We ate outside as it was a nice day. The outside area is very overgrown. Some TLC needed with the grass, especially under the tables. Containers with many dead plants. Not great unfortunately. Such a large outside seating area with potential but pretty drab in all honesty. We were told to avoid the Chicken Parm as for the price you don't get much food. Honest advice from the staff I must say. Presumably people base their visits on the half price specials three days per week. We weren't aware of these until we ordered at the bar. We didn't see any other signs anywhere, especially outside. Heated up food was OK, nothing special really. This place used to be a great place to eat and always very busy bud sadly now it is looking very tired and in need of upgrading. Even the car park could do with some TLC. nice to see solar panels on the roof but please invest in this place and don't let it become more run down than it already is. We also had breakfast here a few weeks ago and that too was very disappointing.

Very friendly clean and nice atmosphere

I ordered a takeaway online too collect. For 3 people it came too £55, which I thought was resonable for what we had ordered. Collected it and drove home which was about 15mins away, the food was still hot which was good. We then opened the food and that's where the disappointment started. The burgers were bigger than the bun, which was soggy amd had old lettuce in it. The bottom had pretty much disappeared which made it horrible too eat. The portions of fries were very small, we had about 15 fries each. The calzones we ordered were both burnt and the pots of dip were pointless, as there was hardly any dip in them. For the amount we spent on the meal it was very disappointing! I was looking forward too trying this restaurant out because we'd heard good reviews! The service was prompt and it arrived on time which was great, but after trying it I definately won't be ordering a takeaway again. I thought it was poor quality and it didn't taste the best either. Im sorry but I really feel like it was a waste of my money. Thanks

We have visited the Inn several times over the years and found the service was always excellent I’m sorry to say this was far from excellent visit yesterday 1 booking via phone was not entered 2. Chef was offhand and no personality 3. Long queues and staff were miserable 4. Staff needs customer care and personality training I don’t normally complain but feel you need know That This was always a friendly place to come for a meal! It certainly wasn’t yesterday 😞

Held our mother's wake at the Village Inn. Very well organised - thanks Darren and the team. Good variety of food and reasonably priced. The venue has a nice sized function room with good access to the bathrooms etc. A tv screen for photos etc to be shown. Good size car park also very close to Colney Wood memorial grounds. Ideally situated just 5 minutes away.

Popped in over the weekend, we come regularly but always a pleasant experience. Georgina and Max very welcoming. Food tasted good, although there was a moment where the roast potatoes were low the staff brought them quickly to our table shortly after.

I always try to be fair in my reviews. This place is OK and reasonable. It doesn't do anything bad. Beer is well priced. Food is of a good enough standard and price. I do think sometimes they are a little short staffed so waiting can be a pain. All staff seem friendly. I'm not a fan of carvery type services so can't comment on that. It's a B- from me.

We popped in for a later than usual dinner so caught a quiet moment which was very pleasant to just sit and chill. Carvery with plenty of choices meat/ sausages and non meat options. A good selection of vege and a very lovely server Lee who looked after us 100 %

Really friendly staff, great breakfast for a good price 👍🏼

The restaraunt was very busy and the food was great but was dissapointed that I booked in advance and asked for a private area but we were sat by the waitress/waiters til so there was a lot of going back and forth. We therefore left the table and went outside to eat where it rained slightly on and off so we took shelter under the tables parasol. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu for someone who is health conscience is very limited as most dishes were high in calories so I think improvement to the menu would go down well. No cranberry sauce was available for anyone that had the turkey which was dissapointing.

Came in for a carvery and the staff were excellent. Bekki was great behind the bar and was given excellent service. Very polite. Nikki was very friendly and made sure we had every thing we needed

Very impressive for our first visit ! We were looked after by Lee who was very helpful and the other staff that greeted us and explained how it all worked was lovely .

Absolutely love popping in here for a carvery, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much. Carvery was fresh and hot and delicious. I would highly recommend a visit. Thankyou to all the staff they are a credit to your business I hope you reward them well.

Food not bad but not as good ,, 2/3 years ago .Price increases should cover food value, can't have it both ways. Premises clean and tidy.

Get the durty philly burger. Genuinely one of the nicest burgers I've ever had. This place is class and good price. Deserves a higher rating.

Ate here as a family again and as always had a really pleasant meal. Managed to see our son's favourite staff member, Lee, who was as helpful and happy to please as usual. Great addition to an already quality team.

Me and my friend came last night for the first time and this will now be our monthly meet up spot. Lovely family pub. Huge menu to choose from - We were spoilt for choice. We eventually settled on the large plate carvery which was absolutely delicious and fresh. Staff were all very friendly and we had a lovely evening :)

Lovely place for a visit. My brother lives in the area and we were heading up on holiday in Cromer so we stopped on the way for breakfast. We rang ahead to let them know we had caravans and they were happy for us to park them in the car park while we had breakfast. Less than £6 for as much breakfast as you like from a buffet. It was all piping hot and all excellent quality food! I hate poor quality frozen sausages and I was over the moon to find their sausages were delicious! Lynn our server was excellent too! Very attentive even though it was quite busy while we were there. Clearly the team are all doing an excellent job as I couldn’t find fault with anything! Thank you, we will definitely be back!

Absolutely wonderful, food was delicious, hot and really good value for money. The staff wlare welcoming, friendly and helpful. We will be back soon for another family meal.

The customer service in this place is second to none. Friendly atmosphere, helpful staff. Daryn, Chelsea, scarlet, Ellie, Shireen, Jo, Lee and Jake to name but a few. Also Jay, Adam and kiel and Andy in the kitchen.

Lovely place. Foods good, and the environment is friendly.....just like all the staff. I was served by a lovely lady at my table today (17-07-24....14.00pm at table 66) called Lynn. She did everything possible to make my dining there an enjoyable one. I have been served by her before, and can applaud her professional performance every time. A very consistent performance, and high standard of service both today.....and on previous visits. Big parties or small.....shes very courteous , and unflappable. Even if you dine alone, she still makes sure you're comfortable at your table, and is always willing to provide further assistance. 10/10 Same goes for a gentleman called Lee......he also provides a very high standard of friendly service. He's often on hand.....and even when super busy....(Which is often from what I've seen)....he always stops and says hi.....and enquires on assistance you may need....10/10 The young lady on the bar today, is also very capable, and when a large party arrives she's straight on it. So concerning waiting times.....the service is quite quick. I can't fault it. She's very professional and helpful, and even before she started her shift on one occasion....assisted me with WI-FI access. Always has a polite and respectful demeanour. Unfortunately, i do not know the young lady's name to credit her the due credit she deserves. 10/10 Highly recommended. Dining and bar areas very clean, regularly maintained. Assorted sizes of tables for all parties, and quite comfy seats. Cutlery is clean, and tables are soon cleared and sanitized for other guests. Theres a large TV on the wall, and a couple of fruit machines tucked away. I cant answer for the children's play area outside......you'd need to ask someone whos a kid......but i know its there for them. Theres outside tables too, with umbrellas. The whole establishment is spacious, and clean, and well presented. Theres NO loitering at the bar, so its easy to get served ( thats not a house rule, but just my personal observation). Also....you DON'T see staff texting and what not, while you wait for their attention. Staff enquire if there's any thing else you need, and are happy to provide. Nothings too much trouble. They're also NOT constantly loitering round trying to hurry you up. They're very conscious of food allergies ....and ALWAYS ask before you order, so there is a customer safety level thats there. Ive been in regular lately, but they STILL ask me. Ive never had a bad meal there. Its NOT a place for loud music, swearing, or fighting....so theres nothing anti social about the place, or the people who frequent it. Ive seen families, children, and coach parties of senior citizens as guests....so that should tell you the calibre of customer you'll encounter. Everyone is polite, well mannered, and respectful....on both sides of the bar. You can order from the table, via a barcode on the menu too which is handy. Theres only one entrance IN and a separate exit out of the car park.....so you might find your entry blocked by a delivery lorry. Cars can be stagger parked, and driving round the lorry can be a bit delicate as it brings you into the exit lane. Thats the only thing i can fault really.

Always great food and great service. Something for everyone and this time I see there are more options in the snacks and sharers menu. Win win. Usually come for birthdays and when we want to treat ourselves and not cook. It accommodates all of us and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Always a pleasure to eat here. The waiter Lee is amazing and always so friendly and goes above and beyond.

I came in on Sunday just gone with my mum and husband and the Sunday roast was absolutely amazing, we had our drinks and food ordered by a lovely young lady called Layla who took our order from the table to save us waiting in the long bar line and made time for us when it was very busy , overall the experience was 10/10

We eat regularly at Village Inn , and we are never disappointed , the food is always delicious and hot , this time we had 2 attentive staff look after us , named Layla and Max , they were cheerful and professional and kept everywhere spotless , looking forward to our next visit already 😊

Great food and service always come here with my family. The manager Jake is always friendly with us and makes my daughter laugh and she always asks about him! Will recommend!

Pizza was partly uncooked, all 3 portions of chips were very overcooked but were promptly replaced. Waiting staff were well-meaning but incompetent. Kids' dessert took 25 minutes to arrive. The excuse given was that the kitchen was very busy but the restaurant was half empty by this time (1830). The (I assume) head waiter spent most of the time chatting with guests when our table was covered in dirty plates, then when we were waiting to have dessert so we could leave to get our young children to bed he was heard telling a waitress to hurry us up as the room was needed for a party. We were refunded for some desserts but I will not eat here again, especially with children. I have given this pub 4 chances to deliver an acceptable meal and we have been left disappointed each time. It seems the pub relies on carvery and the staff don't care about decent service. Also, the menu is limited and has some odd and repulsive sounding entries. The only restaurant I have ever sent food back due to poor quality. Needs a new manager.

We enjoy going to the Village Inn, I have been going there now for the last 13 years with my partner. He has been going for 30 years or more a few times a year. We travelled around 27 miles to get there. We love the food, mainly breakfast. The staff is helpful, especially Lynn she's very polite and always makes us feel welcome! It is lovely to see the restaurant nicely refurbished. Sadly, it is a little bit disappointing that your glasses for water services are not very appealing to the eyes. The not so very happy young lady behind the bar this morning explained that they were not dirty when I politely asked her for a clean glass to get some water. She explained that the glasses were water marked because they were not polished, and I could also see the glasses stacked with condensation in them. She did gave us a different glass at the end with some warnings. We done drink out of dirty looking glasses at home and don't expect to anywhere else, especially in a restaurant! We certainly will be coming back and hope to see some improvements with your water glasses. Thank you for your time 🙂 Date of visit: July 8 2024

Normally really good and certainly can't moan too much given the price. Tonight was a little different, maybe because it was really busy but the roasties were nowhere near cooked! Only a small thing but that's my favourite bit lol. Staff still providing great service even though it was very busy. Probably aim to go a bit off peak in future if we return.

On arrival (firday 28th) wasn't very busy at all only 1 person seving behind the bar and she was more interested getting drinks for tables 3 people were down near the pizza ovens chatting and larking about which didn't look good when customers were waiting at the bar when commented on this had a very rude response of the manager personally her attitude stank so walked out will NOT be returning

Being new to the app we struggled to get on it but maybe more to lack of signal but we got it sorted in the end.there was a long weight to get served at the till area so hopefully we’ve now got the app sorted we’ll be able to order and pay from the table. All staff were friendly and well dressed.Polite friendly check on us to see if all was ok and then the table was cleared away as soon as we’d finished.Food was good beef juicy and tender pork crackling amazing. Chef behind the serving counter very polite and friendly.Lots of variety in veg all cooked well not soggy or dry.Got a more homely feeling about the place now.We will be back and we will definitely be recommending yourselves.

Had a bit of an ant problem inside, no Ales, plates were hotter than the food. The people seemed nice but very "relaxed" with their service. Food quality wasn't great nor the portion sizes. Their app wasn't working properly either so managed to get one order through on the app to avoid the slow moving queues. Kinda get what you pay for really, low price is reflective of the experience. Might be alright for some though.

Waited a while to get food as nothing was out. was not impressed to see ants 🐜 over the bread unit. (Second time I’ve seen this in same place) Food was lovely once they finally filled it up. Sadly found a hair in food so didn’t finish.(hair could be from a one including from my table) Children’s High chairs need replacing , or at least a good jet wash including under the trays.

My friend and I has the carvery (£9.50 ish each) which was great value and I really enjoyed it. Great choice of veg and meat. Certainly not shy when it came to portion sizes. Others in the group had a pizza, which was homemade and all went, as did the childs burger and an adult fish and chips. Didn't have to wait long for food, maybe different if really busy. Went mid week early evening but half term so quite quiet. Easy to park on site, plenty of room.

We went for a family carvery on Sunday. Told to use the app to order....app kept going wrong so eventually went up to the bar and ordered. Then whilst we were queuing for the carvery the man carving the meat suddenly said he wasn't cutting anymore meat until the vegetables had been refreshed. It was clear some other members of kitchen staff then bore the brunt of his mood as they came out banging things around with faces like Thunder. When we first started there were about 10 people waiting by the time the staff had sorted themselves out the queue had about 50 people waiting and not one member of staff apologised to the customers or let us know what was going on. This created a horrible, unwelcoming atmosphere so all in all a bad experience.

What lovely staff at The Village Inn. Joe in particular is such a great host! Thank you for spoiling my mum on her birthday.. Great team and lovely food (roasties are to die for !)
