Met some old friends there for lunch and will definitely be going again! First class all round!

Stopped for the night as I was working in the area. Reasonably priced and the room was clean and tidy.

Dogs allowed. Most of food really well presented, but chips the worst. We did not comment at the time, with a family member.

First time of coming here. Really lovely place to eat for a special evening meal. The staff are lovely and remembered from my booking that I was coeliac so were ready to advise when I arrived what I could and couldn't eat. I would definitely go there again.

We come regularly for Sunday lunch,the food is excellent and the girls are very friendly, as is Paul the owner. We love chatting to the staff and they know exactly what we like and don’t like,everything we ask for they oblige,we like to sit in the back dining room where we usually sit on our own.

Groom and family had drinks prior to our wedding at Diss Registry office. Staff were ok with them leaving cars in the car park when they nipped out for the wedding! We all went back after the wedding for another drink. Lovely old building, good choice of drinks Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff

We had a meal here on Friday and the food was absolutely amazing proper food, all home made cannot fault it at all. Would highly recommend

Seeing the good review online, we tried our luck for lunch early just before noon. The one bar staff said that all six tables were booked: one had already clients seated and the other five were empty with 'reserved' labels - just like the Monty Python sketch. So we left and came back quarter of an hour later, 12.15, to find nobody else there. The bar staff grudgingly said we could stay, on the smallest table, and gave us a menu. Half way through our meal, two people who had booked, arrived and were given a table for four... and then four people who had not booked came and were turned away!!! Nobody else appeared within that hour. The food was OK, the salad garnish to the sausages, egg and chips was so old, the cucumber stiff and dry, the onion dry... but the sausage was good and the rest OK. How is this the best place in Diss?!

What a great place to take a few friends for dinner and a very good pint. A lovely building with an amazing history. Nice bar staff and the chubby jovial chef is very good at his trade. Loved it. Loads of parking space too.

Popped in here for a mid week lunch and were not disappointed. Good pub food, the lasagna was really good. The deserts were delicious!

I've eaten here a number of times. It's menu is comprehensive and the food good. However this review is for the accommodation. It's a beautiful old building in which to say. I was in the spacious en suite room. I love the fact that its old character remains. It hasn't been turned into a bland corporate hotel look that so many pubs have copied. Currently they are not doing breakfast but at £65/night I think it's a bargain. However you are staying in a very popular drinking pub so if you don't like a bit of noise this may not be the place for you but to me it adds to the atmosphere!

For me there's only two reasons for coming to Diss. The Optition and the Saracens head. What a lovely Pub. Dripping with beams, plenty of table seating, good range of Beers, Beer garden, large car park (customers only). There's a mid morning cafe culture here with plenty of good conversation and the Coffee machine working overtime. Imaginative Menu, well kept beers and nice talkative / polite 'Bar staff. If you arrive at mid day, with any luck you'll miss the Landlord. Reccomended. 🍽 🍷🍹🍺 🍵

Lovely traditional interior and bar scene. Staff friendly and welcoming. Our group (rather than me individually) noticed how well they catered for a man on his own. He was obviously a regular, and probably partially sighted, so they had a white cloth on his table, and a lamp pointing downwards on to it. We were very well looked after too. Food delicious, well presented and plentiful. I even had to leave a small part of my mains, very rare for me!

Walked in off the street, due to The Cock, not serving lunch. Dining room full, and all eating. Garden was very pleasant in warm spring sun, and ordered. A Sunday lunch to die for, home made well cooked, the beef tender and pink, great roasts, real veg well cooked and large Yorkshire, Plate was boiling hot and kept food hot…. A great touch Homemade white choc cheesecake to finish, and a great finish. Superbly cooked, great value, go nowhere else

We have never eaten here before and we came because I work in Diss and many of my colleagues recommended it. We had a great meal and would come again! My grandad, who usually complains about something, didn't so that shows what a great time we had The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to order and we had had plenty on our plates. Sadly, I couldn't have dessert as I was full. For my main course, I had Chicken Parmigiana, which I haven't had since I went to Australia. It was how I remember it We will definitely be back and hopefully I will be able to fit in dessert!

Got in without booking just. It is popular because the food is good and the beer is better.

Convenient parking, located in the centre of town. Super friendly pub, excellent food at very reasonable prices. We were made very welcome and will return. Highly recommended, so impressed we’re writing this as we finish our coffee.

After being refused entry at the Water Front ph because not dog friendly or human we found the Saracens Head Very friendly + dog friendly, lovely meals and drinks Will definitely use again when in Diss

Really nice pub! We stayed in Diss for work and we was recommended this pub as a nice place to eat and it didn't disappoint. The food was lovely I had breaded camembert for starters and Ribs for main and the portion was enormous! I highly recommend this pub if you visit Diss

Have been to the Saracen’s Head numerous times ,never been disappointed . the food is always great (the ribs are to die for) the landlord and the girls who work there are first class always friendly , polite and helpful. In all we love this place

I needed a last minute place to stay in Diss on a Saturday recently and found that the Saracens Head pub has rooms - I think there are four or five. The bedrooms are upstairs and across a quaintly sloping landing. Mine was at the front of the building, up a few more steps and was huge. There was a spacious bathroom off a lobby area with a bath and shower. Then a really big double room with a walk-in cupboard serving as a wardrobe. Tea and coffee are provided but there was no soap in the bathroom and I couldn't find a hairdryer - no matter as I had brought both with me. I was given a key for the back door of the pub so I could come and go as I pleased. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was soft and comfortable. There was a little road noise and chat from the pub downstairs but it had quietened down by about 11:00 and I had a great night's sleep. You need to be patient when running a bath or shower as the hot water takes a while to come through but once it does, it's fine. I'd been warned when booking that they couldn't provide breakfast on the Sunday morning. Not sure if this is always the case or whether it's usually provided but as I was joining a family member for breakfast elsewhere, it wasn't a problem for me. The staff in the pub were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Had a great experience here. Food was lovely real home cooked food! Staff friendly and attentive made to feel extremely welcome and nothing a problem. Great menu choice. Something for everyone. Highly recommend can't wait to go back.

Their chips are like chip shop chips, so tasty. I had the battered prawns with a sweet chilli dip, super tasty but very filling! Their salted caramel torte is to die for! Also they do a cheeky Irish coffee, can't beat it!

Woefully disappointing. Ordered a tuna steak, done rare, got a dry and thoroughly overcooked piece of fish that was drier than a can of tinned tuna from tesco. Pointed it out to the staff and they told me that was "as pink as they could make it. Seeing as it was grey white throughout and dry as a bone I suggested that they should warn people they can't cook it properly before letting them order it. Stick with burgers if you go here.

We have eaten at The Saracens Head a few times now and we love it! Fabulous food and service with a smile! You should give it a try - you won’t be disappointed!

Hadn't originally intended to be in Diss but due to the bad weather altering train timetables this is where we ended up. Very friendly staff and one or two local ales on sale including Woodforde's Wherry. Can honestly say I had one of the best steak, ale and mushroom pies I have ever had with absolutely fantastic gravy. Big thumbs up and a very pleasant surprise. Proper food in a proper pub. Also my friend had what he described as the best vegetarian lasagne he had ever had.

The food was excellent but it was a bit draughty when we visited for lunch on Thursday.

Dated dusty pub serving average food. Such a shock after eating fabulous fayre at Amandine’s and the Cock Inn. Chips pre-cut frozen, peas over cooked and fish bland. Bit of a time warp on how food & premises is presented. Constant banging from repairs being completed didn’t help either. Needs a complete overhaul. Lovely waitress served us, but will not return.

We have regularly been here for Sunday lunch and a couple of evenings meals during the pandemic. The food is always good, and hot, with a wide choice of menu. It's covid safe and the staff are friendly, well worth a visit.

Great Sunday roast, far too much for hubby and me but our little Basil had a lovely lot of leftover beef and lamb, so we all enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and made a real fuss of Basil which he enjoyed enormously...dogs are welcome 😁😁

If you like historical buildings, this will be a nice surprise for you. A nice pub/restaurant. Food very nice, nice selection of choices. Staff very pleasant. Recommended if you anywhere near Diss.
