Vegano in Newcastle upon Tyne

Came this afternoon with my mam. Lovely staff member and even lovelier food. I had the camembert starter and it was literally gorgeous. Carbonara for my main. It was generally delicious and am over the moon to have experienced this vegan restaurant and the choices that were available for someone who is vegan. I can't wait to go back to try more menu options. It is normally quite difficult to find vegan options but it seems there are loads of choices here. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Went to Vegano last night. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the Camembert and ravioli as starters followed by the mixed kebabs and a side of mac n cheese. We took our three gorgeous ice creams to eat walking to the pub! Staff are so lovely and portions super generous. Love this place! Not surprised they did so well in a national kebab competition this week (they came third!), that is quite something and very well deserved!

Absolutely delicious food! I couldn't believe how amazing everything was. All of it was so fresh. Very relaxing atmosphere and the staff were all really friendly. We only wish we had bigger stomachs to fit more food in! We're visiting from Scotland but wouldn't be against driving back down just to come here.

Food was very tasty and very well presented. We found the portions rather large and struggled to eat it all. Good menu selection. Service was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. The music playlist was brilliant and atmosphere was nice. A very relaxing place to eat. Highly recommend.

Food was excellent! Was initially a bit disappointed as there weren't pizzas available the evening we went, but we got a range of starters and sides which were all delicious! Cocktails were great too. Staff were very friendly and helpful so would still recommend a visit.

Some of the best vegan food we have had, I had the vegan mixed kebab and honestly feels and tastes just like the best late night drunken kebab on the way home after a night out. Excellent portion size with all the sauce and fixings you would expect, side note the cheesy garlic fries were also phenomenal. Great small cafe atmosphere with super friendly service, the servers do not hover they don't conatboy pester but are always close enough by if you require something else. We will be making this a staple of our Newcastle visits.

Absolutely delicious food, great service and great tunes to match! Vegan food can easily compare to other food in quality - maybe even surpass? :)

First time visiting Vegano, we just picked up food to go for our daughter, lovely friendly staff, restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, dim lights, candles, nice place to sit in, we did sit whilst waiting for our order, which did not take too long. We ordered the mixed Kebab, which came with fries, the deep fried Ravioli and a tub of coleslaw, too much for 1 person, but it's what my daughter wanted to try, the kebab is huge and honestly on opening smelled like our kebabs, (we eat meat, daughter does not) you could smell all the veg, sauces etc, she absolutely loved it and she loved the crunchiness of the Ravioli, this came with a tub of sauce too, all absolutely amazing, compliments to the chef who made these, will definitely be back, thank you. I noticed they have a go fund me page for animals they rescue if anyone can help please do.

Our second visit to Veganos this week. On our first visit it was quite quiet but still a cool atmosphere, it was relaxing and calm. However our second visit, the place was booming, so I would recommend to book up folks. The food is fresh and full of flavour. My partner and I shared the fried ravioli for a starter, she had the Wor Donna kebab and I had the Margarita pizza for main. Both courses were delicious and very filling. The portions are generous but that didn’t stop us from scramming the lot !!! My pizza was divine, with a top notch vegan “cheese” the kebab was packed with fresh salad, succulent “meat” and topped off with some delicious sauces wrapped in a soft flatbread type wrap. Staff are helpful, friendly and attentive. Both visits we were greeted with a warm welcome and sent off with a happy goodbye. If you want to experience possible the best vegan food in the north east get yourself over to Veganos pronto !!!

While staying in Newcastle, I took my vegetarian girlfriend for a meal and was recommended to go here by a veggie colleague. The surroundings are pleasant enough. Lady who served us seemed disinterested. Both of our pizzas were covered in some sort of oil slick which seemed to be acting as a means of hiding the lack of flavour. Seemed very pricey and we were both unwell afterwards. I will not be returning.

Went out for birthday, first time. Great food,great portion sizes and fantastic service. Love the cocktails and the presentation and the music Only few negatives, bit dark, cant feel the heating as the door is open a jar and there is only 1 loo

Great vegan burgers, with generous portion sizes. Service was attentive, welcoming and professional; would definitely recommend if you're in Newcastle and looking to support a vegan business.

First time at vegano yesterday. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the carbonara my hubby had the burger with bbq sauce. The staff were lovely, will definitely be coming back with friends next time so i can indulge in all of your wonderful food.

Come here every time I go to Newcastle. Such incredible food and good service. So nice to come to a restaurant where I can eat anything on the menu. Such a range of great food, cannot say enough good things about this place.

Definitely the worst place I've tried in Newcastle in two weeks. I had the Wor Dirty Diner and I upgraded to have the Truffle Fries. I was given a ridiculous portion of fries with nothing on it. The place wasn't busy so I don't understand how difficult it can be to make a portion of fries. The wrap was filled with salad, so obviously was cold. There really wasn't anything else in it, you had to use your imagination to taste the veggie "meat".

We’ve been to Vegano a couple of times after our decision to become vegan we love the place it’s very relaxed the staff are around but not intrusive , the food is top notch especially the deep fried artichoke! Lots of gluten free options too , can’t rate vegano enough , we will be back again and again x

Absolutely loved the food here! It was truly amazing! The camembert was unreal! I would have loved to have given 5 stars but unfortunately the leaving the front door open in the middle of autumn/winter to allow air to circulate kitchen was a bit disappointing, think its fair to say that needs to be addressed. And I think someone got our vanilla milkshake order mixed up as they were banana flavoured for some reason. But starters and mains were impressive, the carbonara was fantastic! Thank you for bringing amazing vegan food to the public!

Blown away by the flavours and the thought behind each dish we had. I shared the deep fried ravioli, deep fried artichokes and deep fried pizza dough to start (love a bit of deep frying every now and then!) and they were all so, so good! Could have eaten a mountain of each of them. I then had the mixed kebab with truffle Parmesan fries. Everything was cooked and presented perfectly. Loved all the sauces in the kebab, definitely the best kebab I’ve ever had. I stole a cheeky slice of my sister’s margarita pizza and that was delicious too. I then had the Amalfi lemon cake for dessert, it was soft and fluffy and melted in my mouth. Beautiful. Thanks to the team for a memorable dinner, everything was perfect.

We had 2 pretend chicken wraps, spaghetti arrabbiata and carbonara. Ok quality, not much pretend chicken though. Facon was ok. Didn’t have large beer bottles and main door had to stay open to aid air circulation in the kitchen. Had it been a warm summer night, no problem. It was freezing though! An ok experience, albeit expensive.

The cafe is very laid back and the staff are so friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and great value. Can't wait to come back again!

Wow... I am not vegan but my partner is so we decided to try this place and my god all the food we got was out of this world! The food came really quickly, I wish I had got photos of it but I was too hungry to wait 😅 small yet quirky place, would recommend booking.

We stopped here before the football without a booking and we were looked after by the friendly staff. The food didn't take too long and was all absolutely beautiful. I had the Nduja pizza which was one of the best tasting pizzas I've ever had (and I eat a LOT of pizza). The rest of my group had the doner kebab and the carbonara which were both exceptional too (also massive portions). We had the deep fried ravioli to share too which was great. Honestly, I couldn't recommend this place enough. If you're anywhere near Newcastle, do yourself a favour and turn up here with an empty stomach and let them take care of you. We will 100% be back again! Thank you

Absolutely amazing food, we were blown away! I had the chickn kebab which was so delicious, and my other half had the pasta carbonara which was fabulous. Lovely staff, so friendly and welcoming. The range of desserts looked very tempting but we were too full - definitely coming back to try the pizza and cakes.

This is one of the best vegan restaurants me and my partner have been to, not just in Newcastle but the entire UK. We highly recommend their deep fried ravioli and truffle pizza. Best vegan gaff in the toon. We got the camembert, carbonara and double bacon smash burger and couldn't fault any of it, will definitely be returning when in Newcastle!

The dining area is about medium sized, definitely think about making a reservation before coming and finding the place crowded. Dogs are welcome here, as long as they're on a leash. From what I can tell (I had only one dish, the Mixed Kebab) the food is unbelievably good! The vegetables are fresh, the meat substitutes tasty and have the perfect consistency and sauces add that extra flavor pop! If you like fries crispy on the outside but with some mass to them, you're also at the right place here! The interior design is clean, spacious, warm and cozy, although a little dim. Could use seating cushions, I think. What it's lacking in lighting, it makes up for in music. Unintrusive good mood evergreens played at just the right volume. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, towards locals and tourists (me) alike. Noteworthy: a glass of tap water comes with a slice of lemon! Cool move, Vegano! ;) I will definitely come here again and I recommend everyone, vegan or not, to do the same!

I can never fault Vegano. Their food is amazing and their menu is a great size with several GF options. My non-vegan/vegetarian dad even loved his food and is excited to come back. Staff are always lovely too, very polite and great to chat to!

Delicious breakfast . I eaten every scrap. They even opened early for me after doing parkrun. Highly recommended

Very Expensive. Found a hair in my pasta. They offered chicken in the pasta but milk shake had hemp or something. So found the options confusing. The waitress was very nice.

friendly staff and quick service. it is pricey considering it isn’t near the city centre however worth paying to support your local businesses :) side note: i am not usually a fan this was the best vegan pizza ive had so far; their homemade mozzarella makes a huge difference in flavour

Had an amazing dinner here. Spaghetti carbonara was delicious and their pizzas are glorious. We were really impressed with the vegan tiramisu (my fave dessert) and cheesecake. Normally we eat a vegetarian diet but this meal really blew us away in terms of taste and quality. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend, even if your diet isn't normally vegan.

A gem in Newcastle, 100% vegan restaurant. The food is incredible and you have lots to choose from including dessert. The cocktails are also good!

My friend and I dined in for lunch. The decoration is minimal, clean and simple, and feels so cosy. I love the cute drawing of the sheep on the wall. I tried one of their special pasta "Chikn Arrabiata with Rigatoni." It smells nice and tastes so yummy! They also have hot coffee and cold drinks like smoothies. So good for summer!

We tried Vegano on the Quayside one Sunday and it certainly did not disappoint. As a result, we ended up ordering a take out a few weeks later. Pizzas are amazing and Wor Dirty Doner was delicious! My partner, who isn't vegan, loved their meals. Absolutely recommend this little gem!

I didn't have food (but will next time) the latte was delicious. Didn't think oatmilk could taste so good. Visiting made me think about our care for animals and dairy products. Will definitely call again.

We had a family meal for our daughter's birthday. She's vegan and had been to Vegano previously. We ordered a range of different dishes from the menu which is quite varied with dishes that replicate some of the "traditional" meals but in vegan form. For example there's a kebab, several pizzas and pasta dishes. There's a selection of starters and desserts. The opinions of our party of the different dishes ranged from "quite nice" to "lovely" with everyone enjoying the meal a lot. The service was very friendly and welcoming.

The hours aren't the most convenient for trying to visit on holiday, without basing the holiday around it. That said, once we finally got to try Vegano, it was more than worth the wait. The food portion was quite big, and more than worth the money. The milkshake was delicious, and my partner's cheesy garlic bread pizza was even great cold.

Everything is Vegan. No awkward waiting for waiters to check if the restaurant uses animal parts to cook vegetables - or cow's milk to make a coffee! You can go here for breakfast, dinner, dates, cocktails, etc. It is a cruelty-free café & restaurant. This isn't just a novelty for vegans. The food here is fantastic. The drinks are delicious. Be sure to book ahead - just in case - as it fills quite quickly. Our first visit was quiet whereas our second visit had people queuing out of the door! It really is worth it regardless. We came for a date and then again for our anniversary; both visits have been lovely and the choice of food & drink is excellent.

First tried a chickn kebab at the quayside market and it was so delicious! I was back in Newcastle so got the truffle pizza, tater tots and mac n cheese - all amazing! Going to go whenever I can, wish they were closer to home!!

A real hidden gem - I've been meaning to go for a while and wish we'd gone sooner. The food was fantastic, the service was also brilliant. I loved the fact that there were indulgent options for vegan food, like carbonara, tiramisu and milkshakes. It was so good we ended up there two nights in a row. It is by far the best vegan food I've had.

Last night we had the most delicious food and best customer service that I'd had in a long time. Staff were welcoming and attentive, very friendly. I'm not a vegan but enjoyed my Big Kahuna burger and fries but most of all my pizzetta which was so tasty! Right up my street! My boyfriend is vegan and his biggest mission at any restaurant is a good pud! Vegano not only had huge savoury choice but big choice of puds. He was delighted that he'd had a restaurant experience where he didn't have to question that this was definitely genuine vegan food and there was a choice of good puddings! He loved his pizza too. It did look lovely. Whether you're vegan or not, you should try Vegano. You'll have a lovely night and the cocktails did look magnificently classy!

We had a starter to share, which was the artichokes, was so delicious. Mixed kebab is heaven, I could eat this every day. The chips that come with it are amazing too, the little coleslaw could be better but still eatable. Berry smoothie was amazing too. Generally a very nice place with very nice atmosphere, really like the big painting on the wall. Will return deffo.

Some extraordinary tasting vegan food. Not so keen on the pate but the artichokes, mac and burger were outstanding! Thank you for creating such a place! I hear the truffle pizza is what dreams are made of, I'll be back to sample that one.

A must visit for lovers of food. Outstanding variety of cosy, filling dishes with flavour. Even if you don't dine in, watch out for their food van at the Quayside market. The mixed kebab was to die for.

Some of the best food I’ve had! All dishes were amazing and the service was lovely. It was great having such a large menu and so many desserts that you don’t usually see veganized. Visited with a friend and we got cheesy garlic fries to start, carbonara, and a rigatoni dish from the specials, a chocolate milkshake, tiramisu, and biscoff cheesecake. Highly recommend all the dishes from the original menu.

Excellent food, excellent service

Oh my god this place is a godsend, if you're like me where you have to be selective with your food choices and avoiding dairy, gluten, alcohol, and meat.. having a satisfactory meal is always a challenge. You end up with basic meals just to avoid the stomach ache, until I stumbled on this place! Burgers, pizza, pasta, and even kabab are back on the menu.. all guilt-free."! I had such a good meal and the best part is a feel great afterwards. Very lovely staff, the place feel like a family joint. A Must have and a must try, enough writing, I'm going to kiss the chef now

Wow! What a great little restaurant fantastic food that would be good enough to turn the world vegan! Friendly welcoming staff and a lovely atmosphere. My only improvement that I can suggest is that the toilet could do with a revamp. Will be back next time we are in toon! UPDATE 1 year on: Food still very nice, though the fried pizza starter is now one big one (see pics) rather than 3 small ones, prefer the old one. Hot chocolate was not nice at all and smoothie tasted more of ice than berries. Toilets still not improved. But food and service was absolutely excellent!

I had the crispy ravioli which was fantastic the only thing I would say is it would have been better served on a plate similar to either the camembert or the artichokes, the sauce on the bottom and ravioli on top as it was not easy to eat from the bowl, that said really enjoyed the food

Ich war vom Lokal tief beeindruckt! Ich war an einem Freitagabend dort mit meiner Familie und habe den ,Hühnchenfleisch'-Kebap bestellt. Der Kebap war unglaublich lecker und die Portionsgröße war wirklich großzügig! Das Lokal ist zwar klein aber auch sehr gut aufgeteilt. Ich würde es jedem empfehlen! Und noch dazu, würde ich empfehlen, eine vorherige Reservierung zu machen, vor allem wenn man am Wochenende hingeht.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant . Such a cute and cosy place to eat. The food and the staff are second to none. I’m not even Vegan or Vegetarian and it’s one of my favourite places to eat. I crave the kebabs they’re SOOO GOOD. The staff are always so friendly, warm and welcoming!! I urge anyone who’s not tried the food here to go and try it ASAP. Vegan/veggie or not you will NOT be disappointed!!

Terrible service. Rude staff. I called in with a friend recently for coffee and a snack and what we’d hoped would be a relaxing rest. However, the music was far too loud and we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. The waitress did not seem to like her job as she looked miserable and bored. We waited quite a while for our drinks to be served due to a disagreement in the back kitchen. I was all set for leaving and finding somewhere else that serves up a slice of charm. I wouldn’t recommend this place and shan’t be returning.

After deciding to do veganuary this year i wanted to eat at some vegan restaurants and extend my horizons. I had a lovely evening at Vegano last night with my husband, and OMG what a place!!! The food was incredible and you can really tell it’s made with love and care, our cocktails were tasty and the service was second to none! we had a warm welcome upon arrival, greeted by smiles and kind faces and this carried on throughout our evening dining with Vegano. can i also add the playlist was great, created a brilliant ambience and added some upbeat vibes to our night and everyone else around us. I cannot recommend this place enough, even if you aren’t vegan please do give it a try 👍 keep up the good work 😃

Brilliant vegan food. Not easy to tell it is though!

Had a fantastic time in vegano, all food is vegan (shocking) and absolutely delicious! The deep fried ravioli was a wonderful starter with a beautifully moreish sauce. The mixed kebab was absolutely humongous, with incredible sauces for a cleaner flavoured kebab and the garlic fries were intense! Tasting garlic for days, just how I like it :)

Incredible Christmas meal! We loved the Christmas dinner pizza, fresh flavours and a huge portion so we took some home. Tomato soup also lovely. Staff are very friendly and happy to help. Definitely recommend!

In top 3 of best vegan restaurants I have visited in 15 years of being vegan. The home made baked camembert, deep fried ravioli, truffle base pizza and ENORMOUS mixed kebab with garlic fries were superb.
