Easy to find table. All dishes were very tasty and balanced. Menu and cocktails were not extremely creative. We were intrigued by the spinach crisps and they were delicious. Servers were courteous and attentive. Atmosphere was that of a nice Indian restaurant a little bit too formal for modern taste. Overall we were looking for a special Indian meal and it lived up to our expectations.

The entrance is located in an adjacent passage, the doorman greets you and announces your arrival at reception. Lift to the 1st floor overlooking Regent Street. Smiling welcome. A great classic, this restaurant. Always excellent service: attentive and discreet. Never the slightest false note. The trays loaded with steaming dishes whose scent teases the appetite. The intoxicating smell of spices, grilled meats, rich sauces, great classics of Indian cuisine. Above all, the opulent biryani, served in a Staub casserole dish, topped with a banana leaf. The powerful smell of saffron. Lamb that melts in the mouth. Lamb shank wrapped in golden, crumbly dough, cooked for 6 hours. Number of vegetarian dishes (including lentil dal), intelligent selections that take you on a journey. And what is rare in Indian restaurants: delicate desserts, not too sweet or stuffy. Well dosed, not sickening, therefore irresistible. Kulfis (ice creams) with pistachio, cardamom and saffron. Phirni (a type of thick, spicy rice pudding garnished with dried fruits). Halva and plum tart. Carrot and pistachio press, flambéed with Cognac. Gulab jamun, a type of baba fried then soaked in syrup (and served with a scoop of refreshing ice cream).

A very large, extremely touristy restaurant, probably seating over 200, in multiple dining areas. With children welcomed. Not surprising - it's only two blocks to Piccadilly Circus. Sadly, I found the servers to be inconsistent and not communicating, six (!) servers asked me the same question in the first 10 minutes. And then nothing for 20 minutes. There is visibly a brigade system, captain, servers, bussers, etc., …but obviously not stringently enforced. Uh oh. Strange, for a restaurant that claims to have been serving for 99 years. Unfortunately, I was brought 2 starters at the same time, so one got a little cold. At least, almost all the mains are served in warming server plates. The food was not bad, but there seemed to be an overemphasis on the sauces: The Bhalla Papdi Chaat - lentil dumplings served “splashed” with yoghurt & chutneys. Sorry. I meant, “drowned.” Or, the Nargisi Lamb Kebab Curry, a minced lamb kebab stuffed with a quail egg… Not Scotch eggs, not at all. Nope. This version is floating in a Curry sauce soup. The sauce emphasis is… quantity. Wine list has less than 20 bottles, which could be understandable, but more surprising was the limited numbers of vegetarian plates. I may return, but probably not soon. 2025 03 30. M1.

I don’t know how they won Michelin star in the first place. I ordered there 3 most famous starters and all 3 were horrible and undercooked. The chicken was basic and half cooked, the prawn was rubbery and undercooked, lamb was ok but still not worth the hype. I did not had the courage of ordering main course after trying the starters. Not worth the hype, there are better Indian restaurants to try in London than this. Please don’t waste your money, time & energy.

Dining at a Michelin Star restaurant ⭐️ We dined at Veeraswamy last weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the vibe to hospitality to food everything was top notch. The wait staff David and Nisha were exemplary in their service and David was also knowledgeable about the speciality and ingredients within every dish. There was ample space between each dish being brought to the table and this made sure we never felt rushed. As we mentioned it was a special ocassion, the restaurant even surprised us with a birthday dessert! We opted for 3 course set menu. Their portions were huge and we definitely over estimated our appetite! Their signature Anglo Indian Mullygatawny soup was rich, filling and delicious but my personal favorite starter was the Calcutta beetroot croquettes in Bhutanese Stilton sauce. This dish hit the perfect flavor notes. Coming to mains, Vegetarian Silver Crescent looked regal and the bhagare baingan was a hit. Paneer Gulzar had the most soft paneer I have ever had and a rich gravy. As for the dessert, while caramelised banana kulfi was great, their signature kala jamun with salted caramel gelato was definitely the show stopper! Overall our lunch was relaxed, savoring flavorful dishes in a great setup. Kudos to David and Nisha for making our dining experience a memorable one.

We went to veeraswamy yesterday, no doubt their food is really good, but the service was not satisfying at all, for this kind of service i would never pay what ive paid, the staff lacks professionalism/not trained properly. The server in our area was a bit clumsy, dropped a thing or two here and there, also the lady as a helper was clumsy as well as when it got busy you could see she was kind of finding it difficult. We gave her our dessert order, waited for about 30mins asked her how long it was for our desserts, and she said its just coming. Our tea was ordered with the desserts, and we got the tea straight away, also poured into our cups, so by the time our delayed desserts came, the tea was cold. Then our server came and said that there was an error in our system so your desserts will be another few mins. I have worked in the hospitality sector myself, and i definitely know when someone says “there was an error in our system” specially when someone has forgotten to put an order through. The manager as well as the server apologized themselves, even though we didnt say anything. I mean if you have a long delay in anything and specially when theres a server mistake like that, you do get a good/extra gesture from the restaurant-dessert being on the house, or something on the bill as complimentary, or any good gesture, specially when youre a michelin star, your customer interaction is a level above the rest. Also, we asked the lady to get our remainders packed for takeaway, she also made a confirmation by pointing out, which food should be packed, and i also pointed out to the lamb briyani, dilkush chicken, and the chicken makhani. We only got a bit of lamb briyani, a few spoons in a box (with out the lamb) no dilkush chicken at all. Come on guys isnt this a michelin star restaurant? I asked for the service charge to be removed, they have a policy of their 50% service charge being discretionary, and the sever came back and verbally told us, still after our desserts were delayed for so long. We didnt argue because of the delay we missed our train, didnt wanna miss the next train. Weve been to restaurants that arent michelin star but have a sublime customer service. We were really disappointed. Im gonna attach our bill.

This was my 1st visit and I brought my 85 year old Anglo Indian mum to celebrate her birthday. Such a wonderful experience from the moment we stepped through the door downstairs to the exceptional food and cocktails, tried the 1926, delicious! The staff were very attentive and Nadia was very knowledgeable of the restaurants history and made a lovely fuss of my mum! She had a lovely birthday surprise cake and candle and she thoroughly enjoyed her evening and said she would love to return one day! This to me was a priceless experience we shall treasure, just what I wanted for her! Mum lived in Calcutta and left for England, by boat. when she was 14 with her family. I never knew about the history of Veera Swarmy until there that night!! What a surprise it was and to see the menu that brought back so many memories for her!! A huge thank you!

Excellent Service and Excellent Food. We went to Veeraswamy for weekend lunch, indeed an amazing experience. After a warm welcome, our family was offered a nice corner table. The restaurant had a very warm feeling, good decor and overall cleanliness was good. For cocktails, we ordered Stormy Monk and Lychee & Rose Martini. The monk drink was a punchy drink with sweet notes. The Martini was sweet. For starters, we ordered chicken lollipop and kheema gotala. The chicken lollipop which was cooked to perfection where the chicken was tender yet crunchy, for the keema, the lamb was cooked to perfection with correct blend of spices served on a bread along with a fried egg. For the main course, we ordered Butter Chicken Masala, Tandoori Raan Kebab with Yakhni Pulao and and Chicken Dilkush. I must say all the dishes were cooked to perfection and were very very delicious. Butter Chicken was sweet , creamy, and tangy served with fluffy lught naan. The lamb was so tender that it could be cut by a spoon, the gravy was smooth with subtle notes of rose water and garnished with flaky almonds. I loved that offered a complimentary desert for our anniversary. Will recommend this place anytime for an authentic Indian restaurant.

First experience at Veeraswamy- warm welcoming atmosphere. The starters were supremely good with a tandoori prawn and chicken tikka stuffed with nut. Amongst the best. Whilst the appearance and serving of the main course was excellent, on the actual taste side Things then became average at the main course with a slightly rubbery lobster curry, a very underspiced lamb and an ok butter chicken. The pineapple curry was nice and interesting. The dessert completely disappointed - a kala jam turned out to be an ultra sweet glorified gulab jam - that was a big let down.

Right, so here we go ! Another Michelin star Indian restaurant in Mayfair. I haven’t visited this restaurant since the pandemic so decided to go again as they seem to keep retaining their Michelin star. In short, I was disappointed. We ordered the non vegetarian platter as shown in pic below. There are 6 items on the platter and it costs £60/- ! 1 seekh =£10/- ! Wow .. it’s not even scallops or something fancy ! These seekh kebabs you can get for 1-2£ in east London. Anyway found the whole platter super expensive and also not top quality in terms of taste too. I am originally from Delhi so I do know how beautiful North Indian cuisine tastes. Anyway we ordered butter chicken and lamb biryani. I think it was all ordinary and nothing was like super delicious. In my opinion better butter chicken is available in other Indian restaurants in London. Biryani was ok but again nothing stood out. Right, we paid more than 100 plus per person and it felt it was more for the location of the restaurant rather than for food and of course as they have a Michelin star the prices will be higher than other places. I guess not for me .. there is a new genre of indian restaurants opening up in London which have more unique food and probably better value for money. ( and more delicious too in my opinion )

I tavoli troppo ravvicinati e male illuminati. Abbiamo ordinato 2 antipasti e 2 piatti principali e 2 dolci.

Without a doubt one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. I’ve found when it comes to Michelin-starred Indian restaurants, apart from the service there’s two aspects that make a restaurant exceptional. The food has to be unapologetic and uncompromising. Most places get one right. But very very few establishments excel on both fronts. Veeraswamy takes the crown among Indian restaurants. My mouth still waters whenever I remember the tasting menu.

Sure, you could get lucky in Birmingham, Manchester or Bradford and find food just as enjoyable, with ‘similar’ high quality ingredients, for less than half the price. You wouldn't recognize Veeraswamy as a star restaurant either from the interior or from the language on the plates. However, the taste is very different from a normal Indian. I've never eaten such fluffy rice! The best rice ever! The curry masala was also bombastic. Absolutely creamy, harmonious, a mild spiciness, perfectly seasoned. Simply delicious. We also had a lamb curry, which we didn't like in terms of taste. The curry itself was good, but the lamb tasted like really old meat. I don't know if this is a general Indian phenomenon, but I've never had good lamb in an Indian restaurant. We gave the star restaurant a chance, but here too the lamb tasted like old mutton. Apart from that, all the dishes were good to outstanding. Conclusion: recommendation

Service was excellent. Wait staff was attentive and prompt. We started off with couple of cocktails. We got the lychee & rose, and the spiced cucumber & mint margarita. The lychee & rose was very good; Very refreshing. The margarita was interesting, For starter we got the bori soya mince samosa which was cooked to perfection and was flavorful. It came with green and tamarind sauce which were excellent. We also got the tandoori lamb barrah kabob, and my god! It was so good- very tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and very flavorful! Highly recommend this item. For main we got chicken dilkush, very slow cooked Kashmiri lamb, and the Hyderabad lamb biryani. All three entries were cooked to perfection, meat was tender and juicy, the sauces were very flavorful, and perfectly balanced seasoning of salt, acid, sweet, and spice. I was brought by my family to Veeraswamy as a nine year old child in 1972 . I was so overexcited at my first ever visit to London that by the time we arrived at this amazing restaurant, I had to lie down and sleep on a chaise longue with all the coats and sadly I missed out on dinner! This has been a lifelong regret of mine, so when I recounted this tale to my new husband after seeing Veeraswamy featured on The Antique Roadshow, we decided to come for lunch . The whole experience was a delight and without exaggeration I can vouch that it is the best restaurant meal I have ever tasted. After much deliberation over the sumptuous choice of delights on offer, we opted for the tasting menu and every morsel was a sight to behold and a taste sensation. Tried the taster menu which was simply delicious. Would thoroughly recommend this. The drinks cost an arm and a leg - £12.50 for 500ml lager. Seemed over the top. However the service was good and the restaurant had great ambiance.

The food was delicious and tasty , I really enjoyed the soup ( I believe it has little diced apple), I recommend the chicken masala with white rice it is good to order their delicious garlic nan bread. Moreover, the staff were friendly and they were very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for tasty Indian cuisine.

Very nice restaurant that we had to leave after 5 minutes. A minimum consumption of £60 per person is required; even if we point out that we are not a little hungry. Unacceptable to push consumption to this extent. Glad I didn't leave €1 there!

Warm welcome at the door from Martin who remembered us from last year! Great authentic food, ice cream portions were a little small. Will definitely return.

Outstanding beet Indian food experience in 32 years in London. Great starters, lovely mains and excellent service to have made our anniversary special. Joseph as Manager, Angelo and Sanjita served us brilliantly. Highly recommend visiting to partake of this lunch menu.

Went here for my sons birthday . From the welcoming lovely smiling doorman all the staff were very attentive. The decor and vibe was very nice. We chose the taster menu and added a lamb shank which was all 1st class alot of food and well worth the money in my opinion. There were 5 of us and with taster menu 2 bottles of wine plus cocktails it came to £150 per head which sounds alot to most people who are used to a normal curry house but this place is a very nice treat for a special occasion

This is the oldest Indian restaurant in London, where you can enjoy food over 2 floors of seating over regents street. Getting five stars for a Indian restaurant in London is now a tough business, and I find the menu limited for vegetarians, but what arrived was good The salted lassi is great, not too heavy, not too light. Service was excellent, you’re greeted by an old-fashioned doorman which was a nice touch!

Coming from Houston, this place lacked flavor. I understand they cater to many pallets, but this was just too bland. Technique was good, but don't shy from authenticity, especially when the whole world knows British cuisine is already lackluster

Wonderful experience. Friendly staff, great unforgettable food, perfect evening. Decent value for money, considering the Michelin star. Only remark: ambience can be improved.

The vibe and decor is really nice. The service was prompt and friendly but a few too many interruptions to see how we were doing. Flavour was better than expected for Indian food in London. Starters were a lot nicer than the mains. Great mocktails, mango lassi a bit in the bland side but that might suit some people.

We were in London on vacation and were referred here by a colleague of mine as a must-try. I’m glad I took him up on it. We arrived a bit early before they officially opened and had a lovely chat with the doorman for a bit while they got ready to open. We were made to feel welcome and appreciated from the very beginning. The service was attentive, precise, and courteous. The restaurant was gorgeous inside with a great view of Regent Street. The food was absolutely delicious. Easily the best Indian food I’ve ever had, and one of the best meals in general I’ve had. Both my wife and I had nothing but good things to say from the appetizers, drinks, main courses and dessert. It’s not somewhere you would come all the time, and therefore the price is worth it for the experience, in my opinion.

You know a reastaurant is not going to be worth it when you don't see anyone from the cuisines ethnicity eating there. Food was ok but not worth the price paid for it. You can get the same cusine in tooting/ east london for fraction of the price. It's really not worth the hype.

Unfortunately not a 1* Michelin Restaurant. Maximum an average good Indian Restauranr. We came with high expectations, but realised how easy a Michelin Star is given. Even the welcoming was downstairs in a small and full entrance. The waiters tried hard but not on a michelin star quality. Restaurant and interior is not better than any average Indian restaurant. Food was presented less than average and cocktails were also not really tasty or as described in thr menue. therefore only 1* at google but NOT Guide Michelin!!

Service was a little quick at times then slow at others. Poppadoms were very bland and a bit soft which was disappointing. Everything else was delicious though!

This difference between Veerswarmy and other high-end and Michelin star Indian restaurants is that whilst the food is executed and presented perfectly it also has an entirely non-technical factor that makes for the ultimate happiness of taste, texture and (what I'm going to call) "tummy yumminess"!

First time visiting the establishment, Food lack of flavour? Definitely room for improvement? Compare traditional authentic curry restaurants. We do know that they are trying to cook dishes from all over India 🇮🇳 but there’s much better curry houses in and around London when you do comparison service, quality, flavours, taste, portion size, the price tags? My own opinion maybe the restaurant try to be different my observation and experience. Poppadom tray and the garnishes came with I wasn’t impressed by and there wasn’t any wow about it, it would be fine sometimes just to have normal traditional poppadoms, rather then make things too complicated. Starter was scallop it was too small for £20 price tag? and it was warm rather than hot heat wise and it was lack of flavour not in Spice away just didn’t have a lot seasoning. Lamb chop as a main course that was tender and nice but too much mustard flavour overpowered and lack of sauces around should it be 4 lamb chop not 3! for the price tag? £38, definitely Room for improvement. Bread basket can taste the chilli and garlic was fine. I think it was too doughy and thick should be nice and crispy and tin layer room for improvement! Tarka dal was good yellow chickpeas. Cauliflower side dish was good as well. Overall experience was okay and nice touch in the end little birthday chocolate mousse cake. Question do I want to visit and spent £244 again with the drinks cocktail glass of wine and sparkling water and ginger beer and the service charge! as well, probably not! there’s much better restaurants in London areas like Nepalese Pakistani Bangladeshi and north and South Indian curry houses just as good as near me that will cost for two people similar menu £94 including service charge. At the end when the bill came they wasn’t any hot towels and small chocolates to wash off your pallets? I have to ask for the hot towels otherwise I wouldn’t get one? room for improvement there definitely 👍

More of a 4.3 or 4.4 experience overall. The ambiance, location and service were all fantastic and we had a nice window seat overlooking the hustle and bustle of regent street. The food started out really strong with some great appetizers like the lamb kebab and peneer but the mains lacked a bit of a kick and felt a bit underwhelming from a flavour perspective. It just lacked the richness in flavor and spices that you would expect from a top quality Indian restaurant. The biryani in particular felt a bit bland and the naan was a bit too doughy. Overall a solid experience but maybe our expectations were higher due to the price point and 2023 Michelin star. The dessert was a banana kulfi which was excellent though!

Amazing food, really well trained staff (that is overly ambitious to give you the right food for you). Went there with my mum who dislikes most of the spices in Indian food - asked the waiter what he could recommend in her case and he nailed it, she was really happy. We had a lamb curry and a paneer Naga. Really easy to order because you can basically "mix and match". Thanks to the heaters we could sit outside although it was a little bit chill. Normally I find something to complain, but right now it is hard to think of something I am missing.

I was dining alone and opted for the pre-theatre menu at £29 plus £5 extra for dessert. The service was flawless from start to finish and was paced really well so I never felt rushed. The food was fantastic. It began with well presented starter which was full of colour, flavour and texture. The main course was lovely with a selection of four tasty dishes accompanied by rice and naan bread. I tried the Kala Jamun dessert which was sweet and sticky and perfectly complemented with ice cream. The pre-theatre menu is fantastic value and I look forward to returning soon.
