Village Inn/ Crown Carvery in South Norfolk

We went for a festive meal on Christmas Eve. The tomato soup was delicious and I liked the Ratouille tart. Darren and the rest of the staff were all very friendly and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. It was our second time of visiting on Christmas Eve and we would definitely choose this date again as we all enjoyed the experience.

Good food, friendly staff, Kiel the chef making things run smoothly. We opted for the small plates, washed down with a nice cold pint

Just had a superb Christmas day at the Village Inn. We love this restaurant already and Xmas day did not disappoint. Darren still found time to have a quick chat with us despite it being very busy, and gave our kids a couple of Santa sacks for the kids . The food and service were spot on. If our server lynn had not been so helpful and sorted our issue I would not have given such a good review. Breakfast was lovely my hubby was throughly enjoying his until I found a long black hair yukkkk spoke to lynn who was very apologetic who then spoke to the chef and managers. We got a full refund for the meal. Only complaint that I do have is the amount of people in and out the kitchen without hairnets this is not very good.

After a disastrous outing to the sister restaurant (townhouse) last week, we had been given a voucher to use. We decided to visit here today, and it’s was an amazing 10/10! Ordered with ease, we were extremely looked after by Lee. He’s a credit to your team, nothing was too much for Lee. The customer service he gave before and after we spoke about our visit to the Townhouse, he was incredibly! Keep up the good work Lee. Food & drink: the food was incredibly fresh, everything tasted delicious. No complaints at all regarding the carvery. Meat was extremely succulent and melted in the mouth, all the very was good to perfection. Drink, what can you say about the drink other than everything was to standard. Service: service was fantastic, we ordered at the bar because we had a voucher to use & everything was done with ease. Lee checked on us a couple of times as did the manager. As a result waitress myself I always look for the little things & when I tell you everything was fantastic and made us feel completely at ease. Dessert: we ordered a dessert but couldn’t fit it in unfortunately with the voucher we weren’t too fussed about this and told Lee to enjoy it for himself when he finishes his shift - which I hope he got to! Thank you so much for your impeccable customer service, we will definitely be returning!

Absolutely terrible experience turned up for lunch at 11.55 not many people sat at a table the table was not clean the carpet was covered in food ordered our food after 25 minutes asked where our food was the staff member then came back within minutes with our food Asked if we wanted anything else we asked for some sauces we were half way through our meals before the staff bought the sauces I had ordered fish and chips the fish was very dry and not at all tasty The peas were almost cold the chips were ok for the small amount of chips you get about a hand full was very disappointed paid £10 for dry fish a hand full of chips and warm peas I won’t be going back use to use the village inn a lot but it has definitely deteriorated I ha e had a lot better and larger portion of fish and chips from Morrison’s cafe and they only charge £7 and kids eat free So the village inn you need to do much much better

Been refurbed - looks nice. Both had carveries. Decent food and good selection thin of hot veg. Staff were nice too . Couldn’t fault at all for price paid.,

Unfortunately all the food on the carvery was extremely dried out, I can only assume through sitting under the heat lamp for a long time? The roast potatoes were very burnt yet soggy, I had to ask for replacement roasties as they were inedible 🥺 the young girl who got me the replacements was extremely apologetic and I felt bad for complaining 😳😢 the meat disintegrated due to being so dry 😱,all in all a very disappointing experience which is a shame as I had previously always enjoyed eating here!

Despite other negative reviews, we wanted to try ourselves and were happy with our meal. Well cooked although the bacon could have been cooked a little longer, but it was tender nonetheless. It was a very busy morning and the staff were under extreme pressure, that did not stop them being friendly and they did a good job. Great value when you consider the cost of food these days. There are a few improvements that could be made to improve in a few areas, but overall, a good visist and one we will return to again and again.

Lynn made sure my stay was fantastic! She was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The food was lovely, and joe was fantastic as well! Very welcoming place will defiantly come again.

Fantastic venue . Loving the refurbishment. Myself and some friends met at the Village Inn and on recommendation from the Manager , Darren , I believe this was his name , we tried the ‘Mega Pizza’. We were not disappointed . It certainly was mighty and full of flavour too . A truly enjoyable experience made all the more memorable by the Manager Darren.

Incredible food and service as always, had the mega pizza and it did not disappoint, was looked after well by the friendly manager and all of the team.

Myself and a few members of family visitors back in January for a 80th birthday. Service was poor and the food was equally poor. We asked for some sauces (mayo, ketchup and bbq) to be told you have to pay for these separately! Strange as never have I been somewhere where you have to pay for these. My partner then went back in April (after refurb) to give it another go with the kids and was shocked still with the service, poor quality food and charge for sauces. My step son asked for ketchup and was told to take his plate to the bar where they proceeded to put the sauce on his plate for him. Just overall disappointing when you don’t often go out and twice had a bad meal. Such a shame.

Went for breakfast Thursday 11th april. A great selection, food was fantastic. Great atmosphere and Lee and Lynn where fantastic hosts.

After having various recomendations to this establishment my wife ,myself and a close friend dcided to drive the 18 miles to try it for lunch. It would appear only one half of the resteraunt was open we eventually found a table but had to move as the chairs were so uncomfortable. We decided what we wanted to eat and lined up at the bar to order,as their were only two people actally serving drinks and taking food orders this resulted in rather a long wait. After the order was taken we waited about 40 minutes for the food to arrive, at the time of ordering we also orderd three puddings but waited another 45 minutes and still nothing arrived. There was still no staff to ask. In the end I had to push in the front of the odering line and call to the staff member that we were still waiting for our desserts, he called back to me that after he had finished with the customer he was attending to he would chase the order up. Another 20 minuets passed and our three apple pies arrived which wern't worth receiving you could tell they had been hurredly heated up in a microvave as the pastry was very soft and soggy. We were unable to complain at the time as there was no senior staff to complain to. So about two and a half hours after arriving we left to drive home.

First time here since refurbishment,just say a lot brighter all round,New menu too,had Lasagne,excellent,Lynn and crew working hard as ever.

The friendly, helpful manager and staff at the newly refurbished Village Inn provided excellent service. Booking was easy and our needs accommodated. Guests commented on the good quality of the food. The private room was ideal for the wake easily accommodating over 40 people. I would highly recommend The Village Inn. It is very close and easy to get to from Greenacres Burial Park at Colney

went in for drinks with friends and family was very impressed with the service and especially with the new refurb looks fantastic inside and out. locals and visiters to the area will be smitten with this village bar and restraunt so dont miss out pop in see for your selves

Lovely to see the place has been refurbished (long over due). its very much up to date with decor and lovely to see a better range of drinks on tap. New food menu and ice cream parlour was a a big hit with the kids....

Oh dear as a regular here and always having good things to say about the place I was so disappointed with a recent visit. Starting with the ordering at the bar there were no staff for 5 minutes. Then my wife and myself had a carvery the meat we chose was beef when seated and tried the beef it was mega tough we left this on plates and complained to waitress and was told several people said the same she just said at least vegetables were ok we were left very disappointed as we are pensioners and going out for a meal a treat so very disappointed 😞.

Such a lovely charming place to have a good comfort meal. I took my grandad for his birthday meal as he really enjoys the carvery, absolutely amazing staff here. The chefs are fantastic and a mention for Jay, Adam and kiel for making every vist a enjoyable one. I cant leave a review and not mention becky, jake and daryn on the bar for the best drinks around and lovely scarlett checking our table and being so friendly.

Absolutely shocking. Current offer on is carvery for 5.00 which we were notified about by email. We arrived last night to be told there is no carveries left (fine we left it until 6, still frustrating you think you would cater for enough knowing it’s going to be busy) So stupidly we thought we would try again tonight - arriving at 4:10 much earlier - to be told no tables available (restaurant empty) as they are pre booked up. Never do you have to book for this place, not once last night was we advised to book. After an awful Christmas meal here too I’m not sure we will be coming back.
