Had a lovely lunch here today. Service is alway good and today was no different. Vera took care of us during this visit and did not disappoint. He was so polite and a real pleasure to deal with. Great sense of humour. Looking forward to my next visit.

Standards seem to have slipped massively. Three breakfasts today came out cold and the last few times I’ve visited the quality just hasn’t been there yet the prices have gone through the roof. Hopefully will be back in the future but for now it’s to the queens head

Awful! Mother's Day meal cooked without ANY love whatsoever! Slapped on a plate - tiny "bottom of the bag" "roast" potatoes....stuffing like concrete...absolute load of rubbish! Disgusting food - will NEVER go here again!! Should be shut down! Robbed for over 40 quid!

On entry straight away there was a warm cosy feel. I had fish and chips which was awesome and my wife had an amazing Sunday roast which she continously raved about. Excellent customer service from Vera who was helpful thought-out the evening and asking how our mother's day had been which was very nice. Highly recommended 👌

So disappointed today! I took my Mum there for Mother’s Day and we both had roast beef. To start there was hardly any food on the plate, the bit of veg on there was so hard it was virtually raw, the stuffing almost broke our teeth and I’m not sure what happened to the ‘duck fat roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary’ because all we were served was some small hard remnants of what appeared to be overcooked dregs of a bag of frozen ones! The best part was the Yorkshire and gravy, but I had to order a side portion of mash (£1.50) for a small scoop which is outrageous!!! I’m sure when we visited last time we also had mash and parsnips. I don’t expect to pay almost £40 and come away still hungry. I appreciate that your kitchen is busier than usual but this meal was clearly dished out without any care involved. Sadly we won’t be returning again. I just wish I had taken my Mum to a carvery as this spoilt her special day. 😢

Fish n chips was bootiful n the staff vry accommodating. It was busy but nothing was too much trouble. Situated in a nice area with plenty of outside seating with countyside views. Lovely pub atmosphere, we always have an enjoyable experience on every visit, with great food and very friendly staff. Area for dogs too. Well worth a visit.

came here with a few friends after a few reccomendations, never been before so thought id give it a go. there were 4 of us so didnt think to book, although with how busy it seemed to be in the evening i think booking would of been safer. However we were greeted upon arrival and shown to a table straight away, which is fantastic, and considering we haddnt pre booked a table that was even better. we were given menus and asked if we would like to order any drinks while we decided what we wanted to eat. The venue itself had a great atmosphere, full of people talking and having a great time, definetly has a nice homely/cosy vibe to it. the menu has a reasonable amount of options inc veggie and vegan options, which is always nice to see. I ordered the Squid starter and a Chicken skewer. the food was delicicious, and came out pretty promptly considering the amount of people that were also dining. throughout every step our table was visited by pleasant and smiling staff who couldnt do enough for us, which is always a great thing to see! especially nowadays where most pub/resturant staff just dont seem to care. upon leaving we were all wished a pleasant evening by all the staff which in my experience you very rarely get these days, which just adds to the whole experience. I have to say i will be definetly visitng again soon!

Shocking meal 🤢🤮 we had the sharer. Chicken was cold and slimy and the onion rings were harder than bricks. Definitely do not recommend this place! Please don't respond and say I hope you'll give second chance.....no chance!

Not really the quality of food I expected , it looked and tasted more akin to a cheap Wetherspoons meal. I really like this place, the pub has a lovely homely ambiance to it and the staff are very welcoming and friendly, but the food is very hit and miss .

Came here with my wife for Tuesday lunch. We had not booked, but were immediately seated. We ordered the camembert sharing starter. Very nice, although a couple more pieces of bread would have been nice. I had the lunch time fish and chips, which was very nice indeed, and my wife had the steak and ruddles pie. The first pie had a VERY hard crust. We informed the waitress who quickly took the plate away and came back after a short while with a new plate. This pie crust was much better. However, both pies were a little lacking in steak.

This used to be a great place to eat, but after a few failed visits we have decided not to eat here anymore. Every time we go, they either mess our order up or several things missing from the menu. Tonight, no chicken or burgers was then told to hold fire. I have sent someone to another pub to get some! Really!! Where was this pub. Decided to pick something else, I had a salmon fillet, and my partner had a steak sandwich, which was very dry. We left, saying never again time to find a new eatery. Sorry, Horse and Groom, but you had several chances.

My husband, adult grandchildren and I had our Christmas dinner there yesterday. It was fantastic! The dinner was lovely - the yorkshire puddings were amazing! As always, the staff members were great and the atmosphere was welcoming and lively. Sincere thanks to Anthony and his team!

I think it would be fair to expect something much better when I am spending around £70 . The fish was nothing like you would get from any local chip shop and my wife’s scampi was cold . And this after waiting about a hour to be served our food.. I have had much better for much less locally. Very overrated and overpriced

At best the food was poor. The venue is stunning and the staff are attentive but very overworked but the food is the missing element and needs sorting quickly. Been twice in the space of 4weeks and each time I’ve been disappointed with the food. Really glad we couldn’t get in for Christmas Day lunch. (Tried to book prior to eating there, narrow escape ).

Awful meal. Steaks were dry and cremated when asked for Medium Rare and were stone cold. A few chips and a pathetic burnt onion ring. Truly awlful!!

Well today was a real let down. The food is usually fabulous and we were so looking forward to our Christmas Dinner. It was lukewarm, under seasoned and the turkey felt like it had been pumped up and the sensation when eating it was like eating jelly. The only thing that had any taste was the stuffing. No mash just one and a half squashed roasties and veg that was rock hard, plus a flat Yorkshire. Sorry but we didn't enjoy the food this time.... The staff are lovely and friendly .

Sorry will not visit this pub again I had a small mixed grill of the lunch menu just luke warm the sausage wasn't cooked had to leave it and they forgot to put the egg on the gammon they had run out of most the wine that was asked for and then at the end very limited on the puddings and this was Thursday dinner and to cap it all I was overcharged so sorry a very unpleasant first visit

I had work team Xmas lunch here. It was good overall. Food was good, service was good. Ample parking outside. Can't quite give it full marks as it lacked that finesse. But NO real complaints and I would definitely come back.

This is a cute little pub with a lovely atmosphere and the service was excellent, food v good. We're we a large group and the staff managed the service for a 3 course meal brilliantly, we all enjoyed it..

There is a reason this place is so busy because the food is simply amazing. Service was a little on the slow side but when your bar and every table is full the speed was still pretty impressive. I ordered the steak sandwich which was beautifully presented and a dish to die for. I asked for it medium rare it it was closer to medium however still very tender and well prepared. For the price it is it felt like a steal. Would 100% go back again.

Very disappointed my arrived cold, the replacement took 25 minutes to arrive after my friends and family had finished their meal. The replacement meal was missing two items from the original meal, but I couldn't wait any longer for a further replacement.

Went for a works Christmas meal here and it was delicious! All the staff were very friendly & welcoming, wasn’t waiting too long for food either. Would definitely come here again!!

Really sad to say the 3 coarse Xmas experience wasn't good as a recent visit before that for normal menu was excellent all round.The Xmas experience was long waits (approx 50 minutes per coarse)actual Xmas roast wasn't nice.questionable fresh turkey??very very thick gravy(almost set)very hard Yorkshire pudding & no stuffing.also a strange taste&texture on roast potatoes.an Xmas works lunch so very disappointing.

First visit with work colleagues arrived earlier than expected wasn't a problem very friendly staff great food excellent service wasn't rushed to leave .

Went in the evening and the service was slow due to being busy and short staffed. The food was not what I expected. The tiger prawns were lovely but the toasted bread had not been toasted, a hunters chicken came with no bacon and 2 onion rings. When we asked for the bill we waited for 15 minutes with no joy. We then went to the counter to pay and it was still another 10 mins. Was very close to walking out and not paying. Compared to pre-covid, this was appalling. The saving grace was that the staff were friendly and engaging.

We went with a family friend for lunch yesterday. The Sunday roast was OK, but could have been better. The stuffing was missed off my plate completely. My friend ordered a gravy boat on the side and her dinner came flooded with gravy so that had to be sent back. Also, regarding the trio of roasts, the beef was delicious, the pork was hard as nails, (and so were the garlic roast potatoes too) and the turkey was just slices of smoked turkey from some delicatessen warmed up. Also, there was not an option to pay an additional charge for a portion of mashed potato, and instead of the usual bowl of pigs in blankets (like Vintage Inns offer) there was an option of 1 pigs in blankets for £1.89! Sorry Mr Greene Inns but if you are going to be selling your Trio of Meats on a Sunday roast at the same price as Vintage Inns, you really need to up your game!

Firstly whatever money James is on he's not on enough, friendly and great service! The food however was lacking, some of the starter portions were very small but the worst thing was the steak. A lot of the other mains looked okay but I had to send my medium rare steak back because it was basically jerky. The second one was only slightly better. I'd say don't gloat about your steaks unless you can actually cook them.

Went for a Saturday lunch. Had the Garlic Cheese Ciabatta, Mushroom and Spinach & the Camembert Sharer as starters. All really really tasty! At our table we had - a ribeye steak & two portions of the chargrilled pork ribs - there was an error with my order but the way it was handled was so professional that it didn’t hamper our experience at all. James, the manager was really attentive & helpful & resolved the error swiftly. Will be back again.

Excellent friendly staff. Great range of guest beers on tap. Brain Clough beer from Castle Rock is a Pilsner-style pale ale which was one of the guest beers on tap. Lots of seating outside and a large car park to the rear of the pub. Dog friendly. Lots of good walking routes including Moorgreen Reservoir nearby.

Went for a 70th birthday party, The food was amazing, service was fantastic and the food was very well presented. very reasonably priced. Will be making the 40mls round trip again soon. Thank you for looking after us.

I've been coming here a lot recently with different sets of friends. The menu tends to suit us all, with veggie, traditional pub and lunch options etc. Service is usually fine and polite. The food doesn't take too long. I personally miss the halloumi fajitas...

4 of us , got one order wrong and one was incomplete , dessert was very poor , ice-cream was just a blob and the last dessert came out after everyone else had finished eating, won't be going back
