Two of us for Lunch at the Blue Bell on Wednesday. Don't need to book ; at 12.30m there was no one there but by 1pm there were 4 tables in use so much better. Friendly service by the young waitress Emily. I had ham eggs and chips - I ordered from the main menu and the meal was huge - I should have ordered the same thing from the 'light' menu - it was only lunchtime after all. Good but far too large. Lynda had prawn and salmon salad which was also good except the salad was only lettuce; no toms/cues/etc. We had one crumble and custard between us - also good but far too large (£8). Cost was £25pp excluding tip but that included a coffee and a glass of wine. Recommended but ask for advice about sizes etc.

Wonderful community run pub. We were camping nearby and went to watch England in the Euros. All the locals we met were very welcoming and all those working there were very friendly

The Bluebell was the third overnight stop for a friend and I as we walked the South Downs Way. I booked directly with them but, despite repeated request, received no email confirmation of my booking. That notwithstanding, our welcome / check in upon arrival was warm an efficient and our (twin) room, though quite small, was modern, clean and well prepared. Oddly, it contained no TV. The dinner menu was reasonably varied and our meals were well prepared and delicious. Both bar and dining service were very good. In the morning, a fault in the kitchen meant no breakfasts could be prepared but the pub manager overcame this challenge with aplomb by arranging with the owner of the excellent village store (opposite) for her to open early and provide alternative food. Incidentally, during the evening, a wheelchair user came in for a drink and we noticed how both locals and staff engaged with him and facilitated his access to the bar etc. The manager told us this is a community owned / run venture and overall (we suspect in no small part due to him) we felt it was very good and on its way up. Finally, it is well placed for access to / from the South Downs Way.

I had a bedroom with shared shower room and it was clean and functional. The host Simon was friendly and helpful. For walkers, it's about 20 walk from the South Downs Way, and was my second stop on the walk from Winchester to Eastbourne. This review is of the accommodation which I would rate 4/5 while the restaurant would be 3/5. I have no hesitation in recommending it to walkers.

The service at The Bluebell was first class, our dog knocked over a drink and they replaced it free of charge without us asking. The meal was really nice too, it arrived quickly and was exactly as ordered.I would recommend this as a detour away from the South Downs Way.

We were disappointed with the food, expecting better for the price. The meals we had were ok but lacking in vegetables and extras. My meal was a fish pie. It contained lots of fish and was very tasty but was only accompanied with a few beans on the side. No bread was brought to the table. My friend had a steak pie accompanied by a small spoonful of mashed potato! I wouldn't recommend that you eat here if you have been out walking all day and have a ravenous appetite. The B&B was clean but again very expensive. We paid £105 for a twin room. And we shared the shower and toilet with the adjoining double! The radiator was turned off so the room was freezing when we went to bed. Lacking in personal touches for the price.

Decor/decorum was nice. Staff were nice enough.. Came in early evening with a couple of tables already inside. Food was okay but no wow factor to it. Didn’t think prices of items reflected what we got. They forgot an item that we ordered but gave us another item that we didn’t instead, so perhaps a mix up there. No check back to see how our meal was/for us to get another drink. Chorizo, calamari, mushrooms, a side salad with a med wine and bottle of beer with service charge came just shy of £60.. which I’m in two minds about, If it was worth it based on the overall visit. Overall experience was okay but wouldn’t go back in a hurry based on experience but perhaps a one off.

I think the staff are brilliant but this is not a genuine Spanish restaurant. No Paella? Chiporenes Sardinas ? Etc . No one had any Spanish language. Sorry guys nice try. But won’t be back .

We love the cafe at the Pallant - friendly, professional staff, nice atmosphere and delicious food. Booked a lunch there to treat my wife during a stroll around Chichester for the day.
