Extremely overpriced and food is less than average. You’re simply paying for the view

I went to Duck and Waffle with my partner for the first time since we moved to London and to celebrate not only Valentine's but also she got a promotion at work. I would like to tell you all that sadly, it probably was one of the worst experiences we've ever had in our lives in a restaurant, ever. We sat about 10PM and the food to share were amazing, but from there everything went south. The starters and the main course took 30m each to be delivered to our table, the food was COLD and even worse were mistreated by the personnel, almost as if we didn't exist. My girlfriend and I like tasting new menus and ideas, and to be honest the desserts were all tasteless, the mango sorbet felt like it was days off and crystalized, and the dark chocolate macadamia was impossible to eat, let alone the fact that all the food was served out of temperature. Finally, we saw SEVERAL times the personnel mistreating each other, even pushing themselves in a way that was inappropriate and to be honest, it even felt a bit violent. I am terribly sorry to have wasted my time and (a lot of) money at Duck and Waffle and I hope not to ever go again, and personally I would never recommend it to anyone. Even further if I were alone and not with my partner I would have asked for a refund because this is no way to treat a customer or anyone at any high end restaurant. I'll give it a 3 stars on atmosphere since the view is probably one of the best in London and the music was nice. I'd recommend going to D&W just for a drink and the view, maybe some pictures.

Foods were ok but not worth the the hype. They gave us something we didn’t order, instead of taking that order back they kind of “forcing us” to have it. Note that service charge is 14%

Expensive food with a nice view

The location is fantastic, and the night time view across the city was also incredible. The service from staff was excellent throughout the meal. We also went for a cocktail in the bar area afterwards, and the service there was also wonderful. The bar area had a live dj so the combination of the view, the vibes, and the excellent cocktails made it a lovely experience. The food, unfortunately, was the weakest part of the experience. We were recommended that we treat it as an almost tapas style with the idea being to share small plates to try a range of things, so that's what we did. We had the signature duck and waffle as felt that we needed to try it. The duck in the comfit duck was excellent, but the waffle was surprisingly tough, chewy, and bland. Out of our small plate selections, the lobster roll was pretty good. the fois gras soufflé was interesting and was enjoyable enough. Then the house bread and fries were just very standard bread and fries. The truffle and parmesan topping on the fries was probably not worth the extra cost as it seemed to be lacking in flavour. The food all came out very fast, so I'm wondering if some of the above issues were due to some of the elements having sat there for a while rather than being made to order and causing them to lose some freshness Overall the meal was fine and we finished everything as it wasn't a bad meal, just maybe worth being aware that the experience/atmosphere and the food quality feel a bit misaligned. You certainly won't feel that its worth the money, so maybe try elsewhere if you are more value conscious

My friend and I had dinner on 12th Feb 2024 from 7-9pm. After dinner, we wanted to take a picture of the view out of the window. The tall blond waitress approached us and asked if we had any reservation and we said we just had our dinner here. She said ok you can do that in an arrogant way. I am very uncomfortable with her attitude to the degree that I have to leave this review. To be honest, it’s a good restaurant in terms of the atmosphere and the food. Most of the people there are absolutely delightful and friendly. But you just need to have people who respect their job and people they interact with. I am disappointed about what happened to us and it’s humiliating for any customer to pay 14% service charge to be treated that way.

Came to Duck & Waffle for mine and my partner’s anniversary. We had a beautiful view of London at nighttime. I was very impressed with the veggie options. For small plates, I had the puy lentils with miso yogurt, cheese polenta croquettes, and the bbq corn ribs. The lentils were gorgeous and flavourful, and by far my favourite dish. IFor my main I had the tempura mushroom and waffle, which was nice, but did not stand out as much as the veggie starters. However, I am looking forward to coming again and trying the other vegetarian mains! I had two cocktails - the Garden Party and Chocolate Americano. The former was my favourite as it was refreshing. The latter was a bit too sweet for my personal taste. We were served by the lovely Amina who answered all our questions and made us feel very welcome. Her enthusiasm made our experience that much better. Thank you!

Waffles are delicious, we've tasted those with caramelizes banana and chocolate, and duck with eggs. Amazing sight from 40th floor. Service is very gentle.

It's a really cool experience for sure. At 230 meters you can see so much of London while enjoying a cocktail or food. We were a walk-in during the day and had no problem getting a table which was a big plus. The elevator ride up alone is great! Ofcourse a bit more expensive but that's to be expected here I think. Would go again to show somebody the view, wouldn't make it my place to go to get a drink though. Great and knowledgeable staff though too!

Lots of tasty food & a really nice view. 😎🏙️ I wanted to go to Duck & Waffle for a long time, but somehow never made it 🤷‍♂️. Finally a few weeks ago, a colleague picked it for an office dinner and I was very pleased with that choice 🥳. We arrived just as the sun went down and had an amazing view over the City 🌇. By the time we left, the view had changed, but was still as exciting as when we arrived 🌃. Personally, I really liked the duck and waffle combination 🧇🍗🍁, but it might not be for everyone. The starter selection we had was also delicious, particularly the bacon wrapped dates. The desserts were great too, my favourite were probably the “Torrejas”, maple caramel apples with cinnamon ice cream. They also have a nice wine selection with interesting options that you might not find on every wine list 🍾.

We been here two years ago for my boyfriend birthday and food was incredible but the service was great but not on top. Now after 2 years, we came back for my birthday and the service was outstanding. Thanks to Dhanesh to taking care with your outstanding service during our Brunch.

Lovely atmosphere good for a drink in night time.

Very mediocre all around. Food was under seasoned and uncreative, and to my opinion not worth spending that amount of money on. The coffee is organic, but not ethically sourced (organic≠slave free and sourced) It’s straight from a machine but is still being labelled “specialty coffee” (I gave a recommendation to the waiter, because I work in specialty coffee, and that’s how I found out). The place was buzzing and it was hard to find a calm ambience. The staff was quick however, considering the place was full. The view is awesome, and I would consider coming for cocktails. But for food, I would probably spend my money else where next time.

The service was great. We managed to book a table 2 hours in advance on a Saturday night and got put in the best corner of the restaurant with amazing views over canary wharf and the Thames. The dinner came out to around £30 per person, which given the location is an absolute steal. Will be back again.

Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Amazing staff that is super helpful. Would definitely recommend coming here to eat. We ate the English breakfast and the duck and waffle. 10/10

Schöne Aussicht und nette Bedienung. Jedoch überaus teuer. Teurer als üblich für Londoner Verhältnisse. Man zahlt jedoch auch für den Ausblick, welcher wirklich toll ist.

We went for sunrise on a Saturday morning, the restaurant was about half full. Food was good and fairly priced (relative to the rest of London). Had a bit of an issue where they forgot our drinks orders. Definitely experience once

Beautiful restaurant with astonishing views of London. It has a pleasant, soothing ambience. The seating was comfortable and the service was excellent. The breakfast was delicious, however some aspects were not to my taste and that’s ok. Overall, I had a wonderful experience (I went for my birthday breakfast). Just to note, it is quite pricey as for 2 people it did cost around £62 for two English breakfasts with two glasses of freshly squeezed juice. Personally, I believe you are paying more for the ambience and experience.

We arrived just before midnight on a Thursday, the place was busy. Fantastic views and cool vibe. Fast service (though slow when paying the bill), and decent food - though would need to try it again to be able to review accurately. The signature dish was ok (Duck & Waffle) - not overly exciting though the duck was cooked well. The sweet potato poutine was delicious. The 2 cocktails were a little dilute it seemed to us but very nice nevertheless (probably just because of a lot of ice). Overall such a cool place and the elevator journey alone was worth it. We will be back again to try other dishes and cocktails.

Went there to eat lunch with a view and it did not disappoint ! We reserved and asked for a table close to a window, which we got. The views were astonishing. The duck & waffle waffle was great, the grilled octopus as well, nice portions. The toffe waffle was an awesome dessert, quite big so glad we could share it. Our server was amazing and kind, he checked on us and even took pictures of us when we asked (that look very professionnal). We do not remember his name, but he was Indian, hope he will read this and know he made our lunch extra special ! Eating at floor 40 is an experience we highly recommend ! We found the prices pretty okay for the overall experience. Only thing that could have been better was the welcome team at the 40th floor, but we’re all human.

The duck is really good honestly… we ordered the lobster roll which wasn’t the greatest but still filled our tummies. As an appetizer we would recommend the corn ribs :)

Fui a este sitio por recomendación y todo un acierto ( además , tuve suerte con mesa con vistas ). El local está bien ambientado , y la comida muy buena, me gustaron todos los platos. No dejes de probar la especialidad ( duck and Waffle ) una mezcla de salado y dulce totalmente sorprendente. Precio adecuado para producto y Londres . Te rebajan la fianza que has puesto del ticket , y te adicionan la propina ( en este caso de un 14% )

Excellent food, very nice setting, I didn't appreciate the service because I was there for a birthday and had already booked and paid for a birthday cake for my wife. It was embarrassing to be asked by a waiter “what do you want for dessert?” I had to say nothing so as not to make my wife suspicious, after which they brought us the dessert menu and again I was embarrassed because my wife was deciding on dessert when in reality we shouldn't have another dessert. The waiters had to be prepared for the fact that I had booked a cake.

Il posto è bellissimo per la vista e il servizio gentile, solo parecchio inamidato e un po’ questa cosa si sente. Ho comunque preso il prodotto iconico del locale (duck&waffle, appunto) e son rimasta abbastanza soddisfatta. Buono ma porzione veramente piccola. Il conto è un po’ overpriced rispetto al cibo in sé. Si paga sicuramente la posizione, che è super. Ottima la modalità di prenotazione. Forse lo consiglierei più per un drink che per un pasto vero e proprio.

Great views and a wonderful setting are let down by mediocre food and lacklustre service. We made the mistake of booking in what appears to have been the shift change and before even getting seated were informed we had minutes to order food should we want it. The food and cocktails were ok, but far from the ‘iconoclassic experience’ advertised. Make no mistake, it is the view you are paying for.

Duck and Waffle excels in sophistication. The skyline view elevates the ambience, while the food is a delightful symphony of flavors. Impeccable service completes this culinary masterpiece.

View is fantastic - well, it is on the 40th floor! Staff friendly and efficient. Duck and rest of food and drinks were delicious. Price-wise, definitely in treat territory for those on average income.

I was in London for 2 weeks, and this place was one of the spots I went to that I just had to post about. Everything there is with duck eggs, duck meat, and Belgian waffles in stead of regular eggs, English muffins, pancakes and so on. The menu is great, the service is solid, the view was outstanding, and the food was epic!! Here are a few photos from my trip to the Duck and Waffle. And yes that's 3 different entres. That's one meal for me. I'm a big muscle boy. Lol #Yayfitness

Great evening out. A little pricey but it is generally good food. The views are amazing, try to catch sunset on a clear day. Booking at a sensible time can be a challenge but not impossible some weeks ahead. Also used for a corporate event. Set menu options are good and much better value for money compared with similar in the vicinity or at the Shard.

Absolutely amazing views from our table right by the window. There were six of us and we really had a memorable night . The food , the starters , main course and desserts were fantastic and we all enjoyed it 👍😂. The service was very good too . Hopefully we will be back .

"I went to Duck and Waffle last Sunday evening with friends and family. We received a wonderful, warm welcome from Vanda, the hostess. She escorted all of us to a spectacular table with a city view from the 40th floor. The atmosphere was vibrant right away. The general manager, Girts, helped us with our coats and took our first drink order. Every staff member was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, and the wine list was more than impressive. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting London, even for just a day. It's an experience of a lifetime. I will definitely return there regularly."

My 1st visit was at 2014 and since that every time visit London, I always come to here and their food, service and ambience is still the same even getting better and better. Its signature dish Waffle & Duck are very unique and special but other dishes like Lobster Roll is also very delicious. Located at the 40th floor at 110 Bishopsgate Heron Tower with the glasses wall, you will enjoy a amazing view of London city, especially at sunset and evening time. Need to make reservation long before coming to get a table. Must visit one when you are visiting London, UK

Great place, gorgeous view of London, gorgeous foods to share, and gorgeous value for money. The only ´down' side is that almost impossible to get a booking for a diner table, but I can understand why 😎.

Lovely restaurant with an amazing view. The food was great, as was the service. I had the signature duck and waffle which I'd highly recommend, it's also quite filling. The only drawback is the limited space if you're a big group (which we were), feels slightly tight. I'd still highly recommend this for evening drinks and or dinner (business or personal).

Superb restaurant located at a fantabulous place, the views up from there are really nice plus the service of the staff is at the level you expect of a place of this characteristics (special mention to our waiter dhanesh, very polite and professional)

Great for first time, we ordered the popular dish duck and waffle, not the best duck. Not enough salt as expected from a confitet duck leg, the rest of the dishes really good. Amazing views and good service.

Che dire, esperienza da fare, con poco più di 20 pound a testa (menù brunch e se si prende solo un piatto) si riesce a mangiare bene e con una vista magnifica. L’unico problema è riuscire a prenotare, immagino soprattutto per il weekend, sul sito c’è la possibilità di inserire l’email così da avere la notifica quando si libera un posto.

Super restaurant et bar avec un mélange de style sympathique. Le personnel était très agréable, serviable et souriant, et notre chef de rang, qui parlait un très bon français nous a fait passer un super moment !

I was worried as there were mixed reviews on TripAdvisor but I am so glad we went. All the food was lovely and the views insane. Definitely great for a special occasion! Can't fault the service, even on a busy Saturday night.

Food has greatly improved. Service has not. A guy mistaken my reservation time at 9:15 and yet my booking was at 9:45. He didn't bother to check with me. A blonde tall guy picked the wrong order without rechecking it in the end of order. There were good waiters too who fixed those mistakes. (A lady helped me with the table and a nice black gentleman helped me with the right order) However, two mistakes in a row is just a poor experience. The restaurant should really improve their service.

Great views of London. And the duck and waffles which is literally what the place is famous for are great. Visit this place every time I’m in London and it never disappoints.

The food was really good. The signature is the cheapest in the main menu but really worth it. Small portion but filling. The place is gorgeous, stunning view and vibe. The rest of the food is a bit too pricey. Overall great experience, you should try it! Ps. It’s not in the menu but you can ask for a gluten free waffle.

Un lieu à visiter de nuit pour apprécier la beauté de la ville. L'accueil était sympathique. Globalement, la nourriture était moyenne, rappelant un peu l'ambiance d'un bistrot moyen à Paris. Le prix est excessif compte tenu de la qualité de la nourriture. Il y avait une petite surprise pour l'apéro avec des dattes et du lard, mais le reste était assez classique. Il est à noter que les réservations de la restauration nécessitent le paiement d'une caution de 30 €, normalement déduite du montant final de la facture.

Nice place. But "A discretionary 14% service charge will be added to the bill." is in smallprint on the menu. Pay your staff a proper wage. This isn't the USA. Do not put automatically add tipping to your bills for somebody to bring food from the kitchen. Yes it says 'optional', but it's very awkward to ask for it to be taken off. I won't be back. If we want to tip, we will tip! Stop being cheap.

Overpriced for service and food and you have just an hour and half table then they have to kick you out. Overall not worthy for food and services you can spende same money in Sushi Samba and have a better location food and drinks.

All faff, no substance. Food is just ok, service is abysmal. Don't pre-order anything when booking a table because you will have to remind the staff about everything. What's even the point of pre-ordering?? Service was way too slow as well. It was a Tuesday evening and not so busy ... And we got a completely different birthday cake then the one that was pre-ordered. It looked like they just found it at the bottom of the fridge and it was the only one they had. They just don't care anymore. Never going again.

We were in a party of 4, and the atmosphere is uncanny. Priceless view of the city, a buzzing bar/restaurant that is open 24x7. Food was really good also, we basically shared every starter on the menu. The only not perfect thing was regarding service - we had to order drinks 3/4 times before they actually came (and it was glasses of wine...)

Sadly not as great as it used to be. Booked early dinner here at 4:15 pm to show a friend in town an impressive spot in London. At 5:40 we were being rushed off the table despite loads of tables being free. We were getting ready to leave and had meeting to go to at 6pm but were asked like 3 times to leave the table. If a restaurant like this can’t accommodate a 1hr 45min dinner at 4ish I question the focus. Also plates were cleared while we were still chewing. After spending 200 pounds it’s not sitting well not be able to even be able to finish our meet up in peace. Felt more like a fast food experience rather than a nice restaurant. I’ve been here numerous times before and this was definitely the last! Sadly it has become a drive through car wash mentality vs. a pleasant experience.

Not too flexible with the deposit refund policy. Despite my best attempt to still attend, I fell ill on the day of my booking and was vomiting non stop. Was told because of their policy I will not be able to get my deposit back.

Amazing view, the rest... Not so much... The service was not good for a restaurant that charges you £120 for a dinner for 3 people. We asked for some bread and it took 15/20 minutes to have it, and we were charged £10 (which is madness). I knew I was gonna pay a lot of money but it's not worth it. It's much better to go somewhere to just see the view or to have just a drink at the shard instead of dining here. The duck and waffle plate was good, nothing mind blowing though. Overall I won't ever go back, not even if I win the lottery. (P.s. they asked me for 7 pounds each if I wanted to eat my Tesco birthday cake, hilarious.)

The location atop a skyscraper is what you are there for and paying for. The menu is small, the food expensive, and only so-so. The tables are crammed in. The toilets are very, very few and small.

i had the lobster roll, Brussel sprouts, and fries. i had an indigestion from the Brussel sprouts and spent the day in bed with excruciating stomach pain.

It was really good food but the menu is quite specific and limited. We went for a late lunch and we're there with friends for about 3 hours as it took a while to be served all the dishes (sharing style). Beautiful Christmas decor and obviously views of London.
