Viento Delevante in Chichester

Difficulty in finding location but once welcomed inside by Alison just new we were on to a winner. Delish food coupled with great service made it a winner. We will return. Thank you 👌

Have been for two events six months apart and both times the sink in the women's toilet has smelled of sewage and you can smell it in the restaurant. This time we were sat on the table next to the toilets and asked to move and were told we couldn't so just had to eat while we could smell sewage. Also, damp on the walls kept dripping on two of our group. Food service was very slow and portions small for the prices - especially meat dishes. Took over 20 minutes from the time our first dishes were brought out until the last ones.

Visited with large group of work colleagues and was a little disappointed. Wasn’t as good as when I previously visited on a couple of occasions. Whilst the service was really good, I felt half the dishes were quite disappointing. The king prawns were not great and only 5 tiger prawns in the dish which wasn’t worth the cost. Very overpriced. We paid a deposit per head before arrival. However this wasn’t taken off bill at the end. When we advised that we had paid this large amount already the waitress said the boss hadn’t left anything to say we had!!!! She asked to take a screen shot of the transaction to send to her boss. Firstly that’s very unprofessional thing to do and secondly thank god we didn’t pay deposit in cash or we would have had no proof. The waitress was lovely and could not fault the service but don’t think I would hurry back

Went here for dinner on Saturday. The food was very good and sensibly portioned - we had 6 tapas between the two of us and was reasonably priced - apart from the bread starter which was very small. The service was ok if a bit on the slow side but the let-down were the toilets - doors not able to be locked and water (I hope) leaking on the floor.

Me and my partner came for a lovely valentines meal. Couldn’t have been better! The food was flavoursome, the atmosphere was lovely and the waitresses were all friendly and tended to your every need. Would definitely go back!

We have been here many times, but were disappointed this visit. Portions smaller & more bland. Also noticed that we were short of some dishes, & no apology was made when we had to ask for them to be brought.

Very tasty levantine Spanish tapas fusion in a semi subterranean dining room. Deserved to be busier than it was.

Food & atmosphere are excellent!

Visited for my husband’s birthday. It was very busy. The card machine was not working. Bad start had to go and get cash. The waitresses were doing their best but service was incredibly slow. It was over an hour before any food appeared. Food itself was ok. After asking for bill no one came to take the cash so it was left on the bar on our way out. Not a special birthday experience at all.

Lovely atmosphere, yummy food, good portion sizes, great service. Perfect place to go for date night, or with family. Didn't have a dessert but had a Chocolate Martini and I recommend trying it as it was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to visit again.

Lovely evening meal, service was excellent, food very good, deep fried aubergine with honey just melted in the mouth. Couldn't fault it and finished with a Creme Brulee with what I think was orange zest which was amazing, definitely going back to this hidden little gem soon, thank you!

Just away from the main town centre is this absolute gem of a tapas bar. We sat on the sunny terrace for an early evening dinner. The food was scrumptious. We had tapas with a very fine bottle of cava. And, more importantly there was an extensive vegan choice.

Our absolute favourite restaurant! EVERY plate is always more delicious than the last. The wait staff are lovely and the atmosphere just perfect for a romantic evening out.

We were looking forward to taste the different tapas at this restaurant. Really disappointed we were . The flavours were not there. The gambas al ajillo were the wrong sauce did not have any garlic. El pollo al ajillo the same is was sort of like chicken stew no flavours of garlic. Albóndigas de Pollo horrible. Patatas bravas need to have some mayonnaise and had just tomato sauce. I could mention more other dishes that we had , but is not worthy. If you are looking for a good Spanish tapas restaurant this is not the place for sure. We will never go back in there.

Fantastic food, excellent service. Thoroughly recommend! We came here for dinner before going to the theatre. It's worth finding! It's hidden away but a delightful find. If you like tapas you won't be disappointed and if you've never tried it then this is an excellent place to start!

Sweet little place with great staff and nice atmosphere. The food let it all down terribly. Almost all of the tapas we chose was from frozen, and was either not good or strange and crumbly and dry. We realised we could do better if we made it ourselves, and that's when you know it's no good. A bottle of wine with a comic sans label cost us £30 and was pretty terrible too.

Had a lovely evening but was let down by the service. Ordered the 17 dish tapas for 4 but only 13 dishes arrived. They then brought the other four after we had to remind them. Had to ask 3 times for a drink as they forgot twice. They said they had only 1 rice pudding left, then a member of staff sits at a table next to us eating a rice pudding. Staff should never sit at a table in a restaurant with customers. When questioned about it the manager said the rice pudding was out of date that’s why the staff member was eating it. ALARM BELLS 🔔

The food was nice but the service was not good. There were only a few tables occupied but we found the service was slow . Dessert arrived and the table had not been cleared from the main meal. The menu was not up to date either. For this reason I don't feel I would recommend and I would not return.

Lovely cellar but not much atmosphere. Very poor service. Took forever to get the pitta bread. A second bear order was mistaken by one of the waitresses who brought us mussels and then confronted us saying we will have to pay it anyway as we requested and she could not afford it as she works to support her daughter. This situation spoiled the evening, we all agreed to pay for the dish but we felt the management of this restaurant is horrible. We were not charged at the end but we had a very unnecessary unpleasant moment. The food was nice though

Surprisingly good, Grilled Sardines delightful, Hummus tasty, Whitebait awesome and bread was fantastic this year....even better.,. highly recommend

Awful slow and quite rude service even with a pre order

The kitchen struggles, you'll be waiting 40mins minimum for your food & while the food itself is ok, it's nothing I would recommend. I have 2 fantastic tapas restaurants near my home, VERY authentic - this restaurant is not authentic, a mix of Turkish & Spanish. I know tapas are small portions but some of these dishes were ridiculous - Salmon & Prawn Skewers (2 skewers for £7), 4 very mini meatballs £7, literally 1 & a half tablespoons of feta & cottage cheese dip for £7. Just a rip off. Meanwhile lots of other dishes, including chorizo, in a cream sauce which is not aligned with Spanish food. We spent over £77 for 7 dishes / 2 people & still hungry. I will say the drinks were spectacular (cocktails & mocktails) & the waitresses are great servers, the kitchen lets them down. Wouldn't recommend.

Very poor service, slow and missing few taps from our order. Asked for the desert menu and they forget about us...well already forget about that. The tapas was ok but not the best. The atmosphere and room decorations are very appealing. Visited this restaurant a few years ago, previous name" El Castizo" was absolutely stunning. At the moment, not the same. Sorry but doesn't worth the price/quality.

Can't belive our luck that we stumbled on such an exceptional but unassuming gem! Having visited Chichester for the weekend my husband and I were looking for a place to stop for lunch. As tapas is a favourite we Googled for a local spot and Viento De Levante popped up. A little out of the centre of the town (about a 5-10 min walk) we found the restaurant tucked away on a multiuse commercial site. Located in the basement, the restaurant itself is situated in a small but wonderfully decorated, vaulted ceilinged hideaway. You can imagine it being like a Speakeasy in 1930s America. Not big but certainly big enough the restaurant offered both indoor and outside tables. Service was impeccable and we were shown to our table on arrival. Water was brought to the table and drinks order taken. The menu is a lovely mix of authentic tapas and Mediterranean dishes. As lunch, we were conservative with our order. When the food arrived the flavours were magnificent - so many layers and textures. Really amazing lunchtime treat at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend!

We have been here several times, and the food is always good. However, the service is quite slow, and we noticed that the portion sizes seem smaller than they used to be. Perhaps smaller portions is a good thing as in the past we tended to feel stuffed, whereas we just felt pleasantly full. Liked the cocktails & sitting outside in the sunshine is always a delight.

Good sized portions, very attentive staff, delicious food and wine, reasonably priced. Only visited at lunchtimes so atmosphere not busy but planning an evening visit soon. Just lovely.

Ate here on a Saturday evening so, unsurprisingly, it was very busy. There was a good selection of different tapas choices, including some less common ones, and they were all very tasty. The 'cellar style' of the restaurant space means that the acoustics are pretty poor, so, when busy, it is very noisy. Fine for meeting with friends but romantic couples might prefer a quieter venue! Unfortunately we felt let down by the service. There was one young woman who was obviously more experienced than the others but was rushed off her feet trying to hold everything together. We do appreciate that the hospitality sector is struggling with staffing at present but the others were clearly very inexperienced; they definitely need more training in welcoming customers, and generally being much more attentive and aware. We also received a different Malbec than the one listed on the menu but the young woman who brought it was so busy we couldn't attract her attention to query this. It wasn't the 'full bodied' wine we had ordered but, as it was fine with tapas, we just let it go and took it on trust that it was comparable in price!

We visited Chichester for the weekend and had a fantastic meal here. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing, plus it was great to have such a good selection of vegetarian dishes. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We found Viento Delevante on trip advisor and were very pleased we took the trouble to find it, just a short walk from the city centre. The host was welcoming and the food tapas were excellent.

A bit hard to find but boy is it worth it! Retro cellar room, charming helpful staff and simply great food at prices that won’t break your bank. If 4-6 of you, get 3 dishes each - there’ll be plenty to go around!

This restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away underground in a cellar close to the theatre cinema. Difficult to find but once you do you can indulge in beautifully prepared tasty tapas all at a very reasonable price. The staff are very helpful and bring their Spanish, Turkish & Argentinian advice to assist your choices from the extensive menu. Go seek it out!

Very disappointed. We have been going to this restaurant for many years (including under the previous ownership before they moved back to Madrid). I booked a table online for a wedding anniversary and mentioned this again when I received a call back to confirm the booking. My exact words were 'please could I have a quiet romantic table for 2'. I wanted to book for 7pm but was told that nothing was available until 8pm so we agreed to the later booking. We turned up just before 8pm and as soon as we walked in we were 'hit' with the volume of noise from a table of around 14-16 young girls. They weren't just talking, they were shouting! The waitress tried to sit us at a table directly behind this group of girls and we had to ask to be moved further towards the corner of the restaurant. Obviously my request for a quiet romantic table was totally ignored. We decide to 'tough it out' and ordered drinks but within minutes, the noise level had reached a point where we couldn't hear ourselves speak. We left our table and told the waitress we were leaving (and could we have our £20 deposit back - oh yes, they ask you to pay this when booking!). Rather than receiving an apology, the staff really didn't care at all - we even paid for our drinks we had barely touched! Note to the owner - 1. if you're going to book in large noisy groups then please put them on the back wall of the restaurant away from other diners. 2. When people make bookings and ask for a 'quiet table' at least let them know that there are 'large groups' booked in and that it could get noisy. 3. Tell your staff that without customers, you don't have a business! Treat customers with a bit more respect!!! Having recently returned from Andalucia and having experienced great service and fabulous food from all the restaurants we visited, it's a shame that this restaurant can't look after customers in the same way. No more referrals to friends from me I'm afraid. You need to take note.

Called and they said kitchen closed at 9. We got there at 8 and got turned away as kitchen was closing early.
