We had a terrible experience at punto, the food is average but overpriced and the customer service initially wasn’t great. There wasn’t a good range of meals, and the portions were on the small side as well. Our waitress told us the cocktails were 2 for £12. The bill then came and we had been charged for them individually- we queried this and were told that the deal wasn’t on today. She took off one of the cocktails but we were still paying more than we would have with the deal. After speaking to the manager about this, he tried to guilt us by saying it was only a couple of pounds (after we had spent over £200 on a meal and £25 service charge). And then claimed the waitress had offered to pay for her mistake and felt it was only fair we split the difference. I think this was completely out of order Won’t be going back and also would advise against going. There are much better italians in newcastle and restaurants in heaton

Refreshing to see a cream less carbonara with guanchale and cacio e Pepe. Great food and friendly staff. Dressed the table with balloons for the birthday girl, which was lovely. Will be back and would 100% recommend.

where do i even begin. we were a party of 10 celebrating 2 big birthdays (16th and 40th). the first thing that seemed unusual was that they said they had to charge us a cake fee of £1.50 pp for bringing in our own cake that we bought ourself. now from experience in hospitality and celebrating many bdays in other restaurants i have never came across such an appalling reason to charge a customer, simply don’t understand why u need to charge us a fee for using your plate and for the washing of that plate when we’ve already ate and spent a lot at your restaurant, it’s not good hospitality. i’m speaking from a lot of experience in hospitality at a restaurant that does very well and i strongly believe that customer needs are most important and if everything is smooth and service is good it is exceptable to charge service fees but this was anything but good. some restaurants give out cupcakes for customer bdays and have the happy birthday song with a candle free of charge so this is ridiculous in my eyes. we were told that their last orders are at 7:30 yet they don’t close till 10pm. we were still waiting on 2 of our guests and the staff were already pressuring us multiple times at 7:10 for our order. let’s just say if it wasn’t the sake of celebrating our friends surprise bday meal we would’ve gotten up and left. surely from business point of view, you should be more welcoming towards larger tables as they bring in the most money for your wages and it would’ve been the restaurants loss if they refused to serve us after 7:30. the young lady clearing our table spilt a bowl of hot sauce all over my friends beige dress, she was very upset and i had to comfort her in the bathroom. we understand accidents happen and we made sure to not make the waiter feel too bad about it. however, the situation was dealt with very poorly by the staff, they didn’t offer us anything for compensation of the incident for example, my friend ordered some tea to go with the cake and it would’ve been a nice gesture if they had put it on the house as it was the least they could do. we only ordered pizzas and soft drinks except for one cocktail and the bill worked out to be over £300 for our table which we think is sooo overpriced for the food and service we recieved and we thought it was cheeky to still put service charge on our bill. very disappointed and would not recommend!

Horrible experience from start to finish. We have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant whilst spending close to £300. We were rushed by the waiter about ordering our food as we were a table of 10. We were told that it was OK to book up at 19.00 but last orders are at 19.30 and the restaurant doesn't close until 22.00. All the guests had not arrived yet and the waiter even made comments about others not wanting food. We had to keep asking for drinks as no one cared and was bothered about serving us. We ordered our food and carried on even though we felt unwelcomed by some of the staff. The pizzas were hit and miss. A few of our pizzas were very dry and didn't feel very special for £15+ pizzas. Near the end of the night during cleaning up of the table, a waitress had spilt hot sauce dip down one of my friends dressed and ruined her dress. She went off to the toilet crying because want had happened. One waitress came over with some water and left it on the table for her. The staff never returned after that apart from when we asked for the bill. This is when we just wanted to get out of the hell hole. After the bad service and ruining someone's dress... they still put over £25 service charge onto the bill. We were so exhausted from such a horrible dining experience that we just paid and left. Close to a £300 bill and we all felt like we were robbed. Also, £10 per head for deposit and £1.50 per person charge if you bring in birthday cake. I never hope I have a dining experience like this again. - - - - - - - OWNER NOT WILLING TO ADMIT THEY WERE IN THE WRONG AS YOU CAN SEE BY THEIR REPLY. • Ruin peoples dress and still charge £25 service charge. What a joke of a business. • did know about the cake as they told me about the £1.50 charge over the phone. • must have cctv in the toilets if they knew our friend wasn't upset about her dress being ruined which she was.

The food here is fantastic and I will definitely be coming here again. The service we received from the staff was amazing and everyone was very helpful

The ‘kids eat free’ deal is a bit of a con in my opinion. The pasta dish is literally just pasta with tomato sauce. Where is the nutrients in that? If you want to add meatballs it costs £8… £8!!! For a few meatballs?? Really put me off that this disrespect for customers! The adult’s food we got was ok but I won’t be returning due to the above.

Fantastic restaurant. Eaten here a couple of times and both the pasta and pizza is excellent. Very friendly and attentive staff too. Meg, Georgia, Helen and Abbie were all brilliant. The lemonade is out of this world too!

Punto has been a favourite restaurant of mine to visit with friends, parents, and my wife, since it opened. The service is outstanding, as is the food. Will be returning again soon!

First time visiting a week ago. Had heard great things, and people had recommended it to us, but it was even better than I thought it would be. We had meatball shared starter, pasta mains, and absolutely stunning puddings. Every single course we tried was amazing. We will absolutely 100% be returning soon and bringing family and friends along too. Also, all the staff we spoke to were so friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. Not a single fault!

A wonderful restaurant! Lovely setting, very fresh feeling and very clean. The owners and the staff are so genuine and kind, they make you feel like any request you have is no problem. We arrived for a birthday meal to find balloons and a card on the table which was so lovely! Great selection of drinks (the Prosecco in particular was delicious) and the menu has the perfect amount of dishes to choose from too. The food is by far the best Italian food I’ve had in the North East! The fresh pasta really makes a difference! Me and my family will 1000% be returning

Absolutely 💯 scrummy authentic Italian Cuisine with an amazing warm and friendly ambience. I went last night with a group of 12. We are a neurodiverse group so eating out can be quite challenging for us . Not in this restaurant! As they went above and beyond. We were gave a very hearty welcome followed by the most amazing scrummy food. I will be back for sure! Well done everyone. An absolute treasure of a restaurant in Heaton. Take a bow 👌🙌

food was good. we got 2 pizzas. toppings used were abit more traditional, which may not be everybody's cup of tea. was abit surprised there was not just an option for a standard pepperoni pizza which is seems like an obvious classic for any Italian restaurant & there wasn't much choice for anything similar. we are yet to try their pastas but pizzas were not bad 7/10. the deserts were delicious. my GF loved the nutella pot and i had the canola. I was kind of expecting a lil more candied fruit with mine in all honesty....but it was all eaten in seconds anyways so what's it matter lol

Great food and atmosphere, really friendly staff

We had a lovely dinner at punto with our kids. The staff were so accommodating, making sure we had room for our twin pram. Our toddler wasn’t in the best mood, but the staff went out their way to cheer her up even allowing her to make her own pizza so that we could have a peaceful meal! The food was delicious as well. We will definitely be back!!

This was my 3rd time visiting Punto Italian Kitchen and it never disappoints. Service is great staff are really welcoming and you never have to wait long even when busy. Food is amazing, fresh, full of flavour and presented really well. I went a few days before my Birthday and they had set out balloons and a card on the table for me which was a really lovely surprise. Can’t wait to visit again.

Lovely food that caters for all tastes and ages. Some unique Italian beers on the menu too. A lively and family friendly atmosphere. Our servers, Meg and Georgia, were friendly and super attentive during a busy service.

Nice welcome when you go in, staff are great. But theres ALWAYS a bit of a wait for your food. Sitting in or taking away there's always a wait that kinda spoils your experience. Been 3 times and 45 minutes average for 2 pizzas and sides isn't really acceptable is it? Nice food, but it's ruined by the wait.

Lovely food! We had the mixed antipasto shared between 4 and the whipped ricotta was our favourite. The pasta was great as well, we had the crab linguine, would recommend. Service was great too.

Went , with friends, for a 70th birthday Sunday lunch...when seated, asked about vegetables, OK, so they knew about what we were going to order. Ordered drinks then ordered the beef...only to be told it was off. A few minutes later order the 2nd option for Sunday lunch...to be told again it was off!!!..so the birthday lunch was completely spoiled. Should have been informed the lunch options were off b4 being sat and ordering drinks.

Very good pizzas - especially the Fiorentino with perfectly cooked eggs! Very nice affogato with home made ice cream. Very attentive staff. Just knocked a star off for atmosphere because it was quiet when we were there (early lunch).

The environment is ok but the food does not worth the money and they charge "service charges", which is ridiculous!

This Italian gem exceeded our expectations . The risotto frutti di mare was a sea of flavors, combining perfectly cooked rice with a medley of fresh seafood. The pizza funghi and margherita were pure pizza perfection, with a crispy crust and a harmonious blend of toppings . The focaccia with ricotta was a delightful surprise. The exceptional service and warm welcome extended by both Beth and Tara added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. Their constant smiles and attentive care truly made our time at the restaurant delightful. Kudos to Beth and Tara for enhancing the overall ambiance with their outstanding hospitality. 100% recommend! Was defo worth the Uber from the city centre. Went for my birthday, they had balloons on the table and a handwritten birthday card!! Staff were all super lovely, even the man who greeted us who want even on shift! Food and drinks were brilliant and brought quickly. Was a bit quiet as it was a Monday evening but even so such a pleasant atmosphere and very underrated as I’d never heard of them before even being in NCL for 3 years. This is our first evening visit to Punto. The first table offered was positioned next to a main thoroughfare for staff and customers using the toilets. When we saw this we requested and were offered another. Service was excellent, staff were polite and friendly. Entrees were delicious. Claire had a generous portion of cheesy garlic bread, I had some excellent home made focaccia with an oil and balsamic vinegar dip. Mains were quite a contrast, Claire’s rigatoni zozzana alleged a touch of chilli but was actually rather spicy. My Lasagna had no discernible layers, was heavy on sauce and cheese, was light on pasta and I couldn’t detect any bechamel sauce. Claire was unable to finish hers a while mine tasted ok it was not lasagne in my opinion. Dessert was a return to excellence, Claire’s affogato was tasty and well presented. My tartufo miso was a delight to see and eat. Finally, I loved the coffee. I thought the mains marred what could have been a great night out. I deducted half a star for the table and ambience and one for the mains.

I was looking for informal dining for friends and I am so pleased we tried this lovely Italian restaurant! So friendly but get there early on a Sunday of you want their roasts...they must be good as they were sold out by 6pm but we LOVED our pizzas. The Heaton Honey Glazed Sesame Crust is DELICIOUS! I will definitely be back very soon and would highly recommend it to others.

The sunday lunch was not hot and we asked for 2 course sunday lunch £21 pound they charged us the lunch and dessert seperate price so was over charged £6 i told the waitress the 3 lunches wernt hot but where tasty and she didnt even apologise i didnt complain about the £6 pound over charge we didnt leave a took our mother 4 an early mothers day was very disapointed

We have been to this restaurant three times now, and unfortunately have found the quality of food and service to be inconsistent.. Today we waited over 45 minutes after ordering before any food arrived, whereas we’ve found the pace of service on previous visits to be perfect. Avoid sitting on the high tables, as we’ve sat there twice and both times felt we were a little forgotten when it comes to drinks service (the staff can’t see you when they are behind the bar because of a machine blocking their view). Pizza is quite a safe bet - freshly made and piping hot, but the other dishes not so much. Good choice of pizzas is available. On a previous visit I had the beef shin ragú extra spicy and it was fantastic, but during today’s visit the chef seemed to have no idea how to spice up this dish. Despite making it twice it was incredibly bland and lacked any spice at all. I ended up eating alone as the rest of the family had finished their meals before the second attempt came out. It wasn’t worth sending it back again, and nobody asked if it was OK until it was finished anyway. Both pasta dishes we ordered arrived cold, and we overheard other guests saying their Sunday lunch was also cold. We had been recommending this restaurant to friends recently, but unfortunately we will now stop doing so. Unfortunately left disappointed today, and we know it can be very good. Paid in full, but it really wasn’t worth it.

Lovely restaurant. Been coming here now for a good few months since my boyfriend and I moved to the area. The service is always amazing (Megan in particular is a great waitress) and the food is delicious. The owners are super friendly and I love hearing about their family story and what led them to creat this place. Very highly recommended

I live in Heaton, and had great expectations of this place, as I’d seen it often walking around the area. Unfortunately, it fell far below my expectations. The starter consisted of cold, stale bread and the cacio e pasta I ordered was too salty and utterly inedible. There are also limited pasta options for vegetarians and vegans. For the price they charge and the quality of the food, this place was a disappointment.

Visited Punto on a whim after craving a proper Neapolitan pizza in Newcastle, so happy we did! My mushroom and truffle pizza was amazing, as was my boyfriend’s Margherita. Punto’s take on the traditional tiramisu also did not disappoint! Would definitely recommend :)
