Gorgeous meal at Verbena, excellent service.

Incredible food and such friendly quirky vibe! Highly recommend giving this place a visit, we were recommended it from a local bar and we were not disappointed. It’s not often you get food to such a high standard, love the ‘for a table’ style of ordering gives you a chance to try a range of food just gutted I forgot to take photos! We look forward to visiting again.

Great food, loved the sharing dish idea as it meant we got to taste more of the beautiful food. The service we received was amazing, with time taken to explain the menu and to introduce the food when it arrived at the table. Really made to feel welcome.

I went to Verbena last night with a group of friends to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and the whole experience was perfect. From the excellent service, the wine recommendations, the INCREDIBLE food and also the care taken to ensure our food was nut free due to an allergy! I couldn’t recommend Verbena enough, we’ll definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a lovely evening!

This is my favourite restaurant in Cornwall. It’s small and intimate with a lovely happy vibe. The food is always amazing, sharing plates with delicious combinations of ingredients, always something new. Front of house staff explain the dishes and pour lovely organic wine and can tell you the provenance of all the food from the beef to cavalo nero- seasonal and all sourced locally, where possible. We have followed Adam ‘s food for 4 years- hoping he doesn’t leave Cornwall but would still travel to eat his food Simply delicious and lovely . Dined here a few weeks ago and had such a memorable evening. The atmosphere is relaxed modern European bistro and the food here is amazing - the summer squash tart was a particular favourite with its perfect balance of crisp pastry surrounding a silky filling of fragrant flavours; but throughout the menu - the fassolakia, sea bass, local crab, lamb - there feels like there’s a kind of harmony of fresh, deliciousness. The polenta cake with lemon verbena cream was delicately zesty with a smooth sweetness, and the chocolate mousse with caramel was rich and creamy. If I lived in Newquay, I’d be here on a weekly basis - I’m not sure how anyone could resist!

A lot of hype on this place and I get it it has the hallmarks of a idyllic village hot spot but the food was so so, the beans, pasta, sea bass and mozzarella were all quite average. The pasta was Al dente and unique but Way too much lemon on the pasta and the sea bass, although immaculate presentation, was under seasoned and the beans were served cold and the mozzarella was quite plain, I will say the buckwheat was a nice touch. The service ‘was outstanding and friendly and the prices were reasonable. The presentation beat out the taste unfortunately. The only reason we went is because 4.9 standard was expected.

The design and style of the restaurant really sets the tone on approach, you just know you’re in for something special. A proper dining experience. All locally sourced, in-season food. No pretense in the delivery, but absolutely delicious. Couldn't recommend it more and will definitely be coming back. They managed to fit us in later on in the evening despite having no booking. Thanks for a great evening, well worth the wait!

I absolutely loved this restaurant. Its setting is tucked away in a courtyard next to a lovely wine bar. So cosy and atmospheric with amazing service, they go through the menu and recommend unique, natural wines you wouldn’t otherwise try. Food is so delicious, loved everything but particularly the pasta dishes and the chocolate pudding.

Another restaurant I have no ideas why it has so many good reviews. The food was mediocre at best. All the dishes lacked seasoning and flavour. The fasolakia wasn't fasolakia at all just a simple bean stew. The filled pasta barely had any filling. The butternut squash dish was almost like a canape. The best part of the meal was probably the bread. The dessert (8 pounds btw) was literally a dollop of ganache with a little biscuit. I would most definitely never return.

This restaurant is superb in its attention to detail and it’s matching with its seasonal ingredients and wines. We came here on a staff outing with a prior booking, considering how small the venue is, I couldn’t be more impressed with the flavour packed dishes matched with perfect wines. The staff are well informed and up to date with their menus and describe the dishes perfectly. Thank you so much for hosting a excellent night.

From the moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel special. The wine list was excellent and the knowledge of the wine list displayed by the staff was great. The recommendations for wine were superb. The food was amazing and the chefs presented the meals with explantations of the produce and the processes which immersed you in the meal. Our experience was beyond what we expected and visiting this restaurant is a must if you visit Newquay.

I usually try to leave only good reviews on Google Maps but I left this restaurant feeling really upset. My husband is a vegetarian so he ordered 2 vegetarian dishes and a vegetarian starter. I am not a vegetarian so I ordered a meat dish and a fish dish. They only bring a dish at a time and they brought the vegetarian dishes first so I had to look at my husband eat for what felt like an hour with only a glass of water for myself. My husband then flagged the problem with one of the chefs when she brought the last vegetarian dish. Then, finally, a meat dish appeared and then my fish dish, but I was already fuming inside. My husband had to look at me eat my dishes but I ate fairly quickly because I had waited for so long. The waitress apologised and then she apologised a second time with my husband when I had left the table. He was pretty happy as he had eaten well and on time but I was very upset. We did tell at the beginning of the meal that he was a vegetarian and I was not so I can‘t understand how the service could be so wrong. It‘s a pity because the food was delicious and flavoursome. I hope they improve in the near future.

We have been fortunate to try a lot of Adam’s dishes over the last few years in various setups and so were eagerly looking forward to trying his restaurant. We were not disappointed in the slightest; the dishes are things of beauty - both in taste and sight and very good value for the produce used. The pasta dishes in particular are perfection. The wine list is small but interesting with wines to cater for all palates. The restaurant is cosy and staff are friendly. Couldn’t recommend a visit more and can’t wait to go back ourselves.

Lovely location and beautiful ambiance with kind and attentive staff! However, the menu was limited, hardly any meat options and it was bland! We had a starter dish which was two small bite fulls of cold beef and beetroot and the three main dishes which was green beans with cheese (no flavour) and then two pasta dishes, again a couple mouthfuls. Unfortunately even after spending near £70 we went out for dinner afterwards, super disappointed!

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN CORNWALL! Honestly, such a great experience with phenomenal food. Tucked into a cute, quiet corner of the Newquay streets, this restaurant is a must visit. Food was delicious, wine was tasty and the chef was a master - even came out and greeted us for a few dishes. If you go to Cornwall, you MUST eat here!

I will start by saying that the food is delicious. However the service my friend and I received made us feel totally uncomfortable and unwelcome. I emails the restaurant with my thoughts but have received no reply. I would hate for anyone else to spend their hard earnt money on such a dreadful evening so I'm posting a copy of my email here to make others aware. "Dear Adam I feel that I must write and tell you of my visit to Verbena on Monday 14th August. I had heard so many good reports from my colleagues at Newquay Orchard and I was really looking forward to the experience. I will start by saying that all the food we had was absolutely delicious however it was not an enjoyable experience as we were not made to feel at all welcome by the waiter. From the start when there was no smile or pleasant greeting on arrival, just told "Your table is over there" to when we asked for the menu to be explained only to get the reply "How do you mean?" I'm sure we are not the first guest to not understand Malloredus or Agnolotti or Fassolakia or toasted yeast. I would have thought your staff would be only too happy to explain the delights on the menu. But instead we were made to feel stupid for asking and entirely unwelcome. We felt so uncomfortable that we skipped dessert completely, heaven forbid we had asked what "Perl las" was! When it came to paying the bill we were just expected to tap our card without seeing the bill. Now I'm fully behind going paperless and being green but I would expect this to be explained and the electronic bill to be presented rather than just being expected to tap a card with no sight of what I was paying for. All in it was a very unpleasant evening and I will not be recommending your restaurant to any of my friends. Such a shame Regards

Wonderful food, totally delicious !

Went in for early dinner with a friend, and I'm really tempted to write a bad review so I can definitely get a table in two weeks. Just not fair though everything was on point the service the wine, the flavors and produce. I believe Monday is the best night to book

This is a lovely little gem of a restaurant. We had a fabulous meal. You could really tell that every dish was created with care and attention. Very nice wine list - and friendly and attentive staff.

Food was excellent and good quality. Interesting and unexpected flavour combinations that worked really well. Highly recommend and would come back next time we are in Newquay. Appreciated the organic/low intervention small batch take on wines. However, I dislike "cloudy" wines (not all of them were cloudy). Better indication of what to expect would have helped steer my choice.

Superb dining experience. With fresh local flavours expertly seasoned and matched with skill and care. Really outstanding meal with exciting wine list showcasing organic and different wines. The gundi with ricotta was out of this world, as was the crab malloreddus and the olive oil and hazelnut mouse fantastic to name just a couple of the standout dishes. Excellent service and relaxed atmosphere. For the quality and taste, this is a hidden gem. Go now as you won’t be able to get a table for months once word gets out.

Even though I was a walk-in, I was greeted warmly and the kind guys in the staff found a spot for me. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. One of the best restaurant experiences I have had. Recommend going here if you’re visiting Newquay.

Verbena is a food lovers dream. Truly a five star experience! Front of house was very friendly and attentive. Wine was great. Each dish was meticulously crafted and unique. The desserts were as good as the mains . The chefs certainly have a lot of passion here. Some of the best food we have eaten. We will definitely be coming back!

Amazing food! A totally new taste experience with what sounds like strange combinations, however the Chef obviously has a unique palette to produce such delightful food. Looking at the menu you would expect it to be pretentious and expensive, but it is far from it, and the service is excellent!

Delicious, beautifully balanced food. The tagliatelle with cuttlefish stewed in red wine was one of the tastiest dishes I've had. Also recommend the cauliflower ice-cream which was subtle in flavour and served with a sweet, slightly bitter, buttery caramel and hazelnut brittle

Incredible food every time!!! Menu changes every weekend which gets you excited to go back and try the next one. We've been 3 times and ordered everything off the menu each time, every dish is worth trying and it's very reasonably priced. Staff are polite and welcoming too which makes the whole experience even better.

Wow wow wow. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I’d been recommended this place without much more explanation, so I blindly booked a table. With little knowledge of what was to come, we were utterly blown away. Everything from the super intimate venue to the attentive yet laid back service and the incredible menu was superb. The atmosphere was just amazing, everyone beaming with a shared understanding that what we were experiencing was really special. We tried to guess the bill at the end and wildly overestimated the price- speaks volumes. If you are heading to Newquay, do not hesitate to book a table here.

innovative, excellent food and an amazing service

I’ve always championed Adams cooking, since the fist time I tasted his food many years ago at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, but the meal I ate with my partner last night was next level. We loved the location and all the staff went out of their way to assist.

Mariana and Adam have created a wonderful haven in the centre of Newquay. Amazing service and interaction with guests and beautiful food and wine to boot. Highly recommend to anyone!

Wow, where do I start. Walked around most of Newquay, trying to find a decent restaurant, and came across this amazing restaurant. On entering, we were welcomed with smiles & the smell of freshly cooked food, we hadn't booked and were lucky enough to be offered a table. The restaurant owner/ head chef accommodated us extremely well. I've eaten at some amazing places around the world, The Verbena is 100% in my top 5 for sure, with localy sourced ingredients & with Adam's inspiration, the Menu & taste of the food will surely awaken your taste buds. The amount of love into the dishes & the excellent service does not reflect the prices, in comparison to what is on offer around, this place is extremely under priced. The menu changes every week, which shows how fresh & locally sourced the menu is. Be sure to try this restaurant, I guarantee you won't be let down. Well done & keep up the amazing skills you share, Verbana .

Amazing food in a great setting. Party of 3 adults and a baby. We enjoyed bottles of red and white wine with some glasses of sparkling wine. Everything was excellent and definitely our new favourite for Newquay.

Beautifully curated dishes. The starters, main dishes and desert were outstanding. Credit to the chefs. The restaurant is tucked away in a courtyard just off Newquay's high street in a unique interesting setting. Cosy and intimate restaurant. Officially now our favourite place in Newquay!
