On a random walk during our visit to London, we came across this place and being it was less than half an hour away from their closing time, the staff was very kind enough to serve us. The atmosphere was great, the cleanliness was impeccable. We ordered Chef’s special Nawabi Lamb Shank for main course and Duck tikka for starters. It was our first time trying duck and I can say we weren’t disappointed!! We’ve eaten lamb at the infamous “Dishoom” as well and I think their lamb dish was at the same level or may be even better because of their unique touch and presentation. Server’s were very welcoming and polite. Highly satisfied with both the experience and the food - Would definitely come back again!!

We had dinner there with our 2 children, the food was excellent! Cozy atmosphere, very clean place. Top service and very pleasant and attentive staff. We will come back with pleasure!

Dishes are unreasonably sweet and lame, totally not worth that expensive price. Never go again and will never recommend anyone at all. I really regret the dining experience here. The owner even replies extremely rudely and without respect to the genuine reviews. Horrendous experience.

I recently visited the restaurant hoping to enjoy an authentic Indian meal, but was left quite disappointed. The dishes we ordered were overwhelmingly sweet with very little spice or depth of flavor. Even the naan bread, which is usually a nice accompaniment to soak up sauces, had an unpleasant sweet flavor that didn't pair well with the entrees. PLEASE DONT ORDER BUTTER CHICKENS, that was so weirdly sweet. 100% a disaster. I hope I’m not getting diabetes tmr. Bless me

Indian food without taste of spices, all masala we had are all too sweet and tasted the same. Never tried a sweet version of Palak Paneer before. It was very disgusting. Biryani was just a tasteless fried rice.

I have to say, this was the best indian food experience I've had in a long while! the atmosphere is moody and peaceful (they play smooth jazz over the speakers) the service is impeccable and of course the food is amazing! I've been a few nights in a row now as well! Their lamb dishes are to. die. for.! I have a personal taste for Indian food and have been to many a restaurant, but this is by far the best.

Absolutely amazing, last minute as we were watching the football next door, so hadn’t booked, so accommodating as there were 9 of us, food was excellent, everyone enjoyed what they had and friends started to sing happy birthday to me when lighting the candle so they knew it was my birthday, brought out a little cake, so thoughtful, thoroughly recommend and would definitely go again.

I visited Indian City with one of my friends for lunch & they served one of best Indian sabji I have eaten in London since a long time. I would really recommend this place for Indian food lovers, their services are also good, though the price is bit on the higher side but it's worthy.

Walking by looking for a quick dinner, decided on some Indian food. The restaurant found a spot for us in a corner even though they were packed. We greatly appreciated this. Veg Biriyani, Naaga Chicken and Aloo Gopi tasted great!

I usually don't write bad reviews, but this place was horrible. For starters there was some beef going on between the person who looked like the manager and the waiter. So the waiter neglected me and just didn't care. On top of that the food was sub par. When the mint chutney is sweet, you gotta run away from that place as fast and as far away as you can. May be the UK crowd likes sweet mint chutney, I don't know. Also the saag paneer was sweet. To his credit the waiter warned me that it was not spicy and it is creamy and mild; but didn't expect it to be sweet. It should be ordered as a dessert. The only saving grace was that the tandoor items were decent and the naan was decent.

The service was outstanding! The duck was quite dry. Not even sure if it was duck. But still satisfactory enough.

Found this place on an eye shot walking to my hotel, don’t be fooled by the small front, the food, service and atmosphere was amazing, very polite staff and very reasonably priced considering the excellent taste and quality! well recommended and will be returning on my next visit to london!

A great service and I attend, no reservation or wait time usually required, popped in from my local hotel in the area for something a bit more exotic from the usual food. My partner and I were equally as pleased with the food. Delivered almost straight away, waiters were chatty and had a good sense of humour about them. Would highly recommend to anyone staying or passing through Blackfriars in London. Would happily attend again.

Foid was great. But when I got there half an hour before closing (22:30), it was too late for seating. We took away and enjoyed our dinner.

Bog standard Indian. Not expensive, not exceptional, but enjoyable enough.

Last night's experience tells us to be very careful when ordering food, especially when the manager will ask you to order some unnecessary food. Rice and cakes are not cheap, so ask carefully before ordering. And it felt a bit forced to ask us to write comments after dinner that day. What I wrote today was what I felt in my heart.

Having been to all manner of curry houses in central London, at various price points, you get to know the market and what you like. India city is my favourite overall, they are excellent quality and do the fundamentals exceptionally well. The place ticks the boxes and you will not be disappointed. The staff are excellent, attentive and friendly. Carve out time on lunch early, to be lucky enough to get a seat on their lunchtime special. But I also eat here in evenings with friends. Thank you to the excellent staff and fantastic food!!

Food was very tasty. The butter chicken is very sweet, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. Looks closed from the outside, but very cozy inside.

The food is good, and I assume that everything is fine as long as you don't order the special lunch menu. If you do, however, the menu says it includes rice and naan, but they serve only one naan and a small bowl of rice for two people, and if you ask for the second rice you have to pay it separately. It's a small thing, the restaurant isn't expensive, it's just bad manners.

Hi,I want to tell one incidence i went this morning in this reasturant for breakfast at around 1200hrs firstly they opened and the men who opened were very rude and after 15-20min they came to ask my order i ordered two thimgs they took the order and later one of the person came and said pur chef said we can’t do that amd when i asked them with whom i can speak regarding this nobody responsed they all were ignoring me and the behaviour of staff is very rude please don’t visit this reasturant Thank you

Had a group meal with about 20 people downstairs. Every loved it. We even took takeaway. So thank you Indian city for making a special birthday party for my brother in-law. We will be back

Food was excellent. Service was OK. The location is great, right next to blackfriars station. The building itself is very compact and feels a little cramped. But if you don't mind that then worth a visit.

Excellent indian restaurant where you have the opportunity to explore various experience of indian food; chicken, lamb, etc... with different level of spicy sensation. the green chicken was very good ! in addition of that, an opportunity to have food after 10:00pm, as all local pub are all close for serving food. do not hesitate if you are aroud.

Had our Christmas dinner here.. Not the one for reviews but this was one of the best curry i had in the city. Hence why i had to write a review. Christmas menu i recommend you try the lahoori chicken mouth watering and tasted like home. Will be down with my family. Oh service is friendly and busting atmophere.

I took a few clients here this afternoon. Service was first class. V friendly, and attentive but no rush. Thank you Ching for looking after us so well. Food was superb, the restaurant is a high standard of presentation without being too fancy and the environment is buzzing with people from suits to jumpers. A great mix. I entertain clients a lot and this is one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to.

By far the best Indian restaurant I’ve had the pleasure of eating at. Everything from their starters to their main dishes has flavour and is presented so beautifully. I would definitely recommend to anyone as there is something for everyone.

Waiter was constantly pestering us to get up, even though there was no one waiting and there was still a lot of time for the restaurant to close, this is totally unacceptable. We had to literally gobble up our food and leave some food on the table itself to save ourself from the repeated requests from the waiter. Never expected this at a restaurant in London. Please avoid if you can as they seem to be least bothered to provide a decent service.

First time I've visited this restaurant and it was excellent! We had the set 2 course lunch and it was superb value! Thank goodness we booked as the restaurant was packed! We'll definitely be going back!

Whoa! I know London has the best Indian food, but this is ridiculous. I ordered (take-out) Karahi chicken - it should be called Karahi oil with a couple of chicken pieces. The vegetable Jalfrazi was more like “Oilfrazi”. The tandoori roti and Peshawari naan were good, but hey, that is not a high bar! I was extremely disappointed. The service people are nice, but the chef needs an education in how to cook.

Highly recommended. Ate as a party of 8, great menu choices - service was friendly and efficient, food was fabulous. Will definitely return.

Not the best Indian I have had by a long way, nothing particularly wrong with it, but both the starter and main lacked the rich flavours I expected, it was quite bland. It's very noisy too maybe it's a London thing but it had the volume of football match.

I like Indian food and have been to many Indian food restaurants. This is one of the best. Plus, the service was great, the atmosphere was great. I can't think of a negative thing about the place. Don't hesitate - just go and try it.

Very classy restaurant, the food here is a 10/10 it serves only the best of the south Asian foods, the staff here were very nice and engaging with the customers and made sure we were comfortable and provided the best service and made sure we were enjoying our food. Toilets here are clean and nice. They also have a variety of foods and drinks to choose from so there’s something for everyone. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try good and flavourful south Asian foods.

Delightful restaurant, staff are really friendly and attentive, the food itself is simply wonderful. The meat is exceptionally tender and the curry sauces were simply delicious, naan nice and fluffy (not doughy or dense) and I can not recommend the mixed platter for starters enough! We will definitely be back next time we are in London!

Best food I have had in London. From the moment I saw "Butter Chicken" written in bold letters, my heart did a little dance of excitement. I knew this was going to be good. The "Chicken Tikka Masala" was like a velvet hug from a curry-loving grandmother, and the "Saag Paneer " was a creamy dream of delight. The naan bread deserves its own paragraph because it was soft, pillowy, and downright addictive. The service was as warm as the spices, and the staff was gracious and efficient. Most of my restaurant experiences in London have been subpar especially when it comes to service and quality of the meals. Not at India City, I waddled out of the restaurant with a heart full of happiness and a belly full of curry goodness. I'll definitely be back for another round if I ever visit London again.

Encountered an uncouth older waiter who might be the owner. Wait staff continually paced past our tables empty handed, back and forth staring at us making dining uncomfortable. Did not receive water even after ordering it. When I asked for water the second time, the waiter pretended he could not understand and ridiculed and laughed at me. They all seemed angry that they had a customer. Lamb curry was very oily. No desserts on the menu. We got a rude NO for asking a dessert. No chai tea on the menu.

I went there yesterday which was a Friday with 2 friends for dinner. I believe my friend made a reservation so we had a table waiting on us when we arrived. The service was really good as the staff were very attentive. I went for a vegetarian meal and asked for them to make it spicy which they obliged today. It was quiet when we got in at 7pm but by the time we left at 9pm it was quite busy. They sell alcohol in the restaurant and the food came out quite quickly.

Perfect in every way except the deafening noise. Too many people in too small of space- many were obviously drinking heavily before dining- & literally shouting to carry on conversation. The restaurant is tiny, with low ceilings & poor acoustics. The food is definitely worth going, fairly priced- try to go very early to avoid the drinking crowd.

Underbart god mat och oklanderlig service!!

We stumbled upon this hidden gem right after settling into our nearby hotel at Leonardo Royal London St Paul's, while in search of a delightful Indian dining experience. With a very short time notice, they arranged a 4 people table. The restaurant was full and it had a great vibrant atmosphere. Served with fragrant rice and mouthwatering naan bread, the entire meal was an absolute feast for the senses. To top it all off, I enjoyed refreshing sips of Kingfisher beer, first time had this indian lager beer which complemented my spicy meal beautifully. Again the waiters were very helpful, friendly and I highly recommend this restaurant.
