My son and I called in here for lunch before a Sunderland game, we had had little luck at several places prior this trying to find somewhere that offered gluten free options which he requires so to find they do gluten free pizzas was a great result. The portion size was huge with fries, it would easily have been big enough for two, my son commented it "was amazing". The place was clean and appeared to have plenty of staff on, I didn't get his name but the barman was helpful, checked with the kitchen about availability and as milk (which is what my son usually drinks) isn't on the till gave him it for free. Some of the places we passed pre match didn't look particularly child friendly and this didn't overly from the outside but it turned out to be excellent, football was on the various screens around the place and there was a good atmosphere. I had the crispy chicken wrap which was good, the slaw was excellent. We will be back for a pre match lunch soon.

My wife and two other ladies had lunch at Victors, Wednesday 1st June. The meal took an hour and ten minutes to be served. The Whitby Scampi was almost raw; the potato wedges were soggy and cold. Much of the Chicken Fajita was undercooked The "Crispy side salads" were just some limp lettuce, and not appetising The Cottage pie was excellent, but had to be shared as they could not wait for fresh meals. The only saving grace of this meal was that after waiting in a long queue( as many of the other customers were also receiving refunds) they were refunded the cost of two of the meals, And a special mention has to go to Lewis, who seemed to be on his own, dealing with ordering, serving and getting everyones drinks. He was most helpful, and cheerful.

Went with my daughter for lunch and a few drinks. Very disappointed with the food as it wasn’t cooked properly had to send it back and the cocktails were terrible. The seating area was not very clean and the floors dirty. We have been on several occasions but always had a good experience so not sure why it was so bad.

Called in for a couple of drinks, I wanted a quick bite & ordered the chicken wrap from the lite bites menu (only available until 6), ordered at 5.55 & it was almost 6.30 when it finally arrived which I was surprised at as the bar wasn’t that busy & it was only breaded chicken. Whilst waiting there was one member of staff who was called back to the bar to serve at least once as she spent quite a long time chatting to customers (sounded like friends). When the food eventually arrived it was lovely although some of the chips were barely luke warm, the size & quality of what I got was really good value for money, pleased hubby didn’t order anything as I wouldn’t have managed it on my own!

We went to Victors for lunch before a show. The place was empty apart from two other tables with people having a drink. We thought great as other places in Sunderland were chock a block. We ordered at the bar, 2x salt and pepper chicken, and a cheese burger. The waitress didn't ask who was having what and chucked our plates on the table, then chucked the napkins she used to hold our plates on our table too. We looked at our meals in disbelief, a sauce of some kind was slopped all over our fries, not a single bit of salt and pepper in sight. The chicken was very dry and fries that were not covered in slop were VERY overcooked. The two salt and pepper chicken meals were different sizes too, one had lots more pieces of chicken and fries than the other. The cheeseburger was ok not the best but edible, fries were again VERY over cooked and difficult to put on a fork as they were rock solid. No one came to ask if our meal was ok. Asking at the bar what on earth was on our fries as it did not mention a sauce on the menu just salt and pepper, the bar man had delight in telling us it was a Chinese five spice sauce, if we wanted Chinese style chips we wouldn't of ordered salt and pepper chicken???? After sitting back down at our table to finish our drinks to wash away what bits of our meal we did eat we could see through the hatch the barman discussing my complaint with the washing up man. They were laughing and finding it amusing!!! VERY unprofessional staff, over cooked food and NOT as advertised on the menu. Considering this place was empty, surely the chef could manage cooking some fries without over cooking them and as the waitress was not rushed off her feet managed a bit of courtesy? YES it was reasonably cheap but not cheap enough to not eat our meal!! Would NOT recommend Victors to anyone. We definitely will NOT return, not even for a drink!

Called in around 6pm on a Wednesday during the Eat Out scheme. We’d previously downloaded the app to enable Covid safe food and drink ordering but when we sat down at our table we couldn’t use the app to get the discount which was a shame. I ordered at the bar and was told there was about a 40 wait for food as it was very busy I wasn’t surprised at this. However the food took almost an hour to arrive, I had to chase up our order. The food was lovely though my dish was missing the side salad and peppers, when one of the staff dashed by and asked if everything was ok I didn’t mention the missing salad as my mouth was full. It didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the food. My hubby really enjoyed his meal. The wine we had was reasonably priced and very drinkable. The website said that temperatures were being taken on entry but that didn’t happen. There is only one entrance and we noticed a few times people were queuing to get in as people were trying to leave. There is a one way arrow on the floor system internally but this was a bit confusing and no one was following the correct routes. Toilets were good, all doors wedged open to limit contact and very clean. To be fair though the pub was very busy with lots of family groups as well as couples, staff were friendly and never stopped

Been here a few times for drinks and also for the pizza deal. Good selection of drinks. We visited near the end of a football match on TV so it was quite busy for a Sunday evening. Then a DJ came on but the music was too loud as lots of people had left. We left as we were meeting friends elsewhere but I doubt we would have stayed for a second drink anyway.

Thought we'd try Victors for lunch. Burger was like rubber and jacket with tuna was just so disgusting. I've never tasted anything so horrible. Tuna was just slop and tasted awful. Coleslaw was just large lumps of onion in mayonnaise. I feel so sick and I only ate quarter of the potato. Don't eat here if you want something decent. Only gave it one star as it wouldn't accept zero.

Just around the corner from the Premier Inn, we had a lovely evening here. I was determined to try a Parmo but didn’t manage it at the match in Middlesbrough but joy of joys they had one in their menu with chips, salad and coleslaw. Husband had the green Thai curry. Briony was our waitress and working the bar too and was lovely and friendly. They also had a quiz on that night arranged by s company called Aaron Lodge Entertainments. A lovely girl organising it. We couldn’t not join in but unfortunately despite a great start we were defeated by the picture round - too many rappers we’d never seen or heard of!!!! (Showing our age!!). We came 3rd out of four teams - but in our defence one of the teams had about 6 people on it!!! A really friendly crowd in here plus they had the Manchester derby on the telly (sound off thankfully). A fantastic place and the Parmo despite being s massive portion was simply divine and I finished it all.

We've called in this bar every Friday for years but since it's become Victors the excellent bar staff who worked for Wetherspoons seem to have been let go.We've called in on quite a few occasions now, waited at the bar for ages then left without a drink. We've seen loads of other potential customers do the same.We called in on Saturday and it was exactly the same scenario where lots of people stood at the bar a while and then left because they got tired of waiting. We decided to stay purely because there was an excellent band playing called Twister. I've seen them quite a lot of times and they have star quality. They had the audience in the palm of their hands and we stayed for a few drinks to watch them .We all had to wait ages at the bar and the Staff are literally run off their feet. If this bar want people to stay on a weekend they're really going to have to Staff it better.

I went here with my friends and our sons. We got their deal which was 3 courses for £5.95! The portions were huge for such a price and so I was fed with a pint for less than £9. Homemade pizzas and chips were really nice, lots of chicken wings for a starter and a huge slice of cheesecake too. The kids portions were huge too for £2.95. We all definitely recommend trying this out it’s definitely worth it.

Called in before our show, was quite surprised at the extent of the refurbishment the pub has undergone, last time here it was still the Lambton Worm , that aside, it wasn’t busy, plenty of seating available both inside & out & drinks prices on a par with spoons, not a bad first visit except for the ladies which had a rather pungent smell!

I and my friends have long used this as our default Sunderland meeting place for beers and food, from when it opened as a Wetherspoons. Wetherspoons then bafflingly sold it on, and it went through an awkward transition period while the new owners tried their best to work with what Wetherspoons had left, and a very limited menu which they’d put together seemingly to appease the Wetherspoons diehards who, including myself, liked a steak and a beer for not a fortune.

2nd time visiting Victor's to have food and watch a big football match..(we lost again). The food here is absolutely 2nd to none. Black pudding and poached egg for starters, runny yolk for all 5 orders, and steak the size of a good joint of beef with chips and all the trimmings for main meal. The table service was once again impeccable, thanks Maya you did a great job and you were great with our friends 9 yr old, getting down to her level to talk to her which I thought was very thoughtful. We were so stuffed after having the 2 courses we asked to take our dessert home which was no problem. At £14.95 for 3 courses at this size is well worth the visit. X pity we lost the footy but the visit to the pub was great. THANKS

We came to victors as we were visiting the theatre and thought it was still a wetherspoons but it wasn't we thought we'd give it a try anyway there was no mash, panacklty or lasagne available so my mam took the chicken masala which was a microwave meal I opted the the parmesan not a parmo at all a burnt piece of crispy chicken with sticky cheese melted in it my daughter had a chicken wrap with fries some of which the potato was green inside. The staff were lovely and run off there feet nothing was a problem for them we got 20% off when showing the theatre tickets which is a good idea. To say the food was mediocre the chef didn't seem to have control of the kitchen with a fire and a whole heap of smoke to follow I don't think we'd visit again

Our friend booked a table for 7 of us for mother's day and football match, our daughter decided she would also come, therefore the table number changed last minute for them. This was no problem even tho it was very very busy. The girls that served us ALL DAY, were amazing and nothing was an inconvenience to them. Jade was one of them who was so accommodating with such lovely manners and a lovely smile dispite it been so hectic and loud. Unfortunately I didn't get the other girls name but she was, again so helpful.. The food was really nice, we only got mains but it was enough, and since it was match day there was still plenty choice. Thank you to all the staff, we lost the match but the atmosphere was amazing.

We booked for a party of 8 for a pre-theatre meal on Saturday 16 March. We were very quickly directed to our table and drinks orders taken. Kelly our server was very attentive and had soon taken our food orders which ranged from a panini, burgers, pizzas to mince and dumplings. After 40 minutes we asked where out food was and Kelly went to check. Can I just say that this review is no way against our server. She was extremely efficient, polite and smiley. We received our food after 50 minutes, minus the panini so Kelly went back to ask again. When it arrived it was the incorrect order. Kelly quickly said that our food would be refunded and that we would only have to pay for drinks. What could have been a fantastic meal was spoiled solely by the chef. Under cooked veg and bacon (which should not have even been on the panini) that could have been brought back to life. Thank you Kelly for your hard work. When we return it will be because of you.

Visited victors bar Saturday 16 March. Met here for a pre theatre meal. It was very busy being a match day. We arrived 1.00pm. Orders were taken quickly but had to wait 50 minutes for food. All arrived together apart from a panini which when arrived was wrong order and undercooked bacon. Veg on mince and dumplings still raw. All of the rest of the food was lovely. The poor waitress, Kelly was working the bar, taking orders, cleaning tables and serving food. Very unfair on her she was rushed off her feet. She dealt with our complaints very well. This girl needs more staff to help her and a decent pay rise!

Unfortunately the bar service here has deteriorated massively. It must be costing the company a fortune. Had my friends not already ordered I would have left. Behind the bar were a number of staff but only 2 were serving customers at the bar. The remaining staff were all working at the bottom of the bar dealing with app orders. It's a very long bar and with only 2 staff working it they did not know who was next. People would walk up to the bar long after you'd stood there , and be served. I would have used the app myself but couldn't get a signal in the bar. Unfortunately the 2 staff serving were also extremely slow, despite there not being much of a queue. We waited ages to get served when there wasn't many people waiting, so on a busy night I wouldn't even bother. If you don't have the app or it's not working properly I'd give this bar a miss. It looked like a lot of other people felt the same as this once busy bar was noticeably quiet for a weekend night. Whoever is in charge of the bar needs to sort out proper training for the staff. I've never experienced service as bad as this in any other wetherspoons I've been in. If at all possible, use the app or you'll lose the will, watching other customers stroll to the bar while you wait, wait then wait some more
