Worst Sunday dinner ever. 45 minute wait in an near empty restaurant. Serving lady… apologised for her Miscommunication. Easily forgiven but then the food arrived. See pictures. 2 tiny halves of roast potatoes. You think it’s a Generous beef portion until you see its half fat & gristle. Green beans not cooked and not trimmed. Carrot shavings burnt. Mush… had to ask what it was. Overcooked cauliflower cheese. Yorkshire pudding cardboard. We joined the gym and a free Sunday lunch was an inducement. Didn’t realise it was a more a punishment. Head chef should be disgusted with this offering. Not the poor girl left to serve it. We have another free Sunday lunch but we will not be going. No food is better than this. I ate around the fat & gristle. 2 tiny halves of potatoes. Half cardboard Yorkshire. This was I left in the pictures. Judge for yourself. My poor husband tried to eat more. He was starving. Wouldn’t of eaten at all but my diabetes had gone haywire waiting so long to eat. Ps. This normally costs £16.50 each. I won’t go again even if it’s free.

Hello, we've just had Sunday lunch with out family at Village Hull (booking for WAITE at 16.00). It was awful. The soup was barley warm, bead cakes really hard (couldn't cut them never mind bite into them), Feta tomatoes soggy. Hardly any Turkey left (SCRAPS). Gammon was really difficult to cut. Pigs in blankets - greasy. Vegetables - Chantey carrots over cooked and soggy with burnt ends, sprouts soggy, Cabbage was more like soggy shredded sea weed and roast potatoes (were more like new potatoes just fried up quickly in a shallow frying pan. Dessert was what was left over from breakfast (which is why they probably called it brunch - at 4 O clock PM????) Pain Au Chocolat, Croissant, some king of mouse, which they called a smoothie, and a breakfast muffin (with seeds on them). NOT GOOD ENOUGH especially when your paying £100 plus for a family. Nothing at all for kids - they tried things but didn't like any of it, even the muffins. ........mint sauce was OK. Wont be returning or recommending

My Wife and I Stayed at the Village Hotel on New Years Evening, this was the first time we had ventured out for new year in 20 years. We had opted to eat in the Verve Restaraunt, from the 3 course Menu which sounded great. (what a mistake it was). We ordered an onion and goats cheese tartin for starters, this was dry and tasteless and had ingredients such as hazelnuts and an orange drizzle were missing. The pastry was so dry it was like eating crisps with a Knife and Fork. The main course was Sea trout on a Lime and Corriander Rissoto with a Shellfish Chowder, sounds good doesnt it! how wrong we were! The fish was a bit over done, that was the best of the meal. the rissoto was mushroom anf there was a pile of chopped up raw carrots and garden peas on the plate (see the attached picture) the chowder was a cream sauce which had no contact with shellfish. This was returned, we opted to have a plate of chips instead (see picture). to finish with I had a cheeseboard, this was big enough to feed 4, unfortunately someone found it a good idea to add rasberries and sliced orange the fruit was green with mould. My wife had a triffle, which she could have drank, both were returned. I complained to the event manager and voiced our complaint, she apologised for the poor standard of service and food. I would say that there was no diner that was satisfied! She informed me that I would receive a full refund for our stay and the event and 2 nights in a club room free of charge. We spent some time in the bar to let in the new year and then went to bed for a poor nights sleep which has been reviewed in the hotel review. In the morning we went to breakfast, which I was looking forward to as we were unable to eat the meal provided the night before (very poor quality). when I tried the food every item on the plate was cold, I did complain and was offered an omelette. I ended up having 2 slices of toast, as all I wanted to do was go home to have some sleep. The Housekeeping Manager approached me to discuss my complaints, she informed me I would receive a full refund for our stay and the event and 2 nights in a clubroom free of charge. This offer was then renaged on and we received our hotel and event costs back. To be honest this was the poorest meal I have ever had the misfortune to be served up anywhere.

Have not been for a few years. Used to be superb. 5 courses. Looked nice. Tasted good. Went again. Now down to 3 courses. Starters and deserts come in horrible plastic pots. Carvery average. Get a bit dried up. Old and tired. Tried all 3 cold deserts. None of them very tasty. The trifle was quite watery almost like they used frozen fruit which had then defrosted. Best of all. 8.75 for a glass of wine and nearly 6 quid for a beer. Well cheeky. Won't go back. Left as soon as I could and went to another pub. 9 quid for 2 drinks.

What a fantastic afternoon we've just enjoyed at the Verve Grill in the Village Hotel. We had afternoon tea, which was fabulous and good value too. We have been here a few times over the past 2 years, and this may be the final time, as it has gone downhill since our first visit ... I share the views of other recent reviews on here it seems! If the restaurant accept bookings till 430pm on a Sunday, you would expect that for a 345pm table booking, that there be the full selection of starters and desserts remaining. But no, this time there was only a small collection of starters and desserts, and the staff were taking them all away as soon as 430pm hit! (even though we could have entered the place as late as 430 I do believe) ... No hot desserts, and compared to 2 years previous, no real selection. For the price we paid, very disappointing. As was the main: stuffing balls like rocks, as were the roast potatoes. The veg was watery and bland, including tasteless Cauli-cheese. The nail in the coffin was the extremely over-bearing, over-attentive server who just lingered and got on all of our nerves (clearing up when people hadnt finished, and constantly asking if we needed anything!! ... and when we did request drinks, they didnt arrive until a prompt!!) Don't bother, for the money. Go to a Toby Carvery!!

We decided to eat out for Christmas lunch this year and booked The Village hotel. We won’t be eating out again for Christmas as it was really average I was told there was even less to choose from than on the normal Sunday carvery. We thought for £55 each the food would be served to the table but this wasn’t the case. Staff didn’t seem to know what was on the menu and the service was pretty poor. When we went up to the carvery station we had to ask if they were going to bring more food out. There was only 3 choices of veg I was given 2 small slices of turkey this was then replaced with a turkey roll. There wasn’t any Yorkshire puddings and these are normally on the Sunday carvery too. My sister is a vegetarian and ordered the gnocchi, she definitely didn’t get her money’s worth. The desserts were ok. The wine was expensive over £7 for a glass and they assumed I wanted a large glass. The whole atmosphere just wasn’t Christmassy at all. We won’t be rushing back any time soon

Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. Chose it as a last minute option as had been a couple of times before a few years back and had thought it a good value meal. Unfortunately it has gone downhill since. The pasta station was not there. The starters were very limited. And the beef was too rare for most of the diners. The exception was the server. He tried so hard to make sure we had everything we needed. All that let him down was clearing the table of everything before we had fully finished. It made us feel rushed.

Ate here Friday night we had prepaid for evening meal and breakfast when we booked the room. Service was a tad slow but we were in no rush, good choice of food on the set menu. We had the flat bread for one of the starters and the trio of hummus for the other one, very very nice. The mains we had half pound burger -massive- the Chicken skewer - Terriyaki Salmon. All were hot and very nicely presented and very good portion size. One of the diners had the sticky toffee pudding-again very very nice. Excellent value for money. We ate again here for breakfast the next morning and yet again excellent choice of hot and cold, cereals, yogurts, fruit and juices. Lovely time was had here.

It feels like a hotel restaurant but still manages to be an escape from weddings , the usual bustle of a reasonable sized hotel lobby and a bar with Sky sports and burgers - staffed by a young, efficient enthusiast team. The menu is short but comprehensive as is the wine list and the best value is the set menu at £15 for 2 courses or £20 for 3. The piri piri chicken skewers with charred Mediterranean vegetables and home cut chips was really pleasing and filling - the deconstructed cheesecake was tasty. The portions are large so enter hungry

A la carte or set dinner menu in a hotel restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff although the service was not quick. A varied menu with sensible portions served in a large restaurant - that said the tables in use were all in one corner of the restaurant. The buffet breakfast is comprehensive and highly recommended.

What a complete out dated depressing restaurant. Terrible ambience. Drop and depressing decor. Reminded us of a 1970s Bernie in but worse. The carvery was blinking awful. Over cooked meat so dry it was dehydrated and chewy. Well over cooked. This place needs a revamp in and out if the kitchen with chefs who can actually cook and have the qualifications to show for it. Terrible terrible terrible. Never again in a lifetime of Sunday’s would I come back or recommend this embarrassment to the British culinary delights of a British carvery.

Was looking for a good value Sunday lunch while my parents were visiting and certainly found that at the Village. They open at 1230 and we were first in. Our waitress showed us where all the food stations were and we were off. Nice selection of salad items and soup of the day, followed by a good carvery (beef, gammon & turkey) and then a few desserts. At £13.95 all in it was excellent value - food was good for the money.

Stayed a week at the hotel and naturally had breakfast.Nice staff.Cooked breakfast really good. Good quality ingredients, fried egg available as well as the usual dire scrambled egg which all hotels insist on serving.Bacon and sausage first class as were the mushrooms and hash brown. Beans and tomato I do not care for but assume they were good.Continental was lacking. Usual bread and pastries but fresh fruit and yoghurt was pre measured in pots. I would rather help myself rather than this approach. Can I suggest your management take a look at the continental breakfast in Motel One. They are the benchmark which all hotels should aspire to. Good coffee. Not much more you can say.

Visited the restaurant last night for my sisters birthday! We had booked online a few weeks prior and received and phone call in the afternoon to confirm our booking for the evening at 7pm! On arriving a little bit early for our booking we decided to grab a drink from the bar! We was served by a lovely young guy who was very helpful and attentive! When I ask the question of could we take our drinks through to the restaurant, another bar tender had joined the other member of staff behind the bar! He proceed to rudely ask whether we had booked to go into the restaurant! When I told him yes we have a table booked for 7pm! He then told me that I possibly couldn't have a table booked for then as that's when the restaurant closed! When I told him that I did have a table booked and they rang today to confirm it! He then went off in a huff and told me he was going to check as I couldn't possibly have a booking! A few minutes later he returned and said oh so you do! But I don't know why as that's when we shut! At this point his attitude was disgusting talking to other staff members and I quote 'how dare they book a table for this time when we shut at 7pm' now if you take a look on their website it does state the restaurant re opens at 7 so how was we to know when the website states the incorrect information.I left the bar area and went into the restaurant which still had at least 4 or 5 tables in! Now having previously been I was really looking forward to getting stuck into the food! Once we had eaten our starters we all went up to the carvery! When arriving back at the table non of of starters had been cleared with the restaurant been very quiet to me it wasn't acceptable! Half way through our carvery a waitress came across and ask if we had finished with the starters that they had out as they wanted to clear them away! We didn't want anymore starters so we was more than happy for them to clear it away! After finishing our mains we was pushed to see if we wanted any dessert! We hadn't even let our mains settle! Not once were we offered any fresh drinks despite all our glasses been empty! Working in a restaurant myself the service was appalling! I wouldn't have minded if it had been busy and they hadn't had much chance to get across but there was 3 tables in the restaurant when we was mostly there! Poor service, dry unplenished food will not be returning any time soon!

Having dined previously at the Verve on a Friday Night i decided to take my Family for Sunday Lunch The lunch is a fixed price all you can eat offering a choice of starters, a carvery main as well as a pasta bar and a choice of Desserts that are laid out as self service We were seated and went to select our starters which were plentiful if you liked meat or Fish however the only option for a Vegetarian was a mozzarella and tomato Salad that was 90% tomato We then asked if there was a vegetarian carvery option which was then placed in front of my wife without her being told what it was or if it was OK I did mention my issues when i paid and was told "sorry she is only 16 and new" whilst i accept that people have to start somewhere i think basic understanding that you check with the customer first shouldn't need to be trained. i doubt we will visit again as we were informed that Nut roast is the only vegetarian option (luckily my wife doesn't have a nut allergy as we were not told before it was delivered) if however other vegetarian options were available on the carvery i would recommend a return visitFor meat eaters it is good value as there is plenty to choose from on both starters and Desserts however i would perhaps avoid some of them as they are left on a warm side, but with it being all you can eat you can make it a very cheap meal depending on your appetite

We have visited the restaurant on many many occasions for Sunday carvery but today we have been disappointed. The many choices of starters have been taken away and replaced with small pre made dishes of prawn cocktail, smoked salmon salad, tomato and mozzarella, pieces of game pie and pate (which are ok if you like them). Gone are the huge bowls of prawns, melon and fruit, and the self serve soups (you have to ask for soup now if you can catch the eye of a waitress/er). The fresh made pasta and waffles station remain as does the carvery. The puddings have also changed to small pre made dishes of chocolate moose, lemon cheesecake, fruit salad, also apple pie you have to ask for, which comes with a watery custard or cream. I was really looking forward to some cheese and biscuits as before we were spoilt with choices of Brie and a few others, but like everything else this has also been taken off. I can imagine why the changes have been made, wastage, cost etc etc and there is still a decent amount to choose from but it just doesn't have the same appeal as before. Aside from all the changes, the quality of the food still remains good and we had sufficient to eat. Slightly amused though at the amount of staff walking past our table who never saw any of our plates that needed clearing!!! Disappointingly because of the changes I don't think it stays as our top place to go for Sunday lunch, it was much better before, sorry.

Went here for early evening meal and was seated just behind carvery/breakfast work station, near some glass cases with vases in and a shelf with a glass bowl to the side of us which looked absolutely filthy! (Don't know the last time they were cleaned!) So not a first good impression. However, tables and tableware were all clean thank goodness and our starters arrived of garlic mushrooms on toast and were delicious. My husband then enjoyed his main course of salmon fillet which was cooked beautifully and I ordered the pork chop with an apple & cider jus. The pork chop was very tough and apple and cider jus tasted nothing like! It was very dark in colour and tasted very salty, my husband thought so too (like gravy made from granules) it was yuk! I didn't bother with dessert but my husband got the double choc bread and butter pudding of which he enjoyed. Staff were very polite, service a little slow at times and fixtures and fittings a little shabby, (especially the low lights with shades) with wiring on show. Overall, if I hadn't have used my tastecard it would not have been worth the money.

Late writing review but went to verve on Mother's Day. It was lovely we were given an alcove seat near the carvers. We stayed quite a while but no one bothered us or rushed us. The meal was lovely lots of choices too many really couldn't decide what to have. All looked so good. The starter, main and desert all gorgeous. Will certainly go again.

Myself and my husband have visited the verve grill on an evening before and enjoyed our meals. We visited the Verve on a Sunday, although the food is nice and the price is reasonable, i found 5 courses too many. The layout was all over the place and puddings and pastas are in the entrance by the door, whilst other puddings soups and salad was at the other end in the middle. The carvery was to the other side of the room and that busy the queue was nearly out the door, which meant you had to squeeze past them to get to the toilet or the rest of the food. I could not be bothered to wait in the queue so decided just to eat pasta and soup. There is usually a waffle station but the waffle machine had broken so couldn't have any. Drink service was fairly slow this could be down to not having enough staff to the volume of people. Felt disappointed in our visit. Really think the restaurant should re think their layout as it is totally dis-jointed and look at extending the carvery to improve service. Don't think we will be visiting the verve on a Sunday again as it is too busy and dis-organized.

I was very impressed with Sunday lunch, there's so much choice and although we left some things (eg parsnip soup), that simply gave us the excuse to try something else. The roast dinner offered a choice of beef, turkey and pork and were served though I understand you can go back for more and of course you can eat as much as you like from the buffet.Plenty of choice of deserts, it would have been rude not to try them all! So we came away feeling very, very full. The food is good value at £12.99, but the drinks (1 coke and 2 coffees) pushed the overall bill up by about £8 which seemed a bit excessive.

We went with friends for the first time this weekend, we had the early bird menu 3 courses for £29, all 3 courses where very good. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, describing every meal in detail. It was so good we will be going back soon. Can't find fault, food and service spot on, well done Verve. It's not local for us, means we need a driver but worth the sacrifice!

This is a nice restaurant, as you would expect the staff are very efficient and friendly (a theme that runs through the hotel). We had a short wait as it was a saturday night, but were given the menus and our order was taken. Atomosphere is nice and the food was very good, lots of choice and very well presented.

OK but unexciting food, which doesn't do the hotel any favours! It is a general fact that most hotels don't do 'Good' food. What they do provide is 'standardised' for their whole chain, and has to suit a wide range of tastes, and has to be easily prepared by poorly paid staff. And the 'Verve' is no exceptionOK if you are stuck and cant find anywhere better!

Had a lovely evening meal at the Verve. The steaks were really good and the service was very friendly. Maybe a little pricey but we were staying in the hotel so had some vouchers to use which made the bill very reasonable. One disappointing aspect was that if you leave a tip on your card, the hotel keeps it in an account and then uses it as it sees fit to reward staff, throw parties etc. In my opinion, if the hotel wants to reward staff or give them a party it should be taken from company profits, not customers tips. If I leave a tip, I expect it to go where it was intended… to the service and kitchen staff who contributed to the meal I left the tip for! But only cash left tips go to the restaurant staff. Only other small downside was the very poor quality, icey icecream for dessert. Expected something a little more luxurious for £5.50.

We had decided to have Sunday lunch out today as a treat. We have dined in the verve grill before but never for Sunday lunch. We were greeted promptly by one if the head waiters who happily showed us to our table and explained that lunch was self service. We had the choice of soup/cold meats/prawn cocktail etc for starters pasta/salads as a next course. A hot carvery of meat roast potatoes, stuffing vegetables etc also with a pasta or vegatarian option is also offered. And as if that wasn't enough a choice of lots of puddings and cheese and biscuits!!!! Phew choc-a-bloc!!!! All cooked to perfection! Lovely, will visit again!

We visited here as a party of 5. Mainly because I had won a competition for 2 adults and 2 children for the 5 course Sunday buffet. On arrival, the guy behind the bar was very polite and explained where everything was for the buffet. There was a choice of cold meat and salad, soup and rolls, pasta, fish, vegetarian, full carvery, lots of different desserts and a waffle station, which proved very popular with the children. The cost for an adult was £12.95, which I did think was slightly too expensive. I would recommend here if anyone was celebrating a special occasion.

We visited recently on a Sunday for a family birthday, there where 12 of us and I had booked beforehand. Would strongly recommend you book as the place is popular. On a Sunday it's a fixed price all you care to eat set up and there was plenty to choose from and the quality of the food was good too. Soup, salad bar, carvery, hot pastas, desserts and cheese board. All our party ate their fill and the kids loved the hot waffle station. Service was excellent, friendly guy served us and didn't rush us in and out. Would happily return it was a great place for a family get together.

Visited last Sunday to celebrate a family birthday in a large party of 18. Enjoyed drinks before entering restaurant in adjacent bar which was full (for the football?) and only had two staff so service was very slow. Upon taking our seats the variety of meals was explained to us by a friendly front of house and included - Soup with roll, cold starters, pasta station, carvery, cold sweets and hot puddings, waffle station and finally cheese and biscuits..................... In the end just opted for a cold starter and carvery which was adequate but unremarkable. The venue appeared to be very popular and fully occupied at all times but I fail to understand why. My wife was tempted to try the cheese but it to failed to impress. Good attempt but sometimes less is more? Enjoyed the occasion but wouldn't rush back to eat here

My daughter my husband and I went to the Verve Grill to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. I was disappointed from the start. When I rang to reserve a table I asked to be seated in a booth. We were seated in a booth but it was right next to the kitchens where there was constant traffic back and forth with food, it looked very grubby too and lack atmosphere. I ordered soup which had been heated up in the microwave as it had 'hot spots'. We ordered steak which was a very small piece of steak each albeit cooked well and a side of creamed potatoes which looked like slop. I asked where our vegetables where but informed by the waitress we would have to buy them separately. Apart from a small piece of steak 1 mushroom and 1 sliver of tomato this was the meal complete for a grand price of £22 for the main course. We had no dessert and 2 of us had a coffee, our bill was over £85.00 which I feel was a complete rip off, and will not be recommending it to family or friends - a big disappointment. Waitresses however were very pleasant. Till staff needed an injection of personality!

My friends and I visited the Verve bar and grill for our annual Christmas meal. I have been to this restaurant before and wasn't impressed, but decided to go in with an open mind. The evening consisted of a 3 course meal and disco for £28.95 per head, which, I thought at Christmas wasn't overly expensive. However, the food and the price of drinks really lets the place down.To start, I had Chicken Liver Parfait which was tasty but had obviously been pre-prepared well in advance to cope with the number of people they were expecting that evening. The plate and bread it was served on were nearly ice cold - showing it had been refrigerated to save time. For the main course, I opted for a traditional Christmas dinner which was really quite terrible. The 'turkey' can only be described as a Bernard Matthews Turkey Joint, the ones you can buy in Iceland if you're wanting a quick and easy meal. Again, it was tasty, a little dry but not the succulent 'proper' turkey I was expecting for the price. Served with the meal were a tiny portion of nicely cooked sprouts, carrots and sweet potato. Also served on top of the turkey was a cocktail sausage - I wouldn't have bothered, it tasted cheap and nasty. For dessert, the choice was either Yule Log or Christmas Pudding. I opted for the first which was moist and tasty but again, lacking any specialness that you would expect from a Christmas dinner with friends. The worst part, however was still to come. Drinks were absolutely extortionate. £6.80 for a double gin sling? £6.85 for a large glass of wine? Absolutely disgraceful! The evening was topped off by the fact that our party of 13 wasn't sat together, making the whole night a complete and utter farce.Verve doesn't do anything particularly well, it was a sheer disappointment and I most definitely will not be returning.

Went here for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff, who I presumed was the manager. We were sat down but nothing was explained to us. Because we hasn't been before we wernet sure if drinks were served to the table. One of us went to the bar and then a waitress came to the table. Some explanation of the process would be helpful on being seated. The menu has the pull of 'all you can eat for £12.95' but I felt the choice for starter and dessert was limited. I had soup for starter, which was disappointing a didn't taste homemade. The main course I chose gammon. The meat and the carrots were excellent. The chef serving the carvery was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately the Yorkshire pudding wasn't great, the stuffing balls were bought it and so were the roast potatoes which meant that the meal overall was average. If more of the meal was homemade I think this would significantly improve the quality of the main meal. Dessert again was average, crumble with custard. This seems a cheap offer but I think you can get better quality for a similar price. The atmosphere was great and the restarant was busy, seemed to be popular with families.I wasn't very happy with the service. When I asked of apple sauce was available the waitress replied "erm...I don't think so" with no offer of going to make sure! I am a restaurant supervisor myself and would find this response unacceptable from my staff. Waiting staff need to learn to respond politely and go above and beyond for customers. If the quality of food improved I would return, some good points, some bad - average Sunday lunch.

I took a couple of my work colleague’s here for an evening meal in the restaurant and we all had the Sirloin Steak `Diane’ at £23 each. We all asked for the steaks to be cooked `medium’ and mine turned up on the plate cremated and would be better described a 250 grams of gristle and fat; totally inedible, although I returned it with a complaint I’m sure the staff couldn’t care less. Of the remaining 2; one turned up pretty rare. In fact, I think If i a gave it CPR it would have lived again and walked away back home. The last one was overdone and proved to be a really tough opponent putting up a good fight, so much so my colleague conceded 2 thirds in as her Jaw stopped working, even the steak knife struggled to carve into this particularly arrogant bit of beef. The starters were ok and the chips that came with the main were fantastic!

Well the smoked chicken salad had bones in it (it was shredded chicken for God's sake). The Salmon was a unfiilleted despite being advertised as such and MASSIVELY over done. I also had the bitterest corgettes I have ever eaten. These dishes were not my first or second choice, pretty much everything being "off". I wish I had gone "off". I didn't pay and shall not return.

Great for any kind of occasion but you must book early to get seats in the restaurant and spend a good few hours eating, we had the buffet menu which we thought was the best option. You can start at the pasta bar or a salad bar which has lots of extras (including salmon) and soup is there as well, then the main Sunday roast which is a choice of meats and self service vegetables with the added extras. After this you have a choice of cakes, mouses, fresh waffles or cheese and biscuits to finish

We went to this restaurant with friends of ours. 3 of us had the flatbreads for starters and I had the pâté. The flatbreads were quite a large portion so one could be shared between two. All starters were excellent quality and good value for money. (around 5-6pounds each). However I did notice that some starters were nearing the £8 mark like the prawn cocktail which seemed expensive. We all had steak and they were all excellent quality and cooked to perfection. I think when paying £22 per steak a sauce should be provided rather than having to pay extra for it.Desserts were a slight disappointment and certainly didn't match up to the quality of the rest of the meal. They were average. The stucky toffee pudding was more like treacle sponge.Great atmosphere. Good service. Great quality of food but slightly expensive. They do do an early bird menu but the choices on it could have been better (if us very cheap so this is to be expected).Definitely worth a try if you want a quality meal especially if you like steak.

I have eaten at The Village in the Verve Restaurant many times and as with every occasion this did not disappoint. The selection is fantastic and quality just brilliant. The only thing I would say is it is very busy and understaffed at busy periods. Danny one of the chefs was very accommodating and eager to help. Just had a brilliant Sunday lunch in the restaurant at The Village Hotel. After several reccommendations from work colleagues I went with my family, 7 of us. For £11.95 we had a fabulous selection of all you can eat starters, carvery, sweets, cheese board, pasta station, waffle station etc!!!! The quality on our visit was excellent, you even had 2 types of beef on the carvery, medium and rare!! The rare was delicious! The menu is also served all day Sunday. Great staff, very clean, but being a hotel the drinks are a little pricey but considering the quality and value...who cares!!!

What a shame. This place is clearly run down. Hygiene and housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. Food - edible but disappointing and certainly not as the pictures in the menu promise. We've been coming here for 15 years but this was the last time. A sign of this times i guess. This place needs serious investment to bring it to its former glory.

From the moment I walked in with my 5 month old baby, Emme welcomed me. I sat down and fed my baby whilst I waited for friends to come and Emme went out her way to come to my table to take my drinks order and bring the card machine to me as I was feeding my baby. She was very smiley, friendly and checked how our food was when it came. Thank you Emme for your lovely service!
