Great spot. Can't recommend it enough

Terrible service - didn’t acknowledge us when we walked in, didn’t know whether we needed to order at till or if they come to you. Eventually went to the till and stood there for about 10 minutes. Not ideal ordering at the till when there is a group of you. Didn't have any change so couldn't pay cash. Food took ages and was just about warm. Chef brought the food out and he was grafted! Put the music on really loud even though there was about 3 people in. Didn't take away our plates. I don’t normally write reviews but feel like i need too with this one as I like to support local businesses but wont be going back.

Always been a regular customer and really like r+g but found it's really gone down hill. Walked in and lady with white hair said sit down and I'll take your order. She then stares at the till for 5 mins and then has a casual chat with a colleague for another 5 mins. It's not like me to do but I walked out

Really poor service. Visited on a Saturday and only 1 chef and 1 waitress. We sat down on a table that had just been cleared and not wiped down, the waitress left to the local Tesco to get some more beans with plenty of breakfasts going cold on the side, and we waited 10 mins to order our breakfast before we decided to leave, as it was so poor. The chef didn’t even acknowledge us when I asked where she’d gone, he just said she’s gone to shop I can’t do anything I’ve got all these breakfasts to sort, no customer service skills at all.

Ordered sausage egg butty to take out under cooked egg slimey an put tin tomato mix with something else I didn't ask for £6.45 never go their again

Awful service...... 40 minute wait to receive a cold breakfast,the food was cooked and sat for 15 minutes while the single serving staff continued to take new orders and serve drinks while ignoring the cooked food, we eventually went to fetch it ourselves, as did others, only to find it had gone cold while sat on the counter top. It did look nice, however we chose to return it and accept a refund.

A really great little place to have breakfast. Food was lovely and you get plenty of it. The service was very friendly.

Food is absolutely fantastic here, the breakfasts are to die for and the staff are a pleasure and always go above and beyond for their customers. We visit here on a weekly basis and it’s always a 10/10 from us.

The coffee came on time and was nice , but the breakfast came about 40 minutes late and the beans were burnt.

Best little gem in Hull, the breakfast sandwich I had wad excellent, maybe the best I've had and coffee was delicious. Plus a ginger cat hangs about nearby the outside seating and she's really friendly

Bad customer service. I wanted to try this place to have breakfast with my partner and 2 yo. My breakfast came without any eggs although i paid extra to have an extra egg. I nearly finished my breakfast and i have received one egg only and when i said i actually didn’t have any eggs , the person from the kitchen who delivered it said this was what she had been told. And that’s it. No one checked on us or offered a refund of the extra we paid or discount for missing items on the plate. Generally on arrival was also very poor service as no one told us we need to go order on the till and we were just waiting to be served for a while until i had to ask them although the waitress was available and had eye contact with us many times but didn’t bother to come to welcome or ask if we were ready to order or how we could place our order. Food was okay. Atmosphere and decor is lovely. Wouldn’t want to go back due to bad customer service.

Lucas’s brownies are probably the best in hull/ kingswood. The atmosphere is amazing the food is amazing 10/10 and its dog friendly too we love it here :)

We’ve been a few times now and each time the food has been fantastic, well worth it for what you get and there’s a great selection for both adults and children. Coffee is good and the Brownies are great to share between two. Great addition to the area.

First time trying rise and grind, lovely welcome and wonderful atmosphere. Ordered the classic breakfast 😋, it was amazing. Requested different cooking options and they fulfilled my request with no issue. Highly recommend.

We had their big breakfast option, both cooked really well and was very enjoyable. Portion was huge and good value for money. First time here but will definitely be back soon

Great atmosphere, burger was amazing and very tasty one of the best I’ve had in Hull.

My wife and myself took grandkids to Santa's breakfast Grandkids enjoyed it very much and the breakfast was very good. Been there a few times for a meal, food is excellent.

The waitress was rude when we walked in i asked is they had a table for two she replied we’ll have you booked ? We got a table near the door ordered two breakfasts all the brown sauces where empty so I asked for some brown sauce she just said we ain’t got any ( even though there’s Tesco 40 yards away ) they soon went and bought bread from there even when we left and said thank you they just ignored me and my partner just rude and if your in that business customers are your bread and butter !!!!!!

This was our second visit today slightly disappointed with the smaller breakfast as previously we had toast with it and beans were in a ramakin

We have been going to Rise and Grind at Kingswood for months, very often with Tyler our dog. Always great experience, food, drinks and atmosphere. Great staff This morning I went with Tyler, and he had a huge seizure while there. I believe the manager was so lovely and the customers that were there so so supportive. Thank you all for your help.

Couldn’t tell you what the food is like, as I paid for my order and never received it. After being advised by a staff member at Rise & Grind to cancel my order (over an hour after I placed it) because they wouldn’t get it to me on time, I was still charged for the food order by Uber. I raised this with Uber who replied informing that the restaurant had been reimbursed for the order but I had my delivery fee reimbursed. I raised this with staff at Rise & Grind and was met with excuse after excuse, Empty promises of a phone call from manager Zoe that never happened and a lie saying Uber had reimbursed me despite me having an email chain that proved I hadn’t and that the restarting had been taken my money. Overall result is they stole my money, never reimbursed me or even so much as offered to remake my order. Appalling customer service.

Me and my partner came in on Monday for something to eat for brunch/lunch around 3 oclock, the food tasted great by the way, but anyway the next day my partner got food poisoning from the steak and kale sandwich. He was throwing up all day/night, he wasn't well at all and looked white as a ghost. We know it was from that as that's all he had to eat all day/night. I'm not one to usually complain and I haven't had any other issues in the past times I have eaten there. I just wanted to let you know and others be aware. x

Absolutely beautiful foods can not fault, the only thing is the wait 50 minutes for food and your drink comes in the first 2 minutes of sitting down, so if you don’t buy another you don’t have a drink with your breakfast, you should be asked the option to have your drink with your meal

Really disappointed. Food was not good. Ordered crushed avocado with tomatoes and poached egg (£1.50 extra) The avocado was actually guacamole not crushed avocado, there was hardly any tomatoes, more like a garnish and the poached egg was well over cooked and was solid. Mentioned to the waitress and she said it was a new head chef. Surely a chef should be able to cook a simple egg? Still.had to pay for the eggs though.

Great food and drink. However, places that serve food should not have dogs in them so we will not be returning. Shame as we would have been regulars but it's off putting and unhygienic to allow animals where food is being served.

Myself and family came in and had burgers and a pie. The burgers were OK, fat could have been trimmed off the bacon though. Cheesy Garlic bread side order appeared to have cheese slices on and it wasn't nice. Lady waitress said was American cheese she changed it to a plain garlic bread no extra Cost which was very good of her. Lovely attentive staff and we well try a breakfast there at some point. We thought it was a little overpriced tbh. The Stevensons 🤩

Waited for a while for order to be taken, Drinks took nearly as long as food order, did get 20%discount because of wait. Eggs beneidict not good the bacon was full of fat and burnt the whole thing looked like it was just thrown on the plate. The waitress serving us had her hair down and kept putting her hands in it and then serving food!

Our 1st visit to this place, main reason was for the singer Jade Scott, was a great afternoon listening and drinking, we then had a meal, flat iron steak and sirloin steak on a hot stone, with extra onion rings, both where excellent, we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, as in the photo with the manager, it is also dog friendly for well behaved dogs, we will be looking out for the next singer as this might be a regular event and definitely be calling again.

Went in the afternoon. It's a relatively new place think it maybe needs to get more established. Drink choices are good as are Hot drink choices. Was no one else inside when I went but it was hot and there was an occupied table outside. Didn't eat on this occasion as wasn't really anything on menu that caught my eye. Wasn't a huge selection in my opinion, however the staff were lovely and it does have potential

You have to eat here! First time and will definitely going back the food was 10/10 I loved the steak on the rock and the staff couldn’t of been more accommodating and friendly.

Went in for breakfast food freshly cooked was very nice and the coffee was excellent if you like it strong. The manager was very knowledgeable and attentive. Would go back for lunch or dinner. Licenced bar and cocktail menu.

Nice place - good food and friendly staff. Wish i had realised you can change out the focaccia for normal bread. Was just a bit “much” having all that bulky bread with what was otherwise a 10/10 meal. Will be back again though. My boys milkshake was delicious 😋 Updated to 5 ***** from 4 as hot steaks for evening meal were fantastic. Great service too 🏆 😋

Eating in lovely but ordering as a takeaway it's like they have seperate chefs. Missing items, food quality bad complete opposite to sitting in and eating. Very strange.

Went for breakfast - Nice decor but food below average. Bacon advertised as crispy but full of fat and not particularly generous with avocado and tomatoes on the toast that was burnt. We won't be going again.

Rude staff and will definitely not be going again. As a family with a 2 year old and a 3 month old we thought we would pop for some breakfast. I parked outside and went into check availability of a table. The waitress informed me there was space and a place for a high chair. So then I returned to the car to collect my family. We was seated in a comfortable booth and I must say the decor was lovely. The waitress informed us that there was a menu on the table oh and food didn’t start till 10 (the time was 9.30). We debated if to stay and we decided to give it a go. We waited for order to be taken but nothing. After observing other customers we noticed it was counter service (would have been nice to be told). So I went to the counter to order, to then be told we couldn’t actually order the food till 10 as he was doing prep. This in my eyes was ridiculous as what stops taking orders for the chef to start when he has finished (I managed a successful Italian restaurant for 3 years) his prep. I said to the waitress I wish you had told me this when I came in to ask if there was a table. Her reply was “it’s on the menu “ , which was interesting as I had not even looked at a menu when I asked for a table. I was then told it’s only 30 mins, which i replied with have you tried to entertain a 2 year old for 30 mins with no food. Which her reply was I have 4 kids at home. So not only not informing us, but also questioning our parenting ability as well. Then I was being told I was having a go. Which I most definitely was not. I was stating a fact if she had told me at point of entry I would have not got a 2 year old and 3 month old out of the car. If that is how staff handle a customer complaint then I most definitely won’t be returning there again. To be told I was having a go when I was asking for a more efficient service and also advising for future customer experience is downright rude. Definitely need better training for front of house staff of how to handle customer complaints

Nice place, friendly service. But we didn't eat there as it's dog friendly. We really feel that places to eat should at least have a separate area for dogs inside places to eat.

Went for late lunch on Friday 24th. Got to say the food was good and coffee nice. But the service was very below average even with it been quiet. Shame as we live near by but won’t be rushing back due too rubbish service.

Mojito Cocktail was very expensive and when it arrived I was disappointed with the taste and that ice cubes were used over crushed ice. The food menu is small but the food I ordered was lovely. Just a shame the drinks were disappointing

Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Steak and burgers perfect only snag to much dressing on salad but that's my preference will definitely return.

Sooo disappointed, went for breakfast, ordered poached eggs, husband ordered fried, Breakfast came, eggs like rubber balls, bacon was completely inedible, the sausage was nice but could have been cooked a little more, the toast was burnt, we were absolutely gutted! It's not hard to make a decent breakfast! With the limited choice you have on the menu you need to be making what is on it outstanding, not just ok! Coffee was really nice, & the service is great, Think we will be just popping for coffee in future 😔

Wanted too try rise grind as I live on kingswood and have used the village green previously. me my wife had 2 main dinner dishes. and drinks the staff were friendly and the service was good. But for value for money and the limited menu for food and drink availability. Think they haven't reached the standard set by the village green bistro.

Perfect food, great customer service and a Warm and welcoming atmosphere

Great Decor, Great Music, everything else was very basic. Upon arrival we were shown our table which was directly next to the door, and it was absolutely freezing, at first I thought it was just us, but there were 3 other people including my wife wearing coats at the tables. We asked if we could move to another table, and was told no, although there were at least 9 other empty tables which we could've moved to. I asked a few questions about the menu and items to the waitress, she didn't have a clue about any of it. I ordered the burger with no bacon, it turned up with bacon. And my wife ordered salmon which turned up with numerous bones in. The chips were good, and the dill sauce for the salmon. We then had to ask for the dessert menu once our plates were cleared, as we weren't offered anything else. They don't have one, they just have a few cakes on the counter to choose from, nothing hot. I ordered a coffee anyway, which to say they have a very expensive machine, was average. Lovely decor, music and atmosphere, but won't be rushing back unfortunately.

We visited on the opening weekend, group of 4, two of us had good full English breakfasts however our friends French toast was a bit odd in the fact it hadn’t been soaked in egg so was literally just bacon and maple syrup on toast. We asked a member of staff and was told thats how it comes?? Eggs Benedict came missing the bacon as advertised on menu - we asked a young waitress, but on her way to the kitchen she stopped and spoke to the table behind us and totally forgot us, so we had to ask another member of staff for the bacon. Ordered two cappuccinos, one decaf… both turned up as regular and I was told that’s what I ordered when I know I hadn’t as my partner doesn’t drink regular! Slow service in general, few details need to be worked on, but opening weekend few teething problems expected so will give benefit of the doubt. Nice place and setting, but quite pricey. Will likely try again in a month or two once they have had chance to settle in. Dog friendly is a massive plus for us 👍🏼

Enjoyed my bacon sandwich and coffee. Its just a shame people take advantage of the dog friendly policy! A constant high pitch yapping from a dachshund didn't make for a pleasant environment. I left earlier than I wanted and decided not to have a cake to finish, so I could escape the din. Maybe you should put a sign up that says you will be asked to leave if your dog is not quiet and well behaved!

Visited today (Sunday 19th Feb) for the first time, definitely won't be the last. Lovely ambiance, staff really helpful and friendly, had sandwiches from the afternoon menu, delicious, cocktails were good too Best wishes to the staff, hope it really takes off for you.

We went for 2 hot chocolates. 1 deluxe ( cream and marshmallows. There was 5 in total. ) small cups and I think that the the chocolate was blown into the cup. It was VERY weak. It tasted more like warm milk with a small hint of chocolate powder thrown in..this cost us £8.65 for the two. Very overpriced. The cafe itself was spotlessly clean. With a nice ambience. The waitress was very friendly and obliging. Would I return.? No.

Great start to our visit with a friendly greeting. Food was nice however I would have liked a bread option and French toast would have been better with fresh cream and fruit. Eggs Benedict had been drowned in sauce, so that would have been better separate for personal preference next time. Overall, a lovely experience and would recommend.

Really nice comfy interior, the coffee was good and my partners rise and grind breakfast was great, however the French toast left me a little confused, the maple and bacon was served on plain brown toast and wasn't quite what I expected, but at least the bacon was delicious! 😅 They were pretty busy when we left so I didn't get a chance to ask if it was supposed to be like that, but either way decent overall.

The food was really nice . We both had steak pie, the service was really good too . Great to have this on the doorstep
