The Empress in Kingston upon Hull, City of

I was looking forward to a post-lockdown pint and this pub was just the ticket. It tasted delicious and the kind lady working there even recommended another good place to drink that we tried later too.The outside of the pub is beautiful and it is located very centrally.

A somewhat down at heel and slightly ropey pub in Hull city centre. It`s clean and reasonably priced for drinks and has a small outdoor area in front of the pub which is pleasant in the sun. There are a lot of better options close by which is a pity as this pub has an attractive exterior not matched by the interior.

Good atmosphere some old classics on jukebox like bay city rollers, penny arcade . This is while darts matchs on Monday good night Colin team good set of people with also one dart Julie.

oh what food? home made steak and kidney pie.and chips. and a paint of beer just right all for £6.00 brillent

Well I have to say this is a lovely pub with the wrong people running it I have worked in the hull city centre for over 30 years and it’s well known that the landlady it rude and not very friendly today just cemented that’s for me - having a catch up with my lovely friend Amanda and a hand reached in between both of us chatting and stuck her fingers in my glass and two empty glasses on the table I protested and said I was still drinking (this is not the first time she has done this to me or my friends) but she just put the drink back down NO APOLOGY and just walked away what the hell - I said to my friend did that just happen - I told one of the lovely waitresses what had happened and she apologised and changed my drink HELLO THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN EVER BUT DEFINITELY NOT IN THE MIDST OF THE CORONA VIRUS - people should not work in hospitality if they do not like people

Too noisy, never been in long enough for a meal, always crowded in doorway, good choice of drinks, when you get to the bar, too many people stood at the bar, no one will move to let you get served, not many seats, always have to stand.

Proper English food and plenty of it. Never had a bad meal there ever so realy don't know about the odd bad reviews.? Always friendly good choice of basic fare that never disapoints

What a load of crap . How can you get fish and chips wrong. Do not eat there. Dreadful curry and scruffy.

Ordered a mixed grill, kitchen staff were rude when asked about missing Items listed on the menu & the mixed grill was tough as old boots.. Bar staff where great, only upside! Won't go again for food!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch hear the beef is really nice. Lovely atmosphere in there . Really like lady sue who serves the meals she so nice and happy with every one

Great pub for atmosphere and party music. 4 types of gin on the optics served but NO GIN GLASSES?!? Offered a wine glass or a San Miguel glass?When a pub like this is full Saturdays & Sunday’s ... money making !! You’d think they’d be able to provide £1 gin glasses? Not everyone who comes in here just wants a beer or a white wine . A little thought for your customers would go far .... just saying !!Other pubs £24 a round .. beautifully presented with fruit & gin glass ... £22 EMPRESS in half a lager glass

Myself and my partner were in town for the afternoon shopping and visiting the local museums with our toddler. Whilst she had her nap we popped in for a quick drink to get out of the cold weather. Having been refused entry into one pub due to having a pram we were a bit anxious to try another pub. However we were made very welcome at this pub there was also another family with a young baby that was being fed. The male member of staff was very polite and had put a good choice of songs on for the customers. The bar itself is quite dated it felt like a good old fashioned pub from the 90's, table's were clean and tidy.

beer bang average and all jolly expensive alright if you are desperate for a drink and cant be bothered to walk a further 50 metres.

The lady above was very rude ... she asked for the steak pie herself after been told there was no fish ... IF doesn't like the pie that is her individual choice ... as all the pies are freshly made in the morning and sell out every day will no complaints wots soever ... as for her crying ... attention seeking comes to mid ...

This is a must visit for a night out we popped in for a drink during the northern light show as part of Hull City of Culture Celebrations wow so glad we did what a fantastic atmosphere we just had drinks and danced the night away. No dress code no one wouldn’t fit in here a really great mix of old and young and dressed up and others in jumpers but no one cared...my new favourite place fanbloodytastic!

Can't fault this place. Excellent city centre pub opposite queens gardens. Never had a bad drink. Always friendly staff and quick service. Excellent pub grub as well. Always worth a visit!!

Un po' attratto dalla molta gente di fronte al pub e un po' dal bell'aspetto esteriore dello stesso, sono entrato per una birra.

Popped in here before the escape rooms. The drinks were cheap enough but it wasn’t the most pleasant experience . It was generally grubby. But as a quick pop in it was fine . Won’t rush back

We came in here for drinks before going to escape hull. It was dirty inside however the drinks were nice. the toilets need to be cleaned more often and maybe change the layout of the pub inside.

Absolutely gutted after our visit here last week.
