Great food and great service, thoroughly enjoyed our night

Well deserved ONE STAR and sadly because of their customer service. Their chicken wings are top class. However, all the work done in the kitchen to deliver tasty food to customers can be ruined with a bad attitude. Since the moment I entered the place the staff were so unwelcome and the place was not even incredibly busy - actually the environment was pretty chill for a Saturday. I waited for around 15-20 minutes to at least be asked if I wanted a drink and about 10 minutes more if I wanted to order some food thanks to the guy with a moustache who decided to approach me, while the woman with the long full medium brown hair who gave me the table - actually with a really annoyed and disrespectful attitude - knew from the beginning I came in for drinks and food. I genuinely didn't leave the place because I was starving and someone recommended me the food but next time, me or my friends will skip this place. Tons and tons of pubs in the area where you can have a pleasant time (alone or with a big party). Finally, the staff added the tip by default on the receipt which of course I decided to pay, because it was cringier not to give them the £2.50 they charge me - cringe that you charge customers for a tip with such a bad attitude.

Very courteous and friendly staff. The food is good, but nothing special. There are better burgers. What's particularly annoying is that a 10% tip is automatically added, which I don't think is right. I really hope this really benefits the staff!

Took a tour group for lunch here had to stay out on the coach, An amazing member of staff came out and said she would bring my lunch out, food was beautiful and brilliant service.

Very nice place to visit. Very clean & tidy. I didn't enjoy my food 😅 but that was my fault 🤪. I got the waffles mixed up thinking I was getting potato waffles 😅. The chicken and cravy was very tasty.

Me friend and I enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea here on Sunday afternoon, wonderful friendly staff and delicious food. Would highly recommend if you enjoy American style food and a twist on the traditional afternoon tea

Visited here as we had a voucher and it was honestly the best experience from start to finish. All the staff were lovely, in particular Evie who helped organise some issues with our voucher prior to arrival. Food was amazing and will definitely visit the next time we are in Glasgow!

What a venue! I'm super pleased with my experience here. Staff were lovely, very attentive, very accommodating, food was mouth watering good. Can't fault them at all. Lovely place.

Primera visita, ya que mi hija estaba haciendo un podcast en vivo abajo en el lugar, pequeño lugar agradable y aunque solo tuvimos unas pocas bebidas tranquilas muchos a nuestro alrededor tenían un bocado para comer. Burgers/fries etc. Bonito ambiente, no demasiado ocupado (bueno fue un domingo). Agradable y espero volver a visitar pronto.

Hicimos el escape room, experiencia de van winkle y la bienvenida que recibimos en van winkle fue increíble. Elaine era tan amable, nos habla a través de nuestro vale virgen y realmente nos cuidó. Recientemente tuvieron un problema desde arriba que era. Completamente fuera de sus manos, pero Elaine estaba muy tranquilo y nos puso ant facilidad con la situación. También estuvo muy dispuesta a nuestras enmiendas de orden. Qué gran ambiente. Definitivamente volveremos

Great friendly service,nice place but dead, the food was disgusting and so disappointing after reading so many good reviews, the burger says 100% Scottish beef but they looked and taste like Tesco value frozen burgers absolute tasteless and turned to mush, I have the bufalow burger took one bite and left rest, chicken was covered in grease and the sauce was ao strong the smell nearly makes you Wana vomit as so pungent, chips was soaking in oil are hard very sad realy, shame food wasnt as good as the service, wull not return

Surprisingly amazing burgers and fries!

We had the Kentucky afternoon tea, it was ok at best. It’s clear they are cheaping out on it with barely any filling in the sandwiches and watery bbq sauce. Think they cut 1 waffle into little bits and same with the brownie. Disappointing. In saying that we have had other food from there before which was really yummy and would defo have again. Just need some improvements on the afternoon tea. Butterfly and the pig afternoon tea is the same price and you get an insane amount of home made food with unlimited drinks so there is no reason the one here can’t be improved as it has potential. Lovely staff and nice relaxed atmosphere.

Visited here whilst away with work, Fantastic food. Really good atmosphere, very well priced and has decent beer on offer which is rare in Scotland ;) I took on the Van winkles Bucking hell burger and often with these challenges the meal is bland, It only has size to offer but this was actually an enjoyable eat! I didn't finish the chips but did the burger ok! Definitely recommend this place and I can't wait to go back when I'm next in Glasgow.

Best Chicken & Waffles ever! Great Bacon&Chesse Burger

Great vibe and good grub. The service is first class as drinks were brought to our table and topped up regularly. Will be back. Thanks to all the friendly staff who made it an excellent afternoon.

Was going with friends to the Hydro for a gig and needed somewhere to eat close by beforehand and Van Winkle West End was ideal! Delicious food? YES the wings were so good we ordered them again instantly... the burgers were fantastic and the philly cheese steak was delightful! Like the wee beer garden area too and like we said nice and close for a short easy 10 min walk to the Hydro. Defo be coming back!

Our first visit here after being at the Eeek escape room next door. It was a Sunday lunchtime and the bar was quiet. Staff were very friendly and service was quick and they made sure we had everything we needed and also they ensured we were happy with everything. We ordered a variety of food including the haggis burger, chicken and waffles, and hot chicken wings. All the food was brilliant and all of us were happy with our choices and due to the portion sizes we couldn’t manage dessert. Good choice of drinks too and for four main meals, 2 side orders, 4 alcoholic drinks and 3 non alcoholic and it was less than £100. We will definitely return, hopefully on a sunny or at least warmer day and enjoy some more food and drink,

Had the bacon cheeseburger and it's the best burger I've had in Glasgow, easily top 5 burgers I've ever had. Super friendly staff as well. 1000% recommend! (no, it's not a typo)

We love Van Winkles because of the dog menu, the human menu is also pretty good 😆 The food was tasty and service was quick. Saturday lunchtime was not busy which meant the place lacked a bit of atmosphere but when we passed by later in the day 8pm ish it was much busier.

Great all round warm and friendly pub,, fantastic food,,very good reasonably price food and drink,,,we loved it, definitely recommend.

Nice bar with the best selection of bourbons and good food menu, especially for fried chicken fans. The Kentucky inspired afternoon tea is an interesting offer with tasty food, especially the halloumi bites and sweets were good, although the coffee wasn't great.

The atmosphere was a bit low due to it being lunchtime on a weekday. But I imagine it's livelier later on in the evenings and weekends. Looking forward to going back and bringing the dog as it's a dog friendly place.

Always a winner here, food is excellent and served quickly. Quite quiet as it was a weeknight but honestly perfect after a busy day, the woman on the bar was excellent, the waffles and ice-cream were devine.

Nice atmosphere and great bar with lots of choice. Well worth a visit if you are passing. Also have two good outdoor areas which will be great on those glorious Glasgow summer days!!🌞

When here with a group of people. The food was of good quality for pub food but nothing special. What did make it though was the excellent staff they really make you feel at home.

Cosy place to enjoy a couple of drinks or some heartwarming scran, function room downstairs is reasonably spacious but pretty outdated with no options to cater for your party, otherwise we have had a great time!

I am a fool for chicken wings. Their wings were great. I got the extra spicy and they had the perfect amount of heat. They don't count the drummies and flats as separate, so 10 wings are 10 whole wings. The bartender was superlative. He gave us great advice about hiking in the Highlands. Thank you again.

Celebrated fathers day with the family at Van Winkle. We waited a while for our food, however everyone enjoyed their meal, and service was great despite obviously being understaffed. It was fairly busy and Graham was under pressure, but was helpful and attentive. Well done and thank you.

Didn’t actually realise this was here, but the place we’d planned to go was stowed. It was a quiet Tuesday so we immediately got an outside table. Drink prices were on the high side but, whatever, cost of living crisis. Ordered 2 small plates of Mac cheese and chicken tenders. Can’t say either of them blew my mind but they were pretty decent. Everything, including the toilets, was very clean. Bartender was a lovely guy. I’d definitely come back here - good location, good food and drink, good service.

Good Atmosphere, was not to busy when we went but only two staff members on meaning slow service. Booked the function room for my works night out as we had been a few times when it was McPhabbs and always enjoyed it. Firstly they called a week before the night out to advise they had double booked the downstairs function room and told us they were moving us upstairs. I said I wasn't happy about it and after numerous phone calls they finally gave us what we had booked! Secondly, on the night, turned up and the bar was no longer in the function room, the sound system wasn't working and no area for buffet food so tables were crammed with food and drink and staff were nowhere to be seen to clear it away. Decided we would never have our annual Christmas night in there again. Thirdly, popped in at the weekend before a show and was charged £21 for two double vodkas. To note we didn't even ask for doubles the barmaid offered 😕 left after one drink and can honestly say I won't ever be back...

They really do have the best chicken wings around. Oh my god they were incredible.

The hill billy potatoes were 15/10. Will be back for these alone. The rest of the food was also delicious but those potatoes were to die for.

As an American visiting Glasgow, there are times that I really miss/crave Buffalo wings!! Y'all, let me tell you... ...The wings here at Van Winkle are the best ones I've ever had!! If you're ever in the area, you must give this place I try!! I give it a 10/10!! 😎 (Oh, and the service is incredible!! Also, the atmosphere is great!! It has that quintessential pub feel to it, and they play rock music over the speakers!! It's a pretty dope place to spend a Saturday evening!!)

Staff forgot half our drinks. Food was just warm enough to eat but cold when we finished. Chips were covered in salt which we never do.

Was having a particularly terrible day made infinitely worse by a certain food delivery app messing me about and constantly telling me my order would be soon. Cancelled and ordered direct from Van Winkle who got it to me right on time. The food was freshly cooked, tasted amazing, and they'd even sent the cancelled order for free. Amazing service and I'll be ordering direct from them every week now!

Was ok until a man started playing the guitar out of the blue, which forced us all to move to another place as we didn't think he was very good and also we had to scream at each other to have any sort of chat. Not for us.

The food here is absolutely amazing! Hands down the best macaroni cheese I've ever had. There's so many amazing choices on the menu it was tough to decide what to have. We had the 5 cheese mac and cheese with chips, the pulled pork burger, corndogs and the Buffalo mac and cheese dirty fries. We couldn't believe how reasonably priced it was considering how good it tastes and the great portion sizes. Our server was super friendly and the place just had an awesome vibe all around. Each thing tasted phenomenal and we'll definitely be back.

Went here for dinner one Thursday night as family of 4 with dogs. They do a special of two steaks on the Thursday so we thought we'd give them a try. It's not great, the steak is a cheap cut equivalent to supermarket cuts, served with chips & onion rings, peppercorn sauce is extra. The quality is just ok, nothing great, tasty enough but not like making you think you'll want to come back for it. However, it's served in some victorian looking enamalled metal bowl thing which is a dreadful attempt at being quirky or different, it's also a pain to eat out of, for £25 for two steaks I put up with it, but for the usual price of £21 for a steak I would expect a proper plate. It was a Thursday night right after pay day and the place had 3 tables on, that makes you wonder. All in the food was middling, in all honesty I would have enjoyed a steak cooked at home better, however the service was top notch which is a shame because the food belies the service which is far superior.

Cracking friendly place to grab an Extra Cold pint of Guinness or two. They have some nice Scotch (including American), to sample and a nice outside garden to boot.

We had a great time and recieved excellent service. We enjoyed American bbq with scotish flavors, drinks, and desserts. The music was awesome! The food qas well prepared, tasty, and made for an enjoyable lunch near to a great park. Indoor and outdoor seating available but the weather wasn't nice enough to sit outside. Our server took exceptional care of us.
