Run down pub, needs refurbishment

Used to go regularly until 8 years ago when we were bitten on 2 occasions but as we were in the area and they have a decent car park we decided to try again. I had the pie, reheated in microwave so limp pastry, filling ok, pretty much like a school dinner with industrial gravy and tasteless mash. Veg OK. Sister had classic lasagne. Made with pasta, lots of mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of mince served with cold very pale garlic bread. Lager tasted soapy, couldn't finish it Blackcurrant squash tasted mouldy. We weren't asked if everything was OK with the meal so on paying and leaving I told the barman, who obviously knew everything was substandard with our food, he took 20% off the bill. Poor service, waitress couldn't understand our Nottingham accent, poor food and drink, shabby decor. On the plus side we didn't get bitten, probably because we kept our coats on, it was as cold inside as it was outside. One star awarded for the carpark

We had a meal here for my Daughters 18th with friends and family, the food and service was top class.

Food excellent, we had the Steak Pie which was fabulous. If there is a downside it's the low choice of real ales. Staff all friendly and helpful. All reasonably priced as well.

I never leave a review but feel I have to. Visited The Manor yesterday for my Aunties 87th birthday she has not been out of house for months due to health issues and has been living on ready meals prepared by her carers so she was really looking forward to a lovely Sunday lunch. The food was awful tough beef, burnt Yorkshire puds, very strange looking and tasting stuffing, powdery tasting roast potatoes. I had a tasteless nut roast. It was all very disappointing. My Auntie hardly ate any of it and we took the meat home for the dogs. I've have given one star because service was OK. We did not complain as did not want to ruin my Aunties birthday further.

This pub offers live music and food plus abbott ale.The men's toilet trap is in poor repair though.

The food was great, and the staff were brilliant. An item from the menu wasn't available, but the manager offered to go to the local supermarket to pick up ingredients if one of our party wanted to order it. I can't fault them.

Went for Christmas Dinner. What a complete waste of time and what a disgrace. Waited two hours for it and when it did come it was absolutely atrocious if I could display pictures of it I would believe me.. never will I go their again.

Came for Christmas dinner as a group of 8. First glass offered had lipstick marks all over it but they kindly swapped. Ate our starter but it was over an hour and a half until we received our main which we had to chase for. Did not receive various things that were stated in the menu; gravy, Yorkshire for some, cranberry sauce, sauce for steak etc. One member had a veggie dinner which didn’t arrive so chased after 5-10 mins of everyone else receiving their dinner, then they brought out a Turkey dinner. Swapped for veggie but did not have gravy. One dinner was served cold so had to be re-heated. Puddings all came out at different times and the chocolate choux buns were frozen (both cream and pastry) which was a huge health and safety risk. We were given money off our bill but would not be returning. Awful experience.

We organised a family meal with 10 of us months in advance and we were all sitting for our meal for 3 hours and a non of the staff responded to any of our questions and just walked off this place the food was cold and discussing kids didn't even get served all day. Don't come here ever waste of money and time

Great food lovely steaks and good service at reasonable prices. We like the Manor cos it does extras like mushrooms also at sensible prices.

Right on the road so you can't miss it. Traditional interior with open gas fire to warm the atmosphere on a cold evening. Staff were all young, cheerful and helpful. Food was very flavoursome, although could have been hotter - maybe warming the plates would help.

Friendly welcome. We were family of 5 . We had 2 rump steaks which were cooked to perfection wow there homemade peppercorn sauce was amazing . Chicken tikka masala was so brilliant. Service was amazing. Planning our next visit already.

1st time that I've walked out of a pub leaving the beer! 1st pint of craft ale was off so I went to the bar and ask for a standard beer as a replacement- that was also off! I don't think the pipes had been cleaned in a very long time!

Always excellent service and reasonably priced. Good size portions and lots of choice. Child friendly with a big choice of various meals and add ons. Childrens' menu is perfect for our 9 year old grandson

Lovely experience. Jordan, bar manager, was absolutely sensational looking after myself and the wife. When attending these venues you can only wish for first class service. Jordan eclipses this, phenomenal contribution to the service sector and team at The Manor.

This pub doesn't let revenue alter its course. A staple NG9 pub that will always remain.

We went tonight (Friday evening) around 7pm and had the 3 courses for £15.99 which was really good value. It wasn't too busy and the food came out in good time. We had a really nice night and the food was really nice and definitely got good portions for the price. The band were setting up but we left just before 9 so think we missed them. Haven't been to the Manor for a few years but we will make more of an effort to go back again. They seem to be doing a few more events so will also hopefully catch the music next time.

Went today for the first time wish I had read the views first very disappointed poor service food cold and undercooked and tasteless very small portions for the price other customers seen my undercooked food and I advised bar staff she looked agreed and walked off thats the service we got also got a glass of coke glass was dirty and pop was flat would not recommend anyone to go to this place its not fit for purpose need closing down or a big shake up

Party of 8 last week at 6.30. Room very cold. Service slow. Steaks were nice. Ordered deserts at 7.50 and were told 10 minutes later kitchen was closed! Will not return.

Our experience had been good previously at the Manor but we haven't been here for a while. We called in at 8 05pm and looked at the very simplified menu. Asked about what the pie of the day was. They went off to find out and came back saying that the chef had packed up for the night without telling the bar staff. The menu says they serve food until 9pm.

We were the only customers visiting for lunch and it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Once it did it was under cooked. The vegetables were raw and the cheese topping on the cottage pie was barely melted. We would have sent it back but there was not enough time left for lunch. Nice place but we would not return when we have a deadline of a lunchtime.....if we are wanting cooked food. Maybe a sandwich would have been a better choice.

Booked a table for Mother's Day we, were seated straight away and the service from the bar staff was great. It was a carvery and the food was ok the, service was slow and they were slow at filling up the vegetables, people were stood around waiting for the mash and cauliflower cheese my, son had almost finished his dinner before he got any. If people had booked they should have known how much they were going to need. The owner/manager was either, stood just watching or playing on a slot machine.

What a find! Found by accident when the place that was booked couldn't serve for at least an hour(1) The staff are welcoming and attentive, the atmosphere nice and quiet and subdued - they have carpets and curtains to dampen the sound levels The food was truly excellent with two great dishes tasted and enjoyed - a delicious steak and ale pie with real mashed potatoes, gravy and plenty of veg and mussels and fries - perfectly cooked in a seafood bisque with really good thin fries and plenty of bread; I asked for a spoon for the sauce as it was sublime Drinks were very good value The meal and a drink came out at around £12 per head - the previous night the meal had cost more than double that and came nowhere close Revisited March 2023 and, inevitably, things change. In the case of the Manor I didn't feel it was as good as last time. The menu is pretty extensive but is a bit "chips with everything" - which isn't very good news for a man who needs to avoid fat I tried the crab croquettes to start which were relatively expensive and pretty bland, there was a hint of crab and the portion was good but l wouldn't have them again For mains our party went for the steak pie which was a little dry; fish and chips which were apparently very good and I opted for the steak fajitas. This was a mixed bag with a good sized portion but the tortillas were tiny, too small to actually fill and eat. The flavour was good and the portion fair but some of the steak was gristly but our dog was pleased about that! The meal for 4 including drinks but excluding my expensive crab starter came to around £16 per head which is great value in this day and age but the quality of the food has slipped backwards a little

Place was very quiet staff were having a chat with people they obviously knew. They didn't ask if everything was okay. Steak and ale pie was very salty but was okay, latte wasn't great and toilets weren't lit. The whole place needs an injection of tlc! Wasnt goid value for money. Disappointed!

Friendly staff, food was lovely. Homemade tomatoe soup, chilli n rice. My partner had the homemade tomatoe soup too, steak , chips and onion rings . Both had homemade apple pie & custard. The pastry was amazing. 3 courses £15.99 each a bargain

A great local pub serving good beer and good food. The staff are always helpful. There is a nice beer garden but it can be quite noisy being very close to a busy road.

Food was very low quality, very small portions and alot higher priced then any other greenking in the area. The scampi and chips had like 5 chips and tasted like a microwave ready meal

Booked a table two weeks ago for the Abba tribute night, arrived 5 minutes before our reservation to be told our table wasn’t ready but would be ready in two minutes. This wasn’t a problem so we brought a round of drinks and waited at the bar. After 20 minutes I asked about our table and was told the people before us had run over their and the only table they had was outside! It was freezing cold and dark we had come specifically to see the band and have food inside!! The manager then offered to drag this table inside and put us by the door. Away from the entertainment. I didn’t feel this was acceptable and said I didn’t mind waiting for the original table. After 45 minutes the manager was shouting at me telling me it was my fault as the customer for booking a table for that time! This was such awful service I explained I booked two weeks in advance and I am also a paying customer! He walked off half way through the conversation and sent a younger member of staff over to me to try and make me sit outside… he was chewing his jumper and again walked off! I was disgusted by the way the staff and the manager spoke to me and ended up walking out after an hour of NO / POOR SERVICE! The way the customers are spoken to is disrespectful and rude!!

Lovely food, great atmosphere and super service!

The food is lovely and the staff are attentive, they do not always appear too happy though. It is so quiet here and I cant work out why. It is clean, the food is really nice and the location is perfect between Nottingham and Derby and right on a bus stop.

Review on behalf of a family member as this visit was not up to scratch and unsafe. The guests looked at the menu before arriving and all looked good. Once they got to the Manor, they noticed that the pricing was completely different on the physical menus to the online menus. They were all priced at around £3 more on the menus in the pub. Which was very misleading as the menus were incorrect stating different prices for the same items. The guests were informed that the physical menu was a new and updated version, but they had failed update their website which I personally think is poor and lazy. And to finish off there was no offer of a good will gesture to honour their misleading prices. Resulting in the guests paying more than what was stated on the Manor's online menu. The guests then asked for a gluten free menu for one guest, to which they were told that the poppadom which was on the gluten green menu was not gluten free! Which totally baffled them as it was on a separate ‘No gluten’ menu. This is unacceptable as this is an allergy that was stated on the day of the meal and the menu was incorrect and clearly outdated. If this question was never asked, no one would of known that this item was not gluten free. Which could have resulted in the Manor breaching their duty of care for their customers who face allergies and an unhappy, poorly customer. Usually we all find this a good little local pub however with the concerns over the allergies it will be highly unlikely to return back here.

Had a lovely Easter Sunday lunch at The Manor. Delicious food and great service.

Went in for Sunday lunch yesterday. After being seated twenty five minutes no one had come to take order. Waitress stood at bar drinking lemonade totally not interested whilst couple on next table had waited half an hour they said . We got up left she never asked us if there was a problem when she clearly knew she had seated us and not bothered. On trying to find manager we’re told didn’t no where he was. Tried ringing it just cuts off, emailed no reply. Obviously this is why it’s never busy .

Nice friendly staff, great service and good food at a great price! Chicken Fajitas recommended. Nice big car park and Motorhome friendly!

We haven’t been to eat here in about 3 years. This place used to be packed out on a Sunday with massive waiting lists if you didn’t book in. We couldn’t believe how dead it was upon arriving. When the food arrived it soon became apparent why. They’ve swapped properly cooked food for frozen, microwaveable garbage like Aunt Bessie yorkshires and roast potatoes. There were items missing off some meals, the veg was disgusting, and the desserts were an utter disaster. We won’t be back again.

We go to the manor every Sunday and sometimes during the week. I’ve got to say this Sunday the food was terrible. I don’t know what’s happened but we think we’ll be going to the cornmill from now on. Unless we hear from friends it’s got better. Very disappointing visit

We had a mediocre meal that arrived within a reasonable time and was hot. The steak was ordered medium but arrived well done. No one came back to check if the meals are all OK, and they were by no means busy, as they would have been notified then. Also, the vinegar bottles have yeast and bacteria goobs in them, which we didn't realise until after we started to pour it onto the chips, by then it is too late. A disgusting sight that has put us both off and we shall not be returning. Also, I would not recommend the establishment. Over priced and under performing.

Being a regular at The Manor it’s a shame I can’t give them more than 5 stars!! Absolutely amazing pub, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and lovely food. Recently came for the Mother’s Day carvery and it was absolutely lovely. The food quality was brilliant, as it always it! Definitely one of the best pubs around this side of Nottingham without a doubt.

Nice welcome from staff and very efficient. Decor is a little tired and the toilets could do with a bit of a polish! We ordered the Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed and all commented on how nice it was. Desserts were order and were very tasty. We will return again in the near future, nothing has put us off. 4 stars only due to decor. See past that and get a great meal and the staff were very helpful.

Just been for a belated birthday meal, first time I have ever been despite living in fhe area for many years. The food was really tasty. We were served by Beth who was fantastic and couldn't do enough for us despite being on her own. We will definitely be back.

For - great staff, food was well cooked and very tasty. Excellent choice of drinks Against - it was chilly in the area we were seated, 2 of the items we initially ordered were not available.

We booked for Christmas day, although the staff serving were great it took from we arrived 1.30pm, 2pm to near 5 pm to eat. 2.30 ish starter sometime around 3.30 for dinner then around 4.15 for desert. It was the first time ever I have eat on out on Christmas day most likely the last.

My wife and I visited here for the first time, the food was lovely, well cooked and a great price too.
