Lovely pub, the food smelt gorgeous, we are definitely going to try it when we visit again

Great place to have a drink and a meal

Usually very good food Sadly served two very overcooked meat pies today. The meat was hard and dry and the pastry charred. At £60 for 3 main courses, two non alcoholic drinks and a cider, not a cheap lunch. As we had a guest, it didn’t feel appropriate to make a fuss but did tell the server the issue. Such a shame as we had spoken highly of your food. I think it will be sometime before our next visit.

Lovely pub, lovely staff, lovely food. Love that it’s dog friendly, and fresh water is available for them, overall it’s great.

Friendly pub with great food. Yes there is a wait for the food but it is proper home cooked style food and you certainly get your monies worth

Had a bowl of chips here with my soda water and lime, excellent. Was quiet when I arrived which was pleasant, but later became busy and noisy so decided it was time to go. Kindly female staff member who was busy doing food orders, serving drinks and clearing tables in and outside whilst her male colleague was inactive. Thankyou

Went for a meal on a Sunday evening. Nice table in the window. Ordered the food at the bar, no problem. I had steak and stilton pie. When the pie arrived it was so dry you could not eat it. At no point during the meal did any member of staff come and ask if everything was OK. When they come to collect the plates later still no question even though the pie had hardly been touched. When I went to pay the bill i mentioned about not being asked about the food and was told. Once you have started your food nothing can be done about it. ( how do you know if the food is any good till you try it) The next bit is the best. I was then told that lots of people like the food so if you don't go somewhere else. I then asked to speak to the manager only to be told by the young man i was talking to that he is the manager. If that is the way they treat customers it does not look good for the pub. It is a shame because it is a nice pub but living on past reputation. I did try to contact the owner but was told by the manager that he was not able on several occasions.

A group of 14 of us went for dinner. Preorder was required and duly placed. On arrival, the staff were very pleasant and friendly, showed us to our table and once we were all there, so was our food! (Within about 15 minutes or so) Excellent service, lovely food and great value. We will definitely return, thank you

Called in for a lunch time meeting.

I came here with my family and the food was amazing. The pie was home made and delicious. The staff were very busy but also very helpful. It’s 10/10 from us.

Good pub food in a nice location

Excellent traditional pub with great food and beers.

We came here for Sunday lunch, after a long break. Good service and tasty food. The chips were well above the average pub fare. The chilli was quite mild, but nicely flavoured. The pie was good and the portions suitable. What's not to like?

Was looking forward to visiting as always busy but have to say the food was awful and left. Pie obviously left and reheated in microwave, gammon very salty and dry. Complained and reply.....is it sarcasm. Afraid wouldn't recommend.

This is a lovely traditional English pub,it has a good selection of real ale's,larger's ,wines and spirits. The food is amazing Best fish and chips I've ever had the steak and ale pie is amazing .The service was professional and friendly lovely bar staff.Great garden and play area for the kids.Nice atmosphere not many pubs like this left!!👍🍻

Lovely pub. But the meal was basically poor and overpriced. The pie had no sauce and the meat was dry and microwaved. Not much more than a tablespoon of peas! Such a shame as had heard good things

Ordered a tuna baugette came with home made chips and side salad presented well, just a shame the baugette was a hot dog bun and not a bagette other than that happy

The place has lovely ambiance staff is good but we entered in afternoon barely there was one table we ordered gammon steak and peppercorn chicken The gammon steak was very very salty had it felt like they soaked and marinated the steak with only salt nothing else and chips not even cooked properly in the gammon steak only salt rest all there is no salt at all in anything worst food I ever had the pepper corn chicken was alright ,when we called the waiter and said the gammon steak was not eatable too salty he didn't bothered and rude . When I had bite of steak and called the waiter it's not good he was like just okay I asked him to talk to the chef and I try to make it better he was like if I replace you have to pay another steak price paying extra or paying for food it's not the matter ,the thing you charged 14:50 ,that was not good ,you shld have minimum hospitality etiquette to solve the the issue but you guys failed , Really disappointed guys ,,,,

Amazing food drinks and service.

Visited at 6.30 in a Saturday and it was packed. Fortunately we’d reserved a table. We both had fish and chips which was a huge portion. The fish was ok, not a great deal of taste. Wine was £15 a bottle which was reasonable. Staff were all very polite. What spoilt it was the ladies toilets. The smell was absolutely disgusting and in much need of a refurb. Will I visit again? I very much doubt it.

Been here several times and it never fails to impress. Two had fish and chips, one brisket baguette and one the burger. 2 fish were beautiful, baguette was amazing but burger just got an OK. I'll have the baguette next time if it's on special that's for sure. I do think the toilets could do with checking regularly though, they weren't that clean. Not going to Mark you down for that, But will defo go again as the food shop good

Nice Food, Friendly Staff. A little cramped inside if busy and the outside covered area could do with a clean. Downside was despite not being too busy on a Friday lunchtime the wait for food was nearly an hour.

Took my grandson, who needed changing while we were there. When we ask where baby changing was, we were told they did not have any. Best they could offer was toilet floor. In toilets that were grim. Safe to say we won't be going back. Shame because service and food were ok.

Very disappointed, I went to the resurant last summer with my daughter had fish & chips, went back this week it was awful the resurant itself looked very dirty carpets were sticky and worn toilets were the same had fish & chips mushy peas the fish was dry the outside eating area was dirty with last night's food on the floor we won't be returning.

Oh dear, what's happened to the Queens's Head? Always so dependable for good food and value for money, especially the fish and chips and steak and ale pie. But on our last two visits, (both this month), we have left feeling very disappointed. For the second time there was no steak and ale pie. So second choice of Lasagne - "sorry, no lasagne", third choice two Barnsley Chops, a little underwhelming in size and not quite what is normally associated with this cut of lamb, one was also a little on the tough side. The third substitute dish - home cured ham and eggs -very generous serving of ham but the eggs were definitely undercooked and 'slimey'. One of the party had fish and chips but for the second time this failed to live up to expectations, disappointing in size and taste. The spare ribs however were good as was the Tuscan chicken. But all were served with chips that were only just warm, soggy and looked as though they had been kept under a warming light for an hour. Three desserts, very generous chocolate fudge cake and ice-cream went down a treat but treacle sponge dry and lacking treacle. Come on, QH, we know you are better than than this. Get it sorted.

New to the area we attempted to contact pub/restaurant by phone on a warm Saturday afternoon and no-one would pick up so we chanced a visit and was glad that we did. Loads of space indoors and out, excellent friendly staff, great atmosphere, a good selection of 'beers' and the food that we had was also very good. We will be returning for more

Today, the 12th of June, we have had a great meal at the Queens Head. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. It was one of the best fish and chips I have had for a while. The Gammon and Egg was equally as good.

Excellent meeting place with 11 other friends for lunch. Very clean. Meals excellent. Served in a timely fashion. Attentive young staff. Will definitely go back.

Went for lunch today .....absolutely shocking ,ordered 3 meals which came out 5 minutes later which tells me food is not cooked fresh( most probably microwaved) fish inside batter half thr size kids chicken nuggets ( chicken had dried up inside) terrible and for prices being charged it is not value for money .askd for an highchair , it wad that caked I nfood the front would not adjust.customer service wasn't much h better eithet

Fantastic food good pint definitely going again

This is an excellent place to eat. As a group of 9 we were unsure if we would be able to sit together as we hadn't booked. We were shown into a little snug just the right size for our group. The two young men who served us could not have been more helpful and never once made us feel rushed even though they were very busy. The food was excellent, from huge battered fish, slow cooked belly pork and poached cod, to a ham baguette served with chips and salad, everything was fresh, piping hot and plentiful. Apparently the ham is cooked on the premises and those who had it said it was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend The Queens Head, Watnall as a place to eat.

Very nice garden, with plenty of tables. Dogs allowed on a lead. Small food selection, but tasty.

Good food and very friendly atmosphere

Such a lovely little place, the staff are very friendly and the food is lovely, it's also very cosy inside. The only thing I would say is there are no baby changing facilities but they did let us use a remote alcove with some comfy seats to change our baby while we were there.

As a group of ex-colleagues, we've been meeting up here about 4 times a year on a Monday night for at least 10 years. The food has never disappointed and we've always stayed for the fun quiz afterwards. We've always booked a table in advance as it's a busy night. Last night was our first visit of the year, the table was pre-booked, the food was enjoyed, and we were ready for the quiz. And there ended our night - we were asked to leave as the table was needed for a group of quizzers who sit there every week! Apparently we had only booked for a meal, the table was somebody else's for the quiz. This we were told has been the system for at least a year! Nothing has ever been mentioned about this and nothing was said when we made the booking. We asked if next time we could book for both and were told it wouldn't be likely as the same groups book out the tables for the quiz. Despite paying around £100 for our drinks and food we were no longer welcome, even though we've done this for years. It appears that unless you're in the local clique, pay for a beer and have a free sandwich, your custom is not wanted on a Monday. However, I'm sure you'll be welcome on other nights when business is slow and they need your custom. We will be taking ourselves elsewhere from now on. Another pub in the area know how badly the Queen's Head treat their customers and have welcomed us to theirs instead.

There isn't a plate large enough to fit the fish on. Good for eating outdoors in summer. Very confined but quirky bar area.

Had a lovely meal with family celebrating our mum's 91st Birthday. The food was beautiful and there was more than enough, very generous portions.

Lovely place for home cooked food

Just wow. 11 of us came here after a funeral. The second time we've been here for this reason. Once again, excellent service and food. Portions are huge and delicious. Staff very friendly and accommodating. If you go, the fish and chips are amazing. Defo going again, hopefully for a happy reason next time

We had a lovely Friday lunch cooked to order but which came in good time. My fish, chips and mushy peas were really tasty. The fish was enormous, chips were chip shop quality and a generous amount of peas always helps.

I had their special mango chicken. Shockingly bad. A piece of chicken plonked on mango chutney (Not sauce as described) shoved in the oven. Pathetic side salad. The home made chips kind of saved it. But its easy to make chips isn't it.

Lovely traditional pub with open fire. Very friendly welcome. The food was exceptional, can highly recommend it.

First time tonight food OK but actually shoved in a snug area 4 of us and couldn't actually sit round the table properly to eat not impressed won't be returning
