Consistently neglectful service, sullen staff. I'll go now for the odd loaf - good sourdough - but I've had enough of the grumpy faces.

Attended to purchase takeaway bread and pastries. Also sat in for a coffee - very very small latte for £2.80 and a toasted sourdough sandwich. Well the sandwich had been sitting out ?? for how long , I asked could it be heated up and they said no - not currently serving hot food in the cafe ! The cold sandwich had previously been overcooked and the crusts could not be eaten- what a shame —overpriced at £5.00 . Currently I feel very nauseated- possibly from the sandwich. So overall I’m not really that impressed- seems very overpriced. I am hopeful that the takeaway breads will be good

We have followed and drooled over Ursa Minor for so long and with Covid were unable to get there until now and wow it is well worth the wait! We got the turmeric sourdough loaf and it is amazing . We also got a morning bun which was very tasty although I’m used to orange as well as cinnamon in a morning bun. We also got a salad to go and it was beautiful. Hopefully we’ll get back soon . Sadly, even as a local and frequent customer, I have found the staff and owners to be extremely unfriendly. Worst of all, the coffee isn’t even particularly special and the pastries, bread, and food are all shocking prices. You would do your tastebuds and wallet a favor to skip this one-stop-shop. MAJOR disappointment for Ballycastle!

Lovely cakes and pastries, homemade so understandably expensive, main menu bit pretentious. Service takes forever. What really 'gobsmacked' me was that they don't do decaffeinated coffee or tea, all that high tech machinery and barista faffing about but they can't make a decaf!! Even the 'ordinary' cafes in town can rustle one up so there really is no excuse here.Mostly for tourists and day trippers, doubt a huge amount of locals are regulars.

Was here today and plenty of lovely staff but terribly trained and uncertain. Food was very late...porcine soup was fabulous with toasted bread but friend waited extra 15 mins for Welsh rarebit and it only came because she went up to til to ask where it was. They have a great place here with location and fab products but menus on table, clear orders and better use of space for more positive experience. Please invest in proper staff training and customer service. You need a clear divide for shop at front and cafe at back to keep things simpler.

Okay. So the price is on the upper end of the scale, I paid £4.8 for a friand and a long black/Americano (never sure what the varying countries call it). So that's AU$9.20 which is, well, extortion back in Sydney, BUT, it's a small town/village, with fantastic products, who relies on tourist trade (I can only assume) and a small amount of local, and I'm one who's more than happy to pay for quality consumption when I'm away from home. The friand was the perfect amount of almond, the texture moist and the flavour was full: the coffee was well rounded with a decent body, medium roast and not at all bitter. As a self confessed coffee snob, who's traveled the world for 30 years in search of great coffee, for my money this place is bang on for what they produce. They'd not be out of place in Sydney, Melbourne or Italy for coffee, nor France or Australia/NZ for the baked goods I had. Five stars. I am a fan.

I’ve been to Ursa Minor a few times. The couple that run it are excellent bakers. The croissants are superb and the sourdough bread is the best around. But that’s where the praise stops. The cafe is very pretentious. The seats are uncomfortable and tables are sticky. The coffee is good, but served in tiny mugs at £3 a pop. The centre of the cafe has a long table, but you can’t put any food on there as it’s cluttered with books about making sourdough. We know you make good sourdough, but how’s about a wee bit more space to eat?Come on guys, get with the programme. You are superb bakers, but your décor needs much improvement. Keep water bottles and glasses on the table, get a range of newspapers in, expand your breakfast menu and please make your coffee sizes bigger (or bring your prices down!)

Had promised my family, who are vegan, a fabulous coffee experience. Today coffee was being served in disposable cups. We were refused mugs...despite explaining our preference for mugs both for environmental reasons and the coffee experience. This is the second time I have found the boss of this cafe unhelpful, his poor attitude to customers needs addressed. There was only one vegan bun option which was dry and tasted of bicarbonate of soda.. not good. My almond croissant was also over baked and dry. This was £17 badly spent. We would have been better getting carry out coffees from the garage. Sorry cafe owners we will not be back. But your sourdough bread is very good

Regrettably visited here on a recent trip to Ballycastle. Unlike other bad reviews regarding customer service, we were served by a pleasant member of staff however this was the only highlight. We arrived at approx 10am and were surprised to see just how little there was to choose from. We were forced into buying 2 hard cinnamon swirls. My black lab could've chewed all day on it. To me it seems like somewhere people go just to be seen. If you like overpriced, pretentious, rubbery buns, then this is the place for you. Also on a side note, I couldn't believe the arrogance that they actually sell their own t-shirts/mugs etc who wants this rubbish. There is a far better, normal priced, beautiful wee bakery across the street. Far better value for money than this tripe.

After doing a little research on our way to Ballycastle trying to find a nice little place for brunch, a google search found what appeared to be a beautiful, rustic eatery claiming to have a menu with locally sourced produce but with no menu on the website we trusted that we’d love it. We walked in and waited on the waitress at the counter to seat us but after a couple of minutes she seemed to be very busy and unwelcoming so we just went on ahead and seated ourselves, which was fine. After going on a hunt for a menu we soon found out that the option of locally sourced ‘new and exciting’ produce amounted to granola, eggs and bread and eggs and bread topped with granola. After waiting quite a while, we still hadn’t been served when only 2 other customers in the cafe. Based on the abrupt attitude of the waitress on the way in and lack of options, we decided to skedaddle, with little care given by the waitress. We later went back for a coffee to go, which was actually really beautiful but unfortunately the service was still extremely poor by the same person, with a very rude attitude - very disappointing as this place has so much potential but the missing pieces lie in a simple welcoming smile and a few more menu options.

After waiting a further 15 mins for our order to be taken I had to go up and order my self then to be told one of the 3 limited lunch options was sold out i ordered the syrup flu hot beverage then to be told it was also sold out. I don't understand how with such a limited lunch menu things can run out especially if it's simply a vegetable based menu! We were taken here by friends who live locally. Primary we went for the home made sour dough bread which is amazing. A large whole meal and white will cost just £2. There are lots of other breads to try including spelt. The menu is small but very interesting and is all whole heathy food. My wife had a hummus sandwich and our friends had poached eggs, all with various trimmings. There are speciality teas and coffees. I had a vegan veg pot which was millet and salad based topped with vegan cream cheese and hummus. There are delicious cakes on display to eat in or take out. The decor is deliberately distress with quite dark oracular colour. Lots of seating and s middle section that holds lots of interesting cookery books to read. A very good place to eat and shop. Ballycastle is a nice coastal village full of small, decent shops. The ferry to Rathlin fun’s from here. The Dark Hedges, of Game of Thrones fame is just a few miles away. Shall definitely go there again when in the area.

Have been a number of times to Ursa Minor and really enjoyed the experience - but not as much this time. We ordered the "Bakers Brunch" - 2 slices of sourdough with eggs, feta cheese, wilted leaves (spinach I think) and olive oil. Tasted OK; bread tasted good but had a very hard and tough crust (not typical of their bread). One egg was runny one was hard plus about a heaped teaspoon of crumbled feta. Flavours decent but a bit unbalanced - too much dry bread. This we followed with coffees and a slice of cake. Both excellent though the portion of cake was rather small. The bill came to £30 which seemed pretty steep given the low-cost ingredients. What they are trying to do is good - proper artisan approach to simple foods - but not done as well as we had come to expect. Service was OK - though we did not get the coffees we ordered - but the otherwise very pleasant room was very noisy with young children running around. Given how much we have enjoyed Ursa Minor in the past we will be back in the hope we got a (slightly) off-day.

Excellent sour dough bread and baked treats were the highlight - bakers brunch was a nice take on a Caesar salad style dish. The bread is baked downstairs with skill and an obvious passion for the craft. Coffee was good, we had americanos so can't comment on how other brew methods tasted. Definitely top of the list for coffee / brunch in Ballycastle.

Visited Ursa Minor on Tuesday 29th August we popped in for coffee and cake and I was not disappointed I had the most delicious apple doughnut I have ever tasted in fact it was so amazing that I had to go get another one. Coffee was good as well and interior of shop was understated and relaxing. There is not a huge menu but in my opinion this place could survive selling the doughnuts alone.

I was so looking forward to trying this place out but, oh dear, what a disappointment. I am very wary about posting poor reviews about a business as I am aware of the negative impact it can have on trade. However, in this case I feel I have no alternative. Good points: lovely, friendly staff. Then, unfortunately it's all downhill from there. We went in on the second day of the Lammas Fair. Surprisingly, they were not overly busy. We told them we were eating in and ordered a tea and a coffee which arrived in two small cardboard cups. Two donuts - NOT the ones we ordered - arrived to us on paper napkins. No milk; no sugar. We had to go searching for them. No spoons or wooden stirrers available. All this for £8.20. The drinks and eats were gone in two seconds. Then, to add insult to injury, no toilets!!!! What a let down. Management please take note. Some serious work required here.

We popped in for a tea and a coffee. Our order did nt arrived although the rest of our party had their order. They gave our order to someone else , we waited a further 15 mins, no apology. Just not worth the wait especially as it was in a paper cup.

We arrived mid-afternoon and they were sold out of most of their food, but that was ok, we really just came for the coffee anyway which was really good! It's a nice cosy place and looks like it's very child friendly.

Nicely decorated with stripped wood floors, eclectic dining furniture and great ambience for adults and families. Menu is a bit limited but what that do, they do very well. Bakers brunch is well priced and all of the ingredients, homemade bread, eggs, tomatoes, pesto, are super fresh. We also had the salad bowl which was well balanced with fresh beetroot and nutty bulgar wheat. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Simple toast and butter taken to the next level!!! I had a cinnamon roll/ bun the scone like texture was perfect with layers of sugar and spice you didn't need butter with it so I don't think it was a bread mix but boy was it good !!! Will definitely be back xxxooo

It was so great to find a veggie, vegan friendly place in this corner of the world! The place is really airy and the options were healthy, wholesome, comforting and filling. Everything comes with their signature sourdough bread, made fresh on the premises with completely natural ingredients. You can even by the bread and take it with you. The menu frequently changes but there's always a vegan option.

Ursa Minor is a modern coffee shop serving delicious bread, cakes and pastries baked on the premises. It also provides a limited but interesting menu. All vegetarian with vegan options. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the options available.

1250pm today called in for coffee on our first visit to Ursa Minor to be met by disinterested staff who abruptly suggested we go for a walk and come back because the kitchen were not taking any more orders. First impressions were not good....

Ursa Minor moved to much better premises in Ballycastle and is now very smart and much better than before (if rather noisy). Still expensive though but you pay for the handmade, twee cakes.

At Ursa Minor I had the best latte I've tasted in Northern Ireland. You can also visit the bakery down stairs and see their wonderful breads being made.

Best chips in Workington. The service is quick, staff are always really friendly. This is a busy cafe because the food is fantastic. Lots of great food, great price - would highly recommend ☺️

We stayed here for 2 nights and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The rooms are large, bright with some spectacular views and those special touches such as little toiletries for your use. The bath in our room was so opulent I could have stayed in there all evening. The dining area is quite niche you can have quiet discreet corners for a romantic evening or more open. The food is excellent- if I had 1 thing to say that was negative, it would be that I wouldn’t have a starter so I could have a dessert, I found each time I did I just didn’t have room to have one! The main thing for me was the staff. The staff quite simply made it for me. NOTHING was too much trouble, they were friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond , yet at the same time let us be. If you want somewhere, where you can be comfortable, away from it all and have excellent accommodation and food this is the place.

Sad to say that our trip there was a a big disappointment when it come to the food. We all had beef, it was dry and chewy. When we talked to the waiter, we have been told that is the way the chef does it. It is a shame that they only sell well done cuts of meat...

My friend and I called in here whilst in Wigton and had a bacon buttie and a barista butties both of which were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had a latte which was lovely and my friendcsaid her cappuccino was one if the vest she'd had. The staff were so helpful and friendly and we will definitely return.

Since discovering this little gem we no longer visit the area without popping in. The chocolate twists are generously sized, nice and buttery, and the coffee is divine. The staff are more than happy to cater to all my awkward needs and questions with a smile - nothing is too much trouble!
