George Hotel in Kingston upon Hull, City of

After traipsing around Hull for a dog friendly pub I found this gem. It was quite busy for a Thursday lunchtime but my two well behaved dogs were more than welcomed. The barman got them some water and a dog biscuit each. I enjoyed a long cold Erdinger too. Would have stayed for more if I hadn’t wasted my time looking for such a pub. Nice place, good range of beers, friendly atmosphere and the staff more than helpful.

Card machine should be movable behind bar, instead of fighting to get to other end of bar after each visa debit purchase. Good atmosphere especially with visiting singers etc. Pints reasonably priced. Staff attentive. Never disappoints.

Awesome place holds a place in my heart. Great when quiet, fantastic when it was an artist on. Only downer twice now. I've been waiting at the bar , and the bar person is smoking outside. And I'm waiting over 5/10 minutes. Just unlucky I guess. With two entrances .

Not been in this place much but saying that beer was first class and cheap and very homely ! Would defo go again staff are very friendly !!

I've just found the pub I've always dreamed of It used to be very pricey but now that craft union have taken it over its as cheap as chips Downstairs they've kept the original features of when it was built but upstairs a wonderful sports bar Two different worlds in the same place Best bar in Hull. However the sports bar isn't always available. A different landlord now the atmosphere just isn't the same but it's still a cracking pint of John Smith's. I very rarely venture into it but I'm considering giving it a second chance

Not tried the food but had many bottles of prosecco in there. Decent atmosphere, clean toilets. Always start a night out in there now

Barmaid too busy talking to customers to serve drinks. Stood at bar for at least 5 minutes before Barmaid acknowledged we were at bar. Won't be going again!!!!!

Brilliant Pub that nestles itself in the heart of the old town. Home to the smallest window in England and some fantastically priced pints. If you want an old school pub feel, stay downstairs on an evening and join in any conversation. Or, looking for a spot to watch sports; head upstairs in the modern bar area with multiple screens! Went to watch the boxing, barmaid to busy to put it on, great, advertising Sky sports and can't be arsed to put it on. Had to watch on a mobile phone. Well at least they had a advert showing on the.v.

This is based on the fact I am only 38. The atmosphere as ok but the age demographic was very top heavy. I felt like a kid in there. That said it is not a bad pub. It's just not great if you're under 50.

Traditional old worldy pub, beers bang on, no funny pints here. Use the place regularly. No loud music during afternoons, easy to chat and have conversations. Never eaten here so I can't comment.

Lovely little old English pub bursting with history and atmosphere. Friendly staff and punters. Excellent service and reasonably priced drinks. Could spend all night in here. It's apparent that the manager takes great pride in this place.

In the land of green Ginger the George Hotel is is a proper unspoilt British pub, serving a good selection of quality hand-pulled cask conditioned real ale. A very friendly pub with an unspoilt interior and wooden floors. Occasional live music. There is a brass plate the outside showing the position of the smallest window in England.

Love coming here, it's a right little gem, if ever I'm in selby I make sure I cone to this pub

Generally visit the George for the monthly comedy evening which is usually very good. Also visit when having a drink around town, the beer is always good and remains very good value5

Love historic building with lots going on in side .amazing nights through out the week from comedy nights ,music bingo that there encourage to cheat live artist/ bands I the upper george room and of course live sports with the commentary on . There fantastic drink offers daily and double up on all spirit's for £1.25 was a bonus for me . And there a choice of a least 5 cask ales on in which the helpful and polite staff allowed me to taste each one .

Always fabulous. They certainly serve the best Guinness in my opinion.

Great old pub in the centre of Hull. Loads of history, including UK's narrowest window. Always busy.

First time in for probably 30 years so maybe memory is a bit hazy. I recall it being very popular and it always felt a bit classy with an excellent restaurant upstairs. This recent visit didnt give me the same vibe. Decent beer and good service but felt like just another slightly downmarket city centre pub.

A fantastic boozer. Original features, decent real ale and rugby league in the telly. I spent years going round the old town and had never even heard of this place. It's now a must visit.

On a cold, windy midweek evening, when many of the city’s pubs were well nigh empty, the fact that the big bar in the George was busy says a lot about the pub. More to the point, it was obvious from the mix of people that this is a true local bar and it’s easy to see why it is so popular. The decor isn’t just old-style, it’s old in respect of not been refurbished for rather a long time. But somehow, that works perfectly here. In keeping things as they are you retain the comfort that the place has in abundance. This is a bar in which familiarity breeds relaxation. This is a place of obvious contentment where people can chat or watch sport on television while enjoying decent beers and excellent service. It’s really what pubs should be all about.

Didn’t stay in this hotel, but just visited as part of a walk around Hull Old Town. The hotel has reputedly the smallest window in England. It really is a window and looks like a slit. You can even look through the window into the hotel. Not that you’ll see much unless you have outstanding eyesight.

Great back street boozer with a newly refurbed sports bar upstairs...and one of the cheapest places to grab premium beer Staropramen for less than £4 a pint 🍺🙏👌

Thank you so much for the service, very friendly staff who were helpful and accommodated me well. Cannot praise these enough and it’s an establishment I would recommend many more to go to as it might’ve been quieter but they are some of the more friendlier staff I have come across.5*

A classic example of how pubs used to be. The character oozes out of its wood panelling. The real ale we had was superb, well kept and full bodied.
