Today we tried the mega pizzas , WOW they are huge ! Great for my couple of TRex kids ,we had 3 pizzas between the 4 of us and couldn't finish them all ,my kids especially liked the "cheese burger pizza" and said it tastes Just like a Macdonalds burger! Nice to see the manager Darren ,who as always ,made time to have a chat and a laugh ,he always takes time to chat to the kids and made them laugh by trying to get them to do the washing up! We will be back soon when are near Norwich again , Cliff and family.

We went for a festive meal on Christmas Eve. The tomato soup was delicious and I liked the Ratouille tart. It was our second time of visiting on Christmas Eve and we would definitely choose this date again as we all enjoyed the experience.

We had to choose a local restaurant nearby after walking with our two young grandchildren. Knowing that going to a regular restaurant can be a waste of time & money due to fickle young tastebuds we chose The Village inn. It was a bank holiday Monday so we expected it to be heaving and maybe a no goer. However it wasn’t too busy so we sat down in the bar area together with our dog. ( yes…. the bar lounge is dog friendly !🙌🙌) We ordered 3 regular carveries and two fish fingers chips and peas for the two boys. Sadly on this day we were told that they were short staffed, so although you could queue Fairly quickly for the carvery the fish fingers were a special order ! we waited quite a while for these to arrive, so our waitress kindly waived the second order of drinks. She was very helpful all through our dining experience. However when I arrived for my carvery serving had stopped whilst a couple of Deliveroo orders were completed. This frustrated those in the queue Esp those with half the food on their plates and I arrived back with my meal after the others had finished. The veg dishes were slow to replenish so not a decent choice for a while, and the normally plentiful gravy had disappeared ( the replacement for this was far too thin and very dark. Gravy is really important to get 100% right ! Staff were obviously spread too thin plus too much time spent serving Deliveroo orders. These takeaway orders should be temporarily stopped if you’re short staffed, as customers in the queue were kept waiting far too long. The carving chef was doing his best and was obviously multi tasking having to replenish empty veg serving dishes, but it was a fairly messy & muddled affair. The Meat was great as usual and most of the potatoes and veg were fine apart from a little overcooking on one or two of the greens. But they were under pressure yet Still coping ! Under the circumstances they managed well. Perhaps all staff can be trained To multitask so when the bar or other areas are a bit slow, staff can be transferred to the kitchen / food service ?

Had lunch there today, 5 in our group, 4 of us ordered carvery and 1 ordered chicken nuggets and chips. The chicken nuggets took 40 minutes to appear after I had to enquire their whereabouts, at which point we had all eaten out carvery so that person had to eat on their own. The carrots were over cooked , peas hard. Was offered 1 ice cream as compensation which we didn't accept. Poor service rude uninterested young man on the pizza counter who didn't offer any help.

Second visit to the Village Inn on Monday of this week. Son adores the 12” margarita pizza, this is always cooked to order and looks amazing. I had the carvery - the meat was dry and bland (had the beef) but the veggies were fine. Husband had the Stetson burger which was huge! With drinks for all of us, this came to £30 in total so we really can’t complain For first time visitors, the set up can be a bit confusing as you walk up to the bar to order as soon as you arrive and there are no menus etc to assist you as you queue. Maybe some big chalkboards with the selections can be added in that area? Service is fine, although I have always had to go on a cutlery hunt as the pots on the table have never had enough for us!

I had two meals there recently. The first was a Sunday lunchtime, and the place was quite full. There was one woman at the bar, and she was obviously totally overwhelmed. I think there was another member of staff there somewhere but it took a while to get served. The meat wasn't bad, a bit tasteless, but the vegetables were awful - rubbery or soggy, either because they were boiled in the bag for a bit too long or had been sat around for ages. Two of us had pizzas which took ages and were overcooked. The toilets were dirty, really unpleasant.I visited again with a large family party for breakfast, and I booked the table in advance. The same woman was there, with no other front of house to be seen. I asked about our table, only to be told she had given it to someone else. She managed to cobble together a table for us then marched off. There were no instructions about how to order, or that to get a cup of coffee you had to pay first for a cup. It was an absolute shambles with several people wondering around unable to find anyone to ask how they were supposed to get a drink. The breakfast buffet had nearly run out, and eventually someone appeared from the kitchen with some more. The food was indifferent and worse, cold. Tables were left uncleared for ages, there was food on the floor, and once again the toilets were horrible.Even at that price, it was poor value for money. I would rather pay more for something half decent. It is a real shame, it could be a nice pub but lacks in almost every way possible.

Visited a couple of years ago before it became the "stonehouse pizza and carvery" didn't think much to it then but thought would return now they offer pizzas and burgers on the menu and heard it was quite nice now.....i do not think so. Absolutely ridiculous set up in the restaurant and no real table service so obvious cut backs have been made, ordered a burger meal and was given a device thing that lets you know when you can go and collect your burger which happens to be in the middle of the carvery que so you have to push in to get it then again to get to the salad bar and chips which is all next to the carvery everyone in the que glares at you because you are having to push in to get your salad etc to prevent your meal going cold. The burger was served on a baking tray never seen anything quite like it not sure if they ran out of plates or somthing. There was no cutlery or napkins on the table and theres was a snail trail on the carpet around our table. It hasn't improved at all certainly will not return poor value no organisation and if anything quite a stressful meal out.

Visited at tea time. Ordered a main course pizza and asked if we could order desert after main course which they said was fine. However when we did order our desert we were charged full price not the reduced meal deal price as we had failed to mention the words'meal deal' when we first ordered! Front of house Staff became very defensive ( they stopped calling me darling at this point) and refused to take any blame so we left. Normally ok for a cheap no frill meal but not when unfriendly service also comes with it. Loverly young waitress was very embarrassed when she brought the desert out as we were leaving. Kitchen staff were also pleasant.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night, arrived late so was fairly quiet. We had one carvery which the staff were very generous with (possibly due to the time of night) and a pizza. Pizza was also massive, I would say both were excellent value (pizza one of the most expensive on menu and still under a tenner). Perhaps not one for the fine-diner, but perfectly good food and friendly staff make it very good value for money in my opinion. Quick and efficient, no complaints at all.

Was our first visit to the restaurant and were very confused when entering as there are no staff to greet you. Once we sat down we found it very difficult to chat as the ice cream machine was extremely noisy. The venue was also very hot and almost unbearable, I wouldn't want to imagine how hot it will be on a hot summer day. The food was fairly cheap and you definitely got what you paid for, the carvery was basic and not particularly appealing to the eye. The gravy was like something from kitchen nightmares it was lumpy and congealed. The pizza was pathetic, pale and tasteless. The desserts were probably the best part of the meal, they were only £1.50 when ordered with the meal. They were still very basic and came out lukewarm, were ok for the price paid.

The Village Inn at Little Melton has changed hands recently to become the current Pizza and Carvery. The pizzas from what I saw are abysmal: undercooked, thin and tasteless. The carvery is adequate but that's all I can say on that. Veges limited and some under-cooked. The staff is minimal and so find it difficult to keep up with customer needs e.g. lack of cutlery at the tables, running out of veges and gravy. There seems to be no-one checking that type of aspect and you have to wait for quite a while for top-ups whilst your food is getting cold.

Pager system to tell you to come and collect your food is interesting but if it makes the food cheap rather than have lots of waitresses I'm not going to complain. The only bad points I can raise is that it takes a while when they are busy to clear your table, drinks tend to be a little on the pricey side and the tables don't always seem that clean but for the price I would go

Having visited about a month ago at which time we were impressed by the nice carvery, we decided to return last night. This time we found both the meat particularly beef and veg, what little there was left in the servery, to be overcooked and somewhat tasteless. Staffing levels seemed at a minimum, with the two waitresses looking after the main restaurant working like one armed paper hangers to keep up. Many customers who had ordered food other than from the carvery were complaining that they had been waiting 20 to 30 minutes for their orders due to poor delivery from the kitchen. I myself ordered a dessert from the menu, gave up waiting after 25 minutes and left. What a shame this place could be a little gold mine, but never seems to have any leadership in place.

The eat as much as you like buffet is always well stocked if you can avoid the one o'clock peak ease of selection is better as this is a popular and busy place and rightly so. We have used this venue before when we have a family gathering of mixed age groups and have always found it to be most welcoming. Rang and booked the table for 20, allowed to run a tab for drinks and food so could pay when we had finished. the whole party had drinks, carvery and sweets. Good portion of meat and ample selection of vegetables although some were a little over cooked. Good selection of sweets available , slight wait for the sweets as they were very busy but were warned before hand. Overall decent food at affordable price with good customer service.

We went for a Sunday Carvery and the kids had a pizza each around £7 - they enjoyed them, but I didn't feel they were excellent with bought in causes and frozen toppings. The Carvery requires a bit of a que to order and then a wait to get it - - best to book on a Sunday. Ok choice really friendly service, meat tender but over-cooked. Nice roasties, standard frozen yorkies - fresh carrots but frozen peas, sweed and parsnips - so not great. Then you have to walk through the sue to get to the gravy and sauces - could be better designed.

We'd been recommended and read the mixed reviews - it is what it is - a cheap Carvery pub offering pizzas on the side and the other usual suspects for the freezer. There are no prices on the web which is frustrating and they never picked up the phone - the Sunday carvery is £7.99 as were the pizzas. Quite a big que to pay, and another for the carvery - but it soon went by. The usual 4 meats over cooked but averagely ok - pre cut boiled sweed, cauliflower 'not much cheese sauce', frozen peas, frozen parsnips, quite good roasties, packet ok stuffing, frozen yorkies and some sliced fresh carrots. You have to go to the other side for the sauces and gravy - through the que and through the walk back to the restaurant - its like crossing the A47.

Had a lovely meal at the village inn. We arrived early evening before it got very busy. Staff were helpful and efficient, service very good. Most of us had the excellent carvery, a choice of turkey, beef or gammon with sausage, yorkie puds and lots of vegetables. The gravy was fab. Our children had kids meals, which were brilliant as they could choose their own salad or veg. The quality and portion sizes were very good - for the money you couldn't complain at all. We stayed after the meal for a drink and a game of pool, by that time people were queuing out the door. I'm not surprised, I wouldn't hesitate to return. Picture is of the enormous chocolate fudge cake pudding!

We live in Little Melton and had been sad at the state of our local which seemed to be going from bad to worse. We feared the day was coming where we would no longer have a pub in our village yet didn't want to support it. The interior was dirty, in fact the whole place had a grubby and unkempt feel. Obviously we were not tempted to eat there. I am shocked to read some of the negative comments since George the new landlord has taken over. He has transformed the Village Inn, it's now clean and fresh. Staff are always friendly and the dart board and pool table have encouraged more people to use the bar area. Bar food, pizza etc. is excellent. We now have some fantastic nights in our local again. Thanks George.

My dad treated me and my family and some friends to a meal here to celebrate his grandsons birththday. Have to admit was a pleasant surprise, since changing hands the place has had a good clean and a lick of paint made it more appealing. The staff who served us tonight, Megan, Owen, George and didn't get the chefs name were really friendly made us feel welcome.Food was well cooked and tasted very nice, the desserts were also very nice too. 9 of us in our party carvery and dessert and drinks for less than £90 can't really complain at that, and along with the afore mentioned all made it a really enjoyable experience.

First visit since the refurbishment. Price has done up from £4-39. Still good value though. Managed to go on a night when a party of 30 were eating. Vegetables were restocked quickly and the lad carving the meat was doing a splendid fast job. We had some turkey and gammon. Both were fine, particularly the gammon, decent slices and very tender and tasty. Gravy was grim as usual but I have the gravy that the onions are cooked in, very tasty.

I had a carvery meal yesterday, unfortunately the meal was spoiled by vegetables that were very unpleasant. Sprouts overcooked. Carrot overcooked. Roast potatoes were not crisp & they tasted as though the oil/fat was old/rancid. The beef was tough.

After using "The Village Inn" for many years I am afraid that my visit yesterday will be my last. On the previous occasion it was unsatisfactory, poor quality of food, not very hot, and the meat from the Carvery was tough. We thought that every establishment can have an off day so went back yesterday. My husband and I had the Carvery and my daughter a chicken wrap from the main menu. Our drinks were served in dirty water marked glasses. The cutlery on the table was not clean, and you had to handle them from the prongs and blades first to get them from their container. We went to the Carvery , my husband had the last yorkshire pudding, so I opted for the meat pie. We both had vegetables and potatoes. Both our vegetables were over cooked, bland tasting and clearly not fresh. The potatoes were not very hot. I required a pneumatic drill to pierce the pastry on my pie, very hard and dried up. My daughter waited ages for a chicken wrap, this was just dumped on the top of the servery, very little chicken, and again not very hot. This is such a shame as we always enjoyed the place in the past, but no more.

This is my elderly parents favourite places to eat and the place they choose for all family celebrations. Bear in mind that they tend to come when it's quieter - i.e. lunchtimes and mainly during the week. On this occasion I was visiting them on Thursday evening and suggested that we go out. We probably arrived about 6pm and there were quite a few people in both the bar and the eating areas.

A beautiful location, excellent food and attentive staff. However, after 75 minutes we were told that we would be asked to vacate our table soon. The restaurant and marquee only had three other tables in use, the majority of tables were empty with no reserved notice on them. 30 minutes later we were asked to leave. The indoor tables and marquee tables were still mostly empty. It was all rather uncomfortable and felt unwelcoming. The excellent food and beautiful location were completely overshadowed by us being asked to leave. I would understand if the tea room was busy and would have vacated our table, as I understand how important it is for businesses to make a profit in these uncertain times. I would have thought that any establishment would welcome having customers sitting at tables when a larger number of tables are empty, as it creates a visible sense of activity that can attract others. Seeing people already enjoying the space can reassure potential customers that the place is worth visiting. Personally, when I pass by a venue with empty or mostly empty seats, I can't help but wonder why. Some cafés, even prioritize keeping window seats occupied because it sends a message to passers by that the business is open and thriving. Ultimately, businesses rely on customers—and customers are human beings with emotions and needs. By understanding these needs and emotions, businesses can build stronger connections and, in turn, achieve greater success. As the saying goes, you may not remember someone's name but you will remember how they made you feel. I felt unwelcome and sadly will not be returning or recommending this location, which is a shame. Why 'sadly', because I felt the food on offer was excellent and the location beautiful. I'm sharing this as I hope the cafe reads this and realises they could be sabotaging what has the potential to be an amazing business.

A fabulous place for a special occasion, by no means cheap but a wonderful menu with great service . Can highly recommend the Brancaster mussels with nduja sauce to start, simply amazing ! My steak was cooked as I asked and came with lots of accompaniments. The only let down was my dessert of which was very small and didn’t really taste of much but all in all a fantastic experience.
