Great ambience. Good beer. But could be so much better. The toilets are filthy. No bar food on offer, not even crisps or peanuts. Ran out of half pint glasses so we were getting half full pint glasses! Such a shame because this could be the go-to local if they put in a bit more effort.

Cambiando de lugar increíble, la administración ha cambiado recientemente y es para mejor. Me eché a reír ya que nunca había ido allí antes y realmente lo disfruté. La cerveza adecuada, la buena compañía y Rosie eran un verdadero tesoro. No es frecuente que encuentres una criada de bar como ella, me recuerda cómo deberían ser los pubs, a diferencia de cuántos hay hoy en día.

As a local we have seen Verde change hands. The new owners have certainly found the winning combination!!! Fabulous cocktails and the best chicken ever!!! My family and I will definitely be making this our local!!

We purchased a groupon for 8 cocktails but they refused to honour the voucher - they advised us to contact Groupon for a refund, and blankly refused to honour it despite us already having paid for it. Disappointing and will definitely not be back. Will be sure to spread the word about their unwillingness to accommodate customers who purchased a voucher in good faith.

Popped in here with 2 girlfriends on a bar crawl..ended up staying all evening.Great fun..great atmosphere..lovely staff..and good freshly cooked food..Good selection of drinks and guys behind the bar where happy playing music we asked for.. had a great night and will be back..

Came here for the day with my friend who is pregnant, she wanted to get out for the day and we were recommended this place for the friendly atmosphere! We were not disappointed at all! My friend wanted a mocktail and the bar tender joe came over to her seeing she was pregnant and asked exactly what she wanted, what her favourite flavours are, if she had anything she was specifically not allowed and came up with a refreshing, colourful mocktail! She was so happy with this and it really did make her day! I chose to have a pornstar martini and it really was so nice! We can’t wait to come back and have a nice little day out again! Really can’t thank verde enough for making my friend feel so comfortable! Was a lovely experience! And drinks are top notch! Thank you!!!

Went on a Wednesday and had a lovely evening with good cocktails, relaxed environment and friendly barman. Highly recommended.

Stumbled here with wife and a friend on the hunt for 2-4-1 cocktails.Really well-made cocktails in nice surroundings during the coldest day of winter. Dean was a very personable barman and the atmosphere was especially friendly. The surroundings were comfortable enough but the cocktails themselves were particularly well mixed. Bit of a turnaround from the previous management despite having kept the same name and set-up.We will definitely be back in the near future.

Visited this place by recommendation of a friend the other day, and I’m so glad I went. The barstaff are all so enthusiastic and they put so much effort into making our cocktails, which were delightful! Also, there are so many vegetarian and vegan options which was a pleasant surprise, and the dishes I tried were to die for! I visited on an evening with live music too which created such a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be returning, Dean has done a fantastic job of redefining the place!

As someone who visits England time to time for family, I decided to try this place out again since they got a new staff. And now it's DEFINITELY my go-to place in Shirley.

Upon my first visit I was blown away by the relaxed decor. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming and the music is at the perfect level to chat, but also enjoy. I will definitely be frequenting this bar!

Verde as a bar have been fully supportive of my music and booked me multiple times to perform ! The service is excellent and they love dogs !

Recently found out it’s under new management, thought we’d give it a go and was not left disappointed, great service, would reccomend to anybody, keep up the great work!

From the staff, food, location and the manager Dean I cannot fault a thing. Me and my husband went for a meal and the food was outstanding, great knowledge from the bar staff to recconend drinks, the atmosphere was lovely and live music just was the cherry on the cake. Will definatley be back!

We visited Verde very soon after the new owners took over and are looking forward to a return visit, they have a great selection of ales and spirits to choose from, the food looks amazing and the service is friendly and welcoming.

Under new owners and what an amazing change! Atmosphere was awesome and we had such a great night sampling all the cocktails you could think of! Definitely recommend!

A beautiful excellently managed bar, The staff are attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We were made to feel relaxed and at home immediately after our first foot touched the floor, a great meeting place for both recreational and business meeting over some food will be recommending.

Dean and Jess kindly opened up verde for all of us Xmas orphans who couldn’t get home to celebrate with our loved ones They have turned it around and done a great job Great drinks and great food with a very welcoming atmosphere

In comparison to the previous owners ideas, this place is now a must visit.

What a bloody great bar! The bar staff are amazing service was quick and drinks are reasonably priced. They looked after us last Saturday night and made sure our group was having a great time. Would highly recommend.

I was out for a few drinks with my mates after we left the christmas market disappointed. We almost skipped this gem due to one of my mates mentioning poor reviews. Decided to pop in and warm up with a drink and we NEVER left. We had so much fun at Verde. The bar staff made us feel so comfortable. Easy to talk to and friendly banter. Drinks were perfect as well. We chose from the menu then asked the bartender Joe to surprise us. I also love a good pint and they did not dissapoint.

I stopped by this bar during my recent trip and I felt at home once I walked it. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, the drinks are original and tasty, and all around, the atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. Throw in being dog friendly, and this place has made its way on my list of places to go back to!

Tried again after very strange experience last time. No better! Customer service non existent, staff more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving and the choice is very poor. You would think in December they would order enough beer but no. Cocktails were very weird also. Pop up the road to the Santo Lounge. 200% better

Me and my colleagues went pub crawling in Shirley and Verde was the last place we visited and it was utterly disgraceful and regretting. The service was very poor, I asked for a piña colada and first the presentation was disgusting it was served in a milkshake glass, I mentioned this to the staff and the excuse was that they didn’t have clean glass (despite that there were only 15 customers max.), but was assured that the cocktail was good, well it wasn’t !! It tastes like coconutshake and absence of Malibu. Then my colleague asked for a whisky on the rock (£9 charged for a double) which he could not finish as it smell like rat peed on it, then other of my male friends asked for rum/coke double and the glass came with marks of red lipsticks on it, so it seem they didn’t care to wipe the glass and reused.

Came in for the first time on Saturday night with a few of my mates before we headed for something to eat had a few beers the bar tender was was very friendly and attentive and helped with my choice of beer and told me a bit about the product, classic rock music playing was quite busy people laughing and having a good time vibe was great will definitely be coming back

My Fiancè and i went for a drink there and the staff would only serve there friends first. And the man working behind the bar would only serve the women whist flirting with them (which was really cringy)..

I am somewhat culpable myself for having given Verde so many chances - being disappointed each time; however this fifth occasion will certainly be my last.

Walked in, was greeted by 3 young men drinking beer bottles, one of which was laying down on the bench as if he was having a kip. No welcome at all, felt really awkward and just had to leave. Was looking forward to this place as I enjoy new places in the local area but for God’s sake have a word with the staff... 1st impressions go a long way and this was a ‘why are you coming in here and interrupting us’ kind of impression. Would definitely not recommend!!

We came here on a Sunday evening and it really wasn't worth the trip.

The first visit they took our order and then forgot about it until we reminded them. We got served overccooked starters to then be informed we couldn’t have our mains as they had run out as they were busy the night before .

I was really excited to visit Verde and had heard good thing but my visit was disappointing. They didn't have the burger but when I initially got the menu and the guy took me through it he didn't mention any out of stocks. As I went to order I was told there was no burger - I decided on Nacho's instead - they didn't have those either.

Really happy to see places like this open in Shirley. Love the outdoor seating made out of pallets. However the 2-4-1 cocktails we ordered were undrinkable - my pina colada tasted like curdled yoghurt. Bartender was awkward to talk with. Hope it’s just teething problems from a new business.

The owner/manager came to greet us and was really friendly and helpful. He offered some food recommendations and assured me that if I wasn't happy then he'd refund me. I ordered the kentucky fried tofu burger and cauliflower buffalo wings. Neither was what i expected but were ok and very filling. The cocktails were delicious and my husband liked the choice of ales. Staff were friendly and helpful and i'd go again

We chose Verde for my daughter birthday, the staff were really attentive, even though it was very busy. Love the quirky outdoor seating area, which just enhanced the green ethos of the whole place!

I've eaten here several times and my favorite are the home made spring rolls and cauliflower wings, washed down with a pint of Nipper. The staff are friendly, and there is always a good atmosphere... especially in happy hour. There are plenty of GF options for my Mother. Shirley High Street gets better and better.

Well talk about arrogant, new bar with the attitude of take it or leave it!! Nothing on the menu?? New bar should have been stocked up to impress, no real welcome couple of guys walking around must have been the owners just sitting with a little click, no hello smile, to dishes small, two very small cups of tea ☕ no pot cost just under 20 pounds, money not the issue I wouldn't think twice of spending 100 ahead if food was of good quality and value, and service was good!! These people make me laugh open a bar restaurant thinking business just comes, well the news is I've run bars and owned restaurants in Winchester and Suffolk, you have to put in the effort, been there twice as first time wasn't good attitude, this is the last!! Shame my advice CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Buys you a lot!! ☺

I was surprised for a new place they were missing a lot of things of the menu. The staff wasn’t that so friendly and a man that I thought was the owner even not bother to say hello or ask us if everything was ok but didn’t miss to watch us away and kept walking around us with bottle of drinks. I also found the price too high for what I got. Doesn’t matters how much it is for me if you have a good service and it worth the value of it ! They even didn’t give us (my friend and I) a pot of tea but they served us just a cup which I think cost more than £2.50 if it’s not more than £3 as I couldn’t see the price on the menu best guess with the bill. All those to end up going to Santo Lounge for almost half price fir what we spent and they had everything on their menu even the soup of the day. I meant it also a vegan place (not proposing soup on their menu, really ?)

Only bar I've ever been in where they have a Guiness tap on the bar so ask for a pint only to turn around a moment later to see them cracking open a can. Charged me full price though!!! Outside furniture is rough and made from old pallets which pretty much sums the place up. Staff had a take it or leave it attitude which is odd in a very competitive high street in their opening week, so in future I'll leave it thanks and walk a few yards up the road to Overdraft.

I don't normally feel compelled to write a review but I was so impressed with this place.

I live local and love this new bar , lovely vibe , very cool Nice to have another bar in Shirley , with overdraft and santo and clockwork . Loving the way Shirley is changing , great place 😊

Impressive look and very friendly staff that seem quite invested in their customers. The decking area is amazing in the sun and has really comfy chairs!

Have given this establishment the benefit of doubt on two occasions and it does not work. Unfortunately it has an almost aggressive atmosphere with the people who drink there and do not feel welcome as an 'outsider' despite living locally, found this on more than one occasion. Groups. It costs £5 for a pint which is the most expensive in the whole of Shirley and you can get the same beer 100 yard up the road for 30/40p less. The idea is good, but it does not have the right feel about it. Not tried the food, does not interest to eat in a place that cannot sort the basics first. Toilet is broken after only 6 days from opening. For a place trying to establish itself as a good place for food etc, allows people to bring their own food from the curry house opposite. Front door only opens from the inside, so wait to be let in. No outdoor heating, but chairs are comfortable. After the bar has closed, still serves people known to the place. Either be one thing or another. Extremely disappointed as has potential to be something different and excellent. Don't think will give it a third chance.

I went to the opening night of this new venue last night, and was thoroughly impressed with what I found. Really lovely place and atmosphere, designed with with the environment in mind.

Yay, another great bar for Shirley! We had some great cocktails (best espresso Martini I've had in a while) and enjoyed the chilled out atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. We can't wait to try their menu!

Cool, eclectic, friendly, great vibe. Vegan food that's not boring (plus stuff for the omnivores), good beers, cocktails, wine, rums, gins, whiskys and vodkas (and not Bells, Bacardi, Smirnoff and Gordons). Well done Alistair and Sophie. You've raised the bar.
