The Village Inn in South Norfolk

Food was very nice… chef service was very poor😡 we stood in line at the Carvery along with about 6 others waiting for a chef to appear to carve for us… 2 chefs appeared from the kitchen.. walked through the carvery totally ignoring us… we waited for about 8-10 minutes before one of the chefs mentioned came about and served us… Apologies for the wait… well tbh it was downright rude… We won’t be back…

Not only provides excellent food but also delivers great service that enhances the dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable meal. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!

First time visit Not impressed. Surly attitude at till when paying Waiting an age for food items to be topped up leaving food already on plate to go cold Poorly presented and dishes just topped up into grease filled empty ones Table waitress was pleasant but she seemed embarrassed at poor service from kitchen I was one of lucky ones it looked to be getting worse once I was seated. I won't bother again

Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner with my boyfriend last night, our server, Demi, was lovely, chatted with us just enough, and super helpful with deciding our dishes! She managed to convince us to get a dessert and I have no regrets. The bubble waffle in particular was mouthwatering!

We have just been here for my son’s 5th birthday and Nikki made it an extra special occasion for him! She had a chat with him about what he’d been doing for his birthday then said she’d organise something special for him. Being a 5 yr old he obviously didn’t forget this but she came through with a double scoop of vanilla and strawberry ice cream with strawberry sauce and marshmallows! Needless to say we had a very happy birthday boy!! Thank you Nikki :)

A friend won a pizza competition so 3 of us went to share it. After questioning the size of the pizza offered to the size of the pizza pictured, Courtney was excellent and made us the large one. Very enjoyable and Lee was great with my cousins ADHD child who was having a bad day x Both made our girly catchup more enjoyable ty x

Very good value and they take blue light discount so even better, nice place which had been refurbished since my last visit.

On my visit here today I must say it was absolutely outstanding food and service. The sausages were succulent, the bacon was tip top. Eggs cocked to perfection and everything else was spot on. I can’t recommend this highly enough and will be returning on a weekly basis. The service received was top tier and all the staff were very friendly and professional. 5 stars across the board from me

Decided to pop into The Village Inn last Sunday. Arrived to find virtually no food available and growing queue of customers, who had been waiting for some time. Were told by staff who appeared almost rude and dismissive that it would be "5mins", but took over 30 mins from arrival to sitting down with food. Having ordered mushrooms whilst paying these didn't arrive until we'd finished, despite asking two of the waitresses whilst we were eating and when they they had clearly been flash fried and were scaldingly inedible. I'm really sorry to have to post a review like this as I've been going to The Village Inn for years, I didn't raise these issues during our visit due to the demeanor of the staff, as they are not the usual weekday ones like Lynne who are very helpful. Not sure we'll be returning....

Came for lunch with some friends. We had 2 carveries and 2 sandwiches. Food was lovely sandwiches were packed full of filling, brilliant choices for the carvery. We were looked after by nikki who was so friendly and kept us laughing. Thankyou for a brilliant lunch and great service.

We came to The Village Inn for a carvery today and the food was absolutely amazing. Our waitress Lohan was so polite and checked on our table of 10 regularly to ask if everything was ok! Very impressed. Thank you so much! We will be back!

Came in a bit last minute but we come very often, always enjoy the food and the atmosphere but today was extra special as our fantastic waitress Nicki couldn’t have been more attentive not just to us but everyone around us! Very impressed with her, she’s a star.

The vegetables looked liked they had been cooked the day before and were freezing cold it was only 15 minutes after opening time disgusting 🤮

Ordered 2 carvery via deliveroo , they turned up with no meat in either , spoke to someone at the restaurant and they didn't admit they had missed putting it in , even suggested that the poor delivery driver might have taken it which would be funny if not so disgusting to suggest that. The bag was sealed and the containers fill to the brim with vegetables and mash. Need to learn when you make a mistake hold your hands up and admit it. Poor

Food was really good service good

An excellent carvery, better than the last experience I had in a Toby. This also has other menu options including Pizza. Seems like a slightly odd location for such a place, in the middle of a small village, a large chain pub/carvery/restaurant. Most villages are lucky if they still have a small pub. I may come back.

Food was great staff no so great too hot in restaurant

Ordered for delivery by Deliveroo and was delivered quite quickly but the food was quite poor, chips were extremely small portions and all cold and soggy. I ordered a burger along side this which had next to no fillings and burgers were those horrible thin cut burgers and there might as well of been no bun as it was squished flat either side and soggy

Tried to order 3 Pizzas at 8:45pm and was told there were only 2 toppings left so then decided to have just a cheese pizza to then be told by Lee that there was no cheese and that the cheese gets rationed daily, surely cheese would have been the first ingredient to have been said. Why does cheese get rationed in a restaurant that is known for pizza on a Tuesday night when the pizza offer is on. I asked to speak to the chef Adam cooking the pizzas to which he didn't come over, Lee then called him again and he still didn't come. When sat at the table in the bar area I watched Lee tell Adam I was going to write a review and Adam just shrugged his shoulders. Disappointed in this service as we have to travel 30 minutes to get here.

Visited the Village Inn for lunch, must say the place is looking a lot better since it was refitted, I was extremely and pleasantly surprised by the improved quality of food and service when I went. I was immediately greeted at the door by a lovely young lady called Chelsea, she was incredibly helpful and cheerful, really made us feel welcome and looked after.

Carvery was better then I expected

Shocking carvery. I never leave reviews but thought I will this time. There wasn’t one thing on the plate that we actually enjoyed, hence why we asked for our money back. Manager didn’t even apologise. Would recommend to anyone that loves a Weatherspoon atmosphere

DO NOT BOTHER We booked a table which was confirmed. We arrived to be told through a closed window "we're closed". A member of staff eventually came outside to speak to us and another diner that there was some issue resulting in having to not open. It was claimed that we were phoned. We were not. There should have been something put on the website. It's hardly difficult. We will never return. Sloppy and ineffective customer care at best.

Great staff, cheerful place, should bring back the pool table makes that area more sociable.

We went on bank holiday Monday, they obviously short staffed, we queued to be seated, we queued for ages to be served (no signal on phone to order from app), the girl told me to go round the corner to be Served we waited there for another member of staff to serve us, then she started serving people again and now we were still waiting, so I told her I wasn’t happy, we got served by the lovely gentleman, then we had to wait for the chef 30 mins all in all waiting 10 mins eating then left, we eat here often and normally good, but the atmosphere wasn’t good either

We ate outside as it was a nice day. The outside area is very overgrown. Some TLC needed with the grass, especially under the tables. Containers with many dead plants. Not great unfortunately. Such a large outside seating area with potential but pretty drab in all honesty. We were told to avoid the Chicken Parm as for the price you don't get much food. Honest advice from the staff I must say. Presumably people base their visits on the half price specials three days per week. We weren't aware of these until we ordered at the bar. We didn't see any other signs anywhere, especially outside. Heated up food was OK, nothing special really. This place used to be a great place to eat and always very busy bud sadly now it is looking very tired and in need of upgrading. Even the car park could do with some TLC. nice to see solar panels on the roof but please invest in this place and don't let it become more run down than it already is. We also had breakfast here a few weeks ago and that too was very disappointing.

Very friendly clean and nice atmosphere

I ordered a takeaway online too collect. For 3 people it came too £55, which I thought was resonable for what we had ordered. Collected it and drove home which was about 15mins away, the food was still hot which was good. We then opened the food and that's where the disappointment started. The burgers were bigger than the bun, which was soggy amd had old lettuce in it. The bottom had pretty much disappeared which made it horrible too eat. The portions of fries were very small, we had about 15 fries each. The calzones we ordered were both burnt and the pots of dip were pointless, as there was hardly any dip in them. For the amount we spent on the meal it was very disappointing! I was looking forward too trying this restaurant out because we'd heard good reviews! The service was prompt and it arrived on time which was great, but after trying it I definately won't be ordering a takeaway again. I thought it was poor quality and it didn't taste the best either. Im sorry but I really feel like it was a waste of my money. Thanks

We have visited the Inn several times over the years and found the service was always excellent I’m sorry to say this was far from excellent visit yesterday 1 booking via phone was not entered 2. Chef was offhand and no personality 3. Long queues and staff were miserable 4. Staff needs customer care and personality training I don’t normally complain but feel you need know That This was always a friendly place to come for a meal! It certainly wasn’t yesterday 😞

Held our mother's wake at the Village Inn. Very well organised - thanks Darren and the team. Good variety of food and reasonably priced. The venue has a nice sized function room with good access to the bathrooms etc. A tv screen for photos etc to be shown. Good size car park also very close to Colney Wood memorial grounds. Ideally situated just 5 minutes away.

Popped in over the weekend, we come regularly but always a pleasant experience. Georgina and Max very welcoming. Food tasted good, although there was a moment where the roast potatoes were low the staff brought them quickly to our table shortly after.

I always try to be fair in my reviews. This place is OK and reasonable. It doesn't do anything bad. Beer is well priced. Food is of a good enough standard and price. I do think sometimes they are a little short staffed so waiting can be a pain. All staff seem friendly. I'm not a fan of carvery type services so can't comment on that. It's a B- from me.

We popped in for a later than usual dinner so caught a quiet moment which was very pleasant to just sit and chill. Carvery with plenty of choices meat/ sausages and non meat options. A good selection of vege and a very lovely server Lee who looked after us 100 %

The restaraunt was very busy and the food was great but was dissapointed that I booked in advance and asked for a private area but we were sat by the waitress/waiters til so there was a lot of going back and forth. We therefore left the table and went outside to eat where it rained slightly on and off so we took shelter under the tables parasol. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu for someone who is health conscience is very limited as most dishes were high in calories so I think improvement to the menu would go down well. No cranberry sauce was available for anyone that had the turkey which was dissapointing.

Very impressive for our first visit ! We were looked after by Lee who was very helpful and the other staff that greeted us and explained how it all worked was lovely .

Absolutely love popping in here for a carvery, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much. Carvery was fresh and hot and delicious. I would highly recommend a visit. Thankyou to all the staff they are a credit to your business I hope you reward them well.

Food not bad but not as good ,, 2/3 years ago .Price increases should cover food value, can't have it both ways. Premises clean and tidy.

Me and my friend came last night for the first time and this will now be our monthly meet up spot. Lovely family pub. Huge menu to choose from - We were spoilt for choice. We eventually settled on the large plate carvery which was absolutely delicious and fresh. Staff were all very friendly and we had a lovely evening :)

Lovely place for a visit. My brother lives in the area and we were heading up on holiday in Cromer so we stopped on the way for breakfast. We rang ahead to let them know we had caravans and they were happy for us to park them in the car park while we had breakfast. Less than £6 for as much breakfast as you like from a buffet. It was all piping hot and all excellent quality food! I hate poor quality frozen sausages and I was over the moon to find their sausages were delicious! Lynn our server was excellent too! Very attentive even though it was quite busy while we were there. Clearly the team are all doing an excellent job as I couldn’t find fault with anything! Thank you, we will definitely be back!

Absolutely wonderful, food was delicious, hot and really good value for money. The staff wlare welcoming, friendly and helpful. We will be back soon for another family meal.

The customer service in this place is second to none. Friendly atmosphere, helpful staff. Daryn, Chelsea, scarlet, Ellie, Shireen, Jo, Lee and Jake to name but a few. Also Jay, Adam and kiel and Andy in the kitchen.

Lovely place. Foods good, and the environment is friendly.....just like all the staff. I was served by a lovely lady at my table today (17-07-24....14.00pm at table 66) called Lynn. She did everything possible to make my dining there an enjoyable one. I have been served by her before, and can applaud her professional performance every time. A very consistent performance, and high standard of service both today.....and on previous visits. Big parties or small.....shes very courteous , and unflappable. Even if you dine alone, she still makes sure you're comfortable at your table, and is always willing to provide further assistance. 10/10 Same goes for a gentleman called Lee......he also provides a very high standard of friendly service. He's often on hand.....and even when super busy....(Which is often from what I've seen)....he always stops and says hi.....and enquires on assistance you may need....10/10 The young lady on the bar today, is also very capable, and when a large party arrives she's straight on it. So concerning waiting times.....the service is quite quick. I can't fault it. She's very professional and helpful, and even before she started her shift on one occasion....assisted me with WI-FI access. Always has a polite and respectful demeanour. Unfortunately, i do not know the young lady's name to credit her the due credit she deserves. 10/10 Highly recommended. Dining and bar areas very clean, regularly maintained. Assorted sizes of tables for all parties, and quite comfy seats. Cutlery is clean, and tables are soon cleared and sanitized for other guests. Theres a large TV on the wall, and a couple of fruit machines tucked away. I cant answer for the children's play area outside......you'd need to ask someone whos a kid......but i know its there for them. Theres outside tables too, with umbrellas. The whole establishment is spacious, and clean, and well presented. Theres NO loitering at the bar, so its easy to get served ( thats not a house rule, but just my personal observation). Also....you DON'T see staff texting and what not, while you wait for their attention. Staff enquire if there's any thing else you need, and are happy to provide. Nothings too much trouble. They're also NOT constantly loitering round trying to hurry you up. They're very conscious of food allergies ....and ALWAYS ask before you order, so there is a customer safety level thats there. Ive been in regular lately, but they STILL ask me. Ive never had a bad meal there. Its NOT a place for loud music, swearing, or fighting....so theres nothing anti social about the place, or the people who frequent it. Ive seen families, children, and coach parties of senior citizens as guests....so that should tell you the calibre of customer you'll encounter. Everyone is polite, well mannered, and respectful....on both sides of the bar. You can order from the table, via a barcode on the menu too which is handy. Theres only one entrance IN and a separate exit out of the car park.....so you might find your entry blocked by a delivery lorry. Cars can be stagger parked, and driving round the lorry can be a bit delicate as it brings you into the exit lane. Thats the only thing i can fault really.
