We had fish and chips on a Friday. Lovely staff. Quick service and the food was lovely.

Quite literally across the road from my previous review of The Charlton Arms is The Cadland, another large 'pub' that, unlike the Charlton Arms, appears to have given itself over fully to dining. Whilst I am traditionally no fan of places that masquerade as pubs despite blatantly being 99% restaurant, I was nevertheless impressed with the Cadland. Its surrender to dining has ensured the interior is attractive, warm, and welcoming, and the staff all have that extra bit of polish that passes for sincerity in the hospitality trade. As with my visit to The Charlton Arms, this was during my working day, and so I opted for tea. £1.29 got me a decent sized pot for one, along with one of those little Lotus biscuit things, which I thought was very good value for money. There were lots of booths for me to choose from (again, it was about 12:45pm) and I plonked myself down comfortably and remained there about an hour. The place is welcoming, the staff are friendly  the drinks are reasonably priced, and the food menu did look appealing. I will give it a go one evening, as I intend to return.

The food was lovely & plentyful. My partner had steak, he wasnt happy with it. They quickly rectified it and made a fresh one and couldnt apologise enough. My lasagne was yummy

Employ grown up and non rude and non attitude staff who aren't like 12 years old. Stop serving rubbish frozen food when you are charging like £14 per course. Re print your menus that actually speak the truth about what we are paying for and stop misleading customers with prices and "deals". Don't put fires on in the lounge area when it's 15 degrees outside.

Made very welcome and our table was in a quiet corner as requested when I booked.

The best place to go for breakfast I think. Friendly staff especially Abbie Norman and Liam the manager. Food is always hot and good offers on there app. I go most Saturdays mornings for brunch lovely.

Great place, normally in to drink - the bar staff are great Abbi, Norman, Kelly, Maizie, Briony and the rest. Also when I have eaten here the foods been good shout out to kitchen staff.

The food is excellent both on the main menu and the breakfast one. Great service and the staff are lovely.

I opted for the lamb curry on a Wednesday. Unfortunately, I received a watery soup, with onions, chillies and I needed a microscope to find any lamb. I understand that times are hard and lamb is dear, but if that is the case, I would suggest not having it on the menu. I left disappointed and hungry.

Lovely and warm.with the fires on. Great atmosphere, and friendly staff made this a perfect visit. Only sad I didn't have room for desert after the mixed grill.....🤣🤣

It was, overall, a good experience. The food just didn't meet expectations on this occasion.

Great service, food great. Cozy and always a lovely atmosphere, staff can't do enough for you it was warm and inviting. The real fire is a added bonus lovely to walk Into when it's awful weather outside

I have eaten here loads over the years and have also received food via Uber delivery..in either case the food was great and the staff were happy to make adjustments to my order when required

The only things needed at the cadland is REFURBISHMENT inside . This pub has been a local for at least 100 years my grandparents went my parents and we have been going in for 50 years . I have never seen it so run down . The staff are amazing but the locals who remain loyal deserve better . It’s ok attracting business with meal offers last but the surroundings are very poor .

Meal poor at best, if I hadn’t been so hungry the burger would have gone back.

We had ham egg and chips the ham was salty also loads of fat on it that put me off

I have visited the Cadland fairly regularly over the last 2 years for lunch with family. After a short break I visited with family again today. The food, as usual, was good quality pub grub, hot, and served without too much of a delay. The staff were friendly and the pub comfortable and warm. My only criticism is the coffee- a good cup of freshly made coffee makes or breaks a good meal for me. The Cadland has a good coffee making machine, using fresh beans, but their coffee over time has become weaker and weaker. My Americano today was so weak I could see the bottom of the cup- like drinking bitter water. The accompanying Smarties were as welcome as ever! Please don’t be so stingy with the coffee, Cadland, otherwise a great experience.

I visited with my partner and children on Wednesday, the service and the food was excellent thank you very much. The lady (Kelly) serving us was fantastic. Will be returning again soon🤙🏽

They have nothing for vegetarians. There are 6 dishes on the vegetarian and vegan menu and only one is labelled as veggie and that has vegan cheese. I have voiced my concerns via online feedback and in person . However, it is obvious that no one is listening. Since the introduction of vegan menu vegetarians have been left behind. Cadland used to have one of the best vegetarian menus and now they have one of worst. I will have to take my custom elsewhere which is a shame as the pub has a lovely atmosphere

Lovely pub, great staff, always clean and tidy. The vegan options leave a lot to be desired but I hope this will improve with time.

Six of us were treated well, although the table booking app let us down, I think. Maybe an online booking should receive a confirmation message, well it would help. As it was, we were found a table. The meals we had were fine and the staff very attentive to our needs. A good menu with set meal deals available as well.

Been here afew time's over the year's if for food or just afew drinks can't say anything bad about this place. The food is good for the price especially the breakfasts and they even open at 10am on Saturday's and Sunday's for breakfast. The place is more for the older generation and families which is nice. The staff are very polite and friendly can't fault this place one bit

Had our late Christmas ladies meal here today,21 of us ! Meals were excellent and the service was exceptional considering how many of us. We have booked another for June!

Rump steak was a very cheap cut and too chewy to eat.. waitress did not come and check m als were ok

The burger I had was a bit dry. The place is alright, I only went for a family food.

The Sunday dinners were ordered and brought out within a reasonably quick time. They were not hot by any standard, the veg appeared to have been on the plate for some hours under a heat lamp. Not one member of staff came back to us to ask if our food was alright. Infact, the staff were thin on the ground, to say that the pub was not busy. Very very disappointed in the quality of the dinners, we will not eat there for a good while. Almost £40 and we were both very dissatisfied.

Haven’t visited The Cadland for a while but decided after a hospital visit to go for an early dinner. I had the gammon and egg which was delicious washed down with a New Zealand Sauvignon. The whole experience was first class. I look forward to returning.

Best nachos ever!! Edit: nachos WERE nice, now they are serving something that looks like coming from Supermarket. Just disappointing.

They were extremely busy but communication was good, service was as quick as could be expected and the staff were lovely.

Was so good. Staff were amazing, the place was absolutely rammed, but there were no delays in serving my party of 13 with the meals or drinks orders

Paid £60.00 pp for a table of 5 on Christmas Day, starter took 1hr to bring out as did the main course, in total dinner took 3hr. Terrible service, have forwarded their details to kitchen nightmares, you’ve had 365 days to get 1 day right, food was warm not hot as it sat under heat lamps so long.

We went for Christmas dinner however we had to wait over an hour for our first course, another hour for the second course, and we asked for our dessert as soon as the main arrived so we didn’t have to wait another hour. My mother in law is 85 and was sat in her wheelchair for over 3 hours which is not on! Why did we have to wait so long for our food! The food wasn’t even hot and I only ate it all was because I was so hungry waiting for it!

We had our firms Christmas do here on Thursday ,it was great ,the food was great the staff are so helpful and the drinks are reasonable,we all enjoyed it ,to serve food to a party of 25 all together is pretty good going I reckon ,thanks

Food really well cooked, lovely staff and a great Christmas quiz!

Sadly the main traditional ale ran out necessitating a pump clean out (just one of those things), however the meal was very disappointing for my guest who ordered a rib of meat. What came was a large rib with a small amount of meat around it which appeared sad and truly cremated, set in a plate of tired looking veg and chips. The most unappetising meal I have ever seen. It was reminiscent of post mortems of human bodies cremated in fires resulting from fatal accidents which I have been obliged to investigate on a number of occasions. After some discussion it was taken away and replaced with something else bland and cheaper. A shortage of staff to prepare meals didn't help and inevitably we had to consume our meal whilst my guest was forced to wait for the alternative. All in all an embarrassing experience for me.

First class friendly service BUT very disappointed no salad. Not too difficult to send someone out to a local supermarket to buy some.

Just had the worst Festive meal .Prawn cocktail consisted of 6 king prawns a few mixed lettuce leaves ,sauce and slice of bread and butter.The main meal of steak ,couldn't get the steak knife to Cut it and the chips were reheated dry .No brandy sauce for the Christmas pudding but the ice cream and pudding were very good . Disappointing to say the least.

Nice surroundings and food that exceeded my expectations. I've had a drink here on several occasions and always found it a cosy and relaxing place. This is the first time that I've eaten there as there wasn't much choice for vegans previously but now the is a good selection. I had a sweet potato and apricot chutney tart followed by billionaire shortbread slice. All very nice and of a higher quality than I was expecting. The rest of my group (non-vegans) also enjoyed their meals.

Second time of visiting, last time it was wonderful, great food, really well organised and a good atmosphere. There was a lady who seemed to be organising things and it worked really well, everyone in our party commented on how well things had gone and had enjoyed it. Tonight’s visit was a shambles . Food ordered and waited 1 hr and 10 minutes for it to arrive. When ordering was ask do we want to wait for everyone or as it’s cooked and I said as it’s cooked as some would be arriving later and we didn’t want to wait. Other people came in ordered after we had ordered and were served long before we got ours , one couple had even eaten there’s and left before we got ours. Now we were told after ordering there was a delay as a member of staff had not come in . That’s fair enough these things happen but when they blatantly serve others before someone else who was first then that is out of order. Apologies just don’t work when you can see before your own eyes others getting the same food before you. The 3/5 was for the food as was ok. The service needs some attention and a management presence would help too. Sorry you have lost a good group of customers

Was busy but food came out and was a lovely meal. Staff really friendly . Enjoyable evening

We had booked a table for 18:30 we arrived at 18:25 to be greeted by a sign on the door saying that due to staff shortages the kitchen will be closing at 19:00 we walked in and there was a queue of people waiting to order food, there was already people sat at the table that was clearly reserved for us. So we left and went elsewhere. The most annoying part is that there was no contact from the pub about the early closure of the kitchen, even though my phone number is requested when booking and also I received an email reminding me of my booking.

Pub looking a bit like it needs a refurb. It also still lets LOUD groups of men eff and blind plus other unrepeatable words and get drunk without anyone reminding them that there are other people in the place who likes to eat their meal in peace. This obviously goes unchecked because of the amount they spend, obviously regulars. I would like your feedback on this. The meals were ok and typical pub fare. Service good from kitchen and bar. Not a place i will rush back to I'm afraid.

The chicken wing starter is to die for and I had the Mac n Cheese. There were 5 of us in our party and we all loved the food. The staff are lovely and friendly and make you feel very welcome.

We sat down at a table around 2pm, then at 4:15pm a bar maid came over and put a notice on our table saying ‘this table is booked from 5pm’ so basically kicking us off our table in 45 mins, I was like excuse me we’ve been here for two hours and was planning on getting some food? Sent email complaining and I’ll copy and paste the passive-agressive, couldn’t care less response 😂 “Hello Tris, thanks for getting in touch. I am unsure what it is that you’re unhappy about? We like the majority of eateries allow bookings on all our tables, this is a company wide policy. Our team came over and explained the table was booked for the evening session in plenty of time, and as you say you could have moved to another table if you wished to. We don’t put reserved signs out for evening bookings at 2pm as this would also put people off using the tables, and garner criticism. From what you have described our team followed the booking policy and politely informed you of a reservation. I’m not sure what else we could have done. Kind Regards, The Cadland Team“

Ordering off uber eats, you get the burnt pigs in blankets and 1 tiny bit of broccoli? Surely you don't get that when you actually go in for food.

Six of us went one evening and we all had a good night. I had Chicken Wings and Ribs, it was lovely. Nice and hot and not too long to wait. I suppose it would depend on what time you went though.

Whent in for Sunday Lunch. The Lunch was superb. Liam and the team in the kitchen did a great job and the lunch was delicious. Bryony,Abi and Shannon did a great job of looking after us. Overall a nice experience and great value for money.

The Cadland is really popular with locals, and it's easy to see why. Chilled atmosphere and great food at good prices. I had the gammon and eggs, and the gammon had a wonderful flavour cooked on the grill. My partner had the posh fish and chips - the sea bass was cooked to perfection, though he could have done with more chips to balance out the fish to chips ratio. We've been a few times and will be back again.

Nice servers, but use a terrible 3rd party app for allergens that's all but useless.
