Lovely food and attentive service. It’s obvious how hard the team works! It’s clear they are short staffed yet the staff are running miles and managing to provide outstanding service! I really feel for them! However cannot fault them! Will certainly return, hopefully they will have more staff soon!

Had lunch there today, 5 in our group, 4 of us ordered carvery and 1 ordered chicken nuggets and chips. The chicken nuggets took 40 minutes to appear after I had to enquire their whereabouts, at which point we had all eaten out carvery so that person had to eat on their own. The carrots were over cooked , peas hard. Was offered 1 ice cream as compensation which we didn't accept. Poor service rude uninterested young man on the pizza counter who didn't offer any help.

On the 9th December 2017 the club held its Christmas dinner here, in total there were70 members. The meal was superb with hardly any waiting at the carvery. The carvery was completed with all sitting down inside 20 minutes. The food was excellent piping hot and tasty. The staff were faultless in serving and being attentive to our needs on the evening, all in all a very good evening. We will be coming here again next year.

We decided to call in here at 6pm on a Saturday evening, we were welcomed and seated straight away. I had heard mixed reviews so was a little dubious. We needn't have been. It was cheap and cheerful. The staff were all lovely, the food was nice the place was pleasant. What more could you ask for? I would happily eat here again.

Second visit to the Village Inn on Monday of this week. Son adores the 12” margarita pizza, this is always cooked to order and looks amazing. I had the carvery - the meat was dry and bland (had the beef) but the veggies were fine. Husband had the Stetson burger which was huge! With drinks for all of us, this came to £30 in total so we really can’t complain For first time visitors, the set up can be a bit confusing as you walk up to the bar to order as soon as you arrive and there are no menus etc to assist you as you queue. Maybe some big chalkboards with the selections can be added in that area? Service is fine, although I have always had to go on a cutlery hunt as the pots on the table have never had enough for us!

I had two meals there recently. The first was a Sunday lunchtime, and the place was quite full. There was one woman at the bar, and she was obviously totally overwhelmed. I think there was another member of staff there somewhere but it took a while to get served. The meat wasn't bad, a bit tasteless, but the vegetables were awful - rubbery or soggy, either because they were boiled in the bag for a bit too long or had been sat around for ages. Two of us had pizzas which took ages and were overcooked. The toilets were dirty, really unpleasant.I visited again with a large family party for breakfast, and I booked the table in advance. The same woman was there, with no other front of house to be seen. I asked about our table, only to be told she had given it to someone else. She managed to cobble together a table for us then marched off. There were no instructions about how to order, or that to get a cup of coffee you had to pay first for a cup. It was an absolute shambles with several people wondering around unable to find anyone to ask how they were supposed to get a drink. The breakfast buffet had nearly run out, and eventually someone appeared from the kitchen with some more. The food was indifferent and worse, cold. Tables were left uncleared for ages, there was food on the floor, and once again the toilets were horrible.Even at that price, it was poor value for money. I would rather pay more for something half decent. It is a real shame, it could be a nice pub but lacks in almost every way possible.

Since being taken over by stonehouse things have improved. The decor has changed and overall the dirty sticky feeling has gone and been replaced with a fresher feel. Food wise breakfast is exceptional value for money. The carvery is much better than it was but replenishment levels are a bit hit and miss depending on times. Overall it's value for Money.

Visited a couple of years ago before it became the "stonehouse pizza and carvery" didn't think much to it then but thought would return now they offer pizzas and burgers on the menu and heard it was quite nice now.....i do not think so. Absolutely ridiculous set up in the restaurant and no real table service so obvious cut backs have been made, ordered a burger meal and was given a device thing that lets you know when you can go and collect your burger which happens to be in the middle of the carvery que so you have to push in to get it then again to get to the salad bar and chips which is all next to the carvery everyone in the que glares at you because you are having to push in to get your salad etc to prevent your meal going cold. The burger was served on a baking tray never seen anything quite like it not sure if they ran out of plates or somthing. There was no cutlery or napkins on the table and theres was a snail trail on the carpet around our table. It hasn't improved at all certainly will not return poor value no organisation and if anything quite a stressful meal out.

Visited at tea time. Ordered a main course pizza and asked if we could order desert after main course which they said was fine. However when we did order our desert we were charged full price not the reduced meal deal price as we had failed to mention the words'meal deal' when we first ordered! Front of house Staff became very defensive ( they stopped calling me darling at this point) and refused to take any blame so we left. Normally ok for a cheap no frill meal but not when unfriendly service also comes with it. Loverly young waitress was very embarrassed when she brought the desert out as we were leaving. Kitchen staff were also pleasant.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night, arrived late so was fairly quiet. We had one carvery which the staff were very generous with (possibly due to the time of night) and a pizza. Pizza was also massive, I would say both were excellent value (pizza one of the most expensive on menu and still under a tenner). Perhaps not one for the fine-diner, but perfectly good food and friendly staff make it very good value for money in my opinion. Quick and efficient, no complaints at all.

One man behind bar which was not enough , more bar staff required at lunchtime. But worst of all was the ladies toilets , one completely blocked and terrible smell and the other not clean with no toilet paper. Having been to the Village Inn several times previously, I thought I would try the battered fish instead of the carvery. I ordered the fish and waited a few minutes until it was ready. It certainly looked good and quite a generous portion but I was rather disappointed with the actual fish which certainly not cod or haddock and was very watery and a bit slimy.I ate what I could but just could finish it.

Was our first visit to the restaurant and were very confused when entering as there are no staff to greet you. Once we sat down we found it very difficult to chat as the ice cream machine was extremely noisy. The venue was also very hot and almost unbearable, I wouldn't want to imagine how hot it will be on a hot summer day. The food was fairly cheap and you definitely got what you paid for, the carvery was basic and not particularly appealing to the eye. The gravy was like something from kitchen nightmares it was lumpy and congealed. The pizza was pathetic, pale and tasteless. The desserts were probably the best part of the meal, they were only £1.50 when ordered with the meal. They were still very basic and came out lukewarm, were ok for the price paid.

The Village Inn at Little Melton has changed hands recently to become the current Pizza and Carvery. The pizzas from what I saw are abysmal: undercooked, thin and tasteless. The carvery is adequate but that's all I can say on that. Veges limited and some under-cooked. The staff is minimal and so find it difficult to keep up with customer needs e.g. lack of cutlery at the tables, running out of veges and gravy. There seems to be no-one checking that type of aspect and you have to wait for quite a while for top-ups whilst your food is getting cold.

For the price this place is great carvery for 4.59 or something similar with a choice of three meats yorkshire pudding and vegetables its great my personal favourite at the moment is the pizzas 12 inches for around £7 cooked in a proper pizza oven in front of you. Pager system to tell you to come and collect your food is interesting but if it makes the food cheap rather than have lots of waitresses I'm not going to complain. The only bad points I can raise is that it takes a while when they are busy to clear your table, drinks tend to be a little on the pricey side and the tables don't always seem that clean but for the price I would go

Having visited about a month ago at which time we were impressed by the nice carvery, we decided to return last night. This time we found both the meat particularly beef and veg, what little there was left in the servery, to be overcooked and somewhat tasteless. Staffing levels seemed at a minimum, with the two waitresses looking after the main restaurant working like one armed paper hangers to keep up. Many customers who had ordered food other than from the carvery were complaining that they had been waiting 20 to 30 minutes for their orders due to poor delivery from the kitchen. I myself ordered a dessert from the menu, gave up waiting after 25 minutes and left. What a shame this place could be a little gold mine, but never seems to have any leadership in place.

We regularly pop in the Village Inn at Little Melton when we are out that way throughout the day they offer a buffet of either breakfast or a carvery of well prepared simple fare a salad bar and pizza oven have been added to give a selection anyone can find something to enjoy at prices it would be hard to match if you prepared it yourself at home. The eat as much as you like buffet is always well stocked if you can avoid the one o'clock peak ease of selection is better as this is a popular and busy place and rightly so. The staff are pleasant and helpful there is plenty for children and the serve yourself ice cream always a big hit with young and old. We went for a Sunday Carvery and the kids had a pizza each around £7 - they enjoyed them, but I didn't feel they were excellent with bought in causes and frozen toppings. The Carvery requires a bit of a que to order and then a wait to get it - - best to book on a Sunday. Ok choice really friendly service, meat tender but over-cooked. Nice roasties, standard frozen yorkies - fresh carrots but frozen peas, sweed and parsnips - so not great. Then you have to walk through the sue to get to the gravy and sauces - could be better designed.

We'd been recommended and read the mixed reviews - it is what it is - a cheap Carvery pub offering pizzas on the side and the other usual suspects for the freezer. There are no prices on the web which is frustrating and they never picked up the phone - the Sunday carvery is £7.99 as were the pizzas. Quite a big que to pay, and another for the carvery - but it soon went by. The usual 4 meats over cooked but averagely ok - pre cut boiled sweed, cauliflower 'not much cheese sauce', frozen peas, frozen parsnips, quite good roasties, packet ok stuffing, frozen yorkies and some sliced fresh carrots. You have to go to the other side for the sauces and gravy - through the que and through the walk back to the restaurant - its like crossing the A47.

We live in Little Melton and had been sad at the state of our local which seemed to be going from bad to worse. We feared the day was coming where we would no longer have a pub in our village yet didn't want to support it. The interior was dirty, in fact the whole place had a grubby and unkempt feel. Obviously we were not tempted to eat there. I am shocked to read some of the negative comments since George the new landlord has taken over. He has transformed the Village Inn, it's now clean and fresh. Staff are always friendly and the dart board and pool table have encouraged more people to use the bar area. Bar food, pizza etc. is excellent. We now have some fantastic nights in our local again. Thanks George.

The Village Inn accommodated our whole primary school (in two sittings) for Christmas lunch this week. The staff coped brilliantly with the large numbers and were extremely helpful, making the whole thing run smoothly. Thank you to Linda and Alexa for all your hard work. The children enjoyed the carvery and had a great time.

First visit since the refurbishment. Price has done up from £4-39. Still good value though. Managed to go on a night when a party of 30 were eating. Vegetables were restocked quickly and the lad carving the meat was doing a splendid fast job. We had some turkey and gammon. Both were fine, particularly the gammon, decent slices and very tender and tasty. Gravy was grim as usual but I have the gravy that the onions are cooked in, very tasty.

I had a carvery meal yesterday, unfortunately the meal was spoiled by vegetables that were very unpleasant. Sprouts overcooked. Carrot overcooked. Roast potatoes were not crisp & they tasted as though the oil/fat was old/rancid. The beef was tough.

After using "The Village Inn" for many years I am afraid that my visit yesterday will be my last. On the previous occasion it was unsatisfactory, poor quality of food, not very hot, and the meat from the Carvery was tough. We thought that every establishment can have an off day so went back yesterday. My husband and I had the Carvery and my daughter a chicken wrap from the main menu. Our drinks were served in dirty water marked glasses. The cutlery on the table was not clean, and you had to handle them from the prongs and blades first to get them from their container. We went to the Carvery , my husband had the last yorkshire pudding, so I opted for the meat pie. We both had vegetables and potatoes. Both our vegetables were over cooked, bland tasting and clearly not fresh. The potatoes were not very hot. I required a pneumatic drill to pierce the pastry on my pie, very hard and dried up. My daughter waited ages for a chicken wrap, this was just dumped on the top of the servery, very little chicken, and again not very hot. This is such a shame as we always enjoyed the place in the past, but no more.

This is my elderly parents favourite places to eat and the place they choose for all family celebrations. Bear in mind that they tend to come when it's quieter - i.e. lunchtimes and mainly during the week. On this occasion I was visiting them on Thursday evening and suggested that we go out. We probably arrived about 6pm and there were quite a few people in both the bar and the eating areas.

Nice food, friendly service, cutlery and glassware is sometimes dirty but we go here fairly often and the food is always cooked well and enjoyable, great to go with family and friends for a good meal or even just a drink and a game of pool

Met a friend here for a drink and returned later for lunch. Great looking place. Very clean but really let down by very poor service. First trip to the bar and staff more interested in taking to her friend who was apparently on their day off than serving me. I was eventually served with a hot chocolate. then my friend arrived so I went to get her a hot chocolate too only to be charged a different price. After a walk round the village we returned for some lunch. The young man who served us said that they had a deal on but was totally unable to describe what it was and we ended up paying more for what we had than what we had asked for.when challenged about this the young man got even more confused and confusing so we just let it go. Had to wait a long while for the chef to come and serve us. Food was OK and what I would expect for the price.

Went here one Saturday after being in city so me and family decided to have a village pub meal. Mmmmmm big mistake we all went for the carvery, to wait 15 min at bar to be served was a joke. So to the food I had the gammon ( very salty ) and Turkey ( very dry ) the veg looked like it was there for a month all shrivelled up. Sat down this scruffy looking man came up and asked everything ok to my reply no but least to say he walked off, pudding was heated in the microwave and slapped on a plate. The next day least to say I was ill will never recommend this place to any one just another one of them castle carvery places that take no interest in their food or customer service skills.

This use to be a nice place to visit but gone down hill, the place do look respectable inside and out, it was only slightly unclean could be rectified easily, meat was nice and lots of roasted potatoes but short on vegetables , deserts were poor with ice cream looking like a bowl of soup not a sundae , people around were us were complaining, you can find much better for the same money not far away.

We visited for the first time since the refurb for my sister's birthday and it does look a lot nicer. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews but maybe they're getting on top of things now.

It is a carvery not a restaurant. Service at the bar is so slow I grew a beard while waiting. You'd think there would be more people behind the bar. Eventually got my order in and after asking if they had turkey and being told yes, when I got to counter was told it's still being cooked & would be another half hour. Food was bland. Better carverys about.

We haven't been here for a while but decided to try it out following the refurbishment. Our family order was nne mac and cheese, one chicken and ribs and one half chicken - on ordering my husband was told that there was only one piece of chicken available so being a gentleman he changed his order to allow me to have the chicken. The person taken the order then said she had 'reserved' the bit of chicken for me. Half and hour later and the pager went off to say that the meals were ready. We were less than impressed at the wait. I arrived at the carvery to be told that they didn't have any chicken!! On expressing my annoyance was told that communication issues had meant that my piece of chicken had been given to someone else. I was also told that I could wait for an hour for the next bits of chicken to be cooked. I asked to speak to the manager to be told - he's not here and the person then walked away. I then asked to speak to whoever was in charge to be told the assistant manager would come and speak to me . I waited at least another ten minutes, whilst she served another couple of customers, for her to come over. To say she was dismissive would be an understatement. Her standpoint was that miscommunication happens, I could eat something else - she did begrudgingly say sorry. I asked how I could be compensated bearing in mind I didn't get the meal I ordered and now my companions were nearly finished eating - she offered a free dessert. On saying that I didn't think I would want a dessert in light of the problems we had and that it had taken half an hour for the food to arrive she began to walk away. I had then ask again how I was to be compensated and her reply was 'I am going to get you a refund' in a tone that resembled Harry Endfield's 'Kevin the teenager'. A very disappointing experience at what could be a great eating place.

Well we have used this pub carvery for a number of years since the days of the £2.99 carvery and it was always good not great but good food, but the last couple of times we have been it has been terrible. My beef was full of grissel chewy and inedible small meat portions the carver was weighing the meat portions on your plate something I have never seen in all my years of eating out a many many carveries. I complained and was contacted by the manager and promised some money off vouchers but these never appeared.

The revamp looked good but the food is not so good.Presentation was not so good and choice of veg was poor. No greens at all only peas and sweetcorn.Ok if you like chasing veg around your plate.Pull your socks up Village Inn or you'll lose all your customers

Decided to go for an evening meal today, as we have visited before we knew it would be busy. Car park was virtually empty so thought we were in luck. The refurb looks great by the way. I opted for the Chicken and the wife Mac and Cheese. I went to order, chicken was a 40 minutes wait so no chicken dishes available and no Mac and Cheese, this was 5 pm. I would have thought this was your popular time for diners, obviously very poor planning, may give it a miss until it's sorted. Not very convinced with the new set up.Decided to leave and go to the Copper Beech., I think were had finished our meal before your chicken was done.

Been a regular visitor to this pub and hasn't been since the refurb so was keen to give it a try. Looks fab! Meal however we where disappointed with. Meats all chewy and fatty. Lack of vegetables and despite asking if any more there was a wait and some not being replenished. Ordered the carvery and pudding meal deal so our pudding order was made before we had any food. Had to wait at least 30 mins for plates to be taken away. Then another 45 mins for puddings to come out. Chased waiter a few times to be hold its busy! Finally these arrived but no apology. Two waiting staff on dealing with both dining rooms. More staff are needed!

Has been painted and cleaned . But food and staff very poor. Table next to us we could hear them chatting and they waited 45 minutes for someone to come clean table and ask about pudding but no one ever came and they left . They did complain . But don't think the staff cared . The Man serving behind bar was so miserable. And fella serving meat just slapped the meat on your plate and amount you got was rubbish. There was Food on floor by the carvery and gravy station dirty . 6 of us and our familys use this place regular and for breakfast . Not to keen any more . Ok having cheap food but you still want to be treated right. Given this place good reports in the past .Sorry it's gone down drastically like this ...

Thought we'd try the £6.49 meal deal as advertised. On ordering we were told the chicken had an hrs wait so I decided to have sausages and my husband the pie. When I got to the carvery there was one sausage left and was told the other two would be brought to the table but didn't arrive. My husbands our was like concrete. We complained and were told by the manager /waiter/ barman that he would sort it and we could have a refund. We waited for a while but no sign of him coming back to the table so went back to the queue which by this time was nearly out if the door. We told the lady on the till about our complaint and about the place being understaffed and she agreed and was on the verge of tears. A waitress came over to us and said here's £10 off the manager who seemed to have disappeared into thin air. All very unprofessional and needless to say we won't be returning

Stopping over in Diss for lunch on the way to the Suffolk coast, came across this cafe, looked inviting enough, with spaces inside. Coffee was very good - cappucchino and americano, and the New Yorker sandwich was wholesome tasty and very satisfying. Friendly service noted. Recommended!

I thought afternoon tea here would be something special to celebrate a birthday but unfortunately it wasn't. The table we were allocated was right next to the counter where people stood drinking, chatting and paying (I believe they might have been staff from the business centre). When I commented on this to a member of staff she said they would soon be gone, but then more came and stood there for some considerable time. The table was undecorated and the teapot and cups plain. One of the teaspoons was dirty and had to be replaced. There was nothing special about it whatsoever. It was just like being in a cafe which you go in for just a coffee. Not afternoon tea special at all. It was more expensive than many in the Norwich area so I thought the experience would be reflected in the price. But it clearly wasn't. The food was nice, nothing special, only 2 different filling in the sandwiches. The scones were good, the cakes ok, but again nothing special. The staff were busy but quite friendly. I would not recommend The Orangery for an afternoon tea experience. I came away feeling very let down and disappointed from what I thought was going to be an enjoyable afternoon.

I telephoned to check if dogs were welcome, and they were! We visited after a muddy trip to the woods. The staff were super accommodating and welcoming. The dog was provided with water and biscuits and we ordered the most delicious cakes, panini and hot chocolate. Unfortunately we did muddy up where we were sitting a bit but we were reassured this was absolutely not a problem. We will definitely be returning. Really lovely visit.

What a little gem this is, fantastic pastries, cakes etc Coffees and much more. I had a breakfast sourdough ciabatta with sausage and egg which I highly recommend. Staff very friendly and the there is a nice outside sitting area too. Reasonably priced for the quality food. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting the area. Added bonus the lovely rivers walks are a minute away so you can walk that lovely breakfast etc off. Oops nearly forgot dog friendly too. Thanks for a lovely breakfast see you again soon.
