Great food, great service - recommended

Curry quite good from set menu but drinks seem very expensive. Service OK but in small upstairs dining area, waiters chatting made having our own conversation a bit difficult.

Lovely, unassuming little restaurant. Fabulous service from Shahed, I had the Tandoori Mixed grill and my partner had the Tikka Masala, and both were full of flavour, and neither too spicy. The mixed Grill was just enough of a kick to make you go 'ooh'. If and when I'm in London next, I will definitely be coming back here.

Best chole in London. It's so authentic and delicious. The service is quick and fresh phulkas!! Definitely definitely biggg thumbs up :)

I don't why this place is so highly rated. Feels like a tourist trap. Food was very mediocre. Naan was very stale and the curries tasted very bland. The gravy was excessive and didn't add anything to the dish. Finally the staff were so unhelpful. Don't know how they are still open. Would not recommend

My boyfriend insisted on coming here as this was one of his favorite places to go to when he lived in London and I can see why. Excellent food, service and hospitality. Zabed was great, with excellent recommendations. I highly recommend!

If there were Zero star on google this restaurant deserves zero stars, for this over hyped London restaurant claiming to an Indian restaurant. Very Rude staff and so much discrimination in handling British and Indian origin people. The food is bad, the restaurant ambience is like a cheap dance bar with so much smell of stalled things and unhygienic glasses and cutlery. Conjust place, not recommended if you don't want to have negative unpleasant experience

Food was just ok. Bryani was very dry and mostly chunks of chicken with dry rice, nothing like the Bryani we’ve had before. The shrimp dish was just ok as well feeling like they weren’t the freshest? The tandoor lamb chops, while very tender and came sizzling hot which was nice, were covered in a pinkish sauce which took away from it. To be fair this place is a very good value however we won’t return because the food just wasn’t worth going out for:/

Despite coming from a distant location and working in central London, they immediately welcomed me and served delicious food. A small restaurant that doesn't look like much from the outside but with tasty and excellent cuisine. Very smiling and attentive staff. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to eat typical Indian dishes. Particularly the chef's dishes. A change of scenery guaranteed.

This restaurant is very dirty, unhealthy and the hygiene is extremely questionable. The dishes were not bad at the time but I got sick the next day due in my opinion to the hygienic conditions. I really do not recommend this address, even though it is well rated on Tripadvisor, otherwise I will have intestinal problems.

Great food and service! My husband and I shared a ton of food. We had soup, naan, chicken and lamb curries, rice, and a spinach lentil dish. I wish I had the correct terms for all our dishes but suffice to say the flavors were so good I would Order anything off the menu. Staff was super attentive and talked with us. Excellent Indian restaurant and staff in London! 10/10 I came here for my last proper meal in London before leaving and I was really astonished by the pure quality of everything. I was immediately greeted by the staff and our server Shahed. They made sure to make us feel welcome. Later on we got the menu with the staff still helping us and resolving any particular issue including allergy. Our server Shahed was excellent and the key factor in all the help me and my family got, he was really great and nice during the whole experience. The food was class and to be honest the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. After we ate Shahed (our server) gave us hot towels and chocolate and it really made us feel important even after eating. Lastly they said goodbye to us and everyone were so happy and they really made us feel better about ourselves. Highly recommend this restaurant, everything about it were pure class and quality, the service, the server Shahed, the rest of the staff, the food, the goodbye. Loved it!

Very aggressive waiters solicited us on the sidewalk and pressured us into sitting down. When I ordered the chicken curry, I was even more aggressively upsold to "the house special" version, which was several pounds more expensive but was the same thing on paper. I asked what the difference was. "Oh, this one has the special spices." "But the regular chicken curry says it has the same spices." "Okay well fine then don't get it, do whatever you want" I gave in after that because I didn't want someone to spit in my food. But it was an unpleasant experience and I was clearly being ripped off. I only went through with it because I'm sure this review will cost them more than the £3 extra they made off of me and I want them to know that they don't fool me. Anyway, we came as Americans trying to find the chicken tikka masala we were used to (spicy, not sweet), and we failed in that regard. Didn't particularly care for the food, and the service meant I'm obligated to give one star.

The food was great, original Indian food and delicious naan. But the service was not attentive and not really customer friendly. Nothing against the atmosphere but downstairs it‘s too tightly spaced which was not very pleasant as I didn‘t have enough space to move.

What a wonderful night out with coworkers! The restaurant is cosy, friendly and the food is tasty. The guy named Shahed was the waiter for us. He was so friendly and attentive! We really enjoyed the whole experience tonight!

WORST experience ever. Tiny restaurant, there wasn’t enough seatings, when others sneezed, it fell on our food as the restaurant is small and tiny and the seating in the basement made it worse. The food was horrible, please avoid as better Indian food out there. There is plenty of Indian restaurants in Paddington Street. Avoid this one unless you want to waste your money

The food was insanely good, fresh and affordable and the service was superb! My only regret is that my stomach couldn’t take in more! I wish I lived here so that I could go again!

La comida muy buena, nada a decir, pero a la hora de pagar te traen un tiquet hecho a mano y nos dijeron que si queríamos dar propina y aceptamos. Nos retiraron rápido el ticket a mano y no pudimos comprobar nada, y ahora haciendo números hemos visto que ya nos pusieron un coste de servicio de unos 10£ aparte de la propina que ya dimos. Pecamos de turistas.

We ordered Rajasthani Paneer, Daal Makhni, Garlic naan and Veggie Biryani. The food was not bad. It was flavorful but the taste were no where close to authentic dishes. That is the only reason I am giving it 3 stars. Otherwise the service was good.

A family favorite for years. We’re always greeted with a smile and the entire staff works to make our meal as an enjoyable experience as possible. Good menu for people with different tastes and preferences. Highly recommended.

Ordered 3 curries, all were quite bland. Lamb wasn’t too tender. Chipati was disappointingly floury, not how it should be. Wouldn’t revisit in a hurry

Had lunch here with friends and between us we tried six different dishes, mainly from the chef's specialities list which offered some interesting choices. We enjoyed all of them and also had cheery service from the staff. Prices were reasonable too.

The decorations etc were nice, but the place was crammed. Luckily I sat near the wall, but a buddy of mine sat near the aisle and the waiters bumped into him repeatedly. The waiters them self could have been a little bit friendlier. The food was okaish, it took quite a long time to receive our food and our orders where confused multiple times. But the crowning glory was that we were asked to pay and leave our table because there were other guests waiting for our table even though some hadn't finished their drink and food. That wouldn't have been a problem, if they would have told us beforehand that we only have a limited amount of time.

The worst restaurant on the name of India. The food is not Indian at all they use some smelly oil to cook food. Moreover they don’t have any Indian Chef at all. When we told the staff that food is not good and there is no essence of Indian Food they were rude towards us. Then lastly they provide us the bill which was not printed and imposed the Service Charge with the word SC. When we asked them to remove the service charge then the staff said we will not remove bcz it is mandatory to pay.

Papadams not freshly cooked they were bendy like they’d been sitting out for some time. The rice tasted rubbery like it had been reheated in a microwave. The meat was extremely chewy, again didn’t taste freshly cooked. Way too many onions! I feel sick just thinking about this. Do not recommend. Value for money?! No way.

Iconic neighbourhood Indian restaurant. Would highly recommend al fresco dining in the summer. Food is tasty - over order so you have some for the next day! (saag paneer is particularly good!)

Mice ALERT 🚨!!! On Sunday 20th August, I was trying to enjoy my dinner but I was so disgusted and grossed out from what I saw in this restaurant. While I was eating I heard noises so I turned around and saw 3 mouse running to the kitchen under the Table. I screamed! I called the waiter, I told him what I just saw but they are well aware of the mouse issue. He told me it’s because “restaurant is next to the park” so they have mice issue. This is not an excuse! It’s so unhygienic, it’s where we go and eat!!!!! I can’t believe how this place is still open and running their business.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

It seems to be always busy. So it must have something positive. It was fine. Nothing special. Pakora was OK but have had better.. Main curries we enjoyed but again never outstanding or better than we have had anywhere else really.

I went with my family to eat in, the staff came out and was very rude asking how many of us are , he can see how many and kept asking in rude way . We were 6 people he said 6 people can’t sit, but inside it was only one family with 4 people dining in. He said if you want you can eat outside even though it was cold outside and my one year old baby was sleeping in stroller. He didn’t let us in and we went back. It felt disrespectful and disappointed. It was written this restaurant got awards, do they know for what. I request everyone not to go to this restaurant and just 0.4 mile there is another restaurant pa-pudam, enjoy there

Great local Indian with excellent food. The staff are wonderful - very helpful and friendly. The portions are on the small side but I don’t mind that and the prices are also reasonable. We sat outside on the evening we went in July which was lovely although a bit windy when sitting at the top of the alley way.

The food was freshly made but Bangladeshi folks running a restaurant calling it an Indian Restaurant isn’t justified. During my stay in UK, I realised that be it Pakistanis’ or Bangladeshis’, everyone wants to call themselves Indian restaurant - not that I would not want to go to their restaurant if they had their own branding but thinking about visitors or tourists, it is deceiving to brand yourselves as something you aren’t. The dishes we ordered were not close to what an Indian version should taste like. Edit (July 26): Glad to see that you have taken the feedback positively. I will certainly give it a try next time I am around.

Actually wouldn't even give 1 star to this restaurant, the server was do rude ,didn't communicate at all but he was kind and polite with non Indians sitting on the table next to ours looks like he has an issue with Indians, he reached to such an extent that when my husband was paying the bill the tap didn't work for some reason and he just pulled the card from my husbands hand and tapped it, he didn't have the decency to ask for permission before taking the card,the food was mediocre.The restaurant seems to take no action towards such behaviour as most of the previous reviews have said that the server is rude and arrogant ,will never recommend this place .
