Patatas fritas estaban bien.

Imagine us in the pouring rain, freezing cold, umbrella being blown inside out! Then we find a slice of heaven, just over the bridge fr Canary Wharf (you can keep it) to West India Quay, where we found this pub! We had an excellent lunch of lamb pie and banoffe pie (yum), and the manager even let us have a tour of the upstairs! It is an original Dockland building, but it was turned into a pub in the early 1900's and it is just gorgeous, with parts from old churches! The wooden carvings are amazing! This is a must see!

I attended a 40th birthday party at Via on 13/12/2014. There were about 40 people in our party with an age range between 30-70 years. The downstairs bar was not heated and guests were absolutely freezing, most having to sit with their coats and jackets on.Although we were a mixture of gay/lesbian and hetero couples all known to each other, security staff constantly walked around the bar as if expecting trouble, and more than once stood arrogantly staring around the bar. More than one person overheard Homophobic comments from the security staff. One gay member of our party, who was also paying for it,went outside for a smoke and was refused re-entry on the grounds he had too much to drink. He was also told by security that "it was always his lot that caused trouble" At this we all left en-masse, disgusted at the atmosphere and intimidatory attitude of security staff and reluctance of management to effect any kind of leadership or control of staff. This venue is HOMOPHOBIC and should be avoided at all costs

On the lead up to the event the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, showing us all of the possible areas and providing us with a number of pricing options for our evening. We instantly felt like they couldn't do enough to make sure everything was arranged for us. On the night the atmosphere was relaxed, comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly. Service and buffet food were all fantastic and the following day we had a lot of our team asking us to pass on their thanks to the bar, and saying that they will definitely be going back.I can't thank Emanuela enought for her hospitality and wonderful organisation. We look forward to many more evenings in one of our favourite Canary Wharf bars.Thank you to the whole team from all of us!

On Saturday 13th Dec we went to Via for a surprise 40th birthday party for our son, it was strange that the door men were mingling around the guests and standing on the staircase lording over us. The everning was brought to a abrupt end when the door man refused to let my sons partner back in after he went out for a cigarette, even when he explained that he had to pay the bill, the two girls that were with him were allowed back in. Inside my son was asked for a card to pay the bill, as they must have aware that his partner had been refused entry, A party to remember, at this stage all the guests left together in disgust and went to a more welcoming bar.

I've visited Via on quite a few Friday nights after work & have always enjoyed it. It has a much more chilled vibe than other bars in Canary Wharf. The staff are always courteous & the service is fast. I recently decided to hire out part of the ground floor for a staff function. Emanuela made the booking process very easy and was always on hand to answer my many questions. The evening itself ran very smoothly. The area was decorated beautifully with a Chrismas tree, candles and Christmas crackers. The food was delicious & once again the service was excellent. The function included staff from my office between the ages of 18 and 64 - I believe all were pleased with how the night went. The feedback I've received has been excellend and I will have no hesitation in recommending Via as a venue for future staff events.

I wasn't going to bother with this review until they emailed me asking for my comments. I booked Via for my Engagement party. Part of the sell was that they would include a DJ in the price for a total spend of £1000. However midway through the party they took me aside and demanded £200 for the DJ. When I told them and even showed them the emails agreeing £1000 total including DJ they still didn't accept it and it all got nasty. They threatened to turf us out. I threatened to sue. They reluctantly said we could stay but then stuck a bouncer or two in the room with us for the night. Ruined completely the atmosphere and the evening. And the DJs weren't even that good!Only redeeming features were the bar tender who was very friendly and the fact we all had drink like crazy to get to £1000!

Easily accessed via (!) DLR - Docklands Light Railway, "VIA" and the iconic Canary Wharf and East India Docks has a genuine 'feel good' factor associated to it. We chose "VIA" - shamefully, to enjoy the "happy hour" cocktails and were fortunate enough to be able to bask in warm sunshine, surrounded by the opulence of the new, and history of old. Service, despite how very busy the waitresses and waiters were was efficient and friendly. Above the hubbub of so many 'suits', networking, celebrating and saying farewell to colleagues at office leaving do's was the gentle sound of acoustic guitar and which really added something to our late afternoon relaxation. "VIA" is flanked by other similar businesses, we'd recommend VIA though!

I visited with friends a couple for a lunch outside in the lovely sun and great location, but don't let the beautiful atmosphere blind you from reality like it did us...In short two out of the three of us had food poisoning the next day, The staff were so rude they should of been fired on the spot! I heard one table asked for the bill and the waitress openly said "Kill me now!" - not only was she wearing the most inappropriately short dress, she couldn't speak English and spent more time wandering aimlessly when all of the tables kept trying to grab her attention she openly ignored them! For some reason one of the chefs came round to a couple of tables to take orders. He was extremely 'cocky' and looked like he hadn't bathed for a week! All of the food arrived cold and around 1hr later, as all of the waitresses wasted time walking around with the food with no idea who had ordered it!In short, it will not long before this restaurant is closed down for not passing any hygiene regulations!PS. all food had clearly just been microwaved!

That is where the good ended.Showed up for our designated area at agreed time with 10 of my thirsty colleagues with more to follow later. Told our area was upstairs and then told it was downstairs and then told outside so we lost 20mins locating area. Then waited good 15 mins for the pre-ordered drinks to arrive (was all supposed to be ready). Wine and beer bottles delivered in huge plastic inelegant buckets and to top it all the bar had run out of ice. They did eventually source but about 20 mins later.I found the lady I had been in touch with and told her what I had gotten for my 300 pound spend was a shambles, and we were given 5 bottles of free beer to try and make it up to us. When the food finally did arrive, they had forgotten the cutlery - which took another 5 minutes. My Sunday roast was abominable. We also had a plate of ravioli pasta was surprisingly tasty - especially if you're hungry!!! If you want proper food though, Canary Wharf has more to offer than Via.

Visited 'VIA' on the evening of 26th May 2012... a lovely summer's evening and perfect for a spot of al fresco dining on the quayside @ West India Quay. There is a large selection of bars and restaurants occupying the old warehouses along West India Quay and it's a lovely area when the weather's nice. Not having dined at any of these establishments before, we chose VIA more-or-less at random... it looked nice enough and was reassuringly busy (although they all were, to be honest). Initial impressions were decent as we were attended to within a couple of minutes by a very pleasant Spanish girl who was to be our server for the evening. Although we fully intended to have a meal, we ordered drinks first while we perused the menu. I asked what beers were available on tap and ordered a Becks... no problem, so far, but then the fun and games started! My girlfriend asked for half a Shandy, only to be told 'Sorry, we don't have'. Err, excuse me? I interjected and politely asked if they had lemonade, to which the answer was 'yes'. I then proceeded to explain what a Shandy was! After some initial confusion on the server's behalf, I thought she had understood. About 5 minutes later, she arrived with my pint of Becks and a PINT of Shandy. I immediately stopped the server before she left the table and reminded her that we asked for HALF a Shandy, to which she questioned 'You don't want?', gesturing to the pint glass she had brought over. Again, I re-iterated the original order and she left to sort it out. We waited (and waited)... by the time she came back with the half a Shandy we originally asked for, I had finished 2/3 of my pint (drinking slowly). At this point, I was pretty irritated, to be honest, that such a simple drinks order could be fouled-up and that the server had no idea what a Shandy was! What hope for the rest of the evening if we had stayed there to eat? I immediately came to the conclusion we wouldn't be eating there and asked for the bill. I wanted to settle by card and was told I would have to follow the server inside, since the card machine had no signal outdoors (fair enough). On entering the bar area, I was very curtly ordered to remove my cap by the Eastern European doorman (I was wearing casual, but smart, summer attire of shorts, T-shirt and a matching cap due to the hot weather). The door staff's unprofessional attitude and the foul-up over the drinks prompted me to make my feelings know to the manager. A 30-something chap emerged from back of house (thankfully, English was his first language) and I politely but firmly detailed what had happened and pointed-out that he appears to have a training issue that needs to be addressed with both his serving staff and his door staff. He was profusely apologetic and took onboard everything I had to say and understood completely. Unfortunatey for him, we ended-up taking our business to a competitor next door (Browns Bar & Brasserie... see other review, which was much better all-round).Based on our experience, I'd have to recommend giving VIA a miss I'm afraid.

Unfortunately happened upon this bar last week on our works party night out, frankly it killed the evening. They open the doors on one side of the bar when their club opens. Blocking this off with a curtain offers nothing in the way of installation on a cold December night, so what was a relatively pleasant spot becomes very unpleasant, very quickly. As we had just ordered some bar snacks and couldn't move to a different place it was quite annoying. The bar snacks were horrendous when they arrived,...

WE dined at your Via restaurant on sunday 2nd Oct at West India Quay. We sat down at 17.15, we explained to the waitress that we had to leave by 18.30 as we had to leave to go to the cinema. We were told that there were no food orders in front of ours so we should have been dealt with in a speedy manner. We ordered 6 cocktails which took 10 minutes to get to us, we also placed our food order at the same time. After another 15 minutes we ordered 6 more cocktails, We asked why there was a delay and was told that the bartender was new and was learning about the drinks. At 18.20 our food had still not arrived, we questioned the waitress again who said because we had ordered starters that our food may take slightly longer. The starters arrived 5 minutes afterwards. The two people who ordered the fishcakes came but with NO sweet chilli sauce. We also had to get up and grab our own cutlery. Our main courses arrived at 18.35, I ordered the Falafel & Spinach Burger with Tzatziki Dip (v) (there was no Tzatziki dip on this. Between six people we spent £19.08 per person, the service was slow and unacceptable, the food was ok, the waiting staff looked like they didn't want to be there. This was our first visit to a VIA restaurant and we all felt very disappointed by the whole experience. The restaurant was only a quarter full so i do not understand why we had such a long delay in waiting, We should have been told if there was going to be a delay in getting our food out on time as we had limited time. eventually we ate and left at 18.45.

We had a lovely waiter who was friendly, joked with us and made us feel like we were regulars - even though it was out first visit to VIA. The food was fantastic, we were told there would be a 20 minute wait and the food was out before the 20mins was up. it was busy inside and outside, hardly any tables free. After we indulged in a 3 course meal - all cooked perfectly - and worked our way through the cocktail menu, we were told of a late bar with a DJ that was happening downstairs. we went down there zand parited hard until 2am. The security werre fantastic, one of them in particular stuck out to me, Lee. He seemed to be extremly popular with all customers and joked and wasnt at all the stereo typical doorman. The staff even though busy were alls miling and seemed to be really close to each other. We are all visiting VIA on a weekly basis and the serivce never fails. Brillaint place - Shame it is not given the praise it rightly deserves.

There are several restaurants at the West India Dock from which to choose. I chose Via because of the Duck Quesadilla on the menu. I wanted to see how cheddar and hoisin sauce go together. I found it had potential, sadly however, the quesadilla had been over cooked and was on the dry side. A few remaining moist bits were enjoyable, but the one hour wait to receive it marred the experience. There were only two servers for a large outdoor area. Maybe they were exhausted by the earlier afternoon rush, but by the time we sat down at 7 p.m., business was slowing down and so were the servers, they were rarely outside. When we arrived, we asked one if we needed to be seated, but she said we could sit anywhere. Fortunately we found an abandoned menu on the way to our table because no one brought us a menu. After waiting 10 minutes, my husband went to the bar to order but was told one of the waitresses would take our order. After another 10 minutes, I went to find a server and she said she would be right with us. She did come soon after that and took our order. During our time there, I saw people at two other tables that wanted food go into the bar to order and return a bit peeved to have to wait for a server. Other tables that only wanted drinks, got their own from the bar. It took a good forty minutes for our food to arrive. My husband's fish and chips was also overcooked. The fish was curled and missing a good size chunk from the side. I noticed another fish and chips arrive at a neighboring table in the same condition. It was a lovely evening and nice to sit outside, but it was marred by hunger pangs. If you are at the West India Dock, try one of the other restaurants if you want more than drinks.

Why do they have a massive sign outside which reads "Restaurant now open" if it's always closed (even on a Saturday evening)? Yes, I know you can serve food downstairs at the bar but I wantes to go to the restaurant!

We go for a run along the canal to victoria park and the weather has been lovely recently. It is our ritual to stop by the pavilion and get their baguette or pan au chocolat. But on the weekend i tried their brunch place and it was amazing!! I feel so lucky to have pavilion take up the park cafe as they are one of the best bakeries in london. Even their kimchi tastes authentic!

Had high hopes for this place. Oddly they only sell their own fruit fizzy drinks so no Coca Cola, sprite, etc that was a huge put off not having your fav cold proper fizzy drink to wash it all down!! Reminds me of Five guys poor cousin. They say free topping but they are not passable. Could hardly identify the grilled mushroom, and fried onion it was a complete caramelised mush under the bun. Plus they are passing off fresh cucumber as advertised on their menu board as pickle when it hasn’t been pickled. When someone says pickle as a topping on a burger I will assume it’s a gherkin so seeing sliced fresh cucumber under my bun was poor effort and they have no jalapeños but advertised it as a free topping. Overall package is disappointing good effort with the beef patty and bun but for £8 for a single burger with poor offering of toppings and bland warm chips that are sat around to get cold while one person is serving and flipping burgers and a weird selection of non identifiable drinks £11 is not good value. Won’t be going back

Very convenient location next door to Bethnal Green tube station, good selection of lager but as a real ale drinker somewhat disappointing as no ales on handpumps and ws limited to a small choice bottled ales. Good venue with very friendly staff but rather noisy music to talk over and later was showing a Spanish football game on Sky sports so got a bit busier and noiser.

What a great place, sat in the sun by the water on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Life doesn’t get better. James and the team are friendly and on their game. They have 1/2 dozen different pies including one with rabbit and another brisket, I went for a beef marrowbone affair, huge and delicious. Guinness was as good as it gets. Defo put this on the list if you’re on the Canary Wharf area.
