Velvet in City of London, Westminster

Uno de mis bares favoritos. Las bebidas son increíbles y los aperitivos ilimitados son un buen toque. Gran ambiente con música en vivo. Los camareros son encantadores y muy atentos. Es caro, pero vale la pena.

Reservamos una mesa para 2 en Velvet llegando a tiempo a las 10. 30 pm. El anfitrión nos recibió de una manera abrupta, sin estar seguro de que podía ofrecernos una mesa y sugiriendo que podríamos tener que compartir una mesa para 6 - a pesar de que habíamos reservado. Finalmente nos sentamos en una mesa y nos presentaron menús de bebidas. La decoración es muy agradable pero extremadamente oscuro y tuvimos que utilizar las antorchas en nuestros teléfonos móviles para leer los menús. Me dolían los pies y por eso llevaba unas zapatillas ligeras con los zapatos de tacón alto escondidos debajo de la mesa. Poco después de recibir nuestras bebidas, el anfitrión regresó a nuestra mesa y muy groseramente y asertivamente me pidió que me pusiera los zapatos. Señalé que yo llevaba unos calzoncillos y él entonces asumió erróneamente que los zapatos pertenecían a mi amiga e insistió en que se los pusiera. Todo fue muy tonto e innecesario y finalmente aceptó la derrota, pero creó una atmósfera innecesaria y desagradable. Decidimos pagar la cuenta e irnos. Incluía un cargo de cobertura de £ 10 y un cargo por servicio. Nos negamos a pagar el cargo por el servicio porque el servicio que experimentamos fue grosero, ofensivo y poco acogedor. Una experiencia muy decepcionante, nunca volveremos atrás y por una sola medida muy ordinaria de whisky de malta Highland Park nos cobraron £ 35! Más temprano esa noche habíamos disfrutado de la cena en el restaurante Kerridges y en contraste con Velvet, el bar de cócteles estándar en el hotel era más acogedor con personal profesional que le recibe con una sonrisa.

Como viajero en solitario, había tenido algunas experiencias negativas en Londres. Pero me lo pasé de maravilla en Velvet. Me sentí como el invitado más importante que tenían. Los cócteles eran maravillosos! Lo único malo es que tendré que volver para explorar el Menú de Cócteles más! 🤭

When I visited Velvet Bar. I was expecting extraordinary service and an enjoyable atmosphere. The cocktail were absolutely great and service was impeccable. However, I was disappointed to find that the staff were constantly speaking in a foreign language among themself. It's a shame to go to places that offer top-notch service but lack the vibrant and inclusive vibe that makes London so special.

We came here for some post dinner drinks. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. There was live music - which wasn’t too loud - and was pleasant in the background. Other tables were served a selection of ‘nibbles’ with their drinks. We weren’t, but when we asked they brought some over - there were very generous bowls of olives, seaweed crisps (I think) and smoked almonds. There is a £5 cover charge after 9.00pm.

Another fabulous evening spent at Velvet in the Corinthia Hotel. Christian Maspes, the bar manager, has a keen eye for detail and keeps everything looking spotless and running smoothly. The cocktails are sublime with the Icon as my current favourite and all expertly made by Luca Cicalese, the head mixologist. We've had cocktails in lots of places in London but we always come back here for the best ones. They also had a trio playing called Victoria and the Foxes who played and sung some wonderful music which made the whole evening an experience to remember.

We love the Velvet Bar at the Corinthia Hotel. The décor is stylish and the cocktails are excellent. The service is also very good, in particular, Guiseppe really stood out with his friendly manner and excellent attention to detail. They also have live music from 9pm - 12am.

We popped in for a pre dinner drink. The welcome was quite officious, but once we were seated, the waiters were very friendly. It has a great vibe, the drinks and nibbles were good. Nice spot for a treat!

I used to take my staff to this bar many times when it was called The Bassoon Lounge. The drinks are pricey but every once in a while it is nice to treat yourself. I organised a group to have a drink there before the opening of the National Portrait Gallery. We took two tables and ordered drinks only. Upon the evening ending they insisted I could not divide the bill up. I was something like £800. They were insistent and rude. They time they spent arguing at the table they could have resolved the situation. Ruined my experience and I will not go back.

We visited Velvet for drinks on a Saturday afternoon two cocktails was £40 not bad for the quality of drink and the surroundings, I had the Bee's Knees which I would recommend.
