The Raven in Glasgow City

Bar staff very good. Accidentally left my purse and the bar person came after me to hand it back

Met up with some friends on Thursday night and visited the Raven bar for the first time. Nice and spacious inside with lots of seating areas, well lit. First impressions was nice friendly looking place. Approached the bar for some drinks, met with a stone faced female bartender. Ordered some pints and a few shots as we were in a good mood. Almost 50 quid for 4 drinks with shots…pretty shocked by the price as place is located off the main drag. When expressing my surprise at the price of the drinks, the female bartender gave me an unpleasant stare. Anyway paid for the drinks and took a seat. When my friend took to the bar for more drinks he was refused, claiming that I had been aggressive when ordering the first round. I approached the male bartender to challenge the claim and was accused of using foul language towards the female bartender which I disputed. I was shocked by this claim, however myself and friends were asked to leave. On reflection, I feel that any staff working in environment selling alcohol should posses a level of resilience when dealing with the public. I feel that the female staff member had made a false accusation however myself and friends could not plead our case. On that point I would not recommend this bar and would like to highlight to management that both staff members working that Thursday night require suitable training for working in a public bar. Therefore I have given the Raven a rating of one because of my bad experience.

Staff were friendly, can't comment on the food as I didn't buy any. They had a nice selection of beers, and the electronic darts was really fun. 100% would go back.

Food wasn't great this time.. the chefs ran out of turkey roulade and decided to put pulled beef on my girlfriends burger instead then the waitress told her multiple times it was definitely turkey "but different turkey that they use for Sandwich" It definitely wasn't as it was the exact same pulled beef product I had in my quesadillas I even tasted it and compared it. The waitress was clearly annoyed on us challenging this, she was probably frustrated that the kitchen had lied to her and then we appeared like idiots making trouble. No apology was offered and it was really frustrating to feel like we had to explain ourselves over and over. The roast potatoes were actually fried too, very dry. I've been here twice, after this I would not return. There was clearly tension when it should have just been fixed. Not nice at all. Especially when you get treated like you're a stupid. I've worked in restaurants all my life and there's a lot you can get away with. When the kitchen makes a mistake like this they need to just own it. Lying to the waitress just caused an atmosphere, she should have just got a manager to come and speak to us and it probably could have been avoided. The burger was taken off the bill so it's not the end of the world but it was hard to get anyone's attention both times we had to which makes us less likely to return.

Great city centre bar with friendly staff and good selection of drinks.

Cocktails are not that strong, also the service isnt quite nice. The bartenders are realy unfriendly. To play some darts as a tourist is very difficult, because they like to give locals a head start :)

Great place if you want to watch football and have drinks and foods. Burgers wasn't bad

Gran lugar para tomar algo en un fin de semana con amigos si tienes más de 30 años. Es difícil encontrar un pub en el centro de la ciudad que no esté repleto de estudiantes, pero este lugar tenía mesas libres esta noche y estaba ocupado, pero encontramos una mesa lo suficientemente fácil y música no demasiado alta que no podía tener una conversación.

Good for enjoying but not for eating. But the service was good so I'll give 3, not 2.

Cool bar with great food, tvs for sports, pool table and dart boards with interactive games.

A little quieter than we had hoped, given a local team was playing a Europa game. Amazing Old Fashions served here!

We went here on our last day in Glasgow. The dart games are some craic and the staff are friendly. The food is tasty and fairly priced we got the 3 plates for £20 and was more than enough to feed us both. Plenty of TVs to watch the live sport too. Really cool atmosphere would recommend.

Great atmosphere, myself, and my family had a great time. We would definitely be back! Didn't try the food, but it looked and smelled great! You can order from the app food and drink are delivered straight to the table! Darts games are fun, and you have plenty of time to play lots of different games.

La primera vez aquí y me sorprendió gratamente. La comida era muy sabrosa y grandes porciones. Tuvimos los 3 bocados de bar por £ 20 y no nos dimos cuenta de que las porciones eran grandes. El personal era eficiente y servicial y tuvimos una visita agradable

Terrible servicio. Esperó 10 minutos y no hay servicio. Tuve que pedir un menú de 3 personas que acaban de hablar entre sí. Luego otros 10 minutos de espera para ver si alguien tomaría nuestra orden. Finalmente dejamos esa zona para otra sección para ver si podíamos conseguir un mejor servicio. No. Todavía necesitaba marcar a alguien para tomar nuestra orden. La comida estaba bien. Luego tuve que llevar nuestra factura al bar, ya que nadie vino a pagarla.

Good simple menu with excellent burgers and dogs. The table service is always very good. Never waiting long for a drink. Great for catch ups with friends.

£18 for a burger?! No wonder it was empty on a friday night. And then when you get the bill, automatic 10% added for service, so it's actually a £19.80 burger, and let me tell you, it's not worth that. The food is mid at best. The halloumi slider is literally just a piece of lightly warmed halloumi in a bun. I have been several times before, but I won't be going back.

at £17 fir a burger, you'd think the "smashed" buger would be fresh, and look like a smashed burger. Instead, you get an old school frozen burger, on a par with McD's. The food is a con.

Great place! We popped in here at random looking for food and a beer and weren't disappointed. Absolutely amazing Bacon Cheeseburger, a good selection of beers and IPA on tap, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Service-wise we were genuinely impressed. There's was a printer glitch which meant our order didn't get to the kitchen so we were waiting a while, but when the staff realised they rushed the order through and gave us a free side (we got the Dirty Clucker loaded fries - outstanding!) and a couple of free pints. Highly recommend it if you're in town looking for a decent burger. We'll definitely be back.

The Raven is a fun sports bar that has lots of TVs to watch sports and does amazing burgers, but I found that there was a problem with the house Cold Town beers, after trying both the IPA and the lager but both were flat, the bartender tried to check on the line but the problem was still there. The smokehouse burger on the other hand was lovely and packed with flavour, but the buns did disintegrate as soon as you tried to pick it up.

A lovely place to come with a dog - ours got plenty of attention. The food wasn’t amazing but pretty standard pub plates. Tidy, clean and reasonably priced.

Superb food ,dog friendly dogs were having so much fun as quiet.

A rather young and noisy clientele. Not for me but perfectly fine for loud people. To be completely fair, the Scotland Euro match was on so the place would have been much louder and busier usual. I may return to the Raven at some less busy time.

Nice wee bar in central Glasgow. Clearly popular. Real ale available. Had the advertised Haggis and Black Pudding bonbons for a snack. Black Pudding unavailable, suited me fine, the Haggis bonbons were perfect, the spicy mayonnaise perfectly balanced.

Always loved stoppin' in here when up the toon,.. but 18 quid for a fall apart burger?.. calm down, it's Glasgow, not Dubai.. hope the £30 burger stays in one piece after the first bite.

Popped in for dinner as was wanting somewhere to watch one of the euro games and noticed it was showing the had a deal burger and pint for £15 food was good but they only had one type of pint that came with it and I wasn't keen on it myself. But everybody's taste is different. Was fairly quiet so got peace to watch the game. Overall happy.

I recommend this place to buy a drink and play 8 ball, darts or watch TV. Had really fun time with friends however I do not recommend buying food as it's ridiculously expensive.

The best American BBQ in Glasgow. The sharing platter is delicious, well portioned, and fairly prized. Good selection of beers too. Highly recommended!

Great food, my brisket was as good the best I ever had. Being from Wisconsin it was great to see Old Fashioneds on the drink menu. Got there when they opened I couldn't believe how fast we got served. Highly recommend 👌 👍

Went in for a few drinks. Selection of £5 cocktails. Staff polite but not very friendly/chatty when asked questions. Didnt eat so not sure of the food. Felt like an old style bar which I liked. Hit with the smell of vanilla on entry and then a mix of 'old' food smells, which was expected if selling food, but I did wonder if they could open some back windows 🙂. They have pool and darts here.

Dog and kid friendly with lovely staff. The food is very good pub grub, recommend the chilli con carne and the delicious mac n cheese.

Another excellent meal at The Raven. Firm favourite for me and my friends and family. Recommend the Bang Bang Chicken Tacos! and any loaded fries, tried philly ones this time, really nice, although be warned loaded fries are a meal in themselves! Great food, friendly relaxed atmosphere and great staff!

Cosy and friendly sportsbar on a Friday evening. Food and drinks area are separated which makes it comfortable to eat. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Used this place a few times now while in Glasgow. Find it has a real mix of folks including a load of couples but all ages and different folks which is good. Beers are great, lots of craft. Darts available and food was good, loaded fries.

Waiter disappeared after bringing food ( no service plate ) then we wanted some more drinks and nobody around. Went to pay bill myself and they sneaked a 10 percent tip on it. Dishonest.

This is a great find!! Food amazing, fast service will defo be back. We opted for pulled pork, brisket and halloumi fries

Very expensive beer. Good range, though. Staff were engaging. Enjoyed the darts. Toilet door broken. Reasonable atmosphere for a Friday night. Previously visited where the food was good. TV's are throughout the premises showing sporting events.

Good food, great service. Darts board set up in an awkward place group of loud lads standing round it, waitresses struggling to get past with plates, customers trying to pay at the til nospace to do it.

Went in for a drink one night, saw the menu and returned the following night for a meal, Americana type menu well cooked and substantial.

Birthday lunch with my son , where we could watch the football and rugby on multiple screens . Enjoyable food with good beer and a good atmosphere

Over priced for poor food. Chicken as tough as old boots, very dry. 'Coleslaw' was lettuce & chilli's, no mayo!! Not be back.

Had many a drink in here, always enjoyed it. Selection is often changing, so plenty to choose from. Gets pretty busy on the weekends or when there's a match on the TV.

Colleagues recommended me to come here on my first day in Glasgow and it did not disappoint! Atmosphere was very nice, although the area where we sat was a bit cold but still very nice. Food was delicious and their cocktails were super good! The service was okay, at some point we had to chase after someone to get a couple of napkins.

We had a rather extraordinary situation in the pub on Saturday morning. We ordered drinks and my friend want to see what the cask ales were. There was a bag just in front of the 3 pumps and my friend just put his hand down on the bag and was told off sharply by the bar staff "don't touch my lemons"! We assured the staff member we just wanted to check the name of the ales and he said again "as long as you weren't touching my lemons" Honestly not making this up. It wasn't a very welcoming experience to be honest. Do better!

Nice atmosphere, normally come here to play darts They have a promotion during the week darts £15 for 90 mins play. Had some food, portion are big, but wouldn't say it's great. Had lunch menu deal chicken wings are not cut up, so you get whole wing which is good value for money, although I prefer cut up ones. nachos, curry hot dog which didn't taste good to me, but my partner liked it. And a burger which was okay. Overall, wouldn't come here for food, but not a bad place for hanging out

Booked The Raven for 12 of us for our annual Xmas day out. Great selection of beers & spirits. All staff are friendly and get you served quickly. There is only one thing I could suggest to improve on the pub, and that’s the gents toilet. When the pub is busy at weekends, it really could do with having a cleaner on shift to attend to it. It got gradually worse throughout the day due to the high footfall. Gets smelly and quite unpleasant to use. Other than that, can’t fault it. Several of the guys got food, hot dogs, tacos, wings etc. All were excellent . We will def use again next year! * we didn’t use the electric dart boards but have done in the past, they a good laugh!

Had dinner there served promptly smiling lady that I always like, very good menue great atmosphere they also have a dark board!!! Will go back again

Perfect to play darts with friends

Visited here with hubby and two kids. Overall we enjoyed the food. I found the macaroni to be undercooked for my taste but hubby disagrees. Pulled pork was lovely, generously portioned and super juicy. Kids loved the milkshake with doughnut on the side.

Only couple in the dinning section but it was a Monday. Was shown to our table and guy said he'd be back to take our order for drinks and food, don't know if he had finished his shift or not as never seen him again, waited nearly 10 mins and had to go to bar to order drinks ourselves, waited another 5 mins and had to catch the attention of a girl to take our food order she was very pleasant and chatty and to be fair so we're the rest of the staff. Food was nice. I would go back again but probably on a different day just for the atmospheric feel.

Busy little Bar, toilets upstairs a bit grubby but can be expeced with high volume of use, good selection of beer, spirits etc on offer, friendly staff, menu looked good but never ate here so can't comment on quality. Enjoyed a few beers.

Visited this place off the back of a recommendation and i’m now a massive fan! This was by far the highlight of the night (apart from The Chemical Brothers obviously), owing it’s success to the food in particular. First and foremost, especially on a Thursday - Sunday evening, book a table via the website, like I did. It was heaving from 5pm onwards and didn’t really quieten down. Very much a Sports Bar, it had an array of Darts Ocheys, many television screens showing various Football games and it was spread over the space of two floors. If I remember right, it was Dog friendly as well. The selection on the menu was decent but I was always swaying towards a Burger of some sort. In the end, I opted for the Smokehouse Burger with a side of Dill Pickle & Jalapeño Slaw. Everything was spot on and the Fries, in particular, were top level! The Cold Town Lager, at only £4.20 a pint, was the perfect accompaniment. Although not advertised, our meal even fell under a Thursday night deal, so the bill was a lovely surprise as well. The staff were great, the seats were bang in the middle of prime Football viewing and the atmosphere was lively, but not hectic. No faults from me and I’m already planning another visit for my next gig. Premier League eating out in Glasgow!

Good place to eat. Pizza was very tasty and the service was friendly. Not that cheap but nothing is these days
