculous. My Coke was flat but they did change it and not charge, The food is of a good standard but my curry was cold (temperature wise). They seem completely disorganised. Whilst waiting the world and his wife were going past with takeaways, They obviously prioritised phone orders. Needs proper management but has potential. The social distancing got forgotten as take away customers came in. Staff did wear masks but the screens separating the tables were too narrow and didn’t do the job,

Amazing food, amazing service and amazing staff.

Competent Indian cooking, rather than extraordinary. The food will not disappoint. But reviewing a week after the visit, it is difficult to remember the finer details as they weren't outstanding enough. The real bonus with Shuhel is the bring your own alcohol, as they do not have their own license. It makes the meal out very good value. We've eaten here many times before, and taken deliveries. We'll be back for more good value tasty Indian cuisine.

Absolutely fantastic takeaway curry.Ordered as our holiday let was a mere 100yards away. Extremely impressed. 4 meals and each was cooked perfectly, very tasty and piping hot. Very happy with our choice, just disappointed that this couldn't become our new go to takeaway as we live 100miles away.

Disgusting phone Manor, we get various takeaway all the time n never have we been discriminated or spoke to like we are dirt, not only took ages to take our big order, wanted us to meet him at the bottom of the lane then hung up, then started laughing saying we are fooling him because we live on a local caravan site absolutely disgusting

In six weeks of lockdown we finally cracked tonight and ordered a takeaway. It's the best decision we could have made. It's the first time we've used Shuhel Balti for takeaway. Very polite on the phone, food ready quickly and great service with a smile when I picked up the food in the restaurant (contactless payment also) . Thank you. Ordered hot curry and got a mild one. When I phoned up. No apology or offer to change it. The meal was also like warm. Guy with the glasses. Think it's the owner _ when mentioned later . He just stared at me. Would never have happened in royal Bengal. Plus -check out how much meat in the byriani. About half a chicken breast for just under £10

This is the best Indian I've eaten in on Wirral and I'm not basing this on 1 visit, but multiple visits. The food always hits the spot, get decent portions and nicely priced. On take out if you visit 8 times on the 9th you get a free starter and main course which is exceptional offer.We always get the Garlic Chili Chicken Tikka Fried and if you like hot dishes, you will not be disappointed.Live this place.

We just got thrown out for ordering only starters and were informed we’d been told before. I’ve never been treated like that in any restaurant in any country. The man obviously had us confused with someone else, but I’ll never step foot inside there again. The food the first time was great and the service impeccable, but it looks like you have to pass some invisible minimum order quantity level to get served at all.

Recommended for a broad curry menu. The parathas as ace! Love that the portions are just right... too many places simply serve too much food.

Visited Shuhel Balti with family for Christmas Eve. The starters where good and the flavour of all the meals however I felt that the curry could have contained more meat. I didn't feel that the staff were very welcoming and would have liked more service with a smile. We were disappointed to find we had been overcharged by 10.00 which wouldn't have been realised had we not been splitting the bill. Would not rush back .

We go to the Shuhel and also order takeaways frequently. Great food and great value, especially as BYO. The staff are always lovely. Highly recommended and very consistent. In particular, I love the tandoori mixed grill - you can ask them to change the vegetable side / sauce and I always ask for Madras which really does it for me. I can not fault the place and always have an enjoyable meal there.

I have left a review on the website and was informed after leaving it that it ‘may’ appear on their website. Judging by the fact that there are only 5* reviews on their website I’m guessing they only choose to add these reviews, misleading customers.We ordered 6 meals and 5 were rubbish. The hot butter chicken was not hot in the least and was unpleasantly sweet and full of coconut. Chicken chat was unpleasantly sweet. Veggie sides were bland at best and the matar paneer was inedible and nothing like matar paneer I’ve ever had before. Lamb jalfrezi has a generic bland sauce and the lamb wasn’t tender. Naga chicken was ok. I’ve eaten many Indian meals and this wasn’t good at all. Wouldn’t return.

Have been a regular customer for many years at this restaurant since it first opened. Visited it with a group of friends who have also regularly eaten there. When asked what was available for dairy free customer was told “go to an English restaurant”. We eventually coaxed out of him a meal that was dairy free! When the food arrived it wasn’t great. Customer service really does need to improve and add items or be more prepared for customers who have intolerances. We’ve been to many Indian restaurants who can.

Our first visit since moving back to the area. Friendly and helpful staff who do not hassle you (a lot of Indian restaurants ask what you want before you have even sat down)!Food was piping hot and very delicious.Please note that this restaurant is not licensed to sell any alcoholic drinks, but you are welcome to take your own. You have to purchase any sof drinks as you cannot take your own.To sum up my likes/dislikes: I like my food piping hot, it has to taste good and I hate waiters hanging around you all the time. This restaurant came through with flying colours. Just one more thing: The level of the music volume was just right.

Shuhel Balti is our local restaurant in West Kirby. This is not the first time we have visited, but probably the last. The food is always good, however the service is absolutely terrible, to be frank the staff are rude and complacent. They need to restore customer service before we return. As i can see from your reviews this is a known problem.
