Vale Grill in The Vale of Glamorgan

The local Welsh Black Steak was probably the best steak I have ever had. Cooked to perfection and accompanied by a delicious blue cheese sauce. A first class meal served by friendly attentive staff - an experience to be repeated as soon as possible. My wife had the sea bass which too was excellent.

I booked the table (for 9) online as my Uncle and Aunt were visiting from Surrey, staying in Monmouth, so we thought it was a good midway point for them and for the rest of us who live in West Wales. The Vale is a 4 star resort so I felt confident booking despite not having visited before. My father and his brother don’t see each other often as they are in the their 80s and can’t drive or travel as easily these days - this was to be the first time they had seen each other for over a year. We had looked at sample menus online and the 2 courses for £23 seemed reasonable and with the resort being 4* we were confident of a good meal and excellent service. We arrived at the Vale at 1pm and met with the rest of the family who were already seated. A waiter came after a little while to take drink orders - ordering the drinks wasn't straightforward but they came in the end. (This waiter, I found out later was the restaurant manager) He then took orders for the meal. I ordered for my daughter and myself. My daughter had chosen chicken but didn’t want the beef dripping roast potatoes as she doesn’t eat beef. I asked for the vegetarian option which was a mushroom stuffed with spinach and mozzarella - I also declined the roast potatoes and Gun Jam said we could have mashed potatoes instead. I wasn’t confident of our requests, especially when he then proceeded to write down chicken for me even though I had said I was vegetarian. I had to correct him. No-one wanted a starter and we were surprised that after we had ordered our mains he returned to say that the two course price didn’t include the choice of starter or dessert, but only a starter. So we would be paying £23 for the main course then another £5 on top if we had a dessert. On hearing this a few of the party ordered a starter, but we did find this policy an odd one, and we hadn’t come across this before. It was well over an hour from arrival to the food arriving. There were water glasses on the table, but no water was offered - my mother had to ask for some and only one jug ever arrived - this was not enough for 9 people. When the food arrived both my daughter’s and my meals had the roast potatoes on them. Hers was also swimming in gravy which hadn’t been mentioned on the menu. When I asked the restaurant manager (who was waiting tables) about this he said it was mentioned on the menu and we should have requested it without gravy. I saw the menu again later and it does not mention gravy anywhere. Why do some meals come with gravy on the plate and others with a gravy jug? Very odd. He was quite argumentative. My daughter’s meal was taken away and reappeared with no potatoes at all. Same with mine. I went to the chef to complain and was told that the potatoes on the vegetarian meal are not cooked in beef dripping but by this time it was too late. I sat back down to try and eat what I had. I have attached photos of my plate. First of all I thought the mushroom was missing from the plate. It was under a tiny amount of spinach and cheese and was such a tiny mushroom it wasn’t worth having. It was in no way a suitable replacement for the meat alternatives. No mashed potatoes ever materialised. The meal consisted mainly of cabbage, a hard Yorkshire pudding and 3 wilted looking root vegetables. Very, very poor. The cauliflower cheese dishes appeared with no serving spoons so everyone had to use their dessert spoons to serve it. The chef had asked the hospitality manager to come over and we spoke about the issues with the food. He saw the size of my meal and how poor it was and agreed that I shouldn’t pay for it and that desserts would be free for us all. The plates were all cleared apart from mine - in the end I handed it to a passing waiter myself. The assorted jugs and cauliflower dishes remained on the table until after the desserts appeared. The serving of the desserts was shoddy. Too many pannacottas arrived and the young waiter was very confused about who had ordered what. We were almost putting up our hands for the apple cake so he could count us. How ridiculous. I want to point out that although it was me who complained and didn’t eat my meal, no-one in our party was satisfied with the food or the service we received. Two others in the party had the same dish as me and thought the mushroom was a ridiculous size. It also contained red pepper which hadn’t been mentioned on the menu and that didn’t suit them as they don’t eat pepper. When I went to pay for 3 family members, the restaurant manager didn’t know how to take part payment for a meal and had to ask another member of staff for help with the transaction. The lady said she couldn’t give me a receipt until the whole meal was paid for - again it’s strange I couldn’t have a card receipt to show what I paid. I have sent all this information to the hospitality manager in an email as requested. He has phoned me to offer a night's stay at the Vale for me and my husband. I explained that although it was me he spoke to on the day - no-one at the table was satisfied with their meal/service and compensating two out of 9 people isn't suitable. Also, we have no wish to return. I suggested that instead, all of the party could receive a full (or even partial) refund, but despite a promise to get back to me - I have never heard anything. I would not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. The family get-together was spoilt by the terrible service and food.

Very poor service, not enough staff, this includes Chefs and waitresses/ waiters. The assistant manager was very unhelpful & he did not have a clue how to resolve the never ending problems within the restaurant . We booked a table and was seated, we were told when we sat down, they needed the table back at 10:15pm, table was booked for 8:15pm for three people. Restaurant was busy with three big parties of golfers. Order was taken quickly, but Starters took over 40 mins to arrive , with one starter missing, which never did turn up, when we asked our waitress where the soup was she did not know, ended up cancelling it, as the kitchen had no idea how long I would have to wait for it. Main Course then took another 35 mins plus, they only had 2 chefs in the open kitchen, who looked overwhelmed and stressed, they had over 15 tickets/orders, they were unsure which ticket had came first, they had nobody helping them, so they were trying to cook the mains and work out who’s order was due next. When asked how long our main meal will be, we was told they were working on it and to give them 10-15 mins, one senior waitress then went to help the chefs, we was offered some bread while we waited. When the mains did arrived, food was ok, not the best, not the worst I have had. This restaurant needs more staff, a assistant manager who can work under pressure and resolve issue, if you are going to put it down to having 5 staff members off sick, I would suggest, you either call in other staff to cover the shortfall or not take so many orders of bar food, which put more pressure on a already understaffed kitchen. When the bill arrived , we were shocked to see you had add £13:80 service charge, which we asked to be removed. Big changes needed in this restaurant.

Well ordered two bar meals one was straightforward one was chicken fillet burger no hot sauce no blue cheese dressing when the meals arrived wot was on the chicken burger yesterday hot sauce it went back my husband's was cold so that went back two seconds meals yesterday my chicken burger had no hot sauce but was dripping in blue cheese so again went back my husband ate his meal while I waited for mine to come out a third time when it came out my husband had finished his so I ate on my own one waitress was useless but the other was great as was the bar man he gave us two free drinks and cancelled our bill ... Rightly so. We went to our room at 20:30 as our evening had been so stressful and by this time had had a gutsfull. We noted other patrons were sending their food back too. We won't be dining in the bar ever again it was a shambles

Visited Vale Grill after using the pool facilities. Great service at the bar. Ordered burgers which arrived promptly and our waitress was both polite and helpful. The burgers and fries were tasty and hot. Many thanks for an enjoyable lunch - will be returning soon.

A wedding party of 14 people had pre booked dinner in the restaurant. There were not enough staff. The service was extremely slow. The food took over 1 hour to arrive. The meals arrived incomplete without accompanying veg which was then another wait. Extremely poor

Very cold communal areas especially the restaurant! The food was great and the staff friendly and efficient. Because the restaurant was cold our food quickly got cold also . A tiny electric radiator was plugged in and curtains drawn but curtains were lifting away from the windows in the draught . Not good enough !! Staff we’re moving people around trying to find a table without direct droughts but it ended up with people sitting with their coats on . Bar was even worse as outside door from pool no area was constantly opening and cold air flooding in . I know it was cold outside but no excuse

The grill was booked same time as the booking of the rooms a very nice large room. Excellent way to services and good choices on the menu although it was a meal deal the pricing wasn’t too expensive. The quality of the food was the very high standard and I would certainly return again with no hesitation also the breakfast in the morning was up to a good standard with plenty of choices

Having attended the Gin making experience ( which was excellent) we booked a meal at the restaurant. Staff in the hotel were extremely helpful and courteous- however the restaurant was like a transport cafe. The risotto was more like a soup - noisy, the waiters talked over us at the table, my friend was almost knocked off her chair by a waiter and we were told to check our bill- which a bottle of wine had been added! It was taken off the bill but the whole experience was very disappointing. I contacted the manager twice to describe the evening, but had no response. The restaurant really let down the beautiful hotel and their staff.

Dinner bed and breakfast gift. Room great, although some noisy residents, nit too frequently or too late though. Evening meal.. meh, nothing special. Service below par. Breakfast OK but toaster not working and didn't offer to bring any. Coffee had sat there too long and was stewed and cold. Just customers in this restaurant I'm afraid, not guests. Staff mostly young, probably inexperienced at service... Won't rush back!

Our table was booked for six pm. We arrived and walked the corridor from reception to bar and restaurant. This corridor has a hospital vibe to it, not very luxury. Thankfully the bar and restaurant are very nice. We were greeted by a very polite and friendly young man, who showed us to our table. Our order was taken quickly and again the waitress was very friendly and professional. I ordered the fish cake, my wife the shredded ox tail in breadcrumbs. There was quite a wait for these to arrive, we were quite surprised as starters usually fly out. My fish cake was beautifully presented as you would expect and I very much enjoyed it. My wife’s starter was also very well presented but the ox tail balls were a little overdone I would say, a little dry and lacking flavour. They did not seem to have enough seasoning, in fact this was the theme of the night. Main course I had a rosemary marinated chicken with exploding tomatoes and think cut chips. The chicken was extremely bland, it was almost like a boiled chicken. The roast was pretty much nonexistent, the skin was not crispy so in my opinion was not pleasant to eat and was discarded. Honestly it was the most boring dish I have ever been served, a bit of salt and pepper brightened it up a little. We tried some garlic butter but that too was disappointing, it seemed like a frozen out of a packet offering that was microwaved. The baby tomatoes had cooked a little so when I stabbed them with my fork, exploded all over my shirt. It was very funny and not in anyway a criticism. The chips were amazing, some of the best I have had in our restaurant visits. My wife had the pork served with mashed potatoes, my wife asked me to try her mash and again it was very bland, not seasoned. Everything just tasted a little grey. The house wine was good, unfortunately the coke was flat as a pancake. I do not as a rule drink the table water if it’s from the tap. The waitress confirmed it was but I always give it a little try. This was really very pleasant, I assume they filter it. Onto desert my wife ordered the brownie and I tried the key lime tart. The brownies did not have that soft rich centre, they were a little dry and as a consequence not very tasty. My tart suffered the same fate, the base was dry not stale but like it had been left out a little too long. The centre of the base was still moist but the sides were hard. Both dishes would have benefited from a source or ice cream, I never understand why a restaurant skimp on this, it’s a cheap addition that goes a long way with customers. I spotted a new waitress, you can tell the new staff by the double death grip on the tray and the concentration, I must not spill these drinks. Had a little chat to her, she was very polite and friendly. All the staff were amazing to be fair, a credit to the company. We enjoyed our night and will give it another try, they just missed the mark a little.

The service was terrible, after booking in advance a table for 16 people, we were served about 3 hours later as nobody attended our table to take orders; when tried to complain, the manageress (Kathryn) was not helpful in anyway, on the contrary, she made the situation worse by not being sympathetic to our request (to eat!!))

We both thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea in the beautiful conservatory overlooking the golf course. The food was totally homemade and beautifully presented . Refills of tea and coffee was served by two young front of house servers who were well trained, attentive and very pleasant. I recommend the afternoon tea without hesitation, excellent value too. Also catered for my vegetarian wife. 👏 This resort is first class in all areas that we have experienced in the past from weddings to golf courses.

Told the chef I was starving when I went in restaurant. He replied you are in the right place, he was not wrong. Food and service excellent

Me & my partner went for afternoon Tea. Excellent service & food. Would recommend and book again. I’ve tried many places for afternoon tea, this was easily one of the best. Lovely tea room, it was too busy which meant a nice relaxed atmosphere overlooking the golf course. Perfect.

We visited the Grill on a Thursday evening for dinner with our young son and again for breakfast the following morning. The menu choices were varied and staff went over and above to accommodate our needs. We felt at ease eating with our toddler and enjoyed a really relaxing meal. We would definitely recommend and will return again.

I have been a member here for years and have started taking my grandchildren swimming again. This week we decided to have food in the Leisure bar. Never again. My 4 year old grandson wanted fish fingers which arrived so incinerated, he was unable to eat them. I had vegan nachos , but had to send it back as ingredients missing. My granddaughter had a baked potato which was so hard she had to leave half of it. My missing nacho ingredients did not appear after waiting 15 minutes and I asked for a refund as we were more than ready to leave. I was given my refund and told they would give feedback to the chef. CHEF???? They do not even have someone who can cook never mind a chef. No wonder the bar area was empty. Why can't some effort be made to produce food which is cooked properly. Surely that's not too much to ask. We will be going elsewhere now each Monday after swimming to eat.

I had a voucher for afternoon tea for my birthday. Lovely setting overlooking the green. Very pleasant member of staff, the food was excellent, well worth it.

Incredibly disappointed with the service. We turned up early and were the among first people through the door for evening service. Two painful hours later, after having to ask to order our mains, after waiting thirty minutes and two staff to get our bill we left disgruntled with a complaint that was met with nothing but a 'sorry'. The two tables around us also had a thirty plus minute wait for their bills and both had to hunt for staff to complain The starter was delicious, the main was an average steak, the desert arrived while the main course plates were still on the table. All in all, very disappointing service for average food

Stayed here in January on a dinner bed and breakfast deal, the choice and quality of food was superb! Service great as usual and the grill is set in a cozy space . Love it here and will be back

Hotel room was fine , but food was not as the on line choice and very expensive as it was a 6oz steak with a £5 supplement. My wife ordered the chicken and got a different dish.

Our group of 12 persons had the pleasure of having dinner last night here.Service was impeccable speedy but not rushed, or left wanting.Food we had been asked to pre order when we arrived earlier that day.Absolutely delicious each and every one of ours were cooked to perfection.Thank you staff of the Vale your service and attention to your customers is commendable

My wife and I went to the Vale Grill to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We had never been before and thought we would go somewhere different for the occasion. We really wish we hadn't. Service was very poor. I asked for a glass of Rose for my wife, she was given a glass of white. When I raised the issue a replacement was brought by a different waiter without apology and we never saw our original waiter again Obviously apologies are extra. When my trio of lamb arrived it consisted of 3 separate small portions of lamb, green and red tomatoes, celeriac, and 4 green beans. As I dislike tomatoes and celeriac I hoped and expected potatoes but no that was extra. I have never heard of a meat dish like this without potatoes! I went away hungry and when I raised the issue the manager clearly did not like any form of criticism and initially debated the point. No check back during the meal , not exactly cheerful staff. The lamb was ok but really is it too much to ask for potatoes and more common place veg? The gin soaked welsh cake for dessert had clearly not been any where near Gin.We will not return, lesson learnt. We will in future stick to our trusted formula of going to pub restaurants in the sticks as they rely on their quality and reputation rather than the complacency the Vale Grill seems to have.

Staff had poor knowledge of the menu when we enquired about a starter. There was a Hair in the lamb it took 20 mins to replace, therefore we had to eat our meals at different times. Wont eat here again, very overpriced compared to the quality elsewhere locally.

1 starter, 2 mains , 1 dessert , 1 bottle of wine - the wine was the best part because they couldn't mess it up!. Its a grill - not fine dining experience as it use to be a few years back. Head of house, if that's the correct name?, a young girl, was very rude until challenged, though the waitress was lovely. Main meal of ribeye steak £28 had to be sent back as it was overcooked and tough, cod was nice though. Triple cooked chips are huge - more like bricks - nice if you like that sort of thing. Its slightly better than a Harvester but 3 times more expensive. There are much better places to eat than this. The outside terrace is grubby - the ceiling is broken in places and brown, tables and hairs are shabby and its generally in a poor state - only made slightly better by the view - which is lovely.

Is not a place I will go again after find out by one of the chef the kitchen was shut down again by the FOOD STANDARD AGENCY for the same thing again lol a absolutely joke.

My husband and I went for lunch to the Vale resort and what a disappointment it was. It definitely wasn't all bad as the setting and the views over the golf course are stunning. However, it is badly let down by the following :

We ate after finishing our round of golf, the food choices on offer were fairly limited but food was fine and reasonably priced. Drinks are well priced as well.

Simply an amazing dish. Perfectly cooked succulent cod and crispy skin done on the grill with grilled tomatoes on the vine and triple cooked chips. The fish was served on a pea purée and its simply the best fish & chips I’ve had !

Not enough choice, food was warm but not hot, felt sorry for the person who had to serve 13 of us with drinks and food order

The room was nice as were the leisure facilities. The food in the grill restaurant however let this experience down. Firstly the confit of duck leg was drier than my nans sense of humour. This was followed by a crumble more messed up than this brexit situation. For an establishment to call itself 4 stars this should encompass a memorable dining experience at the very least. We will leave here with a bitter taste. And it won't be just because of the crumble.

Booked a tea for family members birthday The tea I honestly cannot recommend. Thickish sliced bread with the thinnest possible filling. Would have more filling during the war years rationing. The cakes were, I believe just frozen cakes from a catering supply company. Maybe one could have been freshly made. Tea was cold and no hot water.. I have been to the Vale hotel a few time for various functions and events but this visit was a big disappointment and to be honest very embarrassing as my birthday guest hardly ate anything due to the poor quality and tasteless food. It gives me no pleasure to write a poor review but I do hope these criticisms are taken on board by the catering manager. and the standard is upgraded.

Food, staff and service A++ Breakfast excellent. Good range of beers available. Also La Cucina restaurant on the comples is well worth a visit.

Not flexible enough -full when I wanted so asked if I could have a starter in the coffee bar next door -not possible

Great food. Great service. The food was hot, well prepared and very tasty. The service was prompt, professional an unobtrusive. I recommend it very highly.

Food was superb, can’t fault anything at all. Supplementary prices were fine. No issues at all. Staff were friendly and attentive. I felt no need to pay the upgrade to the a la carte menu.

We only had the 1 night. Eat in the bar at night ,the fish skewer was lovely. Breakfast is self service with plenty choice all nice and fresh ..cant fault this hotel.

Took my husband away for his birthday back to God's country, and booked into the restaurant, we always cook at home for each others birthday as we are usually disappointed......No need to be here, food was fantastic, Husband said the Halibut dish was stunning and I took a gamble choosing The fillet steak as restaurants never cook it right, but it was cooked to absolute Rare perfection. Very impressed and reasonably priced.

Breakfast and dinner here was fabulous on both accounts, felt stuffed both times and the staff was very nice and helpful to . Thankyou to the staff for making my first visit and my parents second visit very special. Hopefully see u all next year thankyou again Tracey Tillman

As part of the dinner, bed and breakfast package we decided to go for the set menu. As a vegetarian the choice was limited but what meals they did offer were of a very high standard.

The menu is eclectic and tastes delicious! The portion sizes are generous and excellent value for money. All produce is locally sourced and s supports local producers. I recommend the lamb and the coffee mousse. All staff were friendly the restaurant has a lovely vibe.

We booked a Sunday Lunch for a party of 5 of us, and none of us really enjoyed it – can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe we have been spoiled by some other establishments such as the Marketplace in Cowbridge, The Great House Laleston (when Tommy Heaney was there), etc, but there just seemed to be a slight blandness about this Vale meal, lacking flavour and seasoning, with rather tasteless gravy considering ‘chef’ cooked. Starters - two of our party had the Root Vegetable soup which was nice, but the Prawn Cocktails, oh dear, swimming in sea food sauce and not ‘presented’ as you would expect from a restaurant (as opposed to a pub). But it was the mains that seemed to lack something – don’t get me wrong if we were at a Harvester or Beefeater I would have been delighted … but this is a 4 star hotel. Two of us had fish, when it arrived it was some way between luke warm and cold – whilst this is not necessarily a reflection of the cooking, it was probably plated out by the cooks, but a delay before the waiters brought it over – they did say later they were short-staffed when we were pointing out a discrepancy with our bill. We asked for the 10% gratuity they added to the bill to be removed because we thought it was an extremely long wait between courses.

We were first in the restaurant, we ordered the child’s meal first and that came fairly quickly. We ordered our meals and after 45 minutes I asked a waitress ( all waitresses were great) she could not believe we had not had our main course. Shortly afterwards the manager came over and said that the medium well steak was the problem as it takes longer!! When I asked if it took 40 minutes longer he then told us that food was prepared.in order which I totally accept only we were the second table to order and 50 minutes later we receive our food - obviously forgotten our order which happens but to blame a medium well steak???

We stayed in the Vale hotel for 2 nights and had breakfast both mornings, afternoon tea and evening meal. The staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was buffet style but extremely nice and constantly refreshed. The afternoon tea was superb and the evening meal was outstanding. Portion, flavours and textures were Devine, a real highlight of our stay. My one negative has nothing to do with the food but with the music. We heard the same tracks 4 times in one day which by the end just took the shine of what was a very enjoyable experience

Dinner for 4 on 30th Dec. 2018. Superb meal perfectly cooked and served. Steak was best I'd had for some time. Cod was absolutely beautiful, fresh and again perfectly cooked. The trio of Welsh Lamb was again perfect. In all a very satisfying meal served by attentive and friendly staff.

Credit to cooks here. The food was cooked very satisfactory. The presentation of the food was also amazing.

I’m a loyal member at the golf club and have breakfast most Friday and Saturday mornings. Something haven’t been right over the last couple of weeks. Service is great as always but the food hasn’t been the best quality

The restaurant has changed a lot since my last visit, not least in its location within the hotel. It is now a really nice steak grill, the quality of the food excellent, and the staff very friendly, willing to offer advice on wine to go with the food, and other choices. The restaurant is very comfortable, and with a nice atmosphere. We went into Cardiff for the second night of our stay, and had a very disappointing meal, a huge contrast to the Vale - should have simply used the Vale both nights. Will be back again.

The food here was nice in the bar, I've eaten in the restaurant before which was also nice. I was surprised to find it was self service, seems odd in such a grand hotel. Eating alone meant I had to keep leaving the table to order drinks or a dessert. Other than that, the food was nice.

Booked a family meal here for 13. Excellent, well presented food. Nice Sunday menu choice for adults and children. Clean, tidy, professional service. Nice outside area to sit afterwards for coffee overlooking the shorter lake course.

Monday night. Not particularly busy. Decided to go for bar food. Waited 40 minutes for fish and chips. I am willing to bet that the kitchens don't let the diners in the posh restaurant wait that long. Not cheap. Average at best. Decor looks a bit tired. Staff OK.

Visited here for our wedding menu tasting. Lovely atmosphere and the food is great! Staff very friendly and helpful. Head chef was great!

Take a look at the menu on their website and you will see that the prices are quite reasonable. The food on the other hand is exquisite: best steak my husband has had for a long time - big chips were a bit debatable though. Trio of Welsh Lamb was so tasty and beautifully cooked. On the second night we opted for the Duck with Orange and Ginger sauce which had an Asian twist and I had the Braised Beef Shin - again superb!!

Not a large selection of food on the menu. Disappointing that when I went to get a drink, didn't get served as waiter decided to put out the newer menus instead. No explanation provided, so waited for another 5 minutes to be served. I didn't mind waiting, but it would have been nice for him to say that he would only be a minute, or get another colleague in the meantime.

Went for a swim used the gym and all facilities staff at gym and reception were great and friendly but at the restaurant a celebrity with a big party of guests arrived after us and got the very best service straight away table service lemon and ice in drinks cutlery brought to them staff asked them if everything was ok ECT we wasn't even served until after they had eaten and left the building .appalling service tossed aside for celebrity guests . We are members that pay alot every month to use the facilities so I was very upset today. Had I but known we'd of dined elsewhere ....and certainly won't be returning. Clearly all the staffs effort was put into impressing the celeb and had orders from higher above to concentrate on the celebs. That much was clear. It appeared as though extra staff were on just for that occassion. Once the celeb had left their wasn't a staff member in sight . We were planning on a weekend spa break here . But after this..this won't be the case unfortunately

Amazing food , the quantity is just right , the taste of everything is exquisite.

Lovely meal, more vegetables would have been nice, prompt with food and friendly we were party of five all enjoyed their food.

Booked afternoon tea for a friend & I after having a delicious cream tea at a spa day many years ago which we were reminiscing about. On the pricey side but didn't expect any different for the Vale & didn't mind as a birthday treat. The staff member that served us was lovely, polite & courteous on seating us & promptly brought our tea & sandwiches... that was the last we saw of him however, no one came to check that everything was ok, and we eventually gave up and went to track him down to ask for another pot of tea (was again lovely and courteous when serving us). The display looked lovely, however the bread of the sandwiches were dry on arrival, I'd asked on booking in advance to not have horseradish on the beef sandwiches, and in all honesty it just seemed like it had been scraped out, because we could still taste it a little & had the thinnest slice of beef. As for the hummus sandwich... the most boring, dry, tasteless filling you could ever ask for... why it is in there I do not know, the avocado & tomato one not being far behind, the rest were nothing special either. The scones we're ok, but dry & crumbly... only saved by the cream & jam. The milk was also served in a chipped/cracked jug. Disappointed overall & would not recommend.

Think the title probably says it all. Hubby had the lamb, I had the cod . All cooked to perfection . We shared a very lovely dessert.

Everything was brilliant with the staff and food although when I asked for an extra slice of bread I was told I would be charged for it. There for a weekend and spent a fortune so it left a bit of a sour taste.

Quality food and friendly helpful staff. Eating at the Vale Grill is recommended. All the dishes looked inviting but I went for the Lamb. Wow. It was amazing. The quality of the meat was second to none.

This is a great place to eat and I have to say the food has always been wonderful when I have eaten here.

The is a great place to eat we were staying at the resort, breakfast and dinner were part of the package. The staff are very good and nothing is too much trouble, they are always happy to see you and take time to talk to you while taking your order. The food was always of a very high standard and freshly cooked. The wines were very good and not over priced.

Was given a menu to peruse and went to place an order only to find out it was an old menu.

Visited the vale grill. Not much selection on the menu. Did have a burger and chips. When arrived did look very nice. But the chips were cold and the burger was full of little fatty bits, and not cooked properly all the way through. Place seems to be run by a load of youngsters that obviously dont know how to use a sweeping brush. Alot of mess on the floor that the waiter added to by brushing all the crumbs off the tables onto. Seating was really badly stained. Not what you would expect from a hotel off this standard

A farewell afternoon tea party was arranged by colleagues for a retiring friend earlier this month. Around 50 people attended, all prepaid and looking forward to a lovely occasion on a summer's afternoon. We were located in a wonderful large conservatory area within the main hotel, set up with large tables which was perfect, but the afternoon tea itself was anything but.

Attending a wedding the next day we had made a reservation for 12 members of the family two months before for dinner, When we arrived they didn't have any info about our reservation! To be fair they did find room, but never apologised for the wait.

During our stay we had 2 breakfasts in the restaurant. The food is good,and sitting in the large conservatory overlooking one of the golf couses is a must

Well the food at the Grill would make you want to eat hotel food! As you may guess other hotels have failed to make the mark but this one does. The sharing platter was more than enough for two the lamb chops were really excellent as was the Carmarthen ham would miss out the watercress and apple soup. Both mains were thoroughly enjoyed and replacing the sweet potato mash with mustard mash was appreciated.

Luke in the bar has been so so helpful. We have been here for over 3 weeks now and all the staff are great, food is a bit limited but just try the restaurant.

Great service. I had a tuna sandwich which was in fresh white bread with crisps and salad. All was very fresh, plenty of it and good value for money.

Food was amazing at the grill restaurant. Really nice and looked fab!! Service was great, waiters were efficient and professional. Would definitely eat there again. Breakfast next morning was also good, this was just standard hotel breakfast but nonetheless was lovely. Plenty of food to choose from and we were brought tea and coffee straight away after being seated.

lovely spacious restaurant, great staff, lovely food, free prosecco as it was our anniversary, absolutely fab.

Just ate here this evening and currently back in my hotel room. Very limited menu but starving so needs must. Nice layout and set up with friendly waitress. Seabass for starter which was on a bed of slushy tomato pulp. Steak for main was very salty, chips were not all cooked properly

My wife and I had an evening meal and breakfast here while staying at the Bale Resort. The meal was very nice and we liked the way you can see your meals being prepared in front of the restaurant. Breakfast there was ample choice and the staff could not do enough to help and assist. Will be back.
