A warm welcome with very friendly helpful staff. Food was delicious, that is great value and generous portions. Worth a trip!

Popped in for an on-the-go breakfast takeaway for the family on our way out for the day. Food was really great value and super tasty. We got lattes, breakfast bap, breakfast baguette and toasted tea cake. Best coffee I've had. Highly recommended for anyone passing.

Sopped by for a takeaway coffee over the wet bank holiday weekend and it was one of the nicest coffee’s I’ve had. Then discovered Scarletts allow dogs so returned for a cooked breakfast on our way home, it was really good. The staff were all really friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. I think it’s family run, they should be really proud of themselves. All in all a lovely cafe. Definitely recommend.

Dropped by Scarlets on one of their evening openings. Had a warm welcome and enjoyed a delicious lentil burger with all the trimmings. The veggie burger is one of the nicest I've tried, highly recommend. The fries were just right, crisp outer with fluffy inside and salad was lovely. The meal hit the spot on a saturday when I didn't want to cook. Ideal.

A lovely little stop off after a cold walk on Dartmoor. Visited at lunchtime on a Monday with family and it was lovely and friendly, warm and cosy. I had the pea and bacon soup and it was huge! So tasty and just what we needed after a chilly walk!

My friend and I met here for lunch with our 2 babies before going for a walk. Our meals were fine and decent portions for the price but unfortunately the customer service we received will probably result in neither of us returning again. We sat at a central table with our 2 babies in car seat prams. We had done so on purpose to ensure we were not obstructing the cafe. The cafe was not overly busy, being a week day, and there were several empty tables around us. Two different members of staff had taken our drink and food orders and not mentioned any issues with our seating arrangements. However while we were eating our food a female member of staff came over to us and in a rude manner told us to move as we were blocking the aisles. She did not offer to help move us to the alternative table (which had not been cleaned since the last people left), despite us having babies, drinks and half eaten food to move. Given that we were mid way through eating we decided not to move but we felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome and as such as soon as we finished eating we packed up and left. While I was getting my bag on the pram, ready to leave, the same member of staff barged past me and left the cafe. This is unacceptable in my opinion, there was plenty of room to get by!! I definitely do not recommend this cafe to those with babies in prams. Rude and unaccommodating. It is such a shame as I live locally and now feel uncomfortable about going back. It was my friend's first visit to Scarlets and I know she will not go again after this.

This was a surprising discovery as we've walked and cycled in the area for many years. Had eggs on toast with extras and it was really nicely done and very quickly. Prices are pretty reasonable and staff friendly. Will be back.

We visited yesterday for a light lunch and it was perfect. Even though it was fairly busy we were served quickly by a friendly waitress. Our panini was delicious. Thank you to all at Scarlets, see you again soon!

Always have the best breakfast here. The food is spot on and the staff are polite and friendly. I have the regular all day breakfast and it is plentiful and good quality. Hubby has the larger breakfast. We’ve tried other places for breakfast but Scarlets is the best.

Would liked to have given zero but trip adviser won't let you. Where do we start ,it has a five food hygiene rating ,ordered a breakfast ,didnt actually hear anything cooking ,when it came it looked poor quality ,the sausage was luke warm and appeared to be frozen and cooked in a chip fryer and reheated,the bacon was probably pre cooked the same and cool temperature,no tinned tomatoes ,eggs were slightly undercooked ,there was no consistency with the temperatures the beans and mushrooms were scalding hot but the rest luke warm I also suspect the toast and fried bread was pre cooked ,in general very poor quality they are next door to another food establishment so would have expected a lot better ,the waffle with bacon and egg came with one largish waffle and one rasher of bacon and one egg would have expected more for the money ,tea was horrid coffee just passable ,as for the food hygiene rating 3 people in the kitchen no sign of any handwashing between handling cash and food and no hairnets ,nearly empty sauce bottles sat on a shelf with other condiments next to the toilet door ,there was also cardboard rubbish behind the counter visible to customers it just didn't look good won't be back and can't recommend a visit ,

Stopped here for a snack which was Bacon & Brie Toasted Sandwich also the Vegetarian Stew Sandwiches were large with a small salad and very delicious The Stew was tasty more liquid would have improved it Staff seemed new no smile no welcome concentrating on getting the orders right Would return

Visit during current COVID-19 tier 2. Hand sanitiser not working on entering.Waited for table service - felt we were an afterthought which was shoddy as few customers. Coffee was passable if you stick sugar in it, waffles were more like biscuits. Was asked to go to the counter to pay although notices required customers to be seated - just felt the staff were lazy. A perfect position for a pit stop - won’t be going back.

I've eaten here a couple of times and it's always a bit hit and miss. Went there today for lunch. Went in and there were 2 empty tables. The woman said they are reserved and a table should come up in a few minutes but was told I had to stand outside. This I did despite it being cold and wet. The next thing was another woman put a sign in the door saying no queuing outside the cafe. Absolutely ridiculous and a rude inconsiderate way to treat a customer. Will NEVER go to this place again. Great place for a meal or snack. Staff friendly and helpful. Decent selection on the menu and good size portions. Will be back! Tables socially distanced and all rules followed as far as we could see.

Working from home and needed some lunch. I usually have pasty on rare occasion with no food in the house. I got a couple of takeaway sandwiches from scarlets and they where amazing will defo be back again. Very quick as well.

I visited the cafe today with my family. We were really impressed. The services was efficient and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and there were clean plates all round. The portions are good and the food is really good value for money.There's plenty to choose from on the menu, including Vegetarian and Vegan Options. I had the Vegetarian All Day Breakfast - really yummy.Highly recommend.

We visited Scarlets for lunch and couldn’t fault it at all. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. We felt completely at ease due to the additional hygiene procedures in place. Thank you. We will definitely return

I used to visit Scarlets Kitchen regularly until lockdown and have not been there for over 4 months. Now it is a case of getting my confidence back and getting out and about. The staff have done everything they can to keep themselves and customers as safe as possible - hand sanitizer by the door before you enter plus on the counter. Tables and chairs have been replaced and there are fewer of them with larger spaces for easy distancing. Plastic screen in front of the counter and detailed instructions on hygiene if you use the loo. They are operating reduced hours and a reduced menu until August when hours and food will return to normal. It was lovely to sit and enjoy a cuppa after such a long time and to feel reasonably at ease. Small steps gaining confidence but a much pleasanter experience than I expected

Food was amazing so fairly priced me my partner and 2 children had a a meal and it only cost £23 couldn’t believe it definitely recommend

After a few fabulous hours scenic walk to Crazy Pool up on Dartmoor, we ended our trip at the lovely Scarlet's kitchen. So glad see it is up and running. It's been so tough on everyone, not least of all on small independent businesses. Great to see you open and so well Covid prepared. Our lunch was just delicious . Locally produced burger was noticed immediately for being extra tasty and yummy and the floured bap finished it off just right. The coffee was a good, robust roast and slipped down a treat. Friendly service with a smile made the place a welcome stop. Would certainly visit again.

Nice Cakes and friendly Staff. Brought the drinks to the table, which doesn’t happen in a lot of Cafes nowadays. Offered a Loyalty Card - 5th drink free, (unlike Costa Coffee Shops where you need to purchase 30 Coffees to receive a free one). I noticed their Hygiene was only 4 stars.

Visited the shop at 4pm clean staff very friendly, food well presented an i would say value for money, dog friendly times 9am - 5pm M-S Sun 10am -4pm previous no issues with visiting again parking outside this shop,outside seating restricted, is more a cafe but to a higher standard go try !!

Staff are friendly and accommodating- I often taken residents from the support home I work in there. And the staff are patient, calm and understand which makes all the difference. The food is tasty and there are lots of choices. Puddings are delightful Highly recommend

Went in for a pasty which they didn’t have which was a let down but we had cheesy chips and a sweet chilli chicken wrap instead and were glad they didn’t have any pasties. Perfect food at a very reasonable price for takeaway

Have visited on 3 occasions recently with the first visit being the best as the waitress was so friendly. However have had a different waitress on the other occasions who appeared not to want to be there and she couldn’t be described as pleasant. The coffee is fine and the last time I went, I had a piece of cake which was okay. My friend had eggs on toast which she described as being the worst she’d ever had - and they certainly didn’t look appetising- anaemic toast and a foreign object in the scrambled egg.Despite my latter experiences, the place always seems busy...

Service is a mixed bag and very slow. Breakfasts are generally good but no better than a Wetherspoons, not sure if they use local produce.

Stopped here as a half way stop on a cycle ride, mid-morning on a Saturday. The cafe had only one spare table with a variety of guests from cyclists, walkers, dogs and dog walkers, local residents. One of the three young friendly waitresses took our order, we had bacon/sausage baps and lemon cake with tea and hot chocolate. Food came quickly, was delicious and hot. Good portion sizes. Would definitely return again.

Once again i decided on another spontaneous trip to this lovely cafe after a day at university, once again I was greeted with a warm welcome and lovely smile from the waitress who as usual service was incredible. Today I decided to be adventurous and try the BBQ pulled pork panini and it was cooked and served to perfection. If you haven’t already been here than I would say that your missing out and I would highly recommend you come here sooooon!!!!!

Needed a hot breakfast after an early dentist appointment - never been here before looked clean and the coffee looked nice. Server was busy talking to someone when I arrived and did not acknowledge. Then went and served two other ladies who arrived after me I heard him apologise for something and stated drinks were free. Took their order and then took mine. I chose cheese on toast with beans. Large latte arrived and was hot and stayed hot throughout breakfast. A large plate of cheese on toast with beans arrived after a couple of mouthfuls I realised the food was cold I tried some from the middle of the plate which was cold and it was still cold. I don’t like complaining but returned to the counter and stated the food was not hot the guy serving said no problem we will make you another. I heard the cook say it melted the cheese!! I said I don’t mind if you put in microwave. server stated bread would be soggy and insisted on making another we will make it smoulderingly hot. Second small plate of beans on toast with cheese sprinkled arrived and to my dismay was just as tepid as the first. To add insult to injury the toast was black! Server didn’t ask if everything was ok. Don’t think I will return especially as I have now read other reviews. Dartmoor diner for me next time.

Always a pleasure to eat at Viera's. Food is freshly cooked and staff are always friendly and efficient. The prices are very reasonable and you never leave hungry. Definitely Recommended.

I normally visit Vieira’s at least once a week with a client. The atmosphere is always lovely. The staff are friendly with smiles all round. It is decorated nicely with pictures on the walls making it a nice warm environment. The food is always freshly cooked and nicely presented. We always enjoy our time at Vieira’s and would recommend it to anyone wanting to go out for a meal. The prices are very reasonable and there is food and drink to cater for all ages and all mealtimes from breakfast items to full meals including jacket potatoes and fish and chips. I would give this cafe a 5* :)

We visited yesterday on our way to Plymouth. My husband had The breakfast wrap and describes it as awesome. I had brunch very tasty and daughter had chicken nuggets which she really enjoyed. Service was quick and friendly. The chef was very knowledgeable and I was very impressed when he served a nearby table of cyclists who had ordered pasties and no drinks. He offered them all a glass of water. The coffee was good Would definitely return.

10 of us went for breakfast on Saturday morning the breakfast was lovely and service was quick and freindly...... Would definitely go there again.

I've visited several times since the place opened and it seems to have changed. The staff were flat - no enthusiasm or smiles. I ordered a squash with my breakfast and was given a choice of flavours however I wasn't told that that flavour I chose was 3 times more expensive than the one I originally asked for and when I mentioned it to the waitress she said 'oh yeah I probably should have told you'. The food was okay, I had beans on toast which seemed to have been sitting around as the toast was very soggy. It seems to have turned from a nice little Portuguese place into a cafe for people waiting for a bus and older people which is great if that's what you're after but I probably won't go back.

Vieira’s is a lovely little cafe, that offers good quality food at a very reasonable price, the whole team at Vieira’s do a fantastic job at giving an extremely good service, they made me feel truely welcome. In my opinion this is the best cafe in the area. I recommend it to any body flying by, they cater for everyone’s needs and a bonus in this is that they let dogs in which was also useful to me.

Had a burger and chips today. The chips were tasteless, don't know how?? The burger was just a tasteless beef burger in a burnt roll. The small salad was nice. The capacino was ok. The younger chefs clothes looked filthy. Wouldn't go back again.

I have been to vieiras a couple of times now both times with family and i have to say the food was absoulty fantastic and served so quickly as well.The staff in there are so warm and welcoming especially the owner and the older women who both cooks and serves the food i would deffo recomennd this cafe to everyone.

We visiting Devon with my in-laws we decided to pay s visit to princetown but the cafe up there was to busy. So on way back we come across this little cafe. We decided to pop in for lunch . The staff was welcoming we had some very tasty breakfast which was brought out very quickly. We have been back again today and yet made to feel very welcome and as before very tasty foodx

I travel in from plymouth to go yelverton on a few occasions and have been to vieras a couple of times. Recently it has gone down hill and on Saturday one of the staff behaviour was nothing but embarrassing. A few workmen were in the cafe and the older girl working with piercings and too much make-up behaviour was awkward to say the least. She was simply interested in flirting with all those men. In front of us customers and other younger staff. It came across very desperate and I felt I was in a speed date than a cafe. She even took one of their numbers I believe. So I'm afraid as long as this appalling behaviour continues I won't be coming back. I'm very surprised I'm the only one to complain about this.

Ordered x 4 all day breakfast meals and specifically asked young waitress to ensure that the bacon was well cooked and no jelly on the eggs as this would be the difference of enjoying it or not. Unfortunately neither came as we requested and this matter was taken up with the same girl when paying for the meal. To say she was very rude and argumentative is an understatement. The cook came to address the issue and offered a reduction in the cost of the breakfast “hence 1 star rating” however this does not detract from the outright rudeness and lack of an apology. Furthermore our coffee was badly served and sloped over the table. When given the change the young girl was very aggressive and literally threw at me with rage.. They have just lost our custom and that of others that were also complaining about various issues. They need to address these issues or may face losing even more loyal customers.

A very reasonably priced and friendly cafe, with a good range of cakes - and will provide tea in a mug if asked! I haven't eaten a meal here but have heard from local friends that the food is well cooked, tasty and good value. Definitely worth a visit, particularly after a good walk in the area.

As our intended destination for a late lunch was closed (it was a Monday) we had a return visit to Vieira's for a couple of paninis and a pot of tea. It must have been very busy as several tables were uncleared and four others were occupied.

This is a good cafe with nice staff, decent food with a good menu. The prices are average, it's also...

I ordered a small breakfast and latte. Poor quality sausage and bacon and rock solid piece of fried bread that would break your teeth. No atmosphere or personality within this place and staff. Cold latte. Would not return.

Have just returned from having Sunday lunch (my husband's treat) at this place. Having booked a table we waited for twenty minutes for the food to be served. Thinking this was because the food was being freshly prepared, we were not too bothered but when it arrived it looked as if it had been put on a plate twenty minutes ago and put in the oven. The beef was dried out and then covered with a glue like substance masquerading as gravy. Roast potatoes were dried out and the broccoli undercooked. This was our first visit to this café and it will certainly be the last. I think as a café it does quite well, catering for passing trade but, it should stick to what it knows and not pretend to be a restaurant. It should be a very useful asset to Yelverton but I'm afraid it falls well short of being a place that I will return.

Amongst the numerous plastic laminated signs around the walls of this cafe are two that say, "Service at the table" and "we would appreciate feedback on Trip Advisor", so here goes.

Visited with my family for lunch. The cafe was busy, but like on my one previous visit the service was terrible. We were sat down waiting to be served for approximately 10 minutes. Not that bad if it wasn't for the staff just walking about ignoring us. The cafe doesn't have a friendly feel and I would say it's not family friendly at all.

Went here due to the reviews. Seemed a bit disorganised that be honest. Went to the bar to order then found out you have to be seated and they will come to you. Had to wait to order. Then we had a tea delivered and another wait for a latte. A while later the cake slices came. Ok it was Sunday morning but they had three people working but the place was not excessively busy. Would I go back. If pushed but not a must visit again. Sorry. Wanted it to be good but couldn't rate better than three i.e. Ok but not special

If I am cycling from Plympton along the old railway line on my way put onto the Moors, this little cafe situated in the village of Yelverton, is a fine choice for a stop to break up the ride.It is quite popular with cyclists as well as locals and just people in need of a coffee/tea and a sit down. The coffee served (as I found out from one of the owners) is a Portuguese variety and is tasty and smooth, it doesn't have that slightly bitter aftertaste offered by some of the high street chains. I quite often have the sausage bap, which is always tasty and fills a gap. I have also tried the cake, of which they usually have a selection of over half a dozen, ehich give yhe appearance of being home made. What is also nice, is that you find your table and they will take your order. So if you are tired after or even before a ride (!), there is no need to queue to get service!All in all, a very pleasant, friendly place that offers reasonably priced food and drink in a nice environment with convenient, free parking outside.

Service and food is good, though there are places not so far away offering more for your money! Come here when driving through Yelverton, I would come here if it were out of the way as the coffee is pretty standard and sometimes can be quit bitter! The food is always nice, well cooked and there is always plenty of it!!

When eating breakfast here we invariably choose the biggest breakfast on the menu and then find that we cannot finish it, yes it is that good. We have also used it as a nice sit down coffee shop with a good selection of cakes and pastries. Never have tried the lunch menu but I am sure that just by looking at the menu most will be well satisfied by the choices.

Fairly reasonable food at a reasonable price but the staff were quite rude, I actually felt quite unwelcome, such a shame as many of the reviews commend the staff, I attended with two young but very well behaved children and I can only assume they do not welcome children perhaps?

I visit this restaurant regularly. The food is always excellent, though when it is busy there might be a delay in being served, as everything is cooked to order. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much bother and you are always served with a smile. The best thing is that they always know what I want, I rarely have to actually order!

Half way between Plymouth and Tavistock this little café is a delight to be in.The service is excellent and to prices are more than reasonable.I was impressed by the c!eanliness of everything , even the plastic covered menus were cleaned after every table has been vacated.The cakes are a treat to see but the Portuguese " xx de data" is great. In English it is a egg custard tart warmed and sprinkled with cinnamon if liked Do stop off on the way to Tavistock because you will enjoy it.

We have been visiting here for a couple years now. The staff are wonderful! , always helpful and cheerful. The food is always excellent and cooked fresh to order. I often bring my Mum here, she is elderly, access is flat and easy for her. Another bonus is that they welcome dogs, my dog loves coming here too and we cannot drive past without popping in. You are welcomed whether you just want a coffee/tea or one of their wonderful main meals.

My Mum and I popped in for lunch on our way to Tavistock, we had an All Day Breakfast and a Jacket Potato with lovely side salad. Very nice meals, beautifully served, cannot find fault.Very friendly staff quickly served us with a nice pot of tea and flat white coffee. We've been here quite a few times, always been happy. Sometimes we have a meal, sometimes we share different cakes. Can highly recommend the fruit cake, it's 10/10.

We had lunch at Vieiras on a misty Wednesday in March when the cafe was reasonably busy. There's a varied menu with Portuguese specialities and a wide range of paninis, baked potatoes and larger hot meals including fish and chips as well as all day breakfasts, omlettes and burgers. We were impressed with the service and although all meals are prepared freshly to order our choices arrived quickly. My husband had chosen the Portuguese speciality sausage with cheese which was served with chips and a side salad. It was a light meal but very tasty and excellent value for money. I had a substantial panini which was stuffed full of brie and cranberry - again served with a side salad. Of particular note was the very pleasant balsamic dressing on the side salad. So many places these days don't bother to dress a side salad and so we really appreciated the attention to detail. There were plenty of cakes on display to tempt us if we'd had room for pudding. The only slightly surprising thing was the additional charge of 20p for using an debit card. Having run a business for many years I realise that transaction charges have to be covered but why not just add 5p to each menu item - people wouldn't worry about that kind of increase and it's far less awkward than being told there's an extra 20p to pay when you go to the till. We look forward to returning again soon and will bring cash next time!
