Very much a hidden gem! The food was some of the best I have eaten for a while. The service was excellent and everyone was very attentive. The atmosphere was lovely and I would highly recommend. My girlfriend is vegetarian and even though that meant she ate mainly small plates, she loved everyone. Cocktails are definitely a plus.

As always a wonderful meal with super service and great atmosphere. Eating at an owner run and staffed restaurant really makes a massive difference for the whole experience. All food was amazing and will be booking again soon. Thank you Duchy Grub.

Went for an impromptu lunch yesterday. Still talking about our lunch. It was absolutely fantastic. Some of the best food we've had for a long long time. We ordered about 6 dishes including the freshest brill, mackerel, burrata with grilled peaches, heritage tomato salad with a local soft cheese and figs, slow cooked pork rib with soy and succulent hispi cabbage. I can honestly say we savoured every mouthful, with the chef demonstrating a unique talent for seasoning (salty, sweet, sour all balanced perfectly) and flavour combinations. And all served on hand made pottery plates from local clay. Can't wait to return. Thanks Duchy Grub for making our day.

Hands down the most wonderful experience. This little place is a true gem, the staff were so friendly and warm. Small plates were explained really well, we loved hearing about the provenance of each dish. This place reminded us of The Landrace in Bath which is close to home. Wonderful choice of wines, reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. The food is delicious. We had the Steak Tartare - lovely pops of flavour, sardines so fresh, unbelievable potato dish. I could use a whole range of superlatives & run out!

Heaven on a plate , Duchy Grub never disappoints, always something different to try ,you never know what’s going to be on the menu as everything is freshly cooked to order . Staff are amazing . A family visit to celebrate our wedding anniversary at lunchtime, chosen based on a recommendation from a friend, and we’re so pleased we took the advice!! Beautiful setting either inside or outside (we sat on the terrace outside as we had our dog with us) and it was absolutely delightful. The lady that served us explained all the dishes to us and recommended the quantities of food we should think about ordering, and she was spot-on with her guidance. We ordered some nibbles to start; sourdough with delicious butter, manchego cheese with jam and iberico bellota coppa meat….all utterly delicious. For the plates we had steak tartare, wild bass crudo, hispi cabbage, tomatoes with Padstow cheese, pork rib and soy, fillet steak and roast potatoes. All the dishes were unbelievably tasty, fresh and beautifully prepared and utterly delicious. This is a hidden gem of a place and if you’re in the area and you want to experience some amazing food in a wonderful setting, this is the place for you. I can genuinely 100% wholeheartedly recommend this place for anyone wanting to enjoy a varied selection of locally produced food, prepared with care and extreme professionalism, that tastes out of this world. Anyone writing a review and not giving this place a 5 out of 5 seriously needs to give their head a wobble. Outstanding, simply outstanding.

I booked this place for my birthday and wanted to share my feedback. I’ll start with the good news. The food is good so clearly the back of house are on their game. It’s not cheap, but every now and then I want something high end and yummy. The bad news is as follows: 1. They lost my reservation, no biggie, but then asked me to find it? They were accommodating and found us a table. Not bad, but not great. 2. The toilets were locked so I had to request them to unlock it. I was told the hairdresser may have locked it. What? 3. The restaurant is next to a mobile holiday home and is close to the pool which was a bit noisy. 4. The service and front of house was poor. You will probably get a better service at McDonalds. Conclusion: This place feels like oil and water to me. Great food with poor service and I’m not convinced the location works for the brands positioning. They did not seem bothered that I was there to celebrate my birthday. Would I go back? Nope. But well done to Back of House, at least they know what they are doing.

Such a special place, tucked away all unassuming, it’s quirky and quant. The food has always been exceptional. Each dish has had so much thought go into them, with lots of vege options. Some of which have almost swayed me to turn vegetarian they were so good! Great wine list, extremely reasonable priced and always the best service.

Very odd location at a camp site Signposted at the front gate when approaching from the left, but not from the right, go through main gate and take the right hand fork, once again no sign ?? Excellent food and staff, let down by the ‘Crispy’ Roast Potato’s , crispy to me is like a triple cooked chip, these had a leather quality when being cut and chewed, however others on the table liked them Balcony eating a bit dark under cover, could do with some more natural light, especially when sat at the lower of the tables you cannot see over the balcony sides Eating inside also seemed very dark, I suspect my view would change if we were eating at night (in the dark) with the balcony lights on, but lunchtime eating ambiance is not for me, I need to able to see outside the ‘window spaces’ But well done to all involved

Blown away by the DuchyGrub experience - stunning meal with beautiful terrace views to the sea. Our favourite dishes - scallops with wild garlic butter, oysters, pork skewers, carrots and babaganoush... and the blondie for dessert was unreal. Love what these guys have created - first class food with a relaxed vibe. We'll be back and recommending it to friends!

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience. Lovely atmosphere and service, and the food was just magnificent. Literally every single dish was such a unique and interesting blend of flavours, and yet each one still worked so well. I honestly wish I could give places like this 6 or 7 stars, because they totally deserve it.

First visit and hopefully not the last. Absolutely superb food, with great flavours from some interesting and unusual ingredients that take dishes to the next level. Great showcase of high quality local ingredients, the scallops with wild garlic butter being a particular favourite. The fillet steak was a little pricey for the size of portion, but my word it was the most tender piece of beef I’ve ever eaten. The service was first class too.

We have come here time and time again and it’s been spectacular every time. So many incredible flavours and exciting dishes that leave you gobsmacked. The service is top draw, you’re welcomed in with opened arms! So so good.

We had a seriously delicious dinner last night, and loved every minute. Unfussy, Asian inspired, largely veggie menu, with grown up flavours everywhere, complemented by amazing cocktails and a simple wine list. Lovely relaxed service, just a very lovely evening. Having just been to the POTL in Padstow, the cooking at Duchy was a notch up and we’re longing to return. Go and see these guys now, before they hit the big time….

Incredible dinner. Was too busy enjoying the experience to take more pics! But attached is the burrata. Definitely the best meal we’ve had since a Michelin starred French restaurant in Burgundy last summer. Beautiful flavours, great atmosphere and would 1000% recommend. We’ll be back :)

Visited again - once again delicious. Blue Fin Tuna was highlight, along with honeyed courgette and ele cheese abd burrata. Previous visit...On arrival, a little concerned about the dark decor and relatively short menu, given the focus on small plates, and lack of prosecco. Soon relaxed, with the best Mojito I've ever had. The food (scallops, pork skewers, asparagus and burrata - all ably supported with Da Barra sourdough) was outstanding. Tremendous flavour in all the ingredients. Service extremely professional and cheery.

Food is AMAZING. Inventive, fun and always interesting. Every time we go there’s another little dish that’s so good we try to recreate it at home (but never as good)! Recent stars are the courgette and Padstow Ele cheese, or the cabbage! Flavours are simply divine, service is fantastic and warm, and the atmosphere is spot on.

Visited for dinner following a recommendation and good reviews. Sadly left very disappointed. Service was very slow which was strange since it wasn’t busy and it’s a small venue. Half the menu was also not available! Perhaps an off tonight but won’t be visiting again …

We had lunch yesterday with our friends, as there were four of us we had every dish to share. The food is absolutely fabulous and I cannot recommend highly enough. The photo is AFTER we had finished!

We are an Italian family who lives in London. We came to visit Cornwall and thanks to the good reviews we decided to stop and eat in this amazing restaurant! I think it was the best food we have eaten in the UK! So congratulations to all the stuff because we had a very positive experience! All was good, good, service, etc 5 stars ⭐️

This was our second time visiting Duchy Grub after a great meal last year. The food somehow seems to have become even better. Every dish is particularly delicious, and the cocktails were great. We would recommend anyone visiting the Padstow area to give it a go.

The food here is amazing! And the team are lovely. It’s a bit loud inside but the outer covered area is quieter if needed. They were absolutely amazing at catering for gluten free (I am a coeliac) and almost everything on the menu was gluten free. They even brought out the flour to double check I could eat the brownie. Really recommend this place for shared food. Little bit harder for vegetarian but the menu is always changing so it may be different next time.

Will be my fourth time visiting this Thursday and I can't wait as this is one of the best places to eat in Cornwall the food is amazing every time aswell as the service

We came at lunch time during a very rainy day and it was the perfect meal to brighten up our day. Fabulous, inventive dishes, packed with freshness and flavour. Ingredients are really treated with the utmost respect here. Huge congratulations to the chef! Each dish was so unique, we can't wait to come back to try more. And we could bring our little dog inside (I think only at lunch time though).

We came for a lunchtime slot in the sunshine and couldn't have asked for a better meal. Incredible atmosphere (great music!), very attentive and knowledgeable staff, all complimented by an inventive, creative menu. A huge fan of the heavy native Mexican influences running through the menu - cocktails are heavenly and the turbot & mole dish was other-worldly. The absolute BEST eating experience we've had in 25 years of coming to Cornwall

Booked a table for earlier tonight after reading the impressive reviews online. First impressions weren't great, located at the back of a holiday park not what we expected. It appears to undersell itself from its appearance as a simple cocktail bar which sells a few snacks maybe? Walking up to the entrance there was a strong smell of urine too, wont lie we were close to going elsewhere. I imagine the holiday makers must get carried away after a few too many cocktails but easily done! Anyhow gave it a go and WOW! Blimey did the food deliver. The ribeye was sublime, it left me and my partner speechless as we demolished it. Had a selection of other dishes to accompany... Buratta, breads and oysters couldn't fault anything. Waitress was very well informed on the menu as well really understood the menu which is so great to see there wasn't a question she couldn't answer. Was also very welcoming and friendly to our little boy. This place deserves its reviews another 5 star to add to the list.

Even though this is in the middle of a caravan site, don't be put off. It's excellent and original. It's not cheap, but not Padstow expensive. Highly recommended.

Wow! Wow! Wow! We decided to try Duchy Grub and visited for the first time today and WOW! The service was extremely welcoming friendly and attentive from start to finish, extremely good on its own but then came the food and we were blown away. My wife is vegetarian but the dishes she had were amazing and my seafood fest was unbelievable, I’ve had oysters may times before but not like these and the wild bass ceviche was mind blowing. Everything we ate was stunningly prepared and executed. In an area like Padstow with so many great places to eat it must be very hard to do something different and get it right but here they have most certainly done that. You need to experience this to understand what I am saying but believe this we will be back again soon and very often.

My partner and I came here not knowing much about Duchy Grub but the reviews were great! Slightly hidden away but once you find it this is some of the best food we've eaten in a long long time. Every dish was better than the last and all reasonably priced - staff were great and super helpful as well! Highly recommend 10/10!

I can’t recommend this small restaurant enough. Tucked away near a campsite in an upstairs room. Warm welcome from Jasmine. Tapas style menu with some larger fish, seafood and steak dishes, superbly cooked by chef Joe. Menu changes daily. All delicious, and served with style. Nice wines.

Last night I died and went to heaven. Whilst there, I sampled everything off the menu and every dish was just spectacular. Each small plate packed an impressive flavour and aroma punch, was beautifully presented as well as thoughtfully and uniquely put together. The scallops with roasted truffle and shallot butter.... I don't have the vocabulary to describe just how delicious it was. The wine list and cocktail menu are comprehensive and tempting. We really enjoyed the service which was warm and friendly, the decor stylish and the ambience cosy and inviting. This is the type of place you don't want to leave at the end of the night and the moment you do, you start planning your return.

Not sure of the intended format but the menu suggests a Tapas style but is actually a mix of regular dishes and Tapas. Accordingly, we ordered the menu (3 people) and received plates we might not have ordered elsewhere. How pleased we were. Excellent in every regard, will be going back.

What an amazing discovery this restaurant was! It's not been open for long, and word is getting out (with good reason), but it's been great to be able to enjoy it before the masses find out about it. This couple have taken the dining out experience to a whole new level! We were greeted with warmth and friendliness before being seated in a cosy, inviting, comfortable and beautifully decorated, but relaxed setting. The menu was original, unusual and thoughtfully put together, consisting of a variety of small plates. (We had almost all of them)! The wine list had also been carefully selected. Great wines to suit all tastes that complimented the food brilliantly. We were well impressed from the moment we arrived. We knew it was going to be great from all accounts, but everything from the friendly service to the cocktails, to the food and wine was faultless and even far exceeded our expectations. Lucky for us that we're local, so it's now a firm favourite restaurant for us.

Absolute gem; cannot express how good the food was here. Between two of us we had 6 plates in all and experience so many different flavours and new foods all for a reasonable price. You would expect to pay a fair bit more for the quality. Staff were also extremely friendly and welcoming. Must have; courgette (if it's on the menu!)

This place is incredible. Wonderful and friendly service, a lovely relaxed atmosphere and outstanding, fresh and interesting food. I feel like it won’t stay under the radar for long, so I’d get in before the masses discover it. We had an oyster (my first ever!) and it was delicious, the brill sashimi, mussels, wild bass with heritage tomatoes, potatoes with truffle, cabbage (wow! Who would’ve imagined a cabbage could be so amazing) and bread. We loved every single bite. Probably the best mojito I’ve ever tasted too. Absolutely UNREAL! All four of us were blown away by every dish; cannot speak highly enough of this place. The food is the stand out but the atmosphere, service & decor just heighten the whole experience. Finally - the things this place do to a cabbage is pure magic LOVE!

We visited this new restaurant with our foodie kids near harlyn bay and must say that we were blown away by the passion shown in what we ate. The detail and quality of the dishes were refreshing and delicious. Thanks to a very creative chef! Our hostess Jasmine was also very attentive to us . Definitely coming back.

If I could give Duchy Grub more than 5 stars I would. The food is incredible - creative, original and seriously delicious. For me, our lunch there was a league above anything else we’ve eaten at restaurants in the area and we’ve been to some great places in their own right. The surroundings are simple, the service is perfect, the food is outstanding. I will be going again on our next trip down to Cornwall… if I can get a table of course 👍

An unexpected joy with stunning views out across the North Cornwall coast. The delicious ‘Small Plate’ menu focuses on delivering a mix of seafood and fish combined with tasty vegetable dishes. Particularly recommend the Pollack ceviche, Scallops with Cafe Paris sauce and the John Dory - reasonably priced and beautifully presented. Grab a table on the balcony to get the full benefit of the location.

If you only eat out at one place this summer, make it Duchy Grub. The food is sublime. We were a group of 6 and had a plate of each item on the menu. Among our favourites were the squid (…on another level!), the scallops (so fresh and tender) and the cabbage with oyster leaf - which was extraordinarily delicious. 10/10 for this genius team. We sat at a high table and watched the sun set over the sea. A really superb and memorable night. Thank you!

Someone recommended Duchy Grub as a place to get into before the crowds discover it, and oh boy were they right! This place won’t stay off the radar for long. The food is fantastic, the restaurant is lovely and the couple running it are charming. The food was fresh and exciting with interesting twists. Ancho (Mexican chilli pepper not the fish) and lime pollock ceviche was outstanding. As were the muhammara mussels with pickled chilli and coriander - quite the most interesting bowl of mussels I’ve ever had. Scallops with seaweed butter (adapted for us as we don’t eat meat and the dish was meant to be scallops con carne with a pork topping) were sublime. Literally everything we ate was delightful. I hope we can get a table next time we visit north Cornwall.

We are lucky enough to wander the world in search of amazing food and if I was confined to eating here and nowhere else I would be a happy man . Quite stunning food created by chef Jo and the balance of flavours and spicing without dumbing down or overpowering quality fresh produce is outstanding. This restaurant could be placed into any 5 star hotel and guests would be happy bunnys but the great attraction is that it is not . It is chilled and realxed and the front of house service led by Jazz is perfect , attentive , professional and friendly . I thought twice about doing a review becasue there are only about 20 covers and I dont want it booked when we go but felt it was only fair to share this gem of a place :)

Really lovely little place to eat! The small plates menu at dinner is really lovely - everything was freshly made and tasted wonderful. Good vegetarian options and the chef was happy to adapt dishes to suit my dietary requirements and cater for allergies. Fantastic brunch service as well, pancakes are absolutely incredible and great value for money. A must try place if you’re in North Cornwall!

Came down for a long weekend and had a fantastic experience at both dinner and brunch! The food is really fresh and tasty and there is a good range to choose from.
