I dont usually leave reviews but I can't hide my disappointment at the transparency of the charcuterie. I liked that you named the source of the chorizo but neglected to deliver enough for the price tag. Six precision cut slices of meat so thin, they almost evaporated in the strong sunlight. There is no doubt skilled chefs work here. Maybe it was the wrong Friday and supplies wre thin. The booking was made with high hopes. It"s a pity as I left feeling Long Fridays were taking advantage of its customer's with some supremely small plates at steep prices . I appreciate costs are high these days. Even more reason to be more considered where you choose to eat.

If you looking for exceptional food and great service this is the place for you. Wow, what an amazing experience. Food was out of this world, with staff knowledge second to none. Fantastic choice of wine and extremely tasty nonalcoholic drinks to choose from too, all made in house 🤩.

There genuinely isn’t anything that could fault this place from the atmosphere to the service and of course some of the best food I’ve tasted for a long time. The succulent pork and pea fritters particularly stand out along with the incredible donuts and orange wine. Really can’t recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a special meal or just some high quality standout food!

Great little spot in Jesmond with a variety of tasty small plates that are full of flavour and were an absolute delight to eat. A mixture of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes are available. Service was excellent and our waiter helpfully recommended which plates to eat together since we couldn't help but order a lot of food!

Great food, service and atmosphere with a very extensive wine list. Definitely a treat because it can be expensive but well worth a visit. Don’t skip dessert, the doughnuts are the sensational!

We received a warm friendly welcome into this busy little casual restaurant. The food was spectacular, particularly recommend the grilled hake, tender stem broccoli and pea and rocket fritters. The cider and kombucha were delicious. Shame there was no real ale on offer, even though they use a batter made with beer from Wylam a local brewery.

Nice little spot in Jesmond, sister restaurant of Cook House with great flavors all around. It’s a similar small plate dining experience so great to share with friends and have a chat. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and all the staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the food/wine menus. We waited over a hour for our food but it is 100% worth the wait and they have a fabulous selection of drinks to enjoy whilst you wait. Will definitely back!

One of the best meals I've ever had! Based in a lovely venue, with a fantastic menu, everything was outstanding. So many new flavours and showcases fantastic produce. We had only fish and veg dishes which were brill. The puddings were simply brilliant, especially those doughnuts! Wine and drinks lovely.

Second visit with a decent interval in between, and happy to say both were fantastic. Lovely venue, attentive and excellent service and some expertly assembled food which is certainly right at the top end of what Newcastle has to offer at any price point. Can't wait to return.

Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! The cocktails were delicious, I had the grown up peach iced tea - could have enjoyed 5 of them! We tried almost everything on the menu - highlights were the bavette with bone marrow crumb, pork belly and the mutton croquettes, such clever cookery. Finished the meal with the ricotta doughnuts, they’ll be in my thoughts on a daily basis for a long time to come! They were incredible! Will be returning again and couldn’t recommend more!

Simply outstanding! This is one of the most phenomenal meals I've ever had. Where do I start ... Service - friendly, professional, and welcoming. All the staff were amazing. It's the little things that really make a difference, like asking to take your coat when you arrive. When trying to choose from an amazing and taste provoking menu, the staff were knowledgeable to describe the tastes, textures, and even sources of the foods. As a fussy/particular vegetarian they even marked on the menu the things I could eat (of which there was a fantastic choice) and when the food was served they even pointed out the dishes I could eat. An extensive drinks menu, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We had a bottle of red wine and some IPAs. Once again, amazing. I can not describe how amazing this restaurant is. Fantastic food, fantastic service, we've left pleasantly full, and all our taste buds have been tickled. If you're in Jesmond, it is an absolute must to visit! I'm thoroughly impressed and will definitely be back.

Amazing little restaurant in west Jesmond serving up delicious small dishes. Not a cheap dinner out but worth the money. Hake, steak and burrata most tasty. Very attentive and welcoming staff. Looking forward to going back.

Great meal, great wine and lovely service

Visited recently with a friend. The food is based around a sharing concept of multiple small plates. We definitely weren’t disappointed, the food was amazing. It’s not cheap, but was definitely worth it. The service was also really good, the only negative was that it did take quite a while for the food to arrive but that wasn’t really a problem for us as we were happy chatting with our wine.

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner on a Saturday. The restaurant seemed quite busy but the seating layout meant it didn't feel cramped. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about both the drinks menu and the food menu. We ordered the steak, pork belly, cabbage (I'm sure it was a cabbage dish but I can't find it on the menu anymore), pea fritters, and focaccia. The focaccia and topping was superbly paired with a lovely oil. The pea fritters were matched perfectly with a lovely mint sauce - definitely a highlight. The steak was complimented well by a crumble. The cabbage had an amazing charred crumble on top as well. The pork belly was cooked really well and the flavours were great but I found the tonnato quite overpowering but I am not a huge anchovy fan, however my partner quite liked it. Overall, the dishes were masterfully put together, the space is designed well making it cosy but not overwhelming and the staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

Amazing food, honestly some of the best in a while. Particular highlights were the mussels (you could drink the sauce) and the hake, I don’t think I’ve ever had white fish cooked better. The smashed potatoes are also a must. I tried all the sparkling wines which were all thoughtfully selected, especially the champagne - the bartender was lovely and explained them all too us kindly. Service overall was outstanding. We will be back.

In a world of mediocre, Long Friday really stands out. Few independents get it right, but here they've really nailed it. A small but exquisite small plates menu and a classy wine list to match. What's not to like? It was full on a Thursday night, the service was excellent but unobtrusive and the staff knowledgeable and helpful. It's not cheap, but neither is it expensive and we've paid a lot more for frankly dire food on many occasions and left deeply disappointed. Highly recommended.

Absolutely DELICIOUS food, and a fabulous selection of unique wines and cocktails to enjoy alongside. Staff were delightfully and politely casual and lovely to chat to throughout the evening.

The menu is based around small plates of food ie fish meat vegetables and salad. These are small plates so you need to order 2-3 for a meal. At £9-13 per dish this can quickly add up to an expensive meal per person. We ordered from the menu but would describe the food as fairly bland and you had to chose carefully as some dishes did not go together very well. I think this way of setting out the menu is a good way of making money but it cannot be described as value for money for the customer. Judging by the ratings from other people it is very popular but just not for us.

We booked Long Friday for a private event. The food and service were both amazing. It's a spectacular restaurant and a real asset to Jesmond. I highly recommend visiting!

A fab night at Long Friday! We went as a group of 8 students celebrating finishing the year, and all the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food and drinks were all amazing, and the staff were very knowledgeable about allergens on the menu - we had a nut allergy and coeliac in our party and the waiter altered our menus straight away so we knew what we could order. All in all, delicious food, lovely staff, and a beautiful restaurant. Thanks so much, would recommend to everyone!

Nice spot and decor but over rated and overpriced. Has some coriander seeds on a burrada salad which didn’t work at all. The rest of the food was nice but expensive for what it is and portion sizes. Service was very good though, lovely attentive staff

Having been blown away by their sister restaurant in Ouseburn, the high standards have been matched, if not surpassed by this gem of a place in Jesmond. We visited on a lunchtime and were surprised to find we were the only patrons on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. Our party of 5 decided to share our small plates and everyone was blown away by the high standard of all the dishes and the attentive and knowledgeable service. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

We had a fabulous dinner on Saturday night and can’t wait to return. It is a really interesting, unusual menu of ‘tapas-style’ small plates for sharing. We had a mixture of the snack, meat, fish and vegetarian plates and really savoured them all. Everything was beautifully fresh and perfectly cooked with some new flavours that we really enjoyed. The service was excellent - friendly and very efficient and there is a lovely relaxed ambiance.

Top quality in every respect. The food which was ordered as a series of small plates was innovative and delicious and we had a taste of almost all of them. We loved them all but our favourites were House Pickles & Ferments, Fried Sage Leaves, BBQ Squid with Spicy Charcuterie Sauce (stunning), Mussels in Smoked Butter with Peas & Samphire (our 4 year old grandson couldn’t get enough), Bavette Steak with Herb & Bone Marrow Crumb and Curried Pea & Rocket Fritters. We had some excellent wine to accompany and an IPA. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. It’s not a cheap eat by any means but worth every penny. Nearly forgot we had Bomboloni for pudding and watched a 4 year old pop a whole one in his mouth in one go😳

The ambiance was delightful and the staff was courteous, providing exceptional service and demonstrating a sincere interest in explaining the menu. While the cuisine was pleasant, we found the portion sizes to be excessively small relative to the prices we were aware of prior to our arrival. Despite ordering seven small plates between two people and individual desserts, we still felt hungry upon returning home. Additionally, a discretionary 12% service charge was added to our bill. Overall, while the food and service were admirable and the surroundings pleasant, we found the establishment to be overpriced. While I would recommend trying it once, we personally will not be returning, mainly due to the high cost.

One of the best restaurants in Newcastle. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, and fabulous food. It’s all small(ish) plates so getting a selection to share is the way to go. Also have a great wine selection. They don’t have many tables inside so is worth booking to guarantee a space.

Our waiter was so helpful and friendly explained all the dishes what they were and how to order. The food was all amazing the service through out the meal was brilliant. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The flavour combinations were ingenious, and while the menu is varied, it feels like you could order any combination of plates and they would work well together. The cocktails were delicious, too.

Second visit to this lovely neighbourhood sister restaurant of the Cook House. We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. Cool minimalist interior, wonderful staff and of course exceptional food and drink. A varied menu of starters, fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. What we liked was the option to share plates and how often we were pleasantly surprised by the quality, substance and depth (many more ingredients than the title of the dish would suggest) of each dish. It really is an absolute gem of a place.

The food was incredible. Reasonably priced, wide selection of small plates. The dishes were packed with flavour, the decor and tablewear are quirky but charming. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The focus is very much on the food. It sounds like a cliché but it really wasn't just a meal; it was a dining experience. It was entirely out of the comfort zone of my 83 year old father but he has been well and truly converted. It is a crying shame that we live 300 miles away.

What a fantastic find! Unpretentious exterior but inside we were treated to a superb selection of tapas selections much locally sourced. Highly originally and delicious cocktails and an elegant fine coupled with attentive and thoughtful service made for a memorable lunch.

Good selection of dishes - like a British tapas bar - and having shared eleven dishes between four, we can say there wasn’t a bum note there. Baby friendly. Great service, friendly without being false or pushy. Our waiter tried, unasked, to find MeV a source for a particularly nice wine, a fine, extremely dry sherry-like fortified tipple. Not cheap, particularly the drinks. Our suggestion, not worth marking them down for, is that serving dishes for a shared meal should should be hotter. But then some twonk would probably sue them for burns. We advise treating it like a tapas bar, sharing different dishes between at least four people. And try the artichoke crisps and the dip, unless you are a vampire. All in all, unless you are loaded, a great place for an occasion.

Dining experience is like tapas. Lots of small dishes to share, which was great as we could try a bit of everything. They were all delicious, the staff were very attentive and the cocktails were original and very good.

Small plates. Small place. Quite nice. Been to a few restaurants like this in the wider area recently (Route, Lovage, Rebel, Nest). We had 10 plates between two, which was about enough. The sole and the hispi were my favourites. Nothing was that spectacular though. I’d recommend making a reservation and they get quite busy so you may feel a bit rushed at the end.

We’ve been meaning to come here for years, having loved Cookhouse. It was worth the wait, every single plate we ordered was totally delicious. The doughnuts were the star of the night if we had to choose… The service was amazing, the cocktails were great and the price reasonable (much cheaper than the equivalents in the city centre). We’ll be back, we want to try everything!

Very tasty food and interesting menu. Fairly expensive once you have 2/3 dishes each plus drinks but I'd still recommend. Plus good service and decor etc.

Visited here with friends one evening after work following good reviews. Have to say the experience was decidedly average. The plates are around £8-£10 each and the idea is that you order 2-3 plates each. This makes it pretty expensive and the portions aren’t big....

Excellent lunch! Really friendly staff, wonderful decor. Food was so delicious - lovely range of dishes. We shared four of the veg plates between two which did us nicely for lunch. Can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu.

Visiting from Manchester and found this exception restaurant. Sadly most of the cocktail menu was carbonated(I'm unable to drink these) but decided on one that wasn't. It was really delicious, so much so I had 2 😂. The staff were very helpful & attentive without being intrusive. The food is something to behold. We chose to order a few plates to share. The flavours, of all the dishes, married together perfectly. Cannot recommend highly enough.

An excellent evening of delicious small plates. Portions are generous and excellent value, with wines by the bottle or glass to complement. A cosy and relaxed atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. A great experience and will definitely be back.

Don't bother ordering the charcuterie, it's a total rip-off and quite disappointing - you only get 4 thin slices of one meat. Otherwise all the other dishes we tried were very delicious and we had a great service.

The atmosphere had lovely cosy vibes. The waiting staff were amazing. They had a great wine list. I enjoyed my food but sadly was very limited to what I could eat as I have a nut allergy. And a lot of the menu does contain nuts! Still had a lovely time. The bill for 4 people was about £160.
