I think the staff are brilliant but this is not a genuine Spanish restaurant. No Paella? Chiporenes Sardinas ? Etc . No one had any Spanish language. Sorry guys nice try. But won’t be back .

We’re gutted we didn’t bite the bullet at coming here sooner! A gorgeous terrace to soak up the afternoon sun with some unbelievably good food and drinks and even better service. We will definitely be coming back here regularly and recommending to others!

An interesting location - if you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't find it. I accept that the place is in a cellar and largely occupied by parties of young people on a Friday night so I expected it to be noisy. However, it was surprisingly cold so we had to keep our coats on. The table we were shown to was for 6 or 8 and we were placed at one end right in the area of circulation of staff serving and and customers visiting the adjacent toilets. We did not feel welcomed! Service was a bit erratic and not very professional. The food came as one expects for a tapas but in a very peculiar order and we think that the patatas which came last were probably forgotten. Whitebait was not very fresh. The stuffed pimiento instead of being several small peppers was in one large one. The Berenjenas were definitely not baby aubergines but slices of a large one and was not particularly good. The wine was just OK. All in all a meal not enjoyed nor felt to be good value.

Lovely location for dinner with friends. Fabulous location with a huge selection of tapas options. As a table of six we shared and chose around 3 dishes each which was pleanty. The food was outstanding and unlike tapas I’ve had in the past, not greasy. When it came to splitting the bill (as some had alcohol) the staff happily took the different amounts. The only small negative is the room is quite echoey so if you are hard of hearing you will only hear those sat next to you. Will definitely be coming back, not to talk to my friends, but to eat the amazing food.

Great spanish themed restaurant

We always use trip advisor to choose where to eat when visiting places but sadly this did not live up to the reviews. The menu was missing a number of items (and as we were the first people in on a Saturday night they couldn’t have just run out) and the food that was served was not up to the quality we were expecting. Especially the mussels which had no seasoning. The finger bowl that was provided was cold water not warm. On the plus side the staff were lovely but sadly that couldn’t make up for the food. We will not be back.

As a lover of Spanish cuisine I'm usually disappointed with Tapas outside Spain. But I must say I couldn't be happier with the dishes I had. The croquetas were easily as good as anything I've had in Spain, and the seafood dishes were also superb. Looking forward to visiting again.

Which it was 30 (?) years ago when last I visited. Mixed, really friendly, quick gang of Waitresses looking after our party of 50 (a linked event with 32nd Chichester International Film Festival). A menu would have been good to know what we were expecting /eating. Ditto some Desserts / Coffee. Like so many restaurants with no drapes, carpet, other furnishings to absorb some of the sound it was really difficult to talk to anyone apart from your immediate neighbours. The Spanish dancer was incredibly energetic and quite a spectacle. Ditto the Flamenco guitarist. Hayling Seagoon

I can not recommend this restaurant. Having visited on May 5th this year, I realised that the prepaid deposit of £140 had not been subtracted from the final bill. Sadly the full receipt has not been kept. I contacted the restaurant in the following week and twice subsequently. Each time I have been assured that they will get back to me after checking their records. This has still not happened😤. As our total bill for 14 people was ~£530 which was paid on the night ~£38/ head which seems reasonable. I feel sure that the deposit was not subtracted. (£48/ head seems a bit steep for tapas especially as we did not consume a lot of alcohol). I am extremely frustrated by the complete lack of communication from the owner (Taya) and staff (Ali) who assure me each time that the matter will be dealt with. There has also been no answer to a Facebook message. You have my details so please get in touch. I do not intend to let this matter rest. Hence my need to bring this matter up as part of a negative review. Further to the review above I am pleased to report that this matter was concluded satisfactorily on 17th July when the deposit was finally refunded. We did not have a problem with the food or the service on the day, it was purely the way the matter was dealt with afterwards.

Hidden Away in a Trading Estate and a lovely find. Food really good. Surprisingly quiet for a Friday night - possible due to location. The kitchen shuts fairly early for a weekend so book and be on time

Great evening out celebrating a family members birthday. A mixture of adults and children present, and something for everyone on the menu. Food was beautiful and very filling. Staff were very friendly, attentive and did everything asked of them. Brilliant evening had by all. Highly recommend 😊

I would highly recommend getting the garlic bread with cheese with the gambas pil pil. The sauce is the best I've even had, and I couldn't stop dipping my garlic bread into the sauce 😋. The gambas palomitas was the highlight. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. The place is beautifully decorated and great for a group or romantic meal. A hidden gem you have to try.

Came on a Thursday evening for a table of two. Food was amazing. Cooked to perfection, lots of choice and reasonably priced. Drinks were a little bit slow to come out but they did have to change a barrel and apologized. Will go again. Highly recommend.

Very nice food, a good selection of well-flavoured dishes, some of which were pretty authentic. Will definitely come again. They could up their game enormously by correcting the spelling mistakes in the menu, and printing the menus on decent paper. Tatty dirty pieces of paper stapled together give a very poor image, this would be very easy to rectify.

Me and a friend have been coming for a long time how ever recently seen a decline in the food. Our most recent visit was extremely disappointing with a ‘new trial menu’ which was limited, basic and over priced. The few dishes we did order were no where near as good as it used too be, although you could tell it was freshly cooked, it was bland. The chicken confit was £11.95 and was tasteless. So disappointed, we will not be returning. The food isn’t a reflection on the staff who are very welcoming friendly!

Had such a lovely meal recently. The food is amazing! Really fresh and tasty. No cheap rubbish! The staff are super friendly too which all in all creates a fab atmosphere. I'm coming back for my birthday!

Great choice for a date night. The food was very tasty, good sized portions and the wine, Tinto Rioja, was a delicious pairing. Lovely staff, so friendly and welcoming. They apologised for the wait but we were in and out within an hour and ten and had stuffed 8 dishes in our bellies! Also, very reasonable pricing per tapas. We will be back!

Came here on Tuesday evening (16/4) and had an amazing evening with a friend. We ordered plenty of food between the two of us, and with a drink each the bill was £60 (including service) and we were very pleasantly surprised. The ambience of the restaurant was great and the service was attentive. Will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent tapas. The entrance is a bit intimidating and it tries too hard with faux Spanish, but the food was excellent. Outstanding Fabada Asturiana, really nicely done lamb cutlet, a great take on pardon peppers with deep fried long peppers. Reasonably priced for such great quality, if it were inside Chichester's walls it could probably charge double

Very disappointing- we eat there last night - we had tried the previous Spanish here before lockdown and it was lovely food and great service, but this is very different now. The menu was very limited, no paella on offer atall in a Spanish restaurant! The other tapas was very limited selection and more of an English take on a Spanish menu. The service wasn’t great either- left empty dishes on our very small table for ages before noticing. Empty glasses for over half an hour before we had to ask for a refill! Expensive for what it was, so definitely won’t be going again,

Have been for two events six months apart and both times the sink in the women's toilet has smelled of sewage and you can smell it in the restaurant. This time we were sat on the table next to the toilets and asked to move and were told we couldn't so just had to eat while we could smell sewage. Also, damp on the walls kept dripping on two of our group. Food service was very slow and portions small for the prices - especially meat dishes. Took over 20 minutes from the time our first dishes were brought out until the last ones.

Visited with large group of work colleagues and was a little disappointed. Wasn’t as good as when I previously visited on a couple of occasions. Whilst the service was really good, I felt half the dishes were quite disappointing. The king prawns were not great and only 5 tiger prawns in the dish which wasn’t worth the cost. Very overpriced. We paid a deposit per head before arrival. However this wasn’t taken off bill at the end. When we advised that we had paid this large amount already the waitress said the boss hadn’t left anything to say we had!!!! She asked to take a screen shot of the transaction to send to her boss. Firstly that’s very unprofessional thing to do and secondly thank god we didn’t pay deposit in cash or we would have had no proof. The waitress was lovely and could not fault the service but don’t think I would hurry back

Went here for dinner on Saturday. The food was very good and sensibly portioned - we had 6 tapas between the two of us and was reasonably priced - apart from the bread starter which was very small. The service was ok if a bit on the slow side but the let-down were the toilets - doors not able to be locked and water (I hope) leaking on the floor.

Me and my partner came for a lovely valentines meal. Couldn’t have been better! The food was flavoursome, the atmosphere was lovely and the waitresses were all friendly and tended to your every need. Would definitely go back!

We have been here many times, but were disappointed this visit. Portions smaller & more bland. Also noticed that we were short of some dishes, & no apology was made when we had to ask for them to be brought.

Food & atmosphere are excellent!

Visited for my husband’s birthday. It was very busy. The card machine was not working. Bad start had to go and get cash. The waitresses were doing their best but service was incredibly slow. It was over an hour before any food appeared. Food itself was ok. After asking for bill no one came to take the cash so it was left on the bar on our way out. Not a special birthday experience at all.

The best tapas i have had in a long time. We went with a hen party the staff were very accommodating .

Lovely atmosphere, yummy food, good portion sizes, great service. Perfect place to go for date night, or with family. Didn't have a dessert but had a Chocolate Martini and I recommend trying it as it was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to visit again.

Lovely evening meal, service was excellent, food very good, deep fried aubergine with honey just melted in the mouth. Couldn't fault it and finished with a Creme Brulee with what I think was orange zest which was amazing, definitely going back to this hidden little gem soon, thank you!

Just away from the main town centre is this absolute gem of a tapas bar. We sat on the sunny terrace for an early evening dinner. The food was scrumptious. We had tapas with a very fine bottle of cava. And, more importantly there was an extensive vegan choice.

Our absolute favourite restaurant! EVERY plate is always more delicious than the last. The wait staff are lovely and the atmosphere just perfect for a romantic evening out.

We were looking forward to taste the different tapas at this restaurant. Really disappointed we were . The flavours were not there. The gambas al ajillo were the wrong sauce did not have any garlic. El pollo al ajillo the same is was sort of like chicken stew no flavours of garlic. Albóndigas de Pollo horrible. Patatas bravas need to have some mayonnaise and had just tomato sauce. I could mention more other dishes that we had , but is not worthy. If you are looking for a good Spanish tapas restaurant this is not the place for sure. We will never go back in there.

Fantastic food, excellent service. Thoroughly recommend! We came here for dinner before going to the theatre. It's worth finding! It's hidden away but a delightful find. If you like tapas you won't be disappointed and if you've never tried it then this is an excellent place to start!

Sweet little place with great staff and nice atmosphere. The food let it all down terribly. Almost all of the tapas we chose was from frozen, and was either not good or strange and crumbly and dry. We realised we could do better if we made it ourselves, and that's when you know it's no good. A bottle of wine with a comic sans label cost us £30 and was pretty terrible too.

Had a lovely evening but was let down by the service. Ordered the 17 dish tapas for 4 but only 13 dishes arrived. They then brought the other four after we had to remind them. Had to ask 3 times for a drink as they forgot twice. They said they had only 1 rice pudding left, then a member of staff sits at a table next to us eating a rice pudding. Staff should never sit at a table in a restaurant with customers. When questioned about it the manager said the rice pudding was out of date that’s why the staff member was eating it. ALARM BELLS 🔔

Lovely cellar but not much atmosphere. Very poor service. Took forever to get the pitta bread. A second bear order was mistaken by one of the waitresses who brought us mussels and then confronted us saying we will have to pay it anyway as we requested and she could not afford it as she works to support her daughter. This situation spoiled the evening, we all agreed to pay for the dish but we felt the management of this restaurant is horrible. We were not charged at the end but we had a very unnecessary unpleasant moment. The food was nice though

The food was nice but the service was not good. There were only a few tables occupied but we found the service was slow . Dessert arrived and the table had not been cleared from the main meal. The menu was not up to date either. For this reason I don't feel I would recommend and I would not return.

Awful slow and quite rude service even with a pre order

The kitchen struggles, you'll be waiting 40mins minimum for your food & while the food itself is ok, it's nothing I would recommend. I have 2 fantastic tapas restaurants near my home, VERY authentic - this restaurant is not authentic, a mix of Turkish & Spanish. I know tapas are small portions but some of these dishes were ridiculous - Salmon & Prawn Skewers (2 skewers for £7), 4 very mini meatballs £7, literally 1 & a half tablespoons of feta & cottage cheese dip for £7. Just a rip off. Meanwhile lots of other dishes, including chorizo, in a cream sauce which is not aligned with Spanish food. We spent over £77 for 7 dishes / 2 people & still hungry. I will say the drinks were spectacular (cocktails & mocktails) & the waitresses are great servers, the kitchen lets them down. Wouldn't recommend.

Very poor service, slow and missing few taps from our order. Asked for the desert menu and they forget about us...well already forget about that. The tapas was ok but not the best. The atmosphere and room decorations are very appealing. Visited this restaurant a few years ago, previous name" El Castizo" was absolutely stunning. At the moment, not the same. Sorry but doesn't worth the price/quality.

Can't belive our luck that we stumbled on such an exceptional but unassuming gem! Having visited Chichester for the weekend my husband and I were looking for a place to stop for lunch. As tapas is a favourite we Googled for a local spot and Viento De Levante popped up. A little out of the centre of the town (about a 5-10 min walk) we found the restaurant tucked away on a multiuse commercial site. Located in the basement, the restaurant itself is situated in a small but wonderfully decorated, vaulted ceilinged hideaway. You can imagine it being like a Speakeasy in 1930s America. Not big but certainly big enough the restaurant offered both indoor and outside tables. Service was impeccable and we were shown to our table on arrival. Water was brought to the table and drinks order taken. The menu is a lovely mix of authentic tapas and Mediterranean dishes. As lunch, we were conservative with our order. When the food arrived the flavours were magnificent - so many layers and textures. Really amazing lunchtime treat at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend!

We have been here several times, and the food is always good. However, the service is quite slow, and we noticed that the portion sizes seem smaller than they used to be. Perhaps smaller portions is a good thing as in the past we tended to feel stuffed, whereas we just felt pleasantly full. Liked the cocktails & sitting outside in the sunshine is always a delight.

Good sized portions, very attentive staff, delicious food and wine, reasonably priced. Only visited at lunchtimes so atmosphere not busy but planning an evening visit soon. Just lovely.

What an amazing gem of a restaurant 😊. Food was phenomenal, cocktails outstanding. Staff were accommodating. But our server was initially reserved, but we continued to be polite & grateful. She eventually relaxed & warmed up 😎. Thank you for a great experience.

A lovely atmosphere and tasty food. Took a little bit of funding but really glad we found it! The staff were friendly and helpful with food suggestions. The mushrooms in red wine and garlic were a great recommendation!

Ate here on a Saturday evening so, unsurprisingly, it was very busy. There was a good selection of different tapas choices, including some less common ones, and they were all very tasty. The 'cellar style' of the restaurant space means that the acoustics are pretty poor, so, when busy, it is very noisy. Fine for meeting with friends but romantic couples might prefer a quieter venue! Unfortunately we felt let down by the service. There was one young woman who was obviously more experienced than the others but was rushed off her feet trying to hold everything together. We do appreciate that the hospitality sector is struggling with staffing at present but the others were clearly very inexperienced; they definitely need more training in welcoming customers, and generally being much more attentive and aware. We also received a different Malbec than the one listed on the menu but the young woman who brought it was so busy we couldn't attract her attention to query this. It wasn't the 'full bodied' wine we had ordered but, as it was fine with tapas, we just let it go and took it on trust that it was comparable in price!

We visited Chichester for the weekend and had a fantastic meal here. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing, plus it was great to have such a good selection of vegetarian dishes. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We found Viento Delevante on trip advisor and were very pleased we took the trouble to find it, just a short walk from the city centre. The host was welcoming and the food tapas were excellent.

A bit hard to find but boy is it worth it! Retro cellar room, charming helpful staff and simply great food at prices that won’t break your bank. If 4-6 of you, get 3 dishes each - there’ll be plenty to go around!
