Another one star review which I feel a need to counterbalance. I usually go to Sebz on a Friday lunchtime. These past few weeks have been very quiet. Sometimes there are two or three other tables. Sometimes I am the only customer. While this means I can chat with the lovely Eva, I'm sure Seb would prefer she was rushed off her feet! The food is still excellent: the prawns are fat and juicy in a spicy sauce, the beef is rich and tender, the pork is melt-in-the-mouth. So, come along and see for yourselves. Make Seb a happy man! (Something yet to be experienced.)

What a gem to be found in Gloucester. A super friendly welcome and service. The food was amazing. We had 3 tapas each and all were beautiful. My husband said he had never had calamari as good as the ones served here. My favorites were the goats cheese Tart, the salt Cod fish cakes and the stuffed mushrooms. The wine was superb and at under £24 very reasonable!

A visit to Seb’s after many years away. Sadly nowhere near as nice as our first. Perhaps unlucky as we arrived on a midweek evening when it was quiet. It was hard to find anything positive to say about any of our 6 tapas dishes. Awful overcooked prawns in a bowl of tepid, tasteless liquid. Mushrooms that tasted soapy, a paella with nothing in it, average overall just way way way below average. Even the glass of wine I ordered tasted odd. I am sure a one off as past reviews are very good - but we sadly won’t be hurrying back despite the nice service.

I have been coming to Sebz once a week now for around 20 years. I am so familiar with the place that I have never bothered to write a review, but when I saw the one star review posted here a few days ago, I had to say something. The poster described Seb (the owner and sometime chef) as being sexist and xenophobic. Whilst he could never be described as a ray of sunshine or a perfect optimist, I have never, in 20 years, heard that man make any such remarks. Further, he has never mentioned Indian immigrants or Brazilians in Portugal at all (and we have had weekly discussions about politics, Portugal, Madeira, the UK and the EU.) I would also like to add that the food is delicious and the service excellent (often thanks to the lovely Eva.) Just don't get him started about football...

Absolutely dreadful experience! The salmon dish arrived with cold, fridge-tasting salmon, and the bread was stale, hard, and drenched in oil. However, the low point was yet to come. During our family lunch, the owner made utterly unacceptable remarks that were both sexist and xenophobic. As a Portuguese restaurateur, he saw fit to disparage Indian immigrants in England, drawing an inappropriate parallel to Brazilians in Portugal. His comments were not only rude but completely uncalled for. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this establishment.

Today was the 1st time I have ever been to this restaurant. I worked opposite for nearly 5 years around 15 years ago and never been lol. My joint birthday & valentines celebrated a week late, but I finally chose here. I do need to start off by saying that I have had gastric sleeve surgery and can only eat small amounts of food, one reason I chose Tapas. This restaurant is always busy, so hubby chose a Tuesday. Thankfully, it was quiet. My hubby also chose tapas rather than pizza. 3 dishes in a week day is £16.95. We started off with Mozzerela bread. Deep base bread, with garlic butter & motz with a thin crust bread on top. Unique style, very nice & not overly garlicky. I recommend it. Hubby chose calamari, belly pork & beef in sauce. Polished it all off. I had hallpumi in honey with letters, calamari & pork ribs in bbq sauce. Omg I have to say, it's not tapas as I know it. These are not small dishes. We could have shared the 3 plates I had, not buying 3 each 🤣. They should have been smaller or offered a smaller mini selection for small eaters as I now am. The ribs were amazing. Melt in the mouth. Had 7 large ribs. 3 would have been perfect. I should have chosen another tapas rather than the calamari & halloumi. The calamari was too many, at least 15 on the plate. 5 is enough. And despite nice thin batter, it was way too salty, and I could only eat 3. Such a waste of food. The halloumi was a mistake for me, very squeaky it Sent shivers down my spine. I just had 2 small corners off it. I would have preferred it as battered fries with a chilli jam or something. That was also a waste of food. It was half a block. The resurarant is clean, tidy, clutter free, and I love the layout & mood lighting. I have 1 additional negative. It was too cold and there was no heating. It was a cold, wet night and felt as cold inside until I got back home. Hence my 4* rating. I would revisit again 1 day. But further surgery will prevent this as I could just not cope with so much food and waste of food & money. I am glad I finally got to go. If offered a daytime, bottomless brunch tapas style, this would be ideal 👌

Not eaten here in a while as our last meal there wasn’t great. But my husband said let’s try it again , they had a last minute table available, we turned up a little earlier than the time I booked over the phone, but we were seated straight away, the waiting staff lovely, particularly the lady, very attentive and friendly. The food was tasty, hot and fresh, we were recommended the potato bread that was made in house, well worth the extra , absolutely delicious. Sangria tasty too. I was too stuffed for a pudding, but they had a special on that was a chocolate carrot cake, so the waitress said she wrapped it for me for a takeaway . I had it today and I can confirm it was gorgeous. Definitely will be going again. Thanks. Keep it up guys.

Food was cooked really well and had lots of flavour, I dropped a score as the bread on brushetta was hard and calamari not normal standards, which was a shame. We arrived relatively early at roughly 5pm to an empty restaurant and positively greeted by the lovely waitress (Eva I believe her name was?). We were seated on a fairly uncomfortable chair in quite a dim area, so was quite difficult to see what was happening on the table when eating. After being seated we were quickly asked about drinks and were presented with a menu. We went with a Sangria (which was out of this world!) and a Coca Cola. After this arrived, our food order was taken to which was a poorly presented menu with fairly confusing instructions and terrible descriptions for the food items, not to mention the fact the menu itself was a bulky slat of wood - weird idea? Despite us being the only customers at the time of being served, it still took 45 minutes for our first round of courses to arrive. Food Ordered: // Chicken stuffed with mozzarella — Dense as a rock, had a really solid texture on the inside and was very chewy for a piece of chicken. Felt like I was eating gum. Parma ham was nice and well baked on the outside. // Piri Piri Chicken — Similar texture problem to the previous. Most of the chicken items received were either thighs or leg, and didn’t actually have much “meat” on them, majority was either carcass or pure bone(inedible). Sauce itself was tasty, quite thin in terms of consistency though - normally I’d opt for a slightly thicker option but nice nonetheless. // Fried Potatoes — Basically just cubes of potatoes stuck in a deep fat fryer drowned in salt. Nothing special at all. Dip provided was way too spicy and overpowering to accompany the food, wouldn’t recommend. // Breaded Mozzarella Bites?? — Coating was cohesive and crispy, though very bland. It came glazed in honey, presentation of that looked abysmal (literally looked like the honey was dropped and drowning the poor cheese bites :(). Honey had a chilli taste too it, far too overpowering for this dish. Additionally, as you work your way through multiple courses, you’ll begin to realise your portion sizes getting increasingly smaller. For example, on the first round of Piri Piri Chicken, I was presented with a leg, breast, and thigh. On the second round a leg and thigh. Third round, just 2 thighs, of which 80% was inedible. I’ve seen better food presentation done by my younger brother in his secondary school catering lessons than here. It’s kind of just shamelessly thrown on a plate and served to the table. This put me off the food before I even entered the building. If it wasn’t for a very excited partner looking to relive her childhood memories at this place, I wouldn't have come. Disappointing to say the least. Menu choice was pretty s*** to say the least. Wouldn’t say this represents a med tapas restaurant, and to echo a previous review, it looks like a bunch of Iceland party food bits smacked into a bowl and nuked in the microwave for 60 seconds. For 26£ each, I expected world class hospitality. I’d expect this quality from a chicken shop on Barton street delivered by an Uber eats driver called Akmed. Not to mention, when ordering our 2nd round of items, the bald bowling ball chef rolled down the stairs and began shouting at the waitress about our order due to her poor handwriting. He seemed very stressed about a table of two, must burst a few blood vessels cooking for a table of 3! Where the waitress was lovely, and she definitely helped during our evening meal, she was rather eager to share her art with us and proceeded to showcase it to us, amongst other tables of which we observed during the evening. I wouldn’t say she forced us, but she was rather keen to put us in a position where we should buy a card from her, which as far as I’m aware - wasn’t a part of the Sebz business. The item was lovely however, though she insisted we pay cash for the item. When we noted we were not able to do this, she added it to the bill and we were charged service charge on that amount! All in all, this put us off significantly and won’t be returning to somewhere that treats their staff and customers so poorly.

A hidden gem of Gloucester serving Tapas at fair prices. We came in the late afternoon on a Saturday when it was reasonably quiet and had an excellent experience. We were asked if we wanted to try the homemade bread, a cheesy garlic sourdough-style bread that cost £5.50. It was excellent, and we had no regrets. We each ordered 3 tapas and our total bill was £43 inclusive of a 10% service charge, which we were happy to pay. The tapas was delicious with fair portion sizes considering the quality on offer - the peppers stuffed with rice and patatas bravas were both particularly nice. The hostess was especially accommodating with respect to allergies. We will be back.

What the heck was I just served?! This in no way resembles Mediterranean tapas. More like a child's buffet of the Iceland frozen party food section served at my 6th birthday disco. Bland, random, poor quality. Staff then proceeded to try and overcharge the table by £100 of 'service fee'. We didn't pay this, you shouldn't either. No real vegan options either for vegan guests, and the general price is extortionate for the toot they serve here. £5 for 3 scoops of the worst quality vanilla ice cream for a 'dessert'. Also, make sure to bring arctic level ski jackets for the toilet or you're at risk of catching hypothermia. All in all, broaden your horizons and literally eat anywhere else. Taco Bell a few streets down would give you a more authentic international cuisine experience.

The menus in the restaurant didn’t match that online and was reduced in size. Tried a selection of dishes and the majority of them all had this brown sauce all over, and was very samey. My partner had the calamari which she enjoyed along. When we popped to the loo you can see into the kitchen. The sight of this entirely showed trays of precooked meets etc and didnt look very clean. Very expensive for the quality and we won’t be returning. Definitely don’t visit if you are expecting a selection of quality tapas dishes … you won’t get it!

We went to Sebz Saturday evening for my friends birthday. We were a group of 6 and that evening they had a very large group in. We were sat towards the back of the restaurant and so close to our neighbouring table that formed an L behind us, that waiters and anyone else struggled to get through. I angled my chair so there would be a bit more space, but that meant I was uncomfortable all evening until the table left. It would have also meant that no disabled person would have easily been able to go through as there was simply no space. The service was very slow, my table ordered a second round of tapas and it took around 30 minutes, despite the fact that the big table had already been served and tables had left. The first round of tapas had a tapas missing and I had the risotto and red peppers meal, the risotto was still slightly crunchy so I left my meal. The ambience is great and the team are clearly very happy there which is always really nice to see ☺️ but things kept getting forgotten, we had also asked for more water and it never materialised. But drinks kept trying to get pushed, despite us saying no thank you. It is a lovely local spot.

Not really the place it once was. Last time we were there (and it will be the last time) we had only been served one dish in over 90 minutes before we had to leave as we all had other places to be. Sebz still insisted on trying to charge us the full £23 each for the single dish they had managed to serve us. There could have been any number of reasons why the service was slow that night, but to try to charge us for the all you can eat menu speaks volumes to me about how this place is run.

We love coming here mid-week and taking advantage of their mid-week pricing on the tapas; you get to chose 3 dishes per person for a fixed price (or you can have as much as you like for a higher fixed price) off the tapas menu....

The food here is sensational. The service was also sensational. The Greek salad took me back 45 years to my youth when I used eat the home made salads of my best mate’s Greek-Cypriot family! Brilliant!

Phenomenal food & service 😋 Went for my daughter's birthday and they couldn't do enough, including dealing with a vegetarian and gluten intolerance.

Excellent service lead to a memorable evening, with a comprehensive range of interesting tapas and olives, all tasted great, the full bodied Portuguese wine was most acceptable and hostess had no problem allowing a celebration cake onto the table providing knives and plates as well....

Ate at Sebz with my two youngest daughters, we were lucky enough to wander in without a booking. We chose to have a selection of tapas. Menu is extensive, food is amazing, service is great, staff are very friendly and helpful. 100% recommend and will certainly return
