Got a one star as I can’t leave zero Been coming here every Sunday since November my first point is the young person behind the bar never says please or thank you took all his time to serve me tonight. 2nd point is and this is why we stopped coming for a while Is when the staff know you are drinking a certain drink why do they put it in line clean ? I know it’s Wetherspoon put service is key

Stopped by here for a meal and a pint lovely staff food was ok but they do a great Guinness nice sunny beer garden as well 👍🏻

Came on a Saturday so we expected it to be busy, clearly management didn’t. the wait on food on the app said food 20 mins and drinks 30 which we didn’t mind, ordered food at 12:05, food didn’t arrive until 1pm, I ordered a medium rare steak, it came well done, dry as hell and my partners fish and chips were so cold. The manager was swearing at customers, a customer on the table next to us said he needed to wash his mouth out with soap and the manager said “get out you’re barred” no apology, no sympathy, just because a customer told him his language was unprofessional and unacceptable. I have the most sympathy for the staff, having to work like this with a manager like that. There was one waiter on, one bar maid and a chef was taking out food and clearing tables bless them, either a manager accepted too much time off or all workers called in sick. Having worked in hospitality for 3 years and I understand the stress but the manager could have gone about the problems differently.

Nosotros como familia numerosa siempre hemos apoyado este pub desde que abrió, sin embargo el servicio aquí ha ido masivamente cuesta abajo en los últimos dos años, nunca se sabe exactamente lo que va a obtener, si pide algo con unos pocos ingredientes, no se moleste, porque saldrá con la mitad de los ingredientes que faltan, la comida a menudo está fría, no puede culpar al personal de espera o bar como lo están haciendo g un trabajo difícil con tener que lidiar con la cocina. Desafortunadamente ahora llegamos al personal de la cocina, parece que están enviando comida independientemente de si tienen los ingredientes básicos, incluso más molesto es como si estuvieran teniendo una fiesta en la cocina, tanto ruido que viene de allí, absolutamente no hay necesidad de ello, como dije, ha estado entrando aquí desde que abrió y nunca tuvo un problema antes. Tan triste que este pub ha ido tan mal cuesta abajo últimamente y no hay señales de que alguien realmente se las arregle, siempre ha sido nuestro lugar pero con tantos problemas, creo que podría ser hora de seguir adelante, como otros lo han hecho. Creo que es hora de que tengas las 'armas grandes' en ahora Wetherspoons y ordenar su personal de cocina, tanto ich jugando por ahí en este momento, uno de los miembros del personal va a salir herido eventualmente, afortunadamente no es mi problema.

This place has really gone down hill. Went here with some friends for a change. The place is nice enough but for a pub this busy they have around 3 staff working so they are very overworked and this means getting served takes a long time. But the worst bit by miles was the food. Me and another friend ordered the large Mixed grill (we were told they couldn't provide the large mixed grill as they had no eggs) I said I didn't want egg on mine anyway, but still wouldn't offer the large. So reluctantly asked for the standard. Again a long wait for food but slightly understandable as it was getting busy. The food eventually came out. My friends was over done and dry. Mine was far worse. I think the chef (I use that word loosely) had previously worked at the local crematorium as all the various types of meat were like blocks of charcoal. I understand grilled meat has an amount of char, but all of the meats looks identical (just black lumps) When I returned the food I was told they would cook me a fresh one and then 25 minutes later still no sign . Eventually I asked for a refund because my friends had finished eating and also I had no confidence that if my food ever did come out, that it would be any better. The staff did offer some half hearted apologies, but I get the feeling complaints are probably a regular occurrence. It's a shame as the staff outside the kitchen seem to be working hard but there just isn't enough of them. The cooking staff however let this place down massively. I have never seen a mixed grill cooked so badly in my life even at places where cheapness is the aim. I won't be going back here I'm afraid.

Great pub. It has a lot of character and a friendly and warm atmosphere. One of my favourite Wetherspoons pubs.

Good service and consistently good value food. A good every-day restaurant. Update 30 July 24: reasonable service today but still value. Great that they had lots of free tables on summer holiday. Very good curries and steaks. Ordering on the Wetherspoons app is always the best way. Update 17 Feb 25: Coffee machines unreliable, and menu shortages were a bit frustrating today.

Waited 1 hour for breakfast, if you can’t cope then close . Dirty tables , ran out of clean as n cups . A disgrace to spoons .

Was served by Kelly at the bar who is very polite and told me about special offers on food which was fantastic had a double American cheeseburger with a drink at a great price will definitely be returning to the pub again. Kelly is a credit to the The Admiral sir John Wetherspoons pub and very much hope to be Served by her again Well done Kelly big 5 stars

Vine a desayunar un poco. No había muchas mesas libres, o estaban ocupadas por personas o abarrotadas de desayunos y platos abandonados. Pedí un benedicto de hongos que tardó un poco en llegar. En la primera mordida me congelaron el cerebro debido a lo agrio de la misma. Pensé que quizás añadiendo un poco de sal mejoraría el sabor. Después de una caza de sal (que estaba escondida detrás de una pared) y añadir un poco no mejoró, muy decepcionante. Nadie me revisó sobre mi pedido, nadie me preguntó sobre reemplazo tampoco. Así que un total desperdicio de dinero.

Loads of tables occupied, either with people eating or cluttered by dirty dishes with leftovers. I ordered mushroom benedict, took a while before it arrived. On first bite I got a brain freeze due to the sourness of it. I thought, lets add some salt, maybe the taste is better. Went to ask for some salt at the bar as there wasn't any on my table. Found the condiments table hidden behind a wall. After adding a little salt it still tasted sour. I finished it but I shall not come back here, a waste of money. And a shame nobody came to check if my food was ok... Asking me what dish I recommend? None... it just wasn't good enough.

Good prices (as usual with 'spoons) and good selection of beers. Staff generally OK, but the clientelle often leave a lot to be desired. Avoid late Fridays and Saturdays around pay days.

Didn't eat here..... We just popped in for a couple of drinks before a restaurant reservation elsewhere...... The drinks, of course, were reasonably priced.....the Place was very clean and the atmosphere was good. Staff were pleasant too.

I can't believe how badly managed this Wetherspoons is,,,,, sat her for two hours and never saw one table cleaned or emptied of pots or glasses! Staff standing around talking and on there fones!

We went for a Teatime meal on a Saturday in October...some of the dishes were off menu due to some kitchen problem on their busiest day of the week...only one person serving behind the bar on a busy Saturday evening...had a steak which was tough and the chip portion size was disappointingly small...that evening they were not up to their usual better standard...

It was very typical of a Weather Spoon's pub. I was taken by a friend who really likes them. Value for money it was excellent but it's not the sort of pub I would use to take the family. The food was quite good for the price and the beer was fine and much cheaper than other places. They seemed short staffed and so there were a lot of dishes and empty glasses left lying around for quite a long time. If you don't mind that it was a great place to go for a meal and some drinks for a catch up with a good friend but didn't have the nicer ambience I would want for a visit with the family.

Long waits for service by app or at the bar. Friend went to the bar and took 15 mins to gets served. I ordered on the app and it took 30 mins for drinks to arrive.

I don't rate Wetherspoon as a standard restaurant, but as an affordable reliable place to have, for UK, decent meal. Cleanliness in The Admiral Sir John Borlase has better standard than average Wetherspoons and it's less crowded and more civilised. Food is the same as elsewhere, but as a quick stop on the way to London it was good enough. AND! I like the canon aiming on the front door! It's really cool 😎

Wetherspoons what's not to love

Gran desayuno con un gran servicio y relación calidad-precio. Era un día libre de IVA, pero yo también habría estado feliz a precio completo.

I am sure this is a one off and there has to be an exceptional circumstances but I'm going to write as I find. The service was absolutely shocking, the staff put the tables together for us as we were a family of 9, the mature lady we spoke to when we got there was polite and explained the waiting time was around 30-45 minutes, that was absolutely no issue. 7 of us ordered our food to begin with and 1 came out within 30 minutes, followed by the second plate 15 minutes later followed by third plate 5 minutes after and so on, the point being we all ate at different times, the first meal was finished before plate number 6 even came out. The food was dry as you can tell with the peas and jacket potato as well as the bacon. I was told that wetherspoons just warm food up and it is sent in already cooked is this correct? Anyway... The puddings! 7 had puddings 4 of them were cookie dough and ice cream and you guessed it, the first one came out followed 7 minutes later by the second one, when the last pudding came out the young server lent over a family member to give it to another family member. The atmosphere was good 👍🏼

Typical JDW pub offering the usual fare you’d expect from a Wetherspoons. Large and spacious in side with plenty of options for food and drink. Large bar area. Always busy on weekends and sunny days. Cheap dine in options with good service from staff.

Not many staff on duty, hence the amount of dirty tables. We visited at lunchtime & there were still dirty breakfast plates around. Young bar person didn't appear interested & came across quite rude when I enquired about the carpark. (Which by the way is for staff only)! At least the coffee was decent 🤔

Roast dinner with no roasted potatoes absolute joke place needs proper staff not cokeheads embarrassing would say wasted my money but I got it back never again absolutely awful given this place a chance don't bother horrendous

Absolute joke! They have a sign up saying queue along the bar bit when you do this allow others to be served first- only one person serving despite a queue all the way back, other staff wondering around doing nothing to help! Unfortunately we had a large party due to arrive to celebrate with us - after the appalling service we left and spent our money elsewhere

I didn’t have any food only a packet of crisps 🤩🤩 but the service isn’t the best late at night only 2 serving which isn’t good I understand it’s Tuesday but these mobile apps to order drinks is beyond pathetic when mot many people are there. Comemos aquí muchas veces pero la comida y el servicio era terrible. Tenía pescado con patatas fritas y la masa estaba tan cubierta de aceite que era duro y el pescado que apenas se podía ver rompió todo abierto y fue a un miembro del personal para decirles que no estaba satisfecho con él y si él lo cambiaría para mí la respuesta fue no, solo estaba recién rebozado y cocinado y podía ver algo de pescado en él. No era educado y muy grosero y no se molestó mi comida se arruinó. Lo dejé en la mesa y me fui. Me gustaría tener una foto, pero estaba tan enojado con la actitud del personal

I’ve never really had an issue until today. Manager and the waitress serving the food need a lesson in customer service. Lady behind the bar friendly and the young lad friendly too!

Very spacious well presented and clean with a decent beer garden to the front. Although the food was a little disappointing (very salty and thin gammon) chips were average and eggs well you can’t go wrong with eggs but nothing to shout home about. The service and atmosphere were amazing with a great selection of beers on tap at decent prices. The Guinness shandy was perfectly served and the alcohol free Erdinger was a delight on the pallet. Overall worth a visit if you’re peckish and need to wet the pallet, I’d recommend a pint of craft ale with a burger and chips .

Cheap chearfull ...food was look warm could see it sitting on hot plate for 15min !!!! Burgers dont stay warm for long... Garlic cheese pizza 🍕 hot as i collected it my self ... Dont think it was the staffs fault , could do with 1 or 2 more staff ! 1 waitress serving n collecting !!

It is what it is. You know what to expect.

We were passing through Nottingham on our way to watch the mighty Nottinghamshire succumb to another inevitable defeat in the County cricket Championship. We never learn. The Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren, however, was our first port of call before the trauma commenced. We needed breakfast and we pitched the idea to a server who was bowled over by the request. Not at all stumped, he promptly delivered our order for two traditional breakfasts through to the kitchen. Not to be caught out, we swapped the fried eggs for poached, obviously. We had no desire to be out egg before cricket. Anyway, the food arrived, and it looked like an adequate presentation. A Wetherspoons breakfast in its purest form. Barely cooked bacon and lukewarm toast, standard stuff. A solitary porky sausage sits on the plate acting as a baked bean breakwater. And those microwaved beans had the customary skin perched on top of the serving, though mercifully, these needed no knife to cut through them. Retaining their fluidity, they nestled against the pig produce like an old friend. None shall pass. Two hash browns had been heated until reaching the texture of two biscuits awaiting a damn good tea dunking. And that poached eggs had a runny yolk and an only slightly less runny white. The meal was OK and it certainly set us up for the day. The actual pub was reasonably comfortable at 8:30 in the morning, before the rush. We would revisit the pub in the future. Just cook the egg for ten seconds longer next time.

Nipped in for a quick coffee on our way into Nottingham and chanced upon this place. Perfectly adequate for what we needed. Couple of coffees in a nice pub and then off we went perfectly happy with the service.

It's OK...that's about it. Service was blah, Wetherspoons food is getting worse..stick to the breakfast and you'll be fine..anything else is poor and not worth the money.

It's Saturday 2nd March, afternoon. This place is a disgrace. Not one table cleared, ten minutes to get a drink. On the app. It's disgusting.... think there are new staff ..not enough clearly and not trained. Change the Manager. Put in someone who knows what they're at ....

Very slow service, extremely rude staff, was also given a euro as change instead of a pound, was extremely rude when I asked them to exchange it. Go somewhere else food cold also.

Came for breakfast and great value for money, quick service and not too noisy. Staff friendly and extra helpful. Accommodating for our sen child food wise too. Free refill on drinks is a great bonus. Thank you!

For a wetherspoons it was very nice. been disappointed it's somewhere you can go anytime and have a decent drink and some reasonably priced food.

Doesn't feel as open and livery as other wetherspoons I've visited as has rooms which are shut off from main area but still had a nice buzz, could do with more bench areas. Nice large bar was served quickly and pleasantly. Food was a disappointment, I've had a lot better from other spoons.
