The Winged Ox in Glasgow City

Food was delicious with large portions. Got a bit noisy at times so had to raise voices even across a small table but couldn't fault the staff or their excellent service.

Should have booked as it was initially very busy. Good recommendations from the staff about best sauces with the angel wings. Potato dauphinoise specials were yummy.

Sat 13th April. Friends had Steak Frites, steak was left, too much of a jaw workout. I had a Burger, it wasn't cooked fully. Advised staff. Offered something different, but confidence was lost. Loaded tacos were good.

We had our wedding at Saint Luke's and couldn't be more happy with it! If you're in doubt of whether to choose this as your venue, honestly, you will not regret it. Special thank you to Alyson who runs things like clockwork. She knows what she's doing and will make whatever your vision for your wedding come true. Additional thanks to the rest of the events team who set up and tidy up, and had a smile on their faces throughout.

Went here because they allowed dogs inside and it's a 2 minute walk from Glasgow Green. Website said they had a dog menu. We went on a Sunday afternoon, not realising there was live music. It was very loud and very busy so far to noisy for us. We sat in the beer garden which wasn't nice at all and the seats/tables were rickety. It's actually not a garden, just a concrete area. Nice toilets, lovely staff and food/bill quick to arrive when ordered/asked. It's right opposite the Barras so perfect if you want to go there. Only major let down was the doggy menu/food. Menu consisted of either chicken or sausage . We ordered a sausage for each dog. They were £4 each and all they got was what looked like 1 sausage chopped into pieces. Didn't even look like a nice sausage either. Was absolutely not worth that at all and I was annoyed at paying an extra £8 for it. We only ordered loaded fries which were nice and decent price. We wouldn't go back but if you're in the younger crowd and like live music, you'll love it.

Food was excellent however the staff outshone everyone - absolutely fantastic. Would definitely recommend

Went here to see Big Berrie Band. Brilliant, don't know how many were in band but they were excellent. Couple of singers who were really good.

Went to see a stand-up show during GICF with Weggie hink ae that, venue was fantastic, we had some issues with the bar and drink availability but that got sorted and the restaurant has the best pickle fries! We'll be back soon 🐂

Would've been a lovely dog friendly place for a snack but 20min without seeing a server made me go else where. Would recommend booking. The host was lovely just don't try eat in the outside area. Unless your able to go to the bar and order yourself.

Great food and staff. Try and get a comedy show in Saint Luke’s next door as well

Can't rate this place highly enough . My wife and i have became regulars over the past year or so. Very doggo and childdo friendly along with good vibes , good food and the staff couldn't be more friendly or attentive. Well that's our personal experience anyway.

Great music venue, we didn't eat here and we didn't drink much cos the bar queue moved so slowly. The atmosphere was electric and being a little more mature finding bench seating but still with a good view of the stage was very welcome. We didn't like the bottleneck in the corridor where the loos and cloakroom are. Perhaps a staff member should have been around to guide the public.

Super friendly staff and the food was delivered quick and was delicious. Only thing was I ordered the frickles and was expecting pickle chips not full pickle slices, super tasty none the less! Hoping to catch a few more gigs here in the future so I can enjoy the food/bar!

We tried. We were directed to a table and sat down. For about half an hour we sat.being ignored by staff member after staff member. Making eye contact,and still being ignored. As we got up and left the girl at the wee desk by the door asked if everything was OK,to which we obviously said no.no effort whatsover was made to try and get us some service,nor an apology for seating us then ignoring us. We have been many times before and it was fine,but this was just a shambles. We went to a place around the corner,git excellent food,drinks ,music and service for much less money.

Lovely little find, popped in when visiting Barra markets. Great atmosphere, felt vibrant and alive even in the middle of the day. Only had bar snacks so can't say too much in food but what we had was excellent. Friendly service, will definitely return .

Was there for a gig and this place is just amazing. Not huge but full of character and sounds amazing. Staff were great and very friendly.

Rough looking, tired decor but friendliness made up for it

Great experience…. from booking an evening meal for our party of 9, to the service and of course the food. Nearly sunk ourselves with nachos before tucking into a wide range of dishes - all hot, fresh and full of flavour. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we’ll be back!

Saw Steve Mason here during Celtic Connections. It was just about the right size for the fan base that he still attracts, mainly old blokes like me! Steve was superb as you would expect especially as he progressed into his Beta Babd stuff towards the end. He's also a realy nice bloke. Very enjoyable evening made all thr better by the village hall atmosphere in Saint Lukes.

We went to a gig at St. Luke's & The Winged Ox, therefore I can comment on the food or service. It was my first time at a gig at this venue and it was great. The room is impressive and the acoustics are good. The small bar had a good selection of drinks and there were draft beers served in plastic pint glasses.

Banging food and an amazing venue.

I have been here twice recently for Celtic Connections. I am now seeking reasons to go there for the Korean burger. I have just had lunch but my mouth is watering thinking about it.

Service was amazing! The guy at the door was so polite and helpful! The atmosphere us lovely too, exactly what I expect from a pud! Food on the menu sound's really promising, but it was, a bit over than average, not bad, but not something I've never had before... a small mistake from the kitchen got resolved really fast, from both front and back of house! Good job, guys! See you soon!

First time visit for a surprise date night organised by my partner..we arrive early and thought we'd have a drink first, it was busy as there was a gig on in St lukes but the guy on reception showed us to the bar and said he'd come and get us if he could seat us any earlier. We sat and had a couple of drinks the barman was very friendly and informative about the history of the building etc, the decor is comfortable meets shabby chic/ American/ rock vibe which is fun and interesting to look at . True to his word the server seated us early , nothing too much trouble and the food was fast fresh and excellent...and very reasonably priced too, can't wait to go back in April...a unique place with cool vive that suits all

Always spectacular food and great for a gig

I went to this place to see Israel Israel Nash in concert as part of the Celtic Connections, and did not go for a meal. The hall is pretty much like many other church halls with a balcony which wasn't in use and a stage at one end. The were 2 small but very adequate bars selling a limited variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Unknown to us it was a standing event. The reason I am writing this review is because the staff were so helpful. One of our party has a disability which would have made it impossible for her to stand throughout the event. Both the stewards and Amy, the lady in charge, were so helpful to us, supplying my sister with a comfortable seat in a reserved area ensuring that she had a good view of the stage at all times. Fantastic customer service! And the music was brilliant too!!

Great food, generous portions and reasonable prices. The staff are all really friendly and the atmosphere is top notch. Best place to grab a bite before a gig at St Luke's or the Barrowland imo.

My son and his girlfriend introduced us to the winged ox and we are so glad he did.The menu was excellent and extremely varied.The ambience was exciting.The staff were extremely attentive and polite. The food we ordered was extremely tasty.Tge cost of the meal was extremely reasonable Im excited to go back and try something else from the menu.

Food is amazing allways fresh and mouth watering friendly staff 110% recommend it wish I was closer to me.

I ordered an ox burger with pickles and brisket chilli. It wasn’t that impressive. It was as if the word flavour was being transmitted from deep space. Chilli is supposed to be a bit spicy, not today.

Really nice space. Bar and dining area is nice , quite a cosy feel but still spacious. Dog friendly and have a couple of dog things on the menu (I think chicken/sausage/ice cream) also have a good few vegan options! Reasonable pricing as well.

Three of us and a dog went for lunch after a stroll around the Barras. Dog friendly — good! Good range of beers including several alcohol free. But the house red wine wasn’t great but i suppose £6 was a decent price, ordered a glass of Malbec but £10+ was a bit excessive for around here. Tacos were pretty average with thin fillings that were deep fried. Mac and cheese a bit better, Vibes good and i would go back for a drink when music is on but thats probably it Im afraid.

Great atmosphere and food. The perfect pre gig spot.

A modest capacity for a modestly sized music venue, paling in comparison to the Barrowlands but with its own character to boot. The old organ behind the main stage setup is possibly the main selling point of the place - just such a naturally beautiful view behind a lovely modern lighting rig. Drinks are very reasonably priced too, albeit an absent cloakroom. It's also quite out the way compared to the likes of O2 Academy Glasgow, The Garage and Broadcast, but it's well worth the journey!

Friendly, helpful, and attentive staff, nice place, good atmosphere, good food especially the jalapeño bites were beautifully made, and the sourdough was absolutely perfect. The mac n cheese however was disappointing. It was just pasta with a bechamel sauce and a little cheese over the top. Mac n cheese is supposed to have a cheese sauce, and a little mustard through it brings a lot of rich flavour.

Seen Andrew Roachford here, brilliant intimate venue and brilliant artist, what a Christmas night out, the best!

Was in next door to watch my granddaughters Christmas show so we went in for a drink and we just loved the place didn't even know the place existed we are not from the area but would go back in a heartbeat and get a meal next time

Amazing spot, loved the atmosphere and the food was AMAZING. I got the Korean BBQ chicken burger and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had.

Really cool bar in old historic building, think it also has a music venue attached. Service was brilliant, server was over the second your glass was empty. Good big menu with lots of options on it too. The food was good. The boneless “wings” were absolutely massive and very tasty.

Went there for a concert. Didn’t have food or drink. It seemed to be popular as there were a lot of people in pub. The concert area is what looks like must have been a church before. It was raining and there was no shelter to stand while waiting to enter the venue. I took uber but check parking if you drive there as they don’t seem to have own parking. Enjoyed the concert when I got in. I had a special requirement which was dealt with efficiently .

in venue for the first time to see a band, The Rezellos. Great venue, fabulous backdrop, sound system was great. I will return.

Fantastic place to eat, food was amaizing and large portions of everything at our table . I had the fish and chips best iv had in a long time. Staff were super friendly and helpful and the place itself very comfortable and great place to go for just drinks too.

Really good food and great venue.. shame the staff rush you off the table you booked after one hour, and then don't listen when you tell them your waiting on a drink you've just ordered to be delivered to the table. Our drink order was cancelled and we were made to wait at the back to pay our bill. So rude.
