Ordered a vegetarian bap today after hesitating as was very dear £7.50. The price ended up being the least of my worries as the bap was made of 3 vegetarian tasteless sausages with absolutely nothing else in the bap ! I simply could not believe my eyes , it looked and tasted so plain I thought it was a joke ! GCSE catering students would fail their exam if they served this ! How about 1 less sausage and some garnish in the bap ? It’s no wonder we are so unhealthy as a nation if even expensive vegetarian products look and taste like this … The extraordinary view and super friendly staff are simply not enough for me to ever come back . It is one thing to offer very expensive food but if it looks and tastes horrible it simply is dishonest. The Beach Barrista will now get my custom.

Fantastic location overlooking the sea. Plenty of indoor seating. Great beaches. The food was expensive and disappointing. Microwaved burger was not the best.

Spicy tuna wrap and carrot cake were yummy Flat white was tasty too, not weak like some so would have coffee again here. Really impressed with all the vegan options and the recycling of cups. It was a sunny day but no queues when we ordered food. Sat outside to eat. We tried to eat at the lands end pub but they were too busy. Very glad we headed back here to eat.

This is our go to beach for family get togethers. Plenty of parking, loos, stunning beach and the brilliant venus cafe! Great coffee and milkshakes. A bee line is always made for the delicious pastys and the fish and chips are great quality and very tasty. There is plenty of choice for veggies and vegans as well as meat eaters. Everything is locally sourced and ethically produced., which makes it taste even better 😋. The staff are always so friendly and helpful even when they are run off their feet busy. Visited this café and had the fish and chips — it was absolutely delicious! The fish was juicy, the batter perfectly crispy, and the fries were cooked just right. The staff was impeccable: friendly, attentive, and very professional. Definitely coming back!

Ignore miserable comments on here Companies nowadays are trying to do their best to keep the ever demanding Public happy. A welcome coffee pre or post beautiful area to walk…enjoyed many many times , thank you to all . The staff are far too slow. Wow, you served so many items. You're right. You're business is perfect, nothing at all to improve. Imagine how many more items you would have sold if your staff worked faster !. 4 items per minute is not that many. But if you're happy with your performance, that's all that counts. I walked away from the queue, many other people did too...doesn't that bother you ? Anyway, your problem not mine. It was slightly annoying yesterday. But from now on, like today, I took a flask, so no need to support lazy local businesses anymore.

A lovely place to get a hot cup of tea and bacon roll after a sea swim

Lovely, friendly, warm staff. Ace place to sit and watch the waves, even outside on a blustery day, slightly shielded from the westerlies.

Three cans of Pepsi Max £8:25,disgusting price as you can get 6 for under £4:00 in Tesco, absolute ripe off also serving staff could do with customer service training, very obvious he wasn’t happy in his work and so from my observation don’t be in a customer service job 👎if you go there bring a flask don’t be ripped off 👎

No baby change facilities, in this day and age is pretty poor, to say the least.

This little cafe is ‘Brilliant’ the staff are great, friendly, couldn’t do more for you - the food especially the full breakfast was the best I’ve ever had, and believe me I’ve had hundreds 😁 they even looked after my dog with treats and fresh water and offered different natural snacks for him - ooooo and the hot chocolate well, thumbs up 👍

Extortionately overpriced. First time we’ve ever had a milkshake in a small cup with a spoon, should at least be using the correct cup with a straw for £3.99. 2 milkshakes, can of pop, small cake and ice cream came to nearly £18 Could have given the benches a wipe over as they were wet off the rain in the night. Was a bright day so wouldn’t have taken much to of wiped them over for paying customers.

Wow best vegan tofu beetroot burger I have ever tasted. My partner had prawn tacos and his was amazing too. Friendly service and you can tell the food is made really well. 😋 Yum!

Good food, good selection, friendly service, decent price, just near beach. Didn’t have Brazilian bean bap in, but quality of food excellent for beachside café. Pleased!

The whippy ice cream is INCREDIBLE. So good to find a plant based option for this. Loved it.

The cafe is in the carpark to the beach so very handy if you are here for the day however the beach van sells much better coffee. The iced ( whippy ) cream is disgusting. It was like iced long life milk. It’s expensive and poor quality. Food is not great but the staff are friendly and the view is stunning. Snacks such as flapjacks are great.

The soft whippy ice cream at £2.99 is horrible! Worst one I’ve ever had. Don’t know what they were using but just didn’t taste of anything. Staff were lovely though.

I have visited this fabulous little cafe by the sea a few times ..they serve high quality food and drink..I can highly recommend the Devon grass fed burgers… also their homemade marmalade is worth trying on a croissant too… 😉 Staff are friendly and helpful.

Had coffee there today. Don’t know how they have the nerve to call it coffee. Rated 2 because it was hot and wet.

I had an amazing cornish pasty and ice cream priced as expected just over £10, sat outside with my dog. Saved money by not buying hot and cold drinks as already consumed mine on a walk.

It’s a lovely cafe on front but the only food place so it gets busy .. great though if you need something fast

I orderd some fish and chips to watch in the background the fish being microwaved then fried after. Even when fried the fish was soggy and mushy had a very silly taste to it to. Also for the state of the meal £14 is ridiculous Fuming 😡

Nice place with fantastic views. Food is very nice but expensive.

Unfortunately the portions of the food have gotten a lot smaller more recently. The staff in themselves are lovely, the setting is beautiful, and it's been a firm favourite for my family for a long time. However, with the portions getting smaller, we'll probably just take a flask of coffee and sandwiches instead of spending our money here.

A great cafe with a green ethos. Very friendly service. Good variety of food including vegan choices. We always stop by when we are at Bigbury beach. Be warned that the queues are long during the summer holidays.

Went for brunch on Tuesday and had two tacos and a stollen cake. The tacos were drenched in a spicy mayonnaise which was overpowering and far too much and the stollen was stale and dry! Total disappointment as paid over £21 for a terrible brunch? They need to up prepare better food for these prices!

Great little spot, super friendly staff, great view. Enjoyed a lovely mince pie and Christmas cake with coffee. Stopped here as very disappointed with service at the Pilchard Inn on the Island. Also noted a couple of other customers that had previously been in Pilchard. Would recommend this place over the Inn. The food looked great and there were plenty of happy customers, making it an enjoyable hour

We were so pleased to find this place open this morning during off season. After a long dog walk we found them very friendly and served a welcome hot breakfast and coffee. Dog friendly too!

Visited today 9th October '23, place closed for building works evidently, the person I spoke to in the little coffee shack didn't know when it would be re-opening.

meant to be a eco cafe served food in bag and a plastic pot when eating inside ! secondly food upset my stomach and was outrageously expensive.

Amazing food- I wasn't expecting it to be honest, thought it'd be a greasy spoon type deal but they had a great range of fresh handmade food and plenty of vegan options 😊 lush ice cream too! Would 100% recommend to a friend 👍

We stopped here for lunch, and it was very pleasant, reasonably priced and the food was tasty.

The food is good for sure, but very expensive - and the alcohol even more so, about £8 for a small can of wine; £4.50 for a portion of chips. We enjoyed ourselves but in good part due to the really beautiful view.

Lovely atmosphere, service was good. A total shame, we had to wait 35 minutes for 2 gluten-free sausage sandwiches, which consisted of unbuttered bread, and two tiny slices of tomato.. it was just thrown in the box and fell apart before we even tucked in. It's not worth 6.99 at all and won't be ordering any time again.

We walk over the hill into Bigbury and I had a drink and a burger. My wife had king prawns and the view, service, food is great.

Was visiting Bigbury beach for the day and got lunch from Venus cafe. The menu was much larger than expected - offering both breakfast (until 11:30) and lunch items. Had good vegetarian options as well which was good for my partner. Unfortunately they had run out of most wraps by the time I got there (3pm) so I got a chicken burger instead. This was very nice, but a bit pricey. Note you have to buy fries separately to the burgers /wraps - but they are very delicious so I wouldn’t pass on them! Between us we spent £24 for one wrap, one burger and one portion of chips shared. - so it is a bit expensive but it was very tasty, and is the only cafe available on the beach!

Fantastic location, really nice food, just a bit overpriced. Huge portion of chips, and the prawn tacos were spicy and flavourful. No baby change nearby so be warned.

Food is very, VERY average. Its massively overpriced, they must make a killing off us. Supply and demand I guess. But absolutely no one should get away with charging £4.50 for chips. Very "rustic" interior- exposed chipboard and concrete. By far not the worst place I've ever been too but can't help feeling mugged off at this place. Friendly enough staff though.

Opted for the light breakfast to fuel our walk to the island. Staff super friendly and helpful. Loved that they catered for dogs with wholesome locally made snacks. Coffee strong and just as it should be. Great menu variety and caters for dietary needs. Will be back 😊

Very clean and tidy cafe.nice food and handy for the beach. The food is a bit pricey but that could be the area. Take your own sandwich and just buy some chips.

Fantastic location The food is overpriced for what you get. Not busy but had to wait a long time. But sitting outside in good weather was a bonus. Not sure if dine in includes sitting on the benches eating out of cardboard.

Very lovely full english breakfast. Decent sourdough bread. Real butter. 2 egss cooked well. Bacon not oily…good quality sausage… i have totally absolutely enjoyed. Plus the stunning scenery

We had a lovely coffee, sausage bap and shortbread from here this morning. It was take away service but you could sit inside which was great as it was a windy morning. The flat white was excellent! You could also recycle your cups and lids there which I think it’s really nice.

Most the tables were dirty as there were no staff in the seating room. The floor was extremely filthy too. Food is also extremely overpriced. Just a terrible place tbf

Just looking for a snack while my husband caught a bit of surf sup, ordered the breaded mushrooms. Very moreish and thankful hubby was no where near me Soham it all to myself 😀

Fantastic food in a beautiful setting with excellent staff

Lovely little cafe right at the top of the beach just down from the car park, toilets next door, nice menu with a good selection to pick from, along with hot, cold and alcoholic drinks. There is some gluten free and dairy free options along with vegetarian. There are seats both outside and inside, dogs are allowed inside as well and they provide fresh water bowls for the dogs, which was brilliant for them after a run on the beach!

So disappointed. We have always headed to Bigbury for cheesy chips, yesterday they were cold and cheese a little rancid. The hot chocolate was awful. Really disappointing.

Just grabbed a drink snd ice cream. OK, expensive as on £17 for 3 tubs ice cream and 3 cans drink.

Had the panko chicken tacos with asian slaw and sirachi mayo. Sat on the beach to eat it as outside tables full and inside tables were all quite dirty. The food though was absolutely delicious and would highly recommend this place if you are in the area. Quick service and staff were lovely

Excellent service and helpful staff, great choice of eat in or takeaway food, a little on the pricey side, but your paying for the convenience and brilliant beaches and views of the South West Coast.

We spent a week in Bigbury & as the Pilchard was shut this place was our family’s holiday haunt. The food was delicious, throughly recommend the ‘Vishfinger’ bap, I’m not vegan but I genuinely wouldn’t have known this wasn’t fish! All the staff were so welcoming & friendly. A beautifully positioned cafe, fabulous staff (especially Rachel!) and delicious food. If I lived locally I would love to come here everyday, will sadly have to wait until we return again.

Right on beach front and next to large car park. Extremely environmental theme for packaging, food ingredients and recycling. Full range of drinks inc alcoholic. Good range of snacks. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Disgusting food at rubbish prices, my wife would not tell me how much she paid for 2 mediocre pasties and a can of drink until we got home, £15:00 if I had known I would have taken the rubbish back, please please people avoid this place, another rip off company.

Ordered two chicken burgers took atleast half an hour to come out, the chicken wasn’t hot and it was pink, considering on the menu it said “fillet chicken burger” there was a massive bone in my partners one which he could of choked on. Spent £25 on two chicken burgers and chips very overpriced place to eat. I do not recommend going here when you go to burgh island as it ruins your day.

Disgusting burger cost £7 wasnt even edible. Asked for them to remake or refund they refused with such a bad attitude. Will definitely bring sandwiches from home next time. Never ever again save your money

Astonishly awful. £4.50 for a small sausage in a stale bun. Hint guys. If serving cheesy chips the chips should be hot enough to melt the cheese. A classic ecample of style over substance. But the entitled masses will continue to patronise it do hey- Ho....

Simple beachside food and drinks are available at this cafe - great views, but I’d recommend taking a take away down to the beach itself (if you can avoid getting your food all sandy, of course!) Tacos were a winner for our group - hot dog less so!

Not sure I understand some of the other salty reviews as this cafe is lovely. The best beach cafe you’re likely to find, with friendly staff, good organisation during the pandemic and a nice view of the beach from the outdoor seating area. Had a falafel wrap which was gorgeous and generously sized, as well as fries and a vegan ice cream. Loads of vegan options which all sounded great. In fact, they gave us our wraps BOGOF because they had run out of the vegan taco we wanted.

Bigbury on sea is beautiful. The Venus Cafe is very well organised given the restrictions. The loo is very clean.

Skip the wraps, but everything else is great.

A great value cafe with lots of choice, we had take aways coffee and hot chocolate with a couple of portions of fries. Fresh and hot not too pricey, ideal.

Visited on Sunday..big queue at the Venus takeaway..fair enough. Only ordered 2 hot chocolates, cost £7 they were grainy and not even Luke warm. Most disappointing.. didn't spoil the beautiful day out though.

Always a pleasure to visit Venus at Bigbury. Friendly service and great quality coffee and food. Where else could you get quality eats with a fantastic sea view !!
