Having eaten out a few times at the village Hotel and never had any issues until now. Found the the team to be stretched with only one server going the the bar initially and being told to take a seat and Simone would be over to take drinks 15 min later had to go back to the bar unfortunately the server asked to take the order as I was waiting in the cue and waited another 15 min to get our drinks and an hour fifteen for our food. Had to come the the bar again and ask about the food delays and finally received cremated chicken wings totally inedible without needing some form or rehydration to the chicken. Unfortunately the super food had bits missing off the plate and blackened salmon totally overcooked. Fish fingers for our Daughter tasted nice however the mash was not nice in taste and texture. Received a refund for the 2 poor dishes and went home for food.

budget style hotel for sure. having stayed once previously in a village hotel i was looking forward to our overnight stay, however i will not be returning to the brand in a hurry if the hotels are this hot and miss. The hotel: is a cheap refurbished 80's hotel, not a modern building like other village hotels. its amazing how brightly covered cladding can cover a lot of bad points. walls are very thin, heating is old and not up to the job in winter. room size is considerably smaller than other Village hotels. The staff: all hotel and bar staff spoke in a friendly manner and were happy to offer assistance and provide service The food: The daily offer is a good idea. we visited on the 20 wing bucket day. however the deal is slightly misleading as the wings have been jointed, so there was 20 pieces of wings but advertised was 20 wings, which if jointed is actually 40 pieces, this would of been good value, however 20 pieces for £10 (50p each) is not a good value offer. the Main course was inedible, a dry colourless burger with a lonely soggy piece of limp lettuce. chips that had been in a fryer that tasted like it hadn't been cleaned after a lot of usage or several days. after a few bites the meal was left to one side of our 4 person table. it was left uncleared, unchecked for the rest of our visit.

I am a bloke writing this........ This is a Sports Bar. 2 100 inch TV screens with permanent Sport feed. It is a hotel bar at the end of the day. it doesn't add character in a good way. 2 double gins cost me £21+. Ouch! Seating is bascally cafe tables - so very uninviting. My wife hated it! Staff were OK (didn't need to know one of the staff wasn't pregnant! - as they chatted across the bar whilst serving) And don't bother with the restaurant - lacks atmosphere and food very average.

The food was very over priced and extremely disappointing. We chose the chicken tikka,.....red sauce with a bit of curry added. Very little over cooked chicken and cold rice. The vegetable curry was mushy and tasteless. The room was noisy with televisions at each corner. The staff were delightfully pleasant, embarrassing for them to have to serve such rubbish. i told them how we felt about the meal, I hope the cooking staff have been replaced!!

Big tv's and a good choice of bar food.Had the stack burger but would have liked it on a plate rather than on a platter.

Food was served quickly, and was good basic food, burger and chips etc. Portion sizes were slightly on the small side, but tasty.

After a long drive to the hotel we decided to eat here. We both went for the classic burger and chicken wings. The burger was good but the wings were some of the best I have tasted! The restaurant is large with lots of big screens for sports. While we were there they were showing Wimbledon. Great for families too. They have a kids menu & ice cream station!

I was staying in the hotel and decided to eat in this 'restaurant'. I wanted to order food in the bar while watching football. Apparently not, or at least if I did 'it could take hours'. Hmm.... Went through to the restaurant, was ignored twice. Then shown to a table away from everything apart from the staff doorway to collect food. Plenty of other tables as the place was quite quiet (perhaps that should have set off alarm bells). Ordered prawn cocktail as a starter, very small portion for £6. I then had the burger. This was the highlight of the evening. Very tasty and a good portion. I was given it then the waitress walked away without uttering a word (ketchup, mayo being offered perhaps!). Overall I wouldn't go near the place again, shame as the burger was good.

Came to watch the rugby and they had most sections of the pub roped off, which I get. You need to do. But throughout the game, the area was not used... ordered 2 burgers, one of which was cold so sent back. When it came back the bun was still cold and chicken not that appealing but was too hungry at this point so ate it. Then ordered the lemon cheesecake mug which was disappointing, not worth a fiver as was small and not the tastiest thing ever. Quite dissapointed overall. Would have let it slide if it was a spoons. But its not.

Nice friendly atmosphere. Guy on bar help full. To be.honest not much choice on bar menu, but both decided for the house burger, which came topped with fried onions and mushrooms, bacon and melted cheese and salad and 3 big onion rings on top of the bun, side of chips. Got to be honest for me and the wife 9/1 , best burger iv tasted by far, full of taste as if it was actually home made and not factory made as you would expect. ...

We were just a little peckish and dinner seemed hours away, so we ordered a chicken wrap to share. It was enough to satisfy our appetites and came with a lovely salad. Well recommended.

Called in early Friday evening , chilled atmosphere sat on the large sofas. Had the double burger which was really nice. The tables were not cleared very well with lots of used glasses lying around and it gave a bit of an untidy look, one or two punters seemed the worst for wear with drink with some bad language which is never great especially when kids are around. Enjoyed overall though and ok for a couple of hours.

Been here for a couple of mid week lunches now. The place is lovely, with tables to choose from inside the rustic interior, in the light conservatory overlooking the gardens, or outside. The food is beautiful and served piping hot, and the staff are happy to oblige with any slight 'tweaks' to the menu. Just two complaints, the 'Chicken skewer' on our last visit consisted of just 4 small pieces of chicken & 4 small slices of pepper, & the 'mango & chilli salsa' was missing from the plates. You could probably find a similar sized skewer on a decent buffet as 'grazing food.' On both occasions it has taken 45 minutes minimum to receive food from ordering time, too long for a quick lunchtime break during the working week!

We ate the the Village Hotel's Victory Bar with my in-law family and our 3 children. When we ordered the food, we were not advised that it would take so long to come out, especially with the pub being very quiet. The three children aged between 1 and 2, all has the fish fingers kids meals. The adults ordered salad, soup, burgers and chicken. After asking how long the food would be, as the kids were getting hungry, we were never given an answer. After about 40 minutes from ordering, the food arrived, in bits. The children's meals, as I found out by pinching a chip off my son, we're salted, quite a lot. When I asked why, the waitress looked blankly at me and said the chef always did that. She asked if I wanted them changing, but I declined as we didn't want to wait another 40 minutes to feed the kids. I had chicken caesar salad, which was edible, my sister-in-law asked for a burger with no guacamole, it came smothered in it. The worst part was the half chicken my husband ordered was still raw in the middle. Which was amazing as it came out 10 minutes after the food initially started to come out. So after 50 minutes, it should have been fully cooked. The staff were all staring at us while we were eating and it looked as if they were playing Russian Roulette with who was going to come over next. After the plates were cleared, we were told they had used a probe on the chicken and it read 79° and the manager would come over and talk to us. After a further 10 minutes, there was no manager. Finally when my father-in-law was paying she eventually turned up and said it wasn't the first complaint about the chicken being raw. They did give us a 50% discount.Needless to say, I will not be going back there, ever again.

Attended the village previously on a regular basis. Decided to pay another visit after a few months break. We ordered chilli chips and Nachos with chilli.Served in a basket with a grease proof paper, not impressed , nachos burnt, chips burnt. Chilli was more like bland mince meat. reaching towards the end of the basket the [paper soggy, developed holes for the mince to fall through on to the table. Even the paper was burnt. So much for presentation! Very disappointed and will not be eating there again,ll

Father Christmas experience... When you book it says no prams. However I'd advise you do bring your pram instead of struggling like me. Didn't even get to see father Christmas as he was so distressed, but had we ignored the rules like everyone else in the group and just brought our pram in we would've been fine! Terrible customer service nowhere near as good as last year, definitely won't be returning next year
