The Broad Oak in Broxtowe

Visited again yesterday with my elderly parents and my family. Lovely warm welcome from Becky! She was extremely helpful in finding a nice table that had easy access for my dad. Thank you for your patience and kindness. Then it was lovely to see Rebecca again …it’s so nice when someone remembers you! The service was quick and the food fantastic as usual…and piping hot! Thank you so very much for looking after us, gratefully appreciated! This pub is hidden away from all the hustle and bustle…brill with lots of carparking. We hope to be back again soon.

This pub has such a lovely atmosphere. My husband and I went on a Sunday morning at 11:00ish and ordered some food. It was really nice and great value for money. We would recommend coming here for a nice chill lunch or dinner 🙂

Just want to say thanks for last night. We was outside under the brollys watching the thunderstorm. We was dry and warm with the brolly and heater. The staff were lovely. And then the flooding started so we moved inside at last minute. Great atmosphere still though even though the weather was crazy! 😁

Nice pub with friendly staff but the food was so average Just microwaved pre packed stuff not proper food! Ie the chicken on the Schwarma flatbread was heavily processed and I had expected fresh chicken breast. It was edible but I wouldn’t eat here again.

Food was nice apart from the peas. They were overcooked. Ashley offered to get us some fresh peas but there seemed no point as we'd nearly finished our meals. It's a great little place, although when we went, there were children running around, so that was a little off putting for my partner. All in all though, I'd go again.

Had the plain burger for lunch and boy was it plain! Looked and tasted like it had spent a week in the Sahara. When staff were informed they were not apologetic, just said they would tell the chef

Great pub, has a lovely atmosphere and beautiful gardens. The staff are all very welcoming. I love bringing my dogs along for a quick drink when we've used the local dog park as they're so pet friendly. Sam and Ash always make the effort to say hello to my dogs.

Very friendly and attentive staff. good atmosphere.....food very well cooked and presented... only downside was the long waits in between courses.... would definitely go again and recommend.

We popped into broad oak while visiting family. They were so friendly and welcoming. The beers were poured too perfection and the burgers we ordered....wow, jucee and full of flavours. All the staff didn't stop especially Nic she was boss!!! What a pleasure, we shall return!!! Thankyou

Absolutely fantastic since it's been taken over .Sam and ash the new landlady and landlord are such lovely welcoming people. Food was amazing very fresh. Everyone enjoyed the meals drinks was fab too will definitely be back more .the new staff are fantastic too x

We held a funeral wake there, which was a great success. The staff were really helpful when we came to discuss the booking. On the day Ash snd his staff were great. The buffet was hearty and delicious and received some wonderful remarks from the guests. All round, I would recommend this venue for a family party of any sort. They certainly made what could have been a difficult day for us into a joyful occasion that ran very smoothly.

Food is sublime and all the staff are top notch and friendly could highly recommend this place to anybody and everyone, thankyou for the lovely experience and hospitality

Nice lunch - fast service, decent pie!

Amazing venue, can’t thank Terryn enough for the amazing customer service. From the greeting through till when we left she was so accommodating. The interior is modern and lovely and the kids loved playing on the park outside. Value is very good and the quality of food and drinks is above pub standard.

Absolute breath of fresh air!! This place has come on leaps and bounds since the new management has come in! Managers are lovely and approachable and the food quality is great. Some really exciting events coming up at the pub which will be really great for the area. Il be back to being a regular again :)

Been here a few times and everytime I've been it's been absolutely lovely, the katsu chicken, rice and chips was very nice and tasty. Also went for lunch and had a chicken and bacon panini with skin on fries again really nice, meals are presented nice, and are a good amount.staff are very helpful and nice, plenty of seating inside and outside. We say outside as weather has been nice each time.. there is more seating right at back where there's a play area for children but you can only take drinks to that part, food seating is inside and out the front only.. out the front is plenty of benches under a massive lovely tree with wildlife and its nice and shady when sun is out.. plenty if space for wheelchairs.. would definitely recommend and we will be coming back

Went with family met Sam she was lovely the bar staff was friendly and there to help. We also meet Ashley who made us laugh. We all had different food which came out altogether and was very nice. It was all good and enjoyed by all xx

We had my mothering laws wake at the Broad Oak on Friday. All the Staff were lovely and the food was great. Everyone commented on how good the food was. Kieran the assistant manager ( now left for a new career ) The handover between Kieran and Ash was professionally done as nothing was missed. Marina set everything up the night before as she said she would. All we can say is all the staff went the extra mile for the Family on the day. Thank you to you all and I am sorry I cannot remember all the girls behind the bar by name but they did a Stirling job. The Broad Oak hold many great memories for all the family over the last 40 years. Good Luck to Ash and his family who have now taken over the Broad Oak and from our experience they will do a magnificent job.

Came with a couple of friends for the england game. Great atmosphere outside tv which is an added bonus. Amazing service from Ash and Sam behind the bar. Hot spicy chicken burger was fantastic

Groupon burger drink meal offer not understood by staff told to pay more money for all inclusive voucher swore at when till would not respond then burgers where so overcooked like charcole and response to our complaints totally ignored by same member of staff

Food was well below standard.orded my daughter a beef burger which came out over cooked and hard . Hunters chicken was like a ready meal and a member of staff was so rude also told couldn't eat food on the garden area

My friend Trisha and myself decided to have a wander in for a bite to eat. We fell in love with the place from the start. The landlord and wife were so welcoming, the food was amazing. We both had fish and chips, yummy 😋. Also the Eton mess was the best we have had anywhere. We are elderly, we're treated with utmost respect. Definitely will visit again as often as we can. A huge GOLD star 🌟 is merited from us two. And a closing comment top marks for the disabled toilet. Very important to me , they are not always as described, Broad Oak is not lacking in anything. Had a walk up today. Was in two minds to be honest as we've had some bad experiences in the past. I'm delighted to say the service was great, the food was great. We'll definitely be visiting again soon.

Getting better now cheers worth a visit

They were busy, so a bit of a wait. But busy indicates that people like it. Good quality ale on tap although a somewhat narrow range... although plenty of layers if that appeals to you.

Right first of all there were no burgers at ALL so that ruined my dinner! No sex on the beach cocktails, not enough forks and not enough knifes for a table of four, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt the staff were alright I suppose. I waited nearly 40 mins for my food. Overall I’ll give this place a 2⭐️. NOT HAPPY BROAD OAK NOT HAPPY. :(

Won't ever go back very disappointed. Booked a table went to order and was told 30mins wait wanted two fish and chips..... No fish. Went to pick something else and was then told 45mins wait. No sorry. Staff just didn't seem bothered.

Have been drinking in here for a long time now, have to say the new Manager is a disgrace to the Pub and to Greene King, have been in a few times now when he has been there drinking with family to the point where he is VERY drunk, staggering about not a good representation of The Broad Oak which is a beautiful little pub, apart from this all the other staff are fantastic but are all leaving, I wonder why.

Rude staff and over an hour wait just for dessert. Complete disaster. Went to the Broad Oak one evening after a walk. Just wanted to quickly nip inside for a dessert and non-alcoholic drink each (so three in total). We ordered at the bar and nobody said there would be a wait for food (albeit we weren’t even ordering a main meal, just three desserts). The drinks came quickly. However, one of the desserts was the ‘Mini Pudding & Hot Drink’ deal, so it was a surprise the drink came separately. After 20 minutes, our food hadn’t come so we asked at the bar and they said it was a 30 to 40 minute wait for food, as they were busy. Of course that’s a bit frustrating but these things happen so we weren’t too fussed. It just would have been good to know of the long wait before ordering. Either way, we hadn’t ordered any main meals; just a slice of dessert with a scoop of ice cream, so this shouldn’t really have taken that long anyway. After 45 minutes, nothing came so we asked again and the server was very rude but she eventually said they’d look into it. After 1 hour, one server walked past our table with one of our three desserts and tried to give it to the table next to us. The table said they hadn’t ordered it so the server left with the food. I did ask if it was for our table as we had also ordered that same item. She sighed, gave me an extremely dirty look and walked off ignoring me. We asked again if it was for us whilst she was walking off, and once she was out of view, she shouted “No”. 2 minutes later she returned back to our table saying it was actually our dessert - surprise, surprise! After 10 further mins, the other two deserts hadn’t come so we informed them we were still waiting for two more. The other server literally argued with us saying we only ordered one, which obviously wasn’t true. Eventually, she looked into it and the final two desserts were served. So they’d most likely forgotten about them. Had we not asked about it, we would’ve been waiting all day. When the final two desserts came, one of them was the completely wrong item. The other one came with strawberries instead of raspberries (hardly a big issue, but another thing to add to the catalogue of disasters). So we just ate them, as we didn’t want to risk having to wait another hour for them to fix it! So all in all, 3 desserts took almost 90 mins to arrive, 4 reminders and incredibly rude staff. Of course it must have been a busy day and the servers were stressed, but considering we were perfectly polite and not in any way unreasonable to them, it was a shock and also upsetting that they were so rude to us and even argued with us! And no matter how busy they were, a 90 minute wait and 4 reminders isn’t good enough for 3 simple desserts. If orders can’t be fulfilled in a reasonable timeframe, it would be sensible just to inform people of the long wait times before they order, or simply stop accepting orders to avoid disappointment. Fortunately, the food was very good when it did finally arrive and the server did (finally) give an apology once they’d served all of our food, which was a bit of a shock given their earlier behaviour. Unfortunately won’t be coming back.

Met with friends here for the first time. Ordered Hunters chicken. Not many chips, onion rings not really cooked and brown. The tiny piece of chicken with sauce was burnt with no juice in the bowl. The bacon burnt to a cinder. Quiz night. Couldn't have a conversation as the mike was far too loud. I regularly have a far better meal at Wetherspoons. Didn't order any alcohol as fearful of the prices. Won't be going again. Ever.

Traditional pub with fair value food.

Lovely Mother's day lunch. Mug on the table with chocolate which was a nice touch. Staff friendly and attentive. Area for dogs with treats and water. Loved the atmosphere wonderful

Lovely little afternoon dinner amongst the horses and doggies. Love this pub the bar staff are wonderful and the service is perfect. Great food and good prices.

Very nice meals the family were happy with there meals not too busy which was nice but we go early we definitely be popping in again hopefully in the near future

Warm welcome when entering and lovely gift on the table we reserved. Staff were all attentive and lovely atmosphere in this quaint pub. Sitting in the dog area lovely to see blankets treats and water for our four legged friends. If I had to give the final star it would have been food hotter. I can appreciate it's a busy day so would not make a fuss about that when everything else was perfect.

Returned again to celebrate Mother's day with my elderly parents and family. We were given a lovely table with plenty of space around. Although it was very busy we had excellent quick service, food was amazing and so fresh! Especially recommend the Katsu curry which was a first for the family to try but think all six of us would try next time!! A very special thank you to Rebecca who looked after us so well…you work so hard and have the most welcoming smile. Thank you to everyone that helped make the experience a fantastic one! We were not expecting much when we decided to pop in, but wow, what a great find. The atmosphere was very welcoming, the staff were very friendly and happy to help, we were served quickly and decided to have some lunch I had the sweet chilli chicken ciabatta and my husband the classic beef burger, both were delicious, really well cooked and presented. Great experience, and we will definitely return

This 1star review is aimed at Greene King,and not at The Broad Oak pub...l received a £5 off voucher via e-mail...It stated, this was off any spend over £15 and must include a main meal and drinks..As l ordered 2 main meals, it then became "An Offer"and the voucher wasn't applicable. The meal deal was actually advertised on the voucher e-mail. Having looked on a few web sites,this happens with several voucher offers sent out by Greene King..Do they think people are stupid enough to pay full prices to be able to usea £5 off voucher? Obviously so😡

Good value food, pleasant pub, nice location. Worth a visit.

I had fish and chips and rest of the party had gammon. Gammon was faultless however fish was quite small and I had around 8 chips which seems a bit tight given the higher price tag. Didn’t get a warm reception by the two young girls at the bar and had to wait ten minutes until I was acknowledged even though nobody else at the bar. Overall nice atmosphere and decent prices but must be more generous with portion sizes

Its still a green king pub but i walked there this afternoon 16/2/24 and it had a lovely pint the best 1 ive had there for a few years and good service aswell . Plus its very dog friendly.

The manager and staff are super helpful and care about the customers they serve. It's just such a shame that Greene King will not spend 1 penny on the inside of a grade 2 listed public house steeped in history and cater only for pubs that are on the large side. Everywhere is in need of a refurbishment and sadly not had one for around 17 years +

A pleasant suprise not been in for a while.

Unfortunately it was packed and very noisy, as it was a Saturday evening. Easy parking, efficient pleasant service, very good price for the meal. Hadn't visited for many, many years. Would go again, but maybe in the afternoon

Another nice option for the Greene King Seniors 3course meal deal.🙂.Great,out of the way,dog friendly location, with a large car park,outdoor seating& close to nice walks over the fields and pathways of Strelley, Swingate&Babbington. Along with other meal deals, veggie,& gluten free options,&great service, this a nice place to visit.

Me and my family came here on the 17jan had a booking for 12.15 we all had different meals very nice and got also had desserts which were also very nice. We try and come to the broad oak once a month with the family and we ve always been happy with the meals. Marina and Lucy were very helpful. Hopefully will be back soon thanks Sharon Spray

Since my last visit everything is back to normal now but still a great place to visit for a pint or to eat as the food is lovely and you can eat and drink inside or outside weather permitting ,staff are great,very helpful and friendly and large car park so all good 👍

Booked for 11 for a wake.. they had it down for 12 ,.. either way the doors were not open at 11 ,. The person behind the bar was rather rude because having to open "early" and was rude throughout service

We have had Christmas day dinner there today. Omg it was amazing!! The food was delicious and hot, plenty of it too! Service was cracking by all staff. A job well done guys. Thank you so much for a great afternoon. Merry Christmas to all.

Went here as it was our last day at work. we ordered our food, and the waitress brought out opposite tables, food they also offered our food to that table they said it wasn't there's so we said that might be ours but she chose to ignore us and took it back . 15mins later, they brought our food out it was COLD ,DRY, AND IT LOOKED DISGUSTING, so we sent it back .With no appologe from staff but a floor manager came out to see what the problem was .So we explained ,the food came out again, and some of it was better, but some was still cold . While we were eating, not one member of staff came over to ask if we were OK with our food, It was a shame as it is a nice quant and cosy place to go . Probably staff not experienced enough .

Me and my family came here on 18 Dec for our Xmas meal really had a good time all enjoyed it the only downside was that the carrots and Brussels were a bit hard to eat but we still had a good time and the service was very good we have been here quite a few times on different occasions and have always enjoyed our meals hopefully we'll be coming back soon in the new year

We have met here a couple of times before Staff were very friendly and food good. Very generous portions of katsu curry. Some pubs now days seem very cold, maybe can't afford the heating on but it was a pleasure to be comfortable and warm.

We went on 1st December for our Christmas 🎄 party the food came out in good ti.e and it was nice and hot. The services was good the team was very friendly.

We came in on Monday for a meal, it was simply brilliant we food was cooked fresh and it arrive hot, I simple couldn’t moan at all it was just brilliant, the beer pie was backed with a good amount of filling with the pie crispy but soft in the middle that how a pie should be, I should be the lasagna was really good with salad and garlic bread. Marina and Lucy was just fantastic bar ladies, they made us laugh and feel welcome they was just really good We don’t live near there but will be back when we come back to Nottingham will recommend to anyone
