The Hertford Bell in East Hertfordshire

Went after a long time around 1pm waited a little while to get served staff talking had a pint of abbot ale not the easiest to pour nearly finished when the man pulled a phone out of his pocket and walked away to take call came back finished pulling my pint £4.50 not to bad , pint was warm and cloudy shouldn’t have drunk it , obviously wasn’t pulled through I got the pint that was in the pipes all night won’t be going back .at least I didn’t get stuck to the table this time that was an improvement.

Great friendly pub. Haven't eaten here yet,always go for drinks.

Let under age people drink embarrassing need to get better security they let anyone in should be sacked

Went on a quiet night midweek,so the atmosphere was lacking.Just had a few pints, didn't eat,no criticisms generally.

Had a really great night out in here for our friends birthday, was reasonably priced too. Didn't have the food but great selection of other drinks.

Meet up with friends here every Wednesday and have never had a problem. Holly is extremely helpful and remembers what her 'regulars' drink. Pleasant garden

Great place to meet friends, and have a good night out. Bar staff are friendly and they show sports and live entertainment. Just had lunch in there and the food was great.

Only stopped briefly for a quick refreshing drink as today is a hot day, couldn't rate food or atmosphere as sat outside, I did glance at menu which looked quite reasonable priced.

First time in The Hertford Bell. Had a great night, bar staff were friendly, atmosphere in the pub was good and a great band on Undercovers. Didn't go in the beer garden but it did look impressive. Drinks were reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again when next in Hertford.

Not a huge selection of food on the menu, but I was super impressed with what we did get! The pizza was amazing and so was the Yorkshire pudding wrap. Defo recommend.

First time in this t.a.r.d.i.s like place, neck oil on tap is always a bonus. Football on big screens but no volume so able to enjoy the heavy but not thrash/black metal being played over speakers.

Excellent staff, prices very reasonable for both drinks and food. Really nice beer Garden. Also very dog friendly would definitely recommend

Loverly pub, great staff, shane the manager has always got a smile on his face and is always welcoming, great place to watch football and great on the weekend night for music, it always nice to see a pub with friendly staff and can always have a nice and friendly chat with the staff too, esp holly always got a smile to welcome you through the front door, food is great too, will always come back

Decent. I'm not sure there is a need to have the DJ playing tunes on top volume when there are less than 10 people inside the pub though 🤣

Lovely staff. Not too crowded for a Sunday afternoon. Spacious seating area outside. Dog friendly. Lots of tvs showing football at the time of my visit

Lovely pub. Great garden, friendly staff, always something going on of a weekend (bands, DJ, etc.), shows the football/boxing/whatever, and probably the cheapest in town (excluding the Wetherspoon, obviously).

Bough my grandson here for food We had starters which were great Then we had mains mine was fish and was ok My Grandson however had the burger and he couldn’t eat it I tried a bit and I think it had been deep fried or something was disgusting greasy and bacon was fatty too totally inedible I would maybe go back but don’t order the burger 🤢

I like that is open plan and the garden opens up from the pub. Good place to watch football!

Stickiest pub I've ever been in! Toilets need a MAJOR clean also! But food was good!

Great service, very nice food would have preferred some more healthy choices on menu such as a low calorie chicken pasta or a superfood salad. Would visit again when in town but not quite as often.

Ordered a fish and chips ( as usual do) and this time cheff decided to serve me with only half of it. Asked waitress where is the second half of the fish, she said '' I don't know '' and just walked away. Such a disappointment as it was our favourite place for F&C. Manage offered replace it though...

Went to the Hertford Bell at lunchtime hoping to get away from all the depressing news on the TV. What a mistake!. All the tvs had on as usual was bbc news on with Boris Johnson talking rubbish!. When I went in the sound was off thankfully and great music Was playing through the speakers!. Then the barmaid decided to turn the music off and the TV up. When I complained to her saying I didn't come out to listen to that depressing rubbish she said SHE wanted to hear it!. Nevermind the customers! I thought the pub was there for the customers not the staff

Only went in for a drink. The tables were so sticky where they hadn't been wiped down properly. Went into the ladies toilet & it absolutely stunk of urine! Would not recommend 😕

Done a good job with the outside - tables could do with some cleaning - a bit sticky. Decent range of beers though the Abbot a bit flat.

Great pub. So much better since now leased rather than being a Greene King managed pub. Landlords (husband & wife) are always on the bar, great team of young staff who are always clearing tables and offering drink top ups so no need to go to the bar. Watched the Lions rugby here and really enjoyed it. Great beer garden out back too with TV screens as well. One of the better pubs in Hertford for sure.

Its a good place for visit. Plenty of businesses around and access is easy. I went to see a friend in the area and he took me there. It's nice atmosphere and a good place to have a chat on a couple of pints.

Booked a table for 90 minutes before going on for a meal. Escorted to the table and staff made us welcome and very attentive. Nice to be back !!!

The chef was coughing and sneezing alot put me off my meal. There are alot nicer places to eat out in Hertford

New management yet no new experiences still the same old locals causing issues stay well clear. The woolpack or old barge are a much better choice
