First class food, service and ambience. one minor criticism is that, despite spending a considerable amount of money, we were asked for our table back for a second siting which was a shame as we spent a lot more on drinks in another venue when these guys could've had our spend. That said, please do not let this detract from experiencing Veeraswamy as it truly is exceptional.

We were having a celebratory meal here and it was fantastic! The ambience and atmosphere was great - the history displayed across the walls & the decor was on point. The team were very attentive and there was a good pace to service as well. The food itself, was bursting with flavour - a good level of spice in all of the dishes we tried & the chutneys as well! Not forgetting one of the drinks too - spicy! It was lovely when they bought out a chocolate ganache with a candle prior to dessert to celebrate our occasion too - a really nice touch. Whilst it's expensive (it's Michellin!), completely worth the price!

We’ve been wanting to go here for a long time and were expecting real quality, so the bar was set high. It was a birthday celebration and we arrived and were seated swiftly, place had nice ambience and staff. We had a cocktail on arrival which was good, £18 each. We ordered the tasting menu and a dahl. The menu included a rice and naan to share. No poppadoms offered. Starter of Green prawn was excellent as was the chicken starter. The 4 curries with the main, the flavours were good, particularly the lobster curry, the others were good, if a little underwhelming. I preferred the dahl and left some chicken and lamb. The Dahl was amazing.. one of the best we’ve had. Pre dessert they brought out a birthday sorbet which was lovely. Nice experience but not really the Michelin star food and experience we had envisioned. That said, give it a try. The food is very good but there are many good places around cheaper, with just as good service and experience. We had a bottle of wine and table water - the bill £320 with service charge. We would go again but order off main menu, many dishes we saw looked very good.

It was nice but perhaps a little flat. I came expecting a challenger to Gymkhana but Veeraswamy doesn't *quite* compare. Don't get me wrong, the Tandoori Raan Kebab with Yakhni Pulao was incredible. Also the Kheema Ghotala on Toast. Maybe the weekday menu is better?

Food was a tad average but nice. Good portion sizes of the mains. Perhaps the choices available to us on the Weekend lunch menu were not representative of their skill. My fave was Kheema Ghotala on Toast (s) and Tandoori Raan Kebab with Yakhni Pulao (m). Service was lovely and attentive

A British modern take on Indian. It is not cheap but well worth it for a special evening out. The scallops for a starter was great even though it was spicy but not too hot. The lamb shank was melt in the mouth and flavorful. Black carrot dessert as a flambé.

As usual Veeraswamy is a fantastic experience. Great service; great food (an excellent new menu by the way!) and wonderful ambience. I am always pleased that there are a wide mix of diners from all over the world, including many from the south Asian sub continent which has got to be a good sign. There is also a good mix of couples, families and business associates. It's a really great atmosphere. And, then of course, there is always Sonja......thank you!

Lovely decor, warm ambiance, and beautiful, delicious food. And there’s a lot of it. The tendency is to overorder (and they pack it beautifully) but don’t hold back — you’ll miss it! If you like spice and you like heat it’s there, and smoother, light heat too. Service is attentive. Some highlights - the chicken “lollipops,” grilled scallops, the chicken tikka, lamb chops, and biryani to feed a family.

Veeraswamy offers exceptional Indian cuisine with vibrant flavors and beautifully presented dishes. The Tandoori prawns were perfectly cooked. However, the service fell short. Despite a reservation, we faced delays in being seated, and the staff was inattentive throughout the meal, making it hard to get their attention. We assumed it was complimentary but it was not. The paneer starter and kachori were nice but the mains were not special at all. We visited this in Aug-24. It was for a birthday meal. The service was great and the restaurant looked better when the sun was setting and they turned the lighting on, as it had more of a romantic feel. The service was great and cannot complain. The waiter was very helpful and gave advice and also was on hand to deal with everything. We ordered multiple dishes, wanting to try a variety and the waiter did inform us how much we needed but as we mentioned we wanted to try a variety of dishes he understood. Any leftover food we took home and they packed it for us. Overall the food was lovely, however their lamb Chops wasn't as we expected vs other same calibre restaurants. It came with a sauce which we didn't expect. They had a nice biryani and the Momos had a twist but also a slight chilli kick (not too much though). Total cost 2 people - £268.88 Great experience, great food, great evening and great restaurant. I would recommend and come back here. A bit on the pricey side vs equivalent restaurants, so not 100% it's full value for money, but definitely worth a visit.

We had a celebratory dinner at Veeraswamy for my parent’s anniversary. This is a great flagship restaurant (not going to lie, I felt astonished by the interior more than the food) under the India Collection. The oldest Indian restaurant in London and possibly in the entire UK. But don’t get me wrong, the food is delicious indeed but not as quite on par with the price levels. Starters are a bit pricey for an Indian restaurant compared to its sister’s restaurant (Masala Zone) and some of its relatively cheaper competitors. Also where I live I can easily get access to lots of Indian food options within a few mins away. Hence it wasn’t that authentic as I felt, just a cool clever branded restaurant. Go for the experience regardless. Mains were limited to basically duck, chicken and just one-two fish and lamb dishes. The food options felt basic, dessert menu was quite interesting because it sounded very authentic and locally Indian than the mains and starters. However, the menu selection does offer vegetarian and Halal options. The options are great in size for the table to share. The place has a ton of history. The decoration highlights this and adds to the atmosphere of the place. The staff were polite and welcoming. They knew the menu very well and were able to help with questions and selection. It is pricey for a reason (it’s a Michelin starred and we spend £278) so do bear this in mind before stepping in this ostentatious place. Again, the price may not reflect on the quality of the food standards, but it’s a worth an adventure to encounter. You’ll be looked after well, the waiters are very friendly and approachable. Not the usual crowd you’ll notice in other basic Indian restaurant elsewhere in London.

My family and I have supported the Veeraswamy for as long as I can remember, but hadn't visited for some time and so decided to book a table. The day before our reservation we received a very curt message detailing various requirements that we had to satisfy upon our visit : dress code, age limits and even a minimum spend requirement, all topped off with an exorbitant cancellation charge. Due to other events on the same day as our reservation we weren't able to satisfy all of their requirements and had to cancel, leaving us trying to find an alternative venue with less than 24 hours notice. Rest assured we will NOT be paying any cancellation charges. I understand the desire to raise standards since they received their Michelin star, but both the tone and the timing of the message were unacceptable. Putting the customer in this position on the day before their reservation is bad enough, but threatening to charge them for the privilege truly defies belief.

First Michelin Star Experience: Had lunch with friends at Veeraswamy, and there's no strict dress code for lunch, just smart casual—so no tracksuits, torn jeans, or baseball caps, and try to avoid bringing backpacks if possible. The food was fantastic, truly up to the Michelin star standard, with impeccable presentation. My most favourite one was the lamb chops. Why am I saying this? Probably lamb chops cooked in an Indian style is to live for and die for. I also enjoyed the Pineapple juice, it was probably the best one I'll have till I die. Overall, we had a delightful meal, and the staff were very polite. The desserts were good, though not quite on par with other Michelin star restaurants per my friend's thoughts. This was my first Michelin star experience, and I'm looking forward to many more in the future. PS: Children under 10 are strictly not allowed.

Some indian places have extremely long menues (not always a bad thing), that's not the case here but they still offer wonderful choices and variety. Starters were the memorable prawns ( amazing ) and the not so amazing seekh kebabs which were a little undercooked. Our mains which were presented at table far too quickly included the awesome butter chicken and excellent veggies apart from the yellow dhal which was watery and lacked flavour. We were given a complimentary dessert which was greatly appreciated added to our own choice of sorbets rounded off the evening. **Veeraswamy: A Michelin-Starred Journey Through Time** Stepping into Veeraswamy on Regent Street feels like entering a different era. Known as London's oldest Indian restaurant, this Michelin-starred establishment has been a cornerstone of the city's dining scene for almost a century, and it’s easy to see why. Awesome is the only word that comes to my mind after having a splendid dinner at Veeraswamy. Food, service, ambiance, everything is top notch. Everything that we ordered was tasty, full of flavours and not very heavy. Would definitely come back soon.

A high end Indian restaurant with character but the food was rather bland and pitched at the tourist trade

Excellent food, great staff. We were a bit apprehensive with the mixed reviews of this place, but we were totally bowled over! Loved the angara chicken tikka, the chicken makhani au vin, and naan. The devon crab biryani was nice, but there were tiny shell fragments all in the rice, which made it unpleasant to eat. When we told them they offered a replacement or a free dessert and we were too full to accept either. It's a blowout place, so the price to food value may be steep on the pockets, but considering its unique twists, it's a great place for a big celebration!!

Wonderful dining experience and worth every penny. The place is very calm and quiet. Ambience overlooking the regent street from the first floor gives a stellar experience. £45 for 3 course meal in a Michelin star restaurant is a very reasonable price in London. We were a family of three and loved every dish we tasted. Bori Chicken Biriyani and Chicken tikka stole the show. A restaurant that is almost 100 years old in the heart of London dishing out mouthwatering dishes is a must try …

I didn't like the taste, the service, or the price of the food. I once found myself adding more biryani with water in it, and our cost for two people was 290 pounds!!

Duty bound not just to write about the failures I encounter; here's an abject winner, always. Take the set menu and add top-ups, the uncanny ability of the waiter to do perfect pours of a not-so-ridiculous wine list. Then, having over-ordered and taking the remnants home to find all the pots were full, it's as if someone had mischievously topped them up! No! It wouldn't happen, would it? Anyway, thank you, yet again. Loved it.

Wonderful, delightful Indian meal that hit the spot for us after visiting the Frameless Art exhibition. We ordered the chicken lollipops, daal, Pani puri and the chicken biryani . Daal, chicken biryani were outstanding. Pani puri.... Something different to try with an explosion of flavorful. Not too impressed by chicken lollipops which were essentially fried chicken with a tasty coriander/ chili sauce. The lollipops were not hot enough temperature wise. However, other than this small critique, service was professional, kind and friendly. Discretionary service charge already included in bill at 12.5%. Thank you to the kind, attentive hostess who noticed my friend had difficulty going down the stairs to get to the bathrooms. She immediately escorted her to the elevator hidden by a curtain.
