Romantic lunch reserved for my birthday. The setting is magnificent, superb decor, even the staff wear pretty outfits. Lots of Indians in the restaurant, that’s a good sign! Indeed, we enjoyed the cocktail with the main course (we did not have dessert). I found that the choice was varied and everything seemed appetizing. The prices are correct, especially for a starred restaurant. We had a great time and will come back with our children!

Outstanding food. We had dinner here after hearing rave reviews and we were not disappointed! Very good menu selection, understated decor and superb service. Every dish was a delight! Perfectly cooked, balance of flavours and textures made one smile. Spice levels were just right. Many options for vegetarians too. A must visit if you like Indian food!

First experience at Veeraswamy- warm welcoming atmosphere. The starters were supremely good with a tandoori prawn and chicken tikka stuffed with nut. Amongst the best. Whilst the appearance and serving of the main course was excellent, on the actual taste side Things then became average at the main course with a slightly rubbery lobster curry, a very underspiced lamb and an ok butter chicken. The pineapple curry was nice and interesting. The dessert completely disappointed - a kala jam turned out to be an ultra sweet glorified gulab jam - that was a big let down.

Great experience going here. Food was very well cooked and fantastic flavours. The lamb dishes we had were especially good - the Lamb Biryani was one of their classics and it was delightful. We had Sonia (I think) to look after us and she's great. Very professional and helpful - a real credit to the place. Definitely recommend this place for a treat visit - it's quite pricey. It seems to have been decorated in the maximalist style however some of it doesn't work on the eye fully - may need an update in some areas.

One Michelin star The nearly century-old Indian restaurant is also the oldest Indian restaurant in the UK It is said to have been opened by a British general and an Indian Mughal princess. Named one of the top ten best destinations and specialty restaurants in the world by National Geographic, I really love Indian food! There is a shop assistant who is so cute! I must order it as he recommended, hahaha, but it was really delicious and he made me a separate portion of crab rice. ! great!

Right, so here we go ! Another Michelin star Indian restaurant in Mayfair. I haven’t visited this restaurant since the pandemic so decided to go again as they seem to keep retaining their Michelin star. In short, I was disappointed. We ordered the non vegetarian platter as shown in pic below. There are 6 items on the platter and it costs £60/- ! 1 seekh =£10/- ! Wow .. it’s not even scallops or something fancy ! These seekh kebabs you can get for 1-2£ in east London. Anyway found the whole platter super expensive and also not top quality in terms of taste too. I am originally from Delhi so I do know how beautiful North Indian cuisine tastes. Anyway we ordered butter chicken and lamb biryani. I think it was all ordinary and nothing was like super delicious. In my opinion better butter chicken is available in other Indian restaurants in London. Biryani was ok but again nothing stood out. Right, we paid more than 100 plus per person and it felt it was more for the location of the restaurant rather than for food and of course as they have a Michelin star the prices will be higher than other places. I guess not for me .. there is a new genre of indian restaurants opening up in London which have more unique food and probably better value for money. ( and more delicious too in my opinion )

I tavoli troppo ravvicinati e male illuminati. Abbiamo ordinato 2 antipasti e 2 piatti principali e 2 dolci.

I went on 20/01/2025 for my boyfriend's birthday and unfortunately we had a bad experience there, the waiters were taking forever to come over when we arrived and then the worst happened, my boyfriend got food poisoning on the same night when we were coming home and it has been almost a week and just now he is recovering. He had the butter masala chicken, the pineapple curry and the lemon rice. In the end he also had the birthday cake they gave us, but I dont think this was the issue as he was throwing up the pineapple a lot.

Without a doubt one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. I’ve found when it comes to Michelin-starred Indian restaurants, apart from the service there’s two aspects that make a restaurant exceptional. The food has to be unapologetic and uncompromising. Most places get one right. But very very few establishments excel on both fronts. Veeraswamy takes the crown among Indian restaurants. My mouth still waters whenever I remember the tasting menu.

You wouldn't recognize Veeraswamy as a star restaurant either from the interior or from the language on the plates. However, the taste is very different from a normal Indian. I've never eaten such fluffy rice! The best rice ever! The curry masala was also bombastic. Absolutely creamy, harmonious, a mild spiciness, perfectly seasoned. Simply delicious. We also had a lamb curry, which we didn't like in terms of taste. The curry itself was good, but the lamb tasted like really old meat. I don't know if this is a general Indian phenomenon, but I've never had good lamb in an Indian restaurant. We gave the star restaurant a chance, but here too the lamb tasted like old mutton. Apart from that, all the dishes were good to outstanding. Conclusion: recommendation

What a beautiful restaurant. Very spacious with areas for large group as well as intimate dinner dates. Went on a premade reservation for a table for 4. We arrived early but seated right away. Service was excellent. Wait staff was attentive and prompt. We started off with couple of cocktails. We got the lychee & rose, and the spiced cucumber & mint margarita. The lychee & rose was very good; Very refreshing. The margarita was interesting, For starter we got the bori soya mince samosa which was cooked to perfection and was flavorful. It came with green and tamarind sauce which were excellent. We also got the tandoori lamb barrah kabob, and my god! It was so good- very tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and very flavorful! Highly recommend this item. For main we got chicken dilkush, very slow cooked Kashmiri lamb, and the Hyderabad lamb biryani. All three entries were cooked to perfection, meat was tender and juicy, the sauces were very flavorful, and perfectly balanced seasoning of salt, acid, sweet, and spice. The lamb biryani, and Kashmiri lamb were both highly recommend. Overall an exceptional dining experience and we would definitely be returning. A Michelin star well deserved.

I was brought by my family to Veeraswamy as a nine year old child in 1972 . I was so overexcited at my first ever visit to London that by the time we arrived at this amazing restaurant, I had to lie down and sleep on a chaise longue with all the coats and sadly I missed out on dinner! This has been a lifelong regret of mine, so when I recounted this tale to my new husband after seeing Veeraswamy featured on The Antique Roadshow, we decided to come for lunch . The whole experience was a delight and without exaggeration I can vouch that it is the best restaurant meal I have ever tasted. After much deliberation over the sumptuous choice of delights on offer, we opted for the tasting menu and every morsel was a sight to behold and a taste sensation. The service from start to finish was impeccable and I can’t wait until we come again . First time visiting the establishment, Food lack of flavour? Definitely room for improvement? Compare traditional authentic curry restaurants. We do know that they are trying to cook dishes from all over India 🇮🇳 but there’s much better curry houses in and around London when you do comparison service, quality, flavours, taste, portion size, the price tags? My own opinion maybe the restaurant try to be different my observation and experience. Poppadom tray and the garnishes came with I wasn’t impressed by and there wasn’t any wow about it, it would be fine sometimes just to have normal traditional poppadoms, rather then make things too complicated. Starter was scallop it was too small for £20 price tag? and it was warm rather than hot heat wise and it was lack of flavour not in Spice away just didn’t have a lot seasoning. Lamb chop as a main course that was tender and nice but too much mustard flavour overpowered and lack of sauces around should it be 4 lamb chop not 3! for the price tag? £38, definitely Room for improvement. Bread basket can taste the chilli and garlic was fine. I think it was too doughy and thick should be nice and crispy and tin layer room for improvement! Tarka dal was good yellow chickpeas. Cauliflower side dish was good as well. Overall experience was okay and nice touch in the end little birthday chocolate mousse cake. Question do I want to visit and spent £244 again with the drinks cocktail glass of wine and sparkling water and ginger beer and the service charge! as well, probably not! there’s much better restaurants in London areas like Nepalese Pakistani Bangladeshi and north and South Indian curry houses just as good as near me that will cost for two people similar menu £94 including service charge. At the end when the bill came they wasn’t any hot towels and small chocolates to wash off your pallets? I have to ask for the hot towels otherwise I wouldn’t get one? room for improvement there definitely 👍

More of a 4.3 or 4.4 experience overall. The ambiance, location and service were all fantastic and we had a nice window seat overlooking the hustle and bustle of regent street. The food started out really strong with some great appetizers like the lamb kebab and peneer but the mains lacked a bit of a kick and felt a bit underwhelming from a flavour perspective. It just lacked the richness in flavor and spices that you would expect from a top quality Indian restaurant. The biryani in particular felt a bit bland and the naan was a bit too doughy. Overall a solid experience but maybe our expectations were higher due to the price point and 2023 Michelin star. The dessert was a banana kulfi which was excellent though!

We had an amazing dinner experience, starting from the reception and the atmosphere to the quality of the food and overall service. The price quality range was perfect. Many thanks to the whole team, highly recommended!

Would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was very good as well. Reservations are tricky to get as it’s a very busy restaurant and tends to require two weeks reservation notice

One of the most beautiful Indian restaurants in London with five-star food and service But advice to those who are concerned: Spoons and forks are all silver, and there is nothing else that we have left until after we have finished, unfortunately.

Absolutely poor service. When we asked for recommendations, we got little to zero advice. Couple of plates we ordered didn’t come out at all. When it came to mains, we ordered fish, which we were told it wouldn’t be dry. It turned out to be dry and we ordered naan bread. So it was all a waste and a complete mess of an experience.

I really wanted to love this place, but had a fairly disappointing experience. My mum and dad visited Veeraswamy in the 1970s and dad said it was, hands down, the best Indian meal he'd ever had! So, for a special birthday treat, I saved up and took him there for dinner. I had such high hopes, but sadly, it just wasn't what I was expecting. The staff were attentive and the restaurant nice enough, but with the Micheline starred rating and the very expensive price tag, I has assumed the food would be exceptional. It was fine, but we both agreed we'd had better curries for a 3rd of the price. At over £80 per head, it just wasn't worth the money.

Was good food, service and atmosphere, but I don’t think it’s commensurate with the steep price, hence one star down.

Lovely restaurant- fine dining Indian in the heart of Soho. We went here for a pre-theatre meal which was delicious with generous portions. Excellent bar and drinks too.

First class food, service and ambience. one minor criticism is that, despite spending a considerable amount of money, we were asked for our table back for a second siting which was a shame as we spent a lot more on drinks in another venue when these guys could've had our spend. That said, please do not let this detract from experiencing Veeraswamy as it truly is exceptional.

Didn’t expect to be ignored by staff and for them to only address my husband. From the start, and each time they came to the table to check how the food was, they only spoke to him and didn’t acknowledge me. My husband almost didn’t believe me, so we switched seats to see if it was because he was facing towards where staff walked from…but no, waiters continued to only ask him if the food was ok. I even made the reservation under my name, and always politely smiled and made eye contact to invite any form of communication, so I was quite confused at the very clear sexism in 2024. It was funny at first, then just insulting to us both. Please do better next time and acknowledge your female customers? Starter was good and mains was ok, dessert not great, very let down by the service though. Would upload more photos but don’t particularly want to promote the restaurant

We were having a celebratory meal here and it was fantastic! The ambience and atmosphere was great - the history displayed across the walls & the decor was on point. The team were very attentive and there was a good pace to service as well. The food itself, was bursting with flavour - a good level of spice in all of the dishes we tried & the chutneys as well! Not forgetting one of the drinks too - spicy! It was lovely when they bought out a chocolate ganache with a candle prior to dessert to celebrate our occasion too - a really nice touch. Whilst it's expensive (it's Michellin!), completely worth the price!

We’ve been wanting to go here for a long time and were expecting real quality, so the bar was set high. It was a birthday celebration and we arrived and were seated swiftly, place had nice ambience and staff. We had a cocktail on arrival which was good, £18 each. We ordered the tasting menu and a dahl. The menu included a rice and naan to share. No poppadoms offered. Starter of Green prawn was excellent as was the chicken starter. The 4 curries with the main, the flavours were good, particularly the lobster curry, the others were good, if a little underwhelming. I preferred the dahl and left some chicken and lamb. The Dahl was amazing.. one of the best we’ve had. Pre dessert they brought out a birthday sorbet which was lovely. Nice experience but not really the Michelin star food and experience we had envisioned. That said, give it a try. The food is very good but there are many good places around cheaper, with just as good service and experience. We had a bottle of wine and table water - the bill £320 with service charge. We would go again but order off main menu, many dishes we saw looked very good.

It was nice but perhaps a little flat. I came expecting a challenger to Gymkhana but Veeraswamy doesn't *quite* compare. Don't get me wrong, the Tandoori Raan Kebab with Yakhni Pulao was incredible. Also the Kheema Ghotala on Toast. Maybe the weekday menu is better?

Food was a tad average but nice. Good portion sizes of the mains. Perhaps the choices available to us on the Weekend lunch menu were not representative of their skill. My fave was Kheema Ghotala on Toast (s) and Tandoori Raan Kebab with Yakhni Pulao (m). Service was lovely and attentive
