We always pop in here whenever time allows. Very reasonably priced and always good food. 2 sausage and bacon baguettes, 1 sausage baguette, 1 full English breakfast, extra onion rings and extra chips, 1 cup of tea, 1 bottle of coke, 1 can of diet coke, 1 bottle of orange juice around 30quid. What more do you want from a village cafe....?? The idiots moaning about having to pay cash will be the exact same idiots moaning when cash disappears and the governments Control every penny digitally.... the fact that this business prefers cash is a massive plus for me. Well done the village cafe, thank you for the service with a smile and see you again very soon!!

I’ve visited a few times. The staff are always really lovely. I’ve had the full English a few times and some bacon sandwiches. Food is good, but it’s not the best traditional breakfast. Basic ‘greasy spoon’ type food. Would be good if there was some kind of delicacy or special menu item. For example cooked tomatoes are tinned tomatoes as opposed to fresh; sausages are average not like good quality farm sausages - especially given the country location. It feels like it is good, but could be better. The coffee is pretty poor and the business seems to fluctuate between accepting card and not accepting card. I don’t see how any business can justify that it can’t accept card when the machines are so accessible… The site really needs some TLC and some additional seating outside (where permitted) would really increase the visits. It’s one of these places where it is good, but could be better. There is lots of footfall because of the limitation in other options and it does tick the box of ‘greasy spoon’ when required.

Great “old style” breakfast! I’ve eaten here fairly regularly over the last couple of years. The venue is clean, the food is always cooked well and the staff offer a very friendly service….nothing os too much trouble.

I come to standsted abbots every so often as my sister lives there. At some point, during most visits, I pop into the Village Cafe for breakfast. Every single time the lovely lady at the counter is friendly and ready to take our order and the lovely waitress is always happy to help and so nice to chat to. I cannot wait to visit again

Clean pleasant interior , friendly hard working staff but most of all excellent food ,despite being so busy was cooked to perfection ,great quality food and the bubble and squeak was so good. Would definitely recommend this lovely cafe ,good prices as well .

We popped in here for a quick drink and found it to be very friendly with quick service. It's bigger than you think when looking from the outside with ample, suitably spaced seating. The prices are good and the food that we saw being served certainly looked freshly-cooked with generous portions. There's public parking just around the corner and the cafe is located on the main high street. We'll certainly visit again, probably to sample the food next time.

Great food, lovely friendly staff, fabulously clean, and comfortable seating - what more could one possibly want - the only downside is that it becomes a bit addictive!

Every time I visit The Village cafe I can not see how I can give it anything less than five stars. The roast dinner was excellent. Lots of well-roasted roast potatoes, the lamb was juicy and the vegetables crisp. All this at a more than reasonable price.

I had and enjoyed a roast lamb lunch for the princely sum of £7.50. There were loads of tender lamb, eight small proper roasted potatoes plus greens, carrots, and peas. The service was quick plus the table and floor were clean and tidy. For a cafe, it is brilliant value, absolutely outstanding.

The welcome and service at this little cafe are absolutely top-notch. The fare of a full breakfast with poached eggs was hot, tasty and delivered in good time. The coffee is full in flavour and the tables and floor are spotless, like the toilet. This cafe is a very long way from what used to be known as a "Greasy Spoon"

The service was warm and very friendly but not what I would call speedy. However, the coffee was very well flavoured and the late breakfast was excellent and definitely worth the wait. The tables were clean and tidy and the floor like the toilet was well looked after.

Visited on a Saturday for breakfast. Very popular cafe was packed. We waited abiut 45 minutes for 2 breakfasts which is ok if you want to sit and watch the world go by on a weekend. Breakfast was hit and fresh. Decent sized coffee included in the price £5.30. Great value if compared to some bigger chains offering coffee and re-heated sandwiches which I guess is what makes it so popular.

Having, thankfully, decided that the pub on the river didn't look too inviting, we were walking along the high street and discovered the Village Cafe. What a brilliant discovery - basically a classy, friendly greasy spoon, if that makes sense.Great value, superb food, friendly servic - just perfect!

We have drunk coffee many times at The Village Cafe but this time we were able to have a late breakfast. The welcome was as always warm and friendly, and although the speed of service wasn't lightning, we were still served in good time and with freshly cooked food. The poached eggs were done to perfection and the rest of the breakfast followed suit. The portions were large, more than enough to keep me going.

We'd heard about the extended and newly decorated cafe, we had been there before but interested to see the changes. Great coffee, the softest bread for sandwiches and beautifully clean and fresh. Cooked when ordered, staff are hard-working and friendly. Well worth a visit (free village car park very close).

This is a lovely friendly cafe, it serves no nonsense food all freshly prepared. You better be hungry as the portions are on the generous size. It has good coffee as well! Great breakfast including bubble and squeak, it is the only cafe in the village but if you're passing it's worth a visit.

After all the years living in this area, I wish I'd discovered this little gem much sooner. I've now visited several times with friends and my wife, and never left disappointed. Great place for breakfast and its location on a relatively quiet village high street means you can enjoy your fare in the open air without being choked by traffic fumes if you wish. The furnishings are pretty basic but it's clean, light and airy. The staff are friendly and attentive and clearly enjoy their relationships with a healthy core of regular customers. The menu is varied although I can only refer to the breakfasts which have always been perfect - fried bread a special delight! Highly recommended.

Needed somewhere for lunch with our teenage grandchildren on route to Ware. ( Sat 25th Nov). I looked on trip adviser and found this great place. We were asked to wait a couple of minutes for a table, very busy. We were seated very quickly, ordered our food which was served within a few minutes. Quantity and quality excellent, we all had a very enjoyable meal. The cafe is very clean and has friendly staff. Realistic and affordable prices. Pleased I found it and would certainly go again.
