I love pho, so I deliberately sought this place out when I was visiting Gloucester yesterday. I had the pho with garlic steak and some king prawn summer rolls and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was really meaty and the summer rolls were seasoned beautifully with a hoisin-like dipping sauce. Unfortunately I don't live around Gloucester, but I'll be back here whenever the opportunity arises.

Wow. Shockingly good. Was always curious about this, I just had a feeling it would be good. The owner struggles with English (good I prefer) and went to the trouble of trying the Google translator. He told us we would enjoy his food. No kidding. The spicy beef dish was amazing as was the other halfs fine noodle chicken. It's cafe feel but the food is exceptional. Monday it was shut so tried "Korean" nearby as the Plan B, which was really not authentic at all.

Friendly staff, but the food did not live up to the previous ratings. It contained noticeably Glutamat.

We regularly visit the Vietnamese chain restaurant Pho in Cheltenham, and have just discovered this restaurant as an alternative. Great food for a great price (in our opinion, better than Pho). We shall be back for more!

Very nice food, We have tried Chang fried rice and Udan stir fried chicken. Note:People who don't like soya sauce won't like Udan dish otherwise it was a nice food.

The service is so poor, the staff are not welcoming and shows rude behaviour. I would give minus rating if it has the option to choose. We feel like we are in the Vietnam war. So rude and definitely never visit again

Amazing Pho! My adult son and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We both had their steak sizzled in garlic Pho. Great portion size. I don't know how they make the broth, but it tasted amazing. It comes with a plate full of herbs and bamboo shoots on the side. We'd just had a pint elsewhere, so our lovely waiter recommended Jasmine Tea. He came back to our table to show us how to serve it. So, attentive service, stellar food, comfy seating. Perfect!

Today, during a short trip to Gloucester, my partner and I decided to have a late lunch at this restaurant. Regrettably, our experience left much to be desired and cast a negative light on our impression of the city. The restaurant imposed a high service charge of 15% without any prior notification. Neither the menu nor the staff mentioned this additional fee before we used the card payment machine. While we don't mind paying for service, transparency is crucial. However, when we reached the payment counter, the staff failed to provide a detailed receipt and simply instructed us to tap our card on the machine. Trusting their word, we proceeded without realizing the hefty service charge. It was only later, after checking the final receipt, that we discovered the unexpected fee. Feeling deceived and cornered by this lack of transparency, our lunch experience was marred by a sense of dishonesty. Unfortunately, this encounter has not only tainted our impression of the restaurant but also left us with a negative perception of the city.

Such yummy Vietnamese food here! The best iced coffee around! And I cannot rate the staff highly enough! They're super friendly and accommodating and their recommendations from the menu are always the best!

Great food myself and partner make a trip atleast once a week. Spicy beef double meat noodle soup recommended and chicken pho. Milkshakes are also amazing from here. Staff always friendly

Ordered take away noodles with veg and seafood - veg were wilted, one of the prawns gone bad, too salty. Unfortunately, turned out to be very unpleasatly poor quality.

My partner and I are regulars, although we do order to take away more frequently than eating in due to our irregular schedules. I recommend pho tai/bun bo hue, the vegetarian spring rolls, the soft shell crab and the vietnamese ice coffee with condensed milk. Banh mi is a good option for a quick lunch too! I suggest you eat in and are shown how to eat the pho/bun bo hue if it is your first time :)

We really loved our meal, great presentation and lovely to taste some authentic Vietnamese food. The service was also great and enjoyed ending the meal with Vietnamese coffee. Will definitely be back next time we visit Gloucester and recommend 100%.

Amazing Vietnamese food must try

Picked this place so my friend who is vegetarian had some nice options, it wasn't much looking at it but the staff were lovely and very friendly. The food.. oh the food, I haven't eaten a meal out that nice for such a long time. My friend and I had a starter each and a main and drink plus ordered take out for his partner (that's how good it was) all came to about £65..so not bad at all. Both left very happy with the food and will definitely be going back.

If you've ever walked passed and thought aboutntrying this place, please do - it's great. Really lovely food here. The pho was fresh & fragrant, and the beef stew was superbly rich (and an amazing price given the copious chunks of beef). The jasmine tea is also excellent, as are the fried spring rolls. I also really enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. A great sweet treat to finish with. I'll be honest, the exterior made me under estimate the quality of the food. I had assumed it would be kind of average, but it's really one of the best eats in Gloucester, in my opinion. The staff are friendly and the place always looks immaculately clean, too. Highly recommend!

This used to be our favourite place for Vietnamese food but now it has gone downhill. We visited this place for Valentine's day dinner and was very disappointed. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with heavy smoke emitting from the kitchen at the back as if they burnt some dish and the smoke extractor had stopped working. All of the customers were literally coughing. No apology or explanation was given to anyone. They left the main door slightly open using a wooden block as a wedge which was a trip hazard. The food is not the same as it used to be. The Bánh Mì sandwich had very little veg inside and the pork was very fatty. As if they decided to fill the sandwich with some left overs from another dish. Bun was very oily and soaked in soya sauce. The veggies were overcooked and slightly burnt. It was totally different to the Bun we always loved to order. Maybe the chef has changed or they have stopped caring. Either way, we won't be going back to this place. Shame!

We did take out, and went home realised in the tofu and mushroom pho, there are no mushroom at all! Not only that, the tofu had already gone off and tasted very bad! It’s definitely very out of date. It’s my first time and the only time, never ever again!

Didn't know what to expect as we are Vietnamese virgins, food and service were excellent, the menu is varied, but not everything listed is available, however a word of warning it's cash only The acid test is would we return, yes and we would even make a special journey to eat here again

The food is so delicious. The place is very neat, clean, cosy and stylish. It’s out of our expectation. All we’ve experienced are bravo.

The Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) was absolutely legit. Great flavor and decent portion. Highly recommended given that authentic Asian food would be hit or miss here.

We have only eaten here twice (and ordered the same thing) but it’s been really nice both times. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but I’d say this is the closest authentic Vietnamese food we have eaten in the UK after traveling to Vietnam ourselves. We can definitely recommend the vegetable spring rolls, the beef wrapped in betel leaf, chicken glass noodles and the garlic morning glory. The only reason I’ve given it a 4/5 not a 5/5 is because the morning glory was quite expensive for the quantity you get and we could have liked the Vietnamese coffee but they didn’t have it. Even having said this we will be returning customers for sure!

Went with my wife and daughter who are Vietnamese, we ordered special Pho (house special) but what came was a watery beef stock with a few pieces of thinly sliced beef. When my wife asked about this the staff became very unfriendly. At the till my wife again questioned the older man on the till about our food and he became loud and said “ this is our special at this time of day” “ that’s it that’s it” he then refused to take off the service charge of 10% or lower the price to that of a more simple dish which is what we received. Definitely avoid this place in future!!! Shocking service and food. Very different from Vietnamese culture. During our visit the kitchen staff were shouting very loudly at each other too

The ‘House Special pho’ was suppose to contain meatballs, beef and poach eggs. But it didn’t contain any except beef, as a Vietnamese I am very disappointed as the broth tasted nothing but like random ingredients mixed together.It seemed like they put a whole bag of msg and when we asked for some basil they said we don’t have any in a very offensive attitude.In the background you could hear screaming and shouting from the kitchen it wasn’t very pleasant to hear whilst eating. At the end I got charged for service ? They have done nothing but bring the bowls out with a annoyed face and rude tone we have asked to take some of the price off as the ‘house special pho’ didn’t contain all and it wasn’t worth the full price. In return I got shouted at aggressively and payed full price I am still very angry as it was quite expensive.This was a complete waste of money I do not suggest coming here unless you want to be upset!

I had never eaten Vietnamese food before and was advised what to choose by a friend. However, I ignored her advice and chose the Bo Kho beef stew. I didn't like it at all - too salty and the meat was very fatty. I ended up leaving a lot of fat on a spare plate in front of my vegetarian friend. Having said that, my friends were all happy with their food, and the service and price were good.

I asked if it was possible to make a vegetarian Bahn Mi and was told that it was, although perhaps I should have been clearer that my order should have no meat or fish included. It was takeaway and by the time I got back and tried it, I realised it was clearly pork. I called the restaurant and the person I spoke with had limited English. The food might be good but from the point of view of a vegetarian, it is not possible to be confident that your food will be genuinely free of meat / fish due to the language barrier. Perhaps it is worth using google translate when ordering if you have dietary requirements or allergies. I gave away my sandwich and was told that it was tasty, hence the 3 stars. But my personal experience was sufficiently disappointing that I would not return.

I’ve found this nice Viet restaurant in the centre of Gloucester. I had special chicken wings plus a noodle dish and everything was good. Fast service and good prices

Freshly cooked and well presented all our dishes tasted delicious. Chicken curry was delicate and full of flavour. Childrens chicken noodles incredibly tasty. Seafood fried rice exeptional ! Good attentive service All in all a enjoyable dining experience!

Right off the bat the restaurant had a very calming atmosphere, and we were attended to swiftly. Almost immediately after placing our order our food arrived - which was delicious! All the workers were extremely polite . Would most definitely come again !

Short version: Food was okay but service was bad. The waiter had no clue what he was doing, and even when we told him we had gluten intolerance, he did not seem to know what to do. When we asked about certain dishes, he was guessing if the food had gluten or not! It was appalling, but since I really wanted to try the food, we took a gamble anyhow. More than half of the drinks on the drinks menu weren't available. Food came out fine, nothing outstanding. I have yet to encounter a very good Vietnamese restaurant in the UK (I'm Vietnamese), so that's to be expected, I guess. Portions were pretty big. I was really looking forward to supporting the place since it's the only Vietnamese-run Vietnamese place in the area, but the service really let me down. 10% service charge was included on the bill. It should not be the default, but we paid because it was not worth the hassle.

Lovely friendly and unassuming atmosphere. Great food (I had fried noodles with beef), didn't wait long. Just one disappointment - the plate is plastic patterned and moulded to look like bamboo. Felt so like a plate from a Wendy House. Would far prefer a plain piece of crockery.

Went for lunch on a weekday - the service was great and the food was delicious! We ate a good range of stuff and it was all tasty, the prices were very reasonable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back for more!

I had vermicelli noodle with beef and peanut (number 20), while my wife had 28 which was quite similar with a bit more heat. There was kim chi, fish sauce, soy sauce, hoi sin and sricha sauce on the table, so it was easy to season to taste. The kim chi was quite hot, and the whole meal for both of us was really enjoyable and pretty healthy too. There were quite a few Asians in the place at the time so guessing it is well regarded.

Food was okay. We've had better food in Vietnam and was a little pricy for what it was. The one star comes from them over charging us for the food. They gave us the price and when we looked at the receipt, we noticed they added a 10% tip. When we complained, they explained it was the service charge and it was stated in the menu. We looked though the menu and couldn't find it. They refused to give us a refund, saying we needed to wait 5 days for their boss to come in. That was our last day in Gloucester! Speculation, but it makes you wonder if they did that because a woman paid. Service was nice up until then, but I wouldn't advise anyone to eat there.

TLTR: Please ask for a receipt and check thoroughly - zero intergrity at this place. Food was okay, but Service was terrible! Bill applied an automatic 15% service charge and I was told 10% was applied and of course it was cash only & no receipt was given to me at the end of the meal. The fact that they have to lie to get extra 5% is sickening.

As expected from vietnamese food, very tasty with fresh ingredients. The dining area and customer toilet are bright and very clean. The lady who served us was very lovely and thank you for being so patient with us that we kept talking and forgot to look at the menu to order our food. All in all a pleasant experience, highly recommended!

The service was friendly and attentive but haphazard with the delivery, mains before starters and it didn't flow efficiently. It was very busy to b fair which is always a good sign. Didn't put me off enough to not come back, Kev wasn't there, maybe that was it but all the staff tried their best!

The food is fabulous. If you’ve not tried Vietnamese food yet, but you like Chinese you will like Vietnamese. It’s tasty and a little different. It’s nice to be able to add your own sauce, plus there on the table there are other options to add to you food to your taste, like Soy, fish sauce, pickled ginger, chilli, garlic etc. it’s really good, nice people, very welcoming. Really good restaurant. Highly recommended

The food is that good that I always make a point to eat here whenever I am in Gloucester. Northern style pho too which is awesome!

Food came quickly but not too quickly, it was a nice wait without any sense of pressure or stress. The service was quick and responsive to our requests and also mindful of our space and not breathing down our necks. More on the food, I think my personal tastes aren't quite accustomed to the saltiness but in all fairness I did add a little to much soy sauce to my dish so I will take responsibility for that. All in all, the food here is excellent and have a very affordable price for what I am getting which is always appreciated. A small note on the atmosphere, I personally loved it, it was quiet and the music was appropriate, which I find to really push the notion that I am here to relax and enjoy fresh wok fried food.

Authentic, simple, and cozy Vietnamese restaurant. The food was tasty and flavorful, with many vegan options; portion sizes were reasonably priced. The service was gentle and kind. The only issue was that although we specifically asked for the starters first, we received the main course altogether while waiting for one of the starters for more than 20 minutes after the others arrived, as it didn't go through the kitchen (which happens sometimes). Yet, in that case, you would expect that the restaurant will take some responsibility and take it off the bill or offer a complimentary dessert to value the customer's time and dining experience.

Good food and service, and worth a visit.... however, the kitchen extraction fans don't seem to be effective as the restaurant typically smells of deep fat fried food or things that have been seared/charred. Your clothes stink a bit after a visit here, so don't wear dry clean only clothes.

Approaching the restaurant nearly put me off from going in, but I was very pleasantly surprised once the food arrived. An absolute delight, in my opinion, and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. Great job, Vietnam Yummy. We will be back again soon..

The pho we got (#11) was delicious, the tofu summer rolls were a little lacking in flavour though. The service was a bit slow but there was only one fella working front of house when we visited so it's not his fault. We did not get the water we asked for. The menu is extensive here and priced pretty well. There are toilets here.

The food was absolutely gorgeous, fresh and full of flavour. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant and toilets are extremely clean. They seemed to even fully sanitise the seats after each table cleared. We've travelled Asia and found the food to be authentic and very satisfying. One of the best places to eat in the region.

Group of 5 friends visited yesterday evening. The restaurant was freezing inside, about 10 degrees Celsius. Had to keep coats and scarfs on. Food OK but nothing special. Starters and main course served too close together. One starter was not what was ordered. Disappointing meal.
