For Fathers Day we decided to go for a meal as we're members of the leisure centre. We were served by Lisa who really looked after us. There was quite a wide range of healthy low carb options on the menu which really made a chanfe. Woukd highly recommend and will definitely be returning. You also get £10 every month to use for being a member of the gym Thanks very much it really made our day special. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ordered the £13 Spinach and Sweet Potato Curry, came as a bowl full of rice with a small spoonful of curry in the middle, complained to the waiter who brought it and the one who took it away to no avail. Had the same curry at the Village Leeds South and the portion was twice the size with rice and curry in separate bowls.

Well thank goodness we went on the Meerkat meal deal, as if I'd paid £65 for the 4 Sunday carvery's I'd be very unhappy! Welcome and venue were fine, server was very polite. Now the food, soup was ok, warm so fine served with warm bread which was a nice touch. The starters were good, fresh fish, meats, pate bread and salad. The main course, this is where it fell down The chef carved the thinnest peices of meat, Yorkshire pudding was cooked to death, crispy to the point of solid. Stodgy balls of stuffing, cauliflower was under cooked and hard, so too were the sprouts. Looks like they rush cooking them just to get them out. Gravy was quite watery. This was finished with Sticky Toffee pudding which was obviously a tray bake which had literally no flavour and again stodgy, same with the apple crumble just no taste, perhaps the chef needs to find the spice rack! Custard was again thin. The saving Grace was the ice cream machine with toppings, and the small pots of mousse and cheesecake. This seems very critical, but it's not what you expect from a good hotel, especially when their poster says best carvery "proof is in the pudding". It's not and they really do need to step up and get it sorted, place was not full at prime time for lunch, that tells you everything! Hopefully the manager reads these reviews and will look to sort it out, I will give it a couple of months then have a return visit to see if they have changed.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated but that is where the positives end unfortunately. The Sunday carvery was the worst I have eaten. The beef was dry and tough, the mashed potato was the consistency of rice pudding, the roast potatoes were so soggy they couldn't hold their own shape. The restaurant was dead and I am not surprised. £15 is great value for all you can eat, if the food is at least average quality, which this wasn't. Despite the restaurant being dead, everything took a long time. I understand that the cocktails come from another bar, but they were left on the side in the grill for 15 minutes before any of the staff realised they were there and bought them over.

We visited the village hotel verve restaurant whilst staying in the hotel for 2 nights in August. Although the look of the restaurant was good and the staff friendly and attentive we found the meal to be overpriced for the quality of food. I chose the beef stroganoff and side of Parmesan and chilli broccoli this cost £22 , there was next to no beef in the stroganoff, rice cold and broccoli not great either, my husband had the salmon skewers which were fairly small again came to £22 and although believe should have came with rice they did not. We won’t be dining here again.

Myself and my teenage son visited today 20/05/18 at 1pm for Sunday lunch. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who saw us to our table and made polite conversation as she was seating us. We were informed our waiter would Be Lewis who would be along shortly. We sat down and Lewis arrived promptly, took our drink orders and explained the process to us letting us know the soup was sweet potato and carrot and the hot dessert was apple crumble with ice cream/custard. We went to get our starters and what a choice ! I could have filled up just on these! I had a prawn cocktail, smoked salmon, tomato and goats cheese and asked for a bowl of the soup which Shannon the manager went to fetch us as she was passing and helpfully said she would. Our starter plates were cleared away promptly by Lewis and another waitress who was equally helpful, the service here was second to none. All The staff helped each other, they were all Warm and approachable and smiley! It was a very comfortable experience. Meats were Gammon, turkey and beef and choice of veg was excellent. All the food was cooked well and hot! We both had dessert which again was delicious! Paying our bill we were wished well! We left feeling full, happy and AMAZING value for Money! £13.95 each! We will come again and would like to thank Shannon, Lewis, And the other floor staff for their exemplary service and the chefs Dom and Matt for making our Sunday awesome! Thanks all!

Ate here as part of a deal at the hotel. Two suppers - 2 courses from the set menu. Both vegetarians and neither of us wanted the main course, spinach curry. ANd that was the choice! We mentioned this to the waitress and she checked and asked if we could have the veggie burger and we could and did and it was pretty good. BUT served on a wooden plate which was obviously the plates used for the meat burgers too. Yuck, yuck yuck. If you were veggie you would understand. Meat juices soaked into the grain. Yuck. Please think again, very unpleasant and spoiled our dinner.

There aren't really any other decent dining restaurant options within walking distance of The Village Hotel. If you are staying at the hotel it's a choice of eating in or a taxi ride to somewhere else. The hotels Verve restaurant has recently been refurbished and offers a reasonable range of stopover cuisine. Restaurant can be fairly empty at times - but is a respectable meal with very helpful staff. Hotel breakfasts served here as well - but solo business traveller may prefer to have a bar meal in the sports bar on other side of hotel foyer.

We stayed at the village and booked into the Verve on a Sunday night. The staff were lovely and very friendly. I couldn't fault them. However the quality of the meal was poor and over priced for what we got. We had three courses and ordered a bottle of prosecco from the menu. I was surprised to see on the bill we had been charged £23 for the bottle, when the menu stated it as costing less that £16. We ordered a Creme Brulee for dessert and this came out cold. We didn't complain as it was a celebration weekend and I didn't want to put a damper on anything. However the 10% service charge didn't warrant what we received. After not visiting for almost 2 years we decided to return after hearing the place had had a refurb and as we all have a good healthy appetite decided to re try the Sunday all you can eat carvery . Place is looking fab . With a great welcome from the service staff ,we were quickly shown to our table we had booked and our drinks order was taken .. So far so good :) We all went and helped ourselves to the starters and was all pleasantly suprised at what selections they had. Smoked mackerel was a nice addition along with pork pie , selection of meats and prawn cocktails (with a good helping if prawns) .. Soup was available which they brought to the table with fresh warm breads . Spot on . Now the Carvery . What every one likes with a carvery is a decent "tasty" Yorkshire pudding !!! .. Unfortunately this was not what we got. The Yorkshire pudding was like a huge piece of oven baked cardboard , that no matter how much gravy you put over it ,it just wouldn't cut and it tasted of absolutely nothing .. (Like the ones you get at a Toby carvery - the reason we don't go anymore !! ..) The meat was lovely and very tender and the veg selection good but PLEASE sort out the Yorkshire puddings .. All 4 of us left ours and so did the table next to us !! It's a Yorkshire pudding .. So cheap & easy to make .. Deserts were good ,not a massive selection but the guys did enjoy the waffles made to order.

When I eventually did get a seat the waitress who served me was friendly and polite so it made up for my initial wait! I ordered the jalapeño mac n cheese for starters, this was delicious but only had 3 pieces of jalapeño scattered over the top - it was also quite a large portion for a starter, but I wasn't complaining! For mains I had the cod, which was beautifully presented and very tasty. I would definitely eat here again as the food was bought quickly and was really tasty! With a mix of starters, mains and desserts we all enjoyed our choices, although I felt the batter in the Fritto Misto, could have been cooked for a fraction longer for my personal taste. it was also refreshing to see that a service charge hadn't been automatically to the bill even though we did leave a tip it was good to have the option. We haven't been for Sunday lunch for a while so we were surprised to see the restaurant had been refurbished - very nice. Today's Sunday lunch was dreadful ! The only good thing was the soup. The choice of starters has been drastically reduced. We had to ask for the prawns and ham hock terrine to be refilled, the same for the horseradish and cranberry sauce. The starters are now situated in a small corner so if there are more than about 4 of you, you struggle to get round. Our table was not cleared down by the waitress so we had to move empty plates onto the next table, though she cleared plates away for the couple seated next to us. We were not asked once if everything was ok. The beef was dry, the gammon very salty, the vegetables were as dry and withered looking as anything. The gravy was overpoweringly strong so added to spoiling the meal. The custard was thin, runny and tasted like water. Upon paying, we were finally asked if everything was ok to which we said it wasn't, much to the surprise of the waitress. We asked to speak to a manager only to be told there was not one in today - what a surprise ! and what a shame the team cannot be left unsupervised. Came here today for Sunday lunch with my family, haven't been for well over a yr as every time we go the food just gets worse and worse,so today we thought we would give it a try as it's been refurbed, well no amount of investment or lick of paint has changed the food in any way, there was hardly no selection of starters or deserts, were as last yr there was a good variety of both, it seems that they've totally cut back on many of the starters and deserts they once served as they were actually pretty decent, we're it goes down hill is the carvery, the meat is always dry and tough were it has bin sat under the lights all afternoon the Yorkshire puddings are a joke and every thing else like greens and what not are just over cooked and not appealing at all, I realy think the top bosses of this place should come here for dinner one Sunday and bring there family and see if they would be satisfied what they got for the price they paid, this may seem a harsh review but we go and try to give it a nother go and totally regret it afterwards, the service I can't fault we was seated promptly drinks came fast and was asked numerous times if everything was ok, I was honest with the waitress and just told her it was not good and was very poor, she didn't look to happy but that is by no means her fault, sorry but won't be wasting my money here ever again, I've been a faithful customer here for over 4 yrs, if I notice no change surely I can't be the only one,,,

The verve restaurant has been refurbished and is now more cafe style which is a real shame. One side of the restaurant appeared modern, while the other side was shabby chic, & not sure it really works. It's a mish mash.It was a busy Saturday night and as we walked in the noise level hit you, it was really loud the noise levels didn't seem to decrease as people left either, which was strange. The manager served us the wine, well, I say served,he put it down on the table and when a chap on the next table spoke to him, promptly ignored us and went off !!The food was okay. We had 40 minute wait to be offered dessert, while every other table was served. We just seemed to be ignored, although we did get a complimentary drink for the delay. All in all, it was okay, but could and should have been better.

The meal was mostly ok, nothing to write home about. The menu strangely describes their butchers steak as 'cut from the diaphragm' which put lots of people off. Goan fish curry was sent back as rice undersooked and virtually raw and the curry itself so salty it was inedible. replaced very quickly though. Service fine. Quite expensive, roughly £6 for starter and £10 for main, i would recommend going cheaper and going to a nearby pub.

i always prefer to eat at the Verve Grill rather than the restaurant which is lovely but very expensive for stretched pockets.

As per normal we booked for a family gathering at the Village for the Sunday lunch. This was and could be in the future THE best Sunday carvers in the local area without a doubt, but the following is why it isn't at the moment. We were taken promptly to our table and then left, I had to call someone over to take a drinks order which came about 10 minutes later.Off we go then to sample today's soup, which was empty. The salad selection was non existent and we had to wait around another 5 minutes for someone to come past to ask them to replenish. No apology just ok I will get some. For the mains the carving chefs seem to have a bet on who can cut the thinnest slices of meat, no care is taken to remove fat or gristle. Why do they have to serve the stuffing and Yorkshire puddings??? They were awful this time stodgy and flat, they were commented on by everyone in the queue! The veg is very hit and miss the Chelsea cauliflower is great, Brussels were hard, mash has too much salt and the parsnips are really good.Never enough gravy and its gone very thin, it used to be nice and thick but now like water, more cost saving? The condiments are always low or empty and getting it replenished is near impossible. The desserts selection has halved from what it originally was and the hot pudding was an empty dish from when we went in to when we left.Clearing of the plates needs some more attention. It would be so much better if they restaurant was zoned for the staff, so that's my part to concentrate on. Manager or supervisor to check every 15 mins for what needs replenishing in the salad and pudding area.Chefs to cut meat thicker and learn how to do risen Yorkshire puddings. We love coming here but it is going to be so difficult now to get the family back as they were all disappointed in the dining experience and I was embarrassed as I preach to family and friends how good this carvery is.The manager needs to experience this to understand its not moaning, well ok it is, but constructive criticism for them to be able to improve. We may give it a month then try again but if its not changed then we will start going to a local pub like the Manor or Corn Mill.

We went for dinner there about 2.30pm one Sunday afternoon and the food was poor and the tables were cluttered with plates that we cleared ourselves. The food was cold and raw. We decided to complain and the manager was very apologetic as it was the start of the season. He offered us a free meal next time if we came early as that was when it peaked. We weren't too bothered about going back but thought we would just to see if an hour and a half earlier made a difference. We were very surprised at our return as to how much better the food and service was. Compliments to the manager who has made us go back more regularly but they still need to maintain throughout the day and not just at the start.

Been here a few times for the Sunday Lunch. Its a bit different as it is all you can eat at a pretty cheap price. The food used to be okay and it was an enjoyable meal out however my last experience there means I will never go back.We booked a table, they didnt have the reservationStarters were okay but the carvery was the most disgusting thing I have ever seenHorrible joints of meat, I dont even know where you could buy such bad quality meatThe beef had chunks and i mean chunks of fat running through itThe potatoes were not cooked on the inside and greasy on the outsideThe mini sausages were not cooked at allSo fair enough everywhere has an off dayNo one came to ask us if our food was okay, no one came to clear our platesWhen we approached the front of house lady she could not have been more disinterestedWe listed out everything that we were not happy with and she did not look up onceI don't know whether she though we were time wasters or whether we were just the 100th people to complain. She then went to the till and printed a bill for the drinks we had, I gave her the money and again she did not even look at us when she handed over the change. Not one word of an apology for serving up a plate of food that literally made me gag.I have never been so amazed by someone's attitude and I will never eat here or again nor would I advise anyone else to.

We saw these prices and assumed it would be good quality. £25 for a rib steak which was tasteless is not good value. The onion rings were so soggy you could wring the grease out. Had to ask for a steak knife. The peppercorn sauce was very runny which, served on a flat wooden platter, is not a good move. Overall, the staff were polite. The price for 2 steaks and 2 cokes was just under £57. Expectation of the experience forms a large part of perception of value. Either the price needs to come down to something more reasonable or the quality and experience needs to raise significantly.

The food was very good with an early bird offer dining before 7pm you could choose a set menu with 1,2 or 3 courses that was very reasonably priced. After 7pm you could choose from the menu or opt for the two dine for £29 menu. Breakfast was a eat as much as you like full english with coissants and danish pastries etc.

We ate here a couple of times whilst staying at the hotel on a business trip. The service was excellent and the food was generally good - especially the deserts. The only exception was a tuna salad that was fairly inedible. The restuarant did have a decent atmosphere.
