Village Indiya in Thurrock

Dropped in after 6.00pm with no reservation. We were sat at a small table in the middle isle. Constant traffic of Waiters passing either side of our small table with the occasional smell of body odour coupled with a high level of general noise. It was like eating in a school canteen. This restaurant is living on its past reputation which has long gone. No one asked if everything was to our satisfaction during our meal. The food was average. The staff were in a hurry to get us in and out as soon as possible. Will not be going back to Village Indiya.

The table was in the middle of the restaurant. When the waitress served the table to the right, she knocked the table. The noise in there was high , food was ok.

Portion was less but food is very nice.Staffs were so welcoming. Will definitely visit again

Popped in for a takeaway on a Wednesday evening at1915 and it was almost full! Was given a free cobra which was nice. Got food home crispy prawns were still crispy and delicious. Goanese prawn curry with a good Naan was perfect

Absolutely wow, this place never fails to disappoint. I had king prawn shaslick which was full of flavour and the king prawns were a good size. We also had lemon rice, onion bhaji's and sag paneer. The sag panner they do is probably the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommended. The service is also amzing. Thank you Village Indiya.

Best indian food by far. Tried most around and this tops it. The veg biryani is the best bursting with flavour as is the sauce u pour over it 👌 fast service, polite staff & cosy inviting atmosphere.

easily the best indian restaurant in south essex and quite probably all of essex. dishes are delightfully prepared with fresh, quality ingredients and the difference in taste is clear staff at village indiya are second to none and prices are very reasonable too

Service is 10/10, the staff are very quick to help with anything you need. As for the food, if I could give it an 11/10, I would. My recommendation is the chicken karma sutra, however, the venison korai was beautiful, almost wish I ordered that upon having a piece. Cobras on tap, you can’t really complain. Very happy customer, and although this is my second time here, I’d certainly think making the trip from Southend is worth every penny.

Come here for a date night with my husband and wow the food is out of this world. Also the staff are so friendly and kind attention to detail is spot on. The restaurant is so clean and lovely decorated I will be returning with my family again and children also. Highly reccomed this restaurant and food is 5star and more

Great food as always, but… we came for a meal to celebrate a family birthday as we have done dozens of times over the years. This restaurant is a family favourite & the food is absolutely amazing. However, last night at the point of paying the bill was split equally between 3 family members with each total being rounded up to a nice even number to add on the tip. The first 2 members paid exactly the same amount, but when it came to the 3rd member of the group who was sitting furthest away from the waiter taking the card payments, instead of charging the the same as he had done twice already, he added an extra £10 & then held the terminal price towards himself so the last member had to just reach out & make contact with the back of the machine to pay, without seeing the charge. It was only that a member of the group seated closer noticed at the last second that additional money had been added on as it was in very big, bright digits facing the waiter. The general feel at the time from all was that this did not feel like an accident. The last member of the group to pay was a more frail member of the party which we obviously feel was seen as an easier target for such a ‘mistake’. Only £10, but if you add this on a handful of times here & there it certainly adds up. Also to add, Village Indiya is a restaurant with a really great reputation, we don’t think that this is something the restaurant would engage in, but clearly a ploy from an individual trying to make a few quid extra. We were left feeling disappointed. Keep an eye on your payments!

Absolutely amazing food, the best I have had in a very long time! Fresh taste was delicious the Butter chicken Was 10/10 overall defiantly the wow factor. Best Indian around Grays by far we had a large group & the quality & level of service was fantastic. Tareq the manager made sure everything was on point. I went for dinner with my wife, Village Indiya was nothing short of impeccable. The staff members were attentive and friendly. The waiters were knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and accommodating any dietary restrictions or preferences. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the Lamb Jalfrezi and King Prawn Puree.

Very good. Pretty expensive but I didn't mind paying as I really enjoyed the food.

My husband and I went to Village Indiya on Monday, 8th May, but - sorry to say, we were disappointed. The food wasn't exceptional: the poppadoms weren't crispy and the onion bhajis weren't hot enough, though we decided to eat them. When we'd finished, our table had begun to be cleared by different waiters and we had to keep saying that we hadn't yet had our main course. When our food did arrive, we had to send it back to be heated, as it wasn't hot enough. We are very unlikely to return. The only reason we would go back, is to experience the attentiveness and delightful disposition of the server, whose name is Olympia.

Visited Village Indiya Sunday 16th April with friends as this is our favourite Indian we go to. I have never had a bad meal until today, I ordered buttered chicken however the sauce was completely split and curdled and the chicken was dried out and tough. It was the worse meal I’ve eaten. I explained to the waiter that I wasn’t happy with the meal and he couldn’t really understand what I was saying and kept saying thank you. He eventually understood what we said and replied he will speak to someone but no one came back to ask what was wrong. The bill came up with my meal still on it and as we was with friends we didn’t want to make them feel uncomfortable so paid the bill without challenging them. I feel the standard has gone down hill and afraid will not return in the future.

All i can say is,this is without a doubt the best indian restaurant that i have been to!! Every sunday i get a takeaway from village india,never been dissapointed,the chicken is soo freshly cooked and the lamb is unreal! The spices are amazing! The guys who work there are always very welcoming and just cant fault the place! Please keep your chefs and staff 🤣 i advise anyone to try there chicken/lamb tikka kama sutra 👌

Normally a brilliant service and food. However today 11th Feb we made an order for a takeaway and was told it would take half an hour. We got there on time and waited a further 45 minutes. When we got it home some of the order was wrong. Rang them and went back to collect it. There were 5 people waiting outside the restaurant for their orders and all were angry about the slow service. Order was now correct but cold. Don't know what's going on with your restaurant. Very disappointing!

Have left the old review below but needed to update as I finally went for a meal there. Took my Ukrainian refugees there to celebrate my birthday. They’d never had Indian food before and said it was the nicest meal either of them have ever had. Have to agree. Food was amazing and the service impeccable. Got the deserved 5th star. Been meaning to try this place for ages. Decided to go for a takeaway to start. Sadly they gave us a carton marked pilau rice which actually contained Bombay potato. Didn’t discover it until we got home. Called them and the manager himself drove over (we live several miles away) and was there in minutes. Easy mistake to make in a busy kitchen but they owned their error and made it right quickly. Great customer service. Oh, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Absolutely brilliant food was welcomed in as soon as we got through the door excellent service throughout the whole of the meal down to when we was leaving we was given hot wipes to clean our hands I never once see any of the workers stand still they was always on the go and never disappointed would defiantly recommend to anyone who wants a great meal out or takeaway

All food was hot and delicious. They even gave us a free Birthday cake and candle for my Partner's birthday. We will definitely be back again very soon. Loved it :)

Service shocking. As soon as we came in, we were not welcomed straight away. Their phone rang and waiter answered it while we were standing there which was rude. Finally seated, our waiter didn't have good listening skills and we had to repeat a few times what we wanted. Overall food was good, not the best Indian food, so shocked how it's award winning. Carpet wasn't clean either and wouldn't go back.
