This was advertised as a Hilton Double Tree Afternoon Tea at the Urban Meadow Cafe. Having had good experiences staying in these hotels, we thought nothing could go wrong. So for my birthday I booked an afternoon tea for my wife, daughter and myself. On reflection, I don't think Urban Meadows can be part of the Hilton Double Tree delivery, but that isn't how it was advertised. First, the guy who ran the place stank, proper, never washed, old clothes scanky stink. Hard to be within 2 metres of him. And the smell lingered after he left. Then the food came and it was nothing like the photographs or the written description. Just a couple of manky egg and processed cheese sandwiches. Not very filling and of such low quality materials, it was like being back in the 70's, when processed food was at its zenith. We showed them the advert where it said, smoked salmon, cream cheese, coronation chicken and they said they didn't have any, but that we could have something off the menu for free. We ordered, and started eating what had arrived. The food was horrible (surprise). I struggled to cut through the scone it was so hard (if they let me upload videos I put one up of my daughter knocking it on the table and it staying whole), the cakes were the cheapest, flavourless ones from a wholesaler. No spoons for the drinks, only wooden sticks, this didn't add to the 'valued customer' experience. When we caught one of the servers eye we told them to cancel the food they were making for us. There was no way we were waiting to eat anything else that came out of the same kitchen as that afternoon tea. We left loads, and I hardly ever leave food. Please, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

I had to wait 10 minutes to have a menu and the staff was kinda rude. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to spend a nice evening

I booked an afternoon tea service for my family. The place is clean, with nice decor, but it was difficult to attract the attention of a server, though the place was nearly empty. When RT was served, we waited half an hour for the sandwiches and cakes to arrive, only to discover there had been a miscommunication in the kitchen. Finally, the food did arrive, but it was nothing special. it was difficult to tell the egg salad sandwiches from the chicken salad sandwiches. They also forgot to include the chocolate cake mentioned on the menu. I expected perhaps a discount on the food, but no. The music selection was loudish synth pop, which seemed odd, given the otherwise calm atmosphere.

Afternoon Tea was nicely presented. However the selection of savory was kind of bland, tasteless. Selection of sweets were delicious. Service was quite slow and at the end we couldn't find restaurant staff at all and the person from the hotel said "I have no idea we're staff of the restaurant is" which was frustrating. At the end he thankfully was able to help us out with the bill. Fun fact, at the outside chalkboard the price of the Afternoon Tea was £37 and on the menu £35. Thankfully £35 was charged.

Not recommended for Germans. We waited for almost an hour and only after asking did we receive a pantry consisting of 2 croissants and 2 puff pastry raisin rolls. We didn't get any butter or jam. In addition, the latte is very small and can be drunk in 5 sips. The hot chocolate, on the other hand, was large and delicious.

Bad! The people working there fail to take the order correctly. You have to ask where the food ends up. Then it turns out that they haven't caught what you order. Don't apologize. At the same time as you have to pay a tip because it is baked into the bill. Unbelievably bad! Hadn't tipped a penny. Stay away from this place!

Beautiful trendy venue, squeaky clean too, amazing food, even if on the pricey side... Kudos to Jay for his outstanding customer service, the gentleman did not go the extra mile, he went the extra light year!! I know how annoying I can be, even like this the gentleman (Jay) made me feel very special and valued. That gentleman deserves a raise!

Ordered a couple of lattes. Felt this was overpriced, even for London. We didn't think they tasted like lattes.

Visited here yesterday for a pre-booked afternoon tea at 2pm. Received a telephone call to double-check we would be going, which I saw as a good sign. Upon arrival, I was asked to provide evidence of our booking. I could only share the Open Table app confirmation and email. That proved a problem. No clue why. We were finally told we could sit anywhere. Waited for our tea...informed a waitress why we were here, and she went to chase. 15 minutes later, it arrived, without plates. Again, I had to chase. The selection was basic at best, with one cup of coffee and one tea provided. Not like in their photos. I asked if it was possible to order 2 cocktails and was told I needed to order at the bar. Where I was told because I was requesting a cocktail, there would be a 7-10 minute wait. Laughable given they weren't busy. Prior to this, we had requested more milk for our tea and coffee. This arrived in a teacup, with a saucer. The service was extremely poor. Therefore, I refused to pay the service charge. Considering this is linked to a large hotel chain, the whole experience was lacking and disappointing. There are better places to go. Avoid.

Lots of expectations given the pleasant room. The prices displayed are false, the food frozen and the drinks undrinkable. To flee !

The staff were super lovely here and hospitable! We had a fantastic time for afternoon tea. Atmosphere of the place is great, definitely feels like a chilled, little tucked away meadow right by Kensington Gardens - Hyde Park. Lovely place to sit outside on a summers day. Food was fantastic quality, all very tasty and fresh. Plenty of tea options plus prosecco was a fun bonus. Would highly recommend and will be back. Service can be just a tad slow at times, but made up for the staff are accommodating and didn't really affect our experience, our food for example came pretty quick/timely.

Go your way! I had a salad, bland with low quality products. It's expensive for the quantity and quality. In addition, the staff is not really friendly. The toilets are in the hotel next door, the staff there were quite upset having to open the doors....

Unfortunately, a bad experience, they are very rude, the person in charge does not have a good and friendly relationship with the customer. I do not recommend this place at all.

We went in spite of poor reviews, though some of course were good. The food was not bad though it was not until after the meal that we discovered that the tomato soup, described in the online menu as Roast Bell Pepper, Chilli, Coconut & Tomato Soup with sourdough toast 5.50 was actually Heinz tomato soup out of a can with fresh toast, judging by the large microwave with a whole pack of the aforesaid soup visible where a door had been left open. We were mainly served by the most charming waitress who was absolutely doing her best but for some of the time seemed to be the only one on duty. Eventually we turned ourselves into windmills which seem to be the only way of ever getting the wait staff to come and help us. When they did they were fine. The restaurant was not over-busy.

Sadly, so much potential but silly things let this establishment down. Many options on the Mains menu were not available. Of the 5 options 3 were not available. No kids menu available. Extremely good location and friendly staff.

It’s a Hilton hotel bar. It had hotel guests working in the bar area which makes for an odd atmosphere. The bar looks nice but service was poor. To charge £1.50 service automatically to your bill when they can’t serve an overpriced cocktail correctly is annoying. We stayed for one drink. There is outside seating for summer.

Wonderful service by Tiny, Krishna and Agniezska. All we asked we were served. Splendid, proffesional and polite. We would recommend the breakfast as very satisfying. Thank you all for this realy nice experience.

Took a client into the cafe for a coffee meeting, rude staff and we waited over 30 minutes for a flat white & peppermint tea to arrive, despite enquiring with staff as to our order with no other customers in the queue.

The environment and scenery here are as good as ever. I won’t comment much on the food because I haven’t tried much.

Friendly and attentive waiters, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Have been here many times and always keep coming back! Also the terrace is amazing in warmer weather!

On my remote working days which are normally 2 days a week, I try to find nice cowarking cafes in london and work from there! Like many others i went to this cafe today. I ordered some food around 12.30 in the afternoon and started working! Was working till 5.30 when this guy came and introduced himself as director of operations and told me that he is watching me sit here whole day and ordering nothing. When i told i ordered food in the afternoon he started explaining i am using electricity wifi and need to spend minimum £10/ hour to sit and work there. Then when I stopped him and told him £10/hour is too much and i wont normally spend that much to work from a workable cafe! He saw the situation might turn wrong , he started explaining what he is doing to make the ambience better for everyone that come and work and also introduce some membership! But when I asked what should be the minimum spend now, be said atleast £10 per hour! The way he approached , i found very rude and unprofessional! He was on duty on feb 27, 2024 around 5.30 pm! I think there should be clear rule mentioned and needs to be informed before a customer enters a cafe that he needs to spend £10/hour to sit and work! Also I highly believe, this rule is not for everyone and the guy targeted me for some reason, i don’t know the reason though! I would request the management to look into this matter and inform guests before hand if there is such rules! I found it highly de gratifying and shameful!!

We were given this afternoon tea as a present. The menu for the afternoon tea looks good... but fails to deliver. "Mini brioche and sandwiches Ham, cheddar and mustard Chicken and pesto Cucumber, crème fraiche and smoked salmon Egg mayonnaise and cress." What we actually got was four very small squares of sandwich each, consisting of just the smoked salmon and the egg mayonnaise. Some small cakes as described and a scone. Some of the bread was not the freshest we've ever had, not stale, just not as soft as fresh bread. We were only offered one cup of tea or coffee. Every other afternoon tea we've had at other venues at least offered us additional drinks. It's not as if the place was busy, there were only a few occupied tables. As for atmosphere and ambiance, there was none, especially as the cleaner was hoovering around us and then using a floor polisher.

Lovely afternoon tea experience! On arrival we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from Enrich who showed us to our table. We were served by Renju who was attentive, accommodating and professional. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and highly recommend this venue. We look forward to returning.

Offer and picture shown in offer was not the same. Per person: 2 tiny brioche buns , 2 tiny 3 inch square sandwiches, 4 small patisseries. Not good value for money.

Ok it was a Groupon but I would never pay £35 per person for such a small amount of food and 1 and a bit cup of tea,I now see why it's always quiet

First time to visit, afternoon tea was not worth it, tea came first after we finished the tea then we got the food, portions were small and low quality of desserts. We asked for extra’s that they didn’t bother to bring. Disappointed honestly and will not be going back again.

We booked for afternoon tea but having waited for an hour, we were told they couldn't get any sandwiches from the supermarket so couldn't give us tea. They offered us anything from the main menu and a glass of prosecco. However, no apology about the lack of afternoon tea. I wouldn't go back.

Terrible experience. Worst customer service ever. The waiters were cold and nonchalant, none wants to help you and no apologise for extreme delays (although it was empty). The food was industrial quality, (warm to cold) tea comes without spoons or sugar, you have to ask and wait for them. Avoid this place at all costs !!

The person A (assume he was in charge) at the counter couldn’t find our booking and when I showed all confirmations, he still wasn’t happy about it. He finally acknowledged the booking and said we can sit down. Safe to say we did not feel welcome. We then waited for 15 minutes and nothing happened so we asked person 2 and he was so helpful throughout our reservation. The person A probably needs some customer service training but we are very grateful for the person 2 (probably quite new but that didn’t stop him from being incredibly nice to us) for making our experience good.

We had Christmas dinner here. Staff wasn't very quick and made lots of mistakes. Food was okay, but certainly not (very)good. Breakfast is fine, but for anything else, I would skip this place for sure.

When we arrived at our table, the table was not ready, we were given small round table for 4 people. Had to go to the counter as there were plates and cutlery missing from the table. After we had finished, we were told by the waiter that we should have been given bigger table. Service was very poor; waiters were not prepared to serve. Afternoon tea was not as good as I had in other places. They were not prepared for our dietary requirements. Atmosphere was not festive. We did not get value for our money. No experience of serving afternoon tea, I only booked as it is part of Double Tree Hilton and thought they would have the experience, but I was proven wrong. We were not given choose of tea, just was asked tea or coffee. In my experience of Afternoon Tea there is always selection of different tea given, not here at Urban Café. It took 20 min to 30 min to serve coffee at both time we ordered. I do not recommend afternoon tea at Urban Meadow Cafe & Bar, don’t waste your money and time, choose another which will cost similar amount. Claiming compensation for not so good experience If they had zero, I would give them zero rating.

Exceptionally poor service and an atmosphere that can be best described as an overpriced school canteen. There were not short of staff in any way and only one pager table of the whole place was occupied and still they simply could not figure out how to serve afternoon tea to a family of four. The staff was kind, but completely disoriented. They served us cognac in an IKEA water glass, took half an hour to prepare an offensively tiny amount of food and entirely forgot our prosecco orders after asking about it twice. If I was a Hilton manager, I would be embarrassed to run this dump.

Extremely slow service when theu had 4 people on waiting staff and 2 tables of people in the netire place. Entirely forgot to serve us pir drinks. Absolutely unacceptable in every way.

We had a Groupon voucher for a festive 3 course dinner here. When we went in, we were told to sit at a table to the side. The staff then never came near us for about 35-40 mins to ask what we wanted. We didn’t have a menu or any cutlery on the table, and hadn’t even had a drinks order yet. When we ordered, the festive menu offered a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings for meat eaters and only a small risotto for veggies, and the vegan option was the same risotto with no cheese in it, both of which are not really comparable to what a meat eater gets. However, we ordered and our first course came, then it took about 40 mins to get our mains. Once we ate our mains we were more than an hour before we seen our deserts. We had to go and ask the staff when it would be coming as we had been sitting waiting for over an hour. The staff said they must of forgot about you, they went to the kitchen and about 20 mins later we were served sticky toffee pudding, which was cold. The staff weren’t the friendliest to be honest, they looked as though they were trying to do as little as possible, until managers came through the restaurant, they would make themselves look busy. They never approached the table to find out how our meal was going, or to see if we required any further drinks. Instead, they would be chatting to one another and on their mobiles. Once we were served our cold desert, we left, as by now we had spent 3 hours in the restaurant and were absolutely fed up. We were supposed to also have coffees and mince pies, but could stomach waiting for these. We normally dine in a lot of Hilton and doubletree hotels, but this has to be the worst dining experience we have ever had. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, there was about 5 other tables dining, so there was no excuse for such poor service, as it wasn’t like they were rushed off their feet. We left very disappointed in our experience and will not be back to this hotel, it was a total waste of time and money.

My mum and I had a fantastic time celebrating our birthdays there. Jay (the duty manager), Alina our waitress, and the rest of the team made us feel so special and delivered an exceptional service. I highly recommend it!

Been sitting for 20 min no one came to us, it’s not busy as there are 3 tables of people so I went to the counter, been ignored there as well I asked if we order at the bar or they would come the lady had the guts to say they’re busy and understaffed. The worst service ever. Avoid like plague

We ate here using Groupon vouchers so was well with it, I would have been disappointed if I paid £40 each as the food was ok but not exceptional. The service was amazing and the staff were very attentive !! 😊

We have booked an afternoon tea for 2. 45 minutes wait for 8 tiny sandwiches and 8 desserts. But no plates, had to wait another 10/15 minutes. Also no tea, had to wait another 20 minutes, waitress brings tea but no sugar, asked for sugar, not receiving it after 10 minutes. Went to the bar to get it myself, waitress saw me then 3 minutes later went to our table and thrown sugar on it...! This waitress never smiled or apologize. She clearly doesn´t like her job and should consider to change! Went to pay, bartender apologize for the wait, the only one that was nice in that room... The sandwiches and desserts were not great. Very basic and the bread wasn´t fresh... Much too expensive for what we had. Will never go back again and highly do not recommend this place.

We were really disappointed with our experience at Urban Meadow Cafe. After getting a Groupon voucher for 4 people to experience their festive menu, we decided to go along on a Monday afternoon at 1pm. When we arrived, we were seated by the window and some tables were put together for us (we had 2 babies and a 3yo with us too). This seemed great service and was done very promptly. It was then time for us to order our meals. We began with drinks and then moved onto food, however we were told we each needed to go round the table one by one and do starters first, then all do mains, then all do dessert and then finally kids as it was easier for the waiter to write it down (Okay no problem, bit weird though?) He then told us he would prepare our meals in the order that he had taken them. (Okay cool). The kids starter and main then both appeared at the same time, quickly followed by the adults starter (best part about the food tbh). However the 3yo is now trying to eat 2 courses before they each get cold. Second course finally arrives (no more offer of anymore drinks) and the turkey is practically see-through with fat and gristle so was barely touched by anyone. It's now been 2 hours 15 and we still haven't been offered anymore drinks so we ask for our dessert as there had been no sight of that either. Out comes the 4 adult Desserts but no kids dessert after she was told 2 hours ago that she would have her cake and ice cream when she eats both her starter and main. We are THEN told there's no cake in the flavour we had ordered. You can imagine the upset on a 3yo who has been sat there for 2 hours waiting! All of this is going on whilst the managers are interviewing across the room on another table and the table next to us hasn't been cleared since we first walked in! Just to add context, we were one of 3 tables in there eating so it wasn't as if they were all rushed off their feet. Wouldn't recommend, unless they found the perfect candidate that day I suppose.

Pleasant aesthetic and polite but inadequate/junior staff. Service was slow, had to chase each course/ drinks / bill. Food came at all different times, my 3yo had her starter and main served at the same time, long before the rest of us were served starters, they didn’t get round to serving her a dessert. Food wasn’t pleasant - in part inedible (Turkey) Ended up leaving after over 2.5 hours and forgoing the included coffee and mince pies. We were for the most part the only customers in there, although there were numerous recruitment interviews ongoing throughout our visit. Would definitely not return.

I would like to complain about the afternoon tea voucher which I purchased through Wowcher. I attended this experience on Sunday. The service was absolutely terrible throughout the whole experience. When we arrived, we informed the waitress that we were there for the Wowcher afternoon tea deal. She sat us at the table and left us there without taking any drinks orders. We then waited 20 minutes but no one came to start our experience or ask for drink orders even though the restaurant was virtually empty and the staff were sat at the bar. After this time with no drinks or food, we went to the bar to ask them if we could start our afternoon tea and have some drinks and they said they would be over in a few minutes which they did not. We then went back up to the bar to ask them for the same request and they said they will be with us in a few minutes and again they did not. After several times going up to the bar and complaining, someone came to take our drinks orders for the afternoon tea and they were very rude and also made mistakes with our orders. When our food eventually arrived, it was dropped in front of us to which the staff member swore - I have a photograph of this. The sandwiches were very very dry as if they had been sat there all day and some of the pastries were too. We did not have a good experience at all and are very unhappy with the service during our visit. The staff were unhelpful and rude throughout. This was supposed to be for my daughters birthday and we were extremely disappointed with our experience. There were two other groups of people who we spoke to, who were complaining to the supervisor at the time - they were very unhappy with the service also, and refused to pay.

Strange atmosphere created by staff with weird attitude. Ordered bottled drinks which took over 10mins to arrive, and then actually arrived at same time as the fries we ordered. Any other request took 10mins. Odd place.

Beautiful Cafe that is right in front of the Kensington Gardens. They have the buffet breakfast and got a good spread.

Worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Price should be £35 each but even £35 for two was a rip off! Hardly any sandwiches or cakes. Best thing was the one scone we each had. Both of the small creamy looking cakes definitely tasted off. When we told the waitress she quickly took them away with no apology or offer of anything else! No one asked us if everything was ok during our time there. Don’t know how they can serve that up and call it afternoon tea! Very very poor.

I love their outdoor seatings because it’s so relaxing. Their variety of food and drink is also very good and the pricing is reasonable considering the location and the fact it’s attached to a hotel. However when they have a big group of customers, I wish the staff to tell them to keep themselves to their table. Once I was working on my laptop and a big group of people (hotel guests getting ready for a party or an event) came and they started to sit on my table and speak so loudly that I had to leave. It ruined my relaxing afternoon.

Check Your Receipt! We both ordered the roasted tomato penne as vegetarian options were very limited. It was lacking in flavour and had very few vegetables. Very disappointing. We ordered 3 coffees and a tea. Thankfully I checked the receipt and found that they had over charged us for each coffee by about £1.50, so an overcharge of approximately £4.50. This was on top of the 10% service charge. When I spotted it I complained to the waitress, who explained that they were waiting for new menus to be printed to reflect the prices they had charged us! Sorry, this is contrary to the Sale of Goods Act! Advertising one price and charging another. How many others have they overcharged like this? Absolutely disgusting! The Waitress removed the service charge from our bill (which was about equivalent to the £4.50 overcharge). As we walked away we wondered whether the Waitress was therefore out of pocket. Really unacceptable. The one big plus was the young lady who served us. She was extremely pleasant and polite. One star was dropped on the service because we were sitting at an outside table for some time without being approached and we had to go inside to attract her attention. After that, her service was excellent. Atmosphere dropped as the road was quite noisy. Nothing they could do about that.

Would Paris Hilton eat here? No. Over cooked burger, missing condiments, had to keep going to bar to ask for drinks, water, condiments. Took 30 minutes for food and cafe was only at 10% capacity and we saw seven waitstaff. The staff never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything. Breakfast—we had to ask for coffee machine grounds to be emptied as did other guests. We figured how to dump grounds and did it ourselves. Guests were asking for buffet items to be refilled multiple times.

Services is absolutely terrible, no professionalism at all. We have been waiting for 15 min to be seated. The waitress was literally ignoring us when we said « hi ». And the food was definitively not worth the price.

Pitiful gluten free options so didn't eat here. No-one on the bar when we walked in so the service was a little disjointed possibly because the poor person manning the bar was doing so alone. Management need to staff appropriately and do better

Such a gorgeous place. Had an amazing night. Couldn't of asked for more from staff, they were freindly and lovely. The food was out of this world and well worth the money. Will definitely going back again soon.

Food was good. Service was a little slow. Staff was very friendly!

Decidedly mediocre at best. Food was relatively well presented but pricey considering it was tasteless and the serving staff did not have a clue about the actual menu but we paid the device charge nevertheless as they were attentive and definitely not rude. Calamari was over cooked and the soup was out of a can. Great location Opposite Hyde park but we won’t be going back anytime soon.

Its an amazing place to work or study. Amazing servie, good quality bug place its quite and recomend for big groups.

After noon tea very good with large choice and nice cakes

Part of the Double Tree Hyde Park, this Restaurant has a large outside Terrace. Ideal to relax with a drink and some snacks after a long trip to London. I had the calamari, salted fries and Burrata. Burrata I had for the first time and it was delicious.

Leider kein schönes Erlebnis. Mitarbeitende wollen bei Wind nicht draußen bedienen, man muss also alles am Tresen bestellen. Es dauert ewig bis Getränke und Essen kommen. Das Personal ist leider überhaupt nicht freundlich und beim Bezahlen (zu dem wir uns wieder zum Tresen begeben mussten) wurde uns ggü sogar die Augen verdreht. Die Servicecharge haben sie aber natürlich trotzdem berechnet. Mit der Suppe, die ich gegessen hatte, hatte ich noch ein unschönes Wiedersehen - absolut keine Empfehlung.

Having booked our table we came here for afternoon tea. It turned out they were painting the walls and doing maintence work while still serving. In my honest oppinion the cafe should be closed for this kind of work.

Terrible service, we were completely ignored. We left in the end, without eating and went round the corner to The Shed and was actually really pleased with our choice!

I came here to meet up a friend and it has a beautiful garden and l sat in the garden with my friends and the had small beears and l like it and l think it's a place which you can sit and relax

My husband and I had a 3 course lunch with a bottle of prosecco. This was a wowcher offer that I thought was very good value. The food choices were great and the food quality was excellent. The service could have been more attentive, but certainly nothing to complain about. The restaurant was not busy when we were there and lacked a little in ambiance. However, it was pleasant surroundings and the option to sit outdoors if we wanted.

This is a hotel restaurant, catering for hotel guests as well as the public. Its breakfast menu therefore has the standard hotel buffet as well as a la carte options. It's reasonably priced for London, the staff are attentive and helpful, and the food and coffee are fine.

Very slow service and the staff didn’t seem to be in any rush. The restaurant wasn’t even at full capacity. We ordered drinks initially and it took over 30 minutes for them to even start making them so we left
